Wait, McDonalds has a commission policy for its servers?

Exactly, they are just a revolving door way. Even if they said they cared about their employees too them they are probably just expendable commodities. One comes in another leaves, they will just plug them with another person. And I am sure a lot of people use McDonald's as a stepping stone to say they "had" a job previously.
 
Well, yeah. Working at McDonalds is still a job. People make it out to sound so bad but it really isn't. My friend goes to university, he's low on funds and he worked at McDonalds for god knows how long. Did he hate it? Sure! But did he need a job, money, more than that? Sometimes, we don't have a choice in the matter.

Truth.

For most people, it's exactly because you attend university and got a giant tuition to worry about on your back that you must get any job that you can, including McDonalds. Beggars can't be choosers. On the other hand, as long as you live at home and didn't move out yet, someone who isn't attending university/post-seconodary aren't in as desperate of a bind so they get to be a bit more picky with jobs.

@Kenshin: and it's a super valuable stepping stone... you just need something in the resume, anything. McDonald is actually one of the few places that won't mind hiring a blank resume. It's not bad to use McDonald as a start so you can start applying to places that require you to have at least one item in your resume and work experience.
 
That is so true, once you got your foot in the door it seems easier. The hard part is getting in there in the first place. That is why I am glad for my first job.
 
Oooh, if we're talking about jobs. I was like /this/ close to having to apply to McDonalds because I couldn't seem to get an interview anywhere I applied. But then yesterday I find out from a friend who's a manager at a country club where I applied that I actually had practically gotten the job, but do to miscommuncation between his boss and him, neither of them thought to contact me and tell me. Haha. :D

Also, I completely agree with Frost. My first job was retail at Shopko. Terrible terrible place to work, but it does look nice to not have a blank resume. So that's a plus.

Basically why working in McDonald is good in the long run. Everyone knows that it sucks, but if you worked there for quite awhile anyway, then man you are one patient, tolerant and understanding employee XD
 
I was offered a job at my local McDonald's when I was eating there with friends. The manager was out greeting people and she came up to me and asked me if I wanted to work there, and when I said no, she had an appalled look on her face like I just kicked a baby or something :/ (Weird comparison)

But yea, I don't like working at fast food places.
 
I was once offered a random job at some nice clothing store. I was pretty happy tbh. I would have taken it if I lived anywhere near, but it was like, a 4 hour journey from home.
 
I was actually offered a job a job at Borders (Because I go there every other week), the place I really wanted to work at, but I had to decline because I live 45 minutes away :/

I haven't been to one myself but I think that it's a bookstore type of place. Would be pretty interesting (and I personally will prefer it much more than McDonalds XD) to work at a bookstore instead.

Depends on practicality aspect of it but 45 minutes drive/bus isn't terribly unacceptable of a standard as long as wages cover the stupid bus fees... XD I dunno if it's just where I live, but I feel like even taking the bus is getting super pricy these days. Like, really, 2.75 as fare? Q.Q
 
Unless it's different to where I live. Borders is a bookstore ... I love borders but probably because it's the best place that sells manga in town
 
Ah, trust me to not know about a bookstore. Especially one that specialises in manga.
 
Borders doesn't actually specialize in manga. It's just a bookstore. Just where I live it's not easy to get manga and that's one of the few places you can get them
 
Oh right. I wouldn't even know where to look for manga other than the internet anyway. I've never seen it for real in any shop or with any person.
 
The only manga I see is at the library so I wouldn't know where to look either outside of the internet.
 
Hm most of the time I've only seen Manga in the "big" bookstores that are franchised all around the country anyway... In terms of a small bookstore that sells manga, I don't know of any except this one place that seems to specialize in "geek products" like Dungeons and Dragons book, WoW figurines and other 'western' geeky stuff along with mangas.
