House was originally planned to premier first, but snarky attitudes weren't in at the time so they just removed his beard, added a sense of humor and funny personality, and changed his name. Simple, right?

That's an awfully simplistic and sweeping generalisation. It's not always just a crutch (admittedly, it often it is.)

Well thing is that the reason people follow religion is for a 'good life'. No one, due to human nature, would sincerely enjoy following religion and being restricted by it as much as not being restricted by it. There are some that like to be told what to do, get a b%^* as a wife XD

No I'm more of a pessimist. Everything relies on the way evolution has made us.
Even with myself, I only go to "god" when I'm crying or something like that. Some people though, have more control with who they go to, or a wider selection of people to go to.

I think that's where a lot of people are wrong, though.
Indeed I will it admit it is a crutch for a lot of people but that's because they "have" the religion for the wrong reason: as a crutch. :P
Religion isn't supposed to be there as an aid in emotional distress, its there to help you live a better life.
In my doctrine we believe that by accepting Jesus Christ and leaving behind all natures of sin that we will be rewarded after death (or in the event of the rapture) eternal life in Heaven and after the destruction of the world we will then live on the new earth God creates.
So the ultimate goal here is eternal life. The purpose is to love God/Jesus the way He has unconditionally loved you. And the "crutch" that you are all talking about is an image created by people who only use church as a crutch when they can and never know anything about the Bible, or Jesus, or God.
You can't judge the church or religion by that one accountable.
I vote a change in topic. XD;
