If I am not mistaken, The Hills is supposed to be reality. Like they just follow around these people in their everyday life... Of course it is popular idea (probobly fact) that it is scripted. As for O.C. I am pretty sure that it was never intended to be reality (actualy I know for a fact it isn't xD) and whoever here said it is a reality tv show is wrong. It was never intended, or marketed to be that....... The Hills on the other hand was.

There is only one reality show that i really love.. i watch it every year its called "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" its where loads of celebritys go into the jungle and do trials to survive its really good :] :]

That's not reality TV. Reality TV is like Big Brother or Beauty and the Geek, like Archer kinda says.

OC and The Hills are like movies, acted on purpose.

It could be both actually.

Since Big Brother and the others are reality, but twisted in some sort of way and I wouldn't really call what they do is reality, since I don't see myself doing most of the things they do on those shows, but it's reality in a way that it involves real people, like ourselves, have to deal with different situations.

And OC and The Hills are more practical reality, that help us relate more and most of the things that happen in those shows, people can relate to or they've experienced it.

Am I allowed to change the subject since it's been over 6 hours since the last post?

I'd just like to mention what a sorry state the DCC is in after all these years of using it as an active chatroom. Any ideas for restoring it to such a state?

Are you one of those kids who thinks that PC's lost its spirit?

And I doubt very much that The Hills isn't scripted. The camera angles always seem to be perfect and everything that is spoken is clear. That doesn't happen with most reality TV shows. Big Brother, Wife Swap and the like are obviously not scripted. All you need to have to figure out the difference between scripted shows and shows that can go anywhere is common sense.

The Hills is as scripted as Next and Parental Control are.
I wonder if those shows even know how scripted they are....>_>

And how would you know this? Do you personally know and trust someone who's been on reality TV? I've always assumed these people would just be paid extra to keep quiet and continue acting like it was real even afterward (not that I EVER hear about people from reality TV shows after they're kicked off, ahaha).

I've be on an island before where there was no technology and little food and it gets to yet.

Oh goooosh XD Next and Parental Control, those two shows make me lol so much. They're so fake it's painful, especially Parental Control. I mean geez, some of the *****y boyfriends/girlfriends that their children supposedly have are just... oh god XD; I seriously doubt that they try to market those as actual reality shows, but just ones to lol over.

I've only heard of Next. :< I don't watch MTV. What's Parental Control, exactly?

EDIT// Ahahaha, I just thought of the show Date My Mom just now. Who here has seen it? XD; My MTV-loving friend made me watch an epsiode, and I to this day believe that that show's also scripted.

All reality show are real. That's why they call them reality and not fakelity.

Pretty much it's where these parents are fed up with their child's current boyfriend/girlfriend, so they interview lots of random people and chose two for their child to go out with while they (the parents) and their current boyfriend/girlfriend watch from home XD The lines that are said at home... oh lawd, so fake and cheesy and... XD.

Haha, fakelity.... yeah that made me chuckle (you were intending to make people laugh right?).

Um, there are several, several shows that claim that they are reality television shows, or are simply categorized under reality but are suspected to be scripted. And that is what we have been discussing supertails (for some reason it doesen't seem like you have noticed). I mean, do you actually think that shows like Next and Parental control are real? Just like they are categorized? If you do, thats cool still.

That sounds... interesting. XD; I guess it must be scripted then if the families say those kinds of cheesy things?

I very much do. I mean it's 24/7 and they choose the best stuff from it.

I have no idea XD; Most of them seem fake, I can't imagine any real parents setting up their children with random people they interviewed off the street.

Yeah, there's just something about that that doesn't sit right with me. XD; And why would they try to replace their child's boy/girlfriend in the first place, instead of letting their child live their life?

I've be on an island before where there was no technology and little food and it gets to yet.
That's hardly the same. You weren't being filmed, nor were you being paid to be on said island. o_O; I don't want to judge without hearing why you were on that island but... you really can't compare it. A producer didn't set up the island, engineer everything to work out a certain way, and then drop you in there to see what would happen (which is what reality TV is supposed to be--not that it sounds very real to me).

Wehave no idea if reality TV is completely scripted or not, but just think about your life. Would it be interesting enough to film and put on TV? Would millions of people tune in every day to see what you and the people around you are up to? Probably not. That's why I can't help but feel that reality TV just isn't that real. Sure, most reality shows that follow people explicitly are centred around celebs, but my point still stands--most "typical" people (the ones they supposedly pick out for reality TV) aren't interesting enough to merit being filmed. Actors, on the other hand...

Then again, I don't even watch reality TV. 8/ I either find it uninteresting or risque/shocking just for the hell of it. I prefer my obviously scripted shows thank you very much. D: (Resultantly I have no clue what you guys are talking about so I'll just bow out of the conversation here. XD)
