I read (online, so I dunno) that it was all a gimmick so they would attract attention and thus more sales, and I think it worked considering everyone here seems to remember them as "those lesbians". But yeah, one of them does have (or had) a boyfriend. And as far as I know, she's straight. The lyrics and videos and everything were just for popularity.

Catchy songs nonetheless. ♥

I was pretty convinced by the lyrics of their songs that they were lesbians o.0
Seeing they referred to 'she' and 'her'...

I listened to "All the Thing She Said" and just got all the refernces. Like, in the lyrics "'Cause I'm feeling for her, what she's feeling for me."

It's one of my many slow moments. XD;

But, I'm pretty sure that's just their perverted pedo manager. x_x;;

This is actually what the manager said, and I'm not lying. You can actually look it up if you don't believe me.

Ivan Shapovalov and his friend/business partner Alexander Voitinskyi developed plans to create a musical project in Russia. Many stories have been told about Shapovalov's purpose of creating the group. He said to the UK's The Sun in February 2003,
" I saw that most people look up pornography on the Internet and of those, most are looking for underage sex. I saw their needs weren't fulfilled. Later, it turned out, I was right. This is the same as my own desires. I prefer underage girls.[1] "

It's downright sick.

Yeah dude that's..pretty effed up, but it would probably be a bit more convincing if it wasn't something written about in the "Sun Magazine," which is completely filled with bullshit anyways XD

If that is actually something he said, though..that's kinda disturbing ._.

I'm just glad Volkova and Katina had the sense to leave that manager when they did. I found t.A.T.u. got so much better on their second album, without his input. :x

Haha, I know what you mean. XD; Well, yes, that's the band, but they're not really lesbians. ;>

I'd be surprised if they didn't. Sounds like their manager really pushed the gay thing. o_O

They did, and to this day I don't know why.
And, yes, Tyler, they have made out on stage during their earlier live performances. I don't think they do it anymore.

Why do I know so much about t.A.T.u.? *shot*

Well, considering the original lesbianism was just a façade, they probably don't anymore.

I dunno, but now you've got me listening to them. XD

6000th post in the DCC. \o/

Yeah, I don't suspect that they'd do. It would have gotten so old anyway. >;

They are pretty catchy, though, aren't they? ;D

Yeah, I know. It's not new and risqué anymore anyway. XD

My god are they ever. @_@ I'm going to have all these songs stuck in my head at once tomorrow at work, I know it.

It lost all its controversy, so it's pretty much bitten the dust. I guess it's just as well, anyway.

I have two of their songs stuck in my head. Is that even possible? XD;

It happens to me all the time. I'll have the tune or lyrics of one song just slightly wrong in my head to the point where at that one place, the songs kind of... meld together. It's hard to explain but that's how I get multiple songs stuck in my head at once. XD

How come no bands use gay-ism ;____;
For some reason I liked them more when I found out they were lesbians ._.

For me, it plays one song, and then it fades out and plays a different one. Kinda like a bad radio medley of songs. :3

@Xairmo: I'm sure a lot of people did. As for gay-friendly bands... I hear a lot of Japanese bands are rather homoerotic in nature. However, you'll have to settle for men since I don't know of any with women. XD

@Scarlet: Yours makes more sense than mine. XD Because when I go back to listen to the songs stuck in my head, the REAL songs confuse me when they aren't melded together.

Im okay for settling with men :3

Unfortunately, I know nothing more since I'm scared of the JRock/Visual Kei fandom/bandom. XD; But look into it? I could be wrong, but I've heard the band members are fanservice-y.
