Half of your argument is blatantly fallacious. The Internet is a luxury item, yes, but shelter is a necessity. Just go to sleep and make sure to be on time for your job, mortal.
Shelter, not a house. Shelter can be a cave, under a big tree, underground, etc. A house itself is really just one big luxury because you could just live in a cave for free.

Don't worry guys, I'm here to crush all your iPod nano hopes. Thus I shall destroy the iPod, and its demonic-like grip it has on the young generation.

In other news, I bought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1-4 on blu ray. I got a toque/beanie with it and can't wait for the winter.

I'd still wear it in the summer though.

You guys suck.
A lot.
You know that? D:<

[/totally had the banstick at the ready]

And yeah, Rosetta Stone sucks. I learned more watching anime + subs than I learned from that crap program. xDD
Of course this being like, years and years of anime + subs and a very rough, general outline understanding, but still.
Better than repeating "Uma" five bajillion times over.

Subtitled anime is actually a very poor learning tool. Many "translators" love to take liberties with the language.

Haha, I can understand that feeling. ;o

I'd be far too timid to thrust myself into such an alien environment so quickly. XD;

That's sorta the scariest route for someone like me to take. XD I was always scared that I would get pummeled with questions from the locals and not know what the heck they just said; therefore creating an embarassing situation of silence. :(

I had an excercise where I was in a group. We were told that we would be making up our own language, and had to make a language for a few common phrases such as 'hello' and 'how are you'. Needless to say, our group decided to create a physical language, so 'hello' meant hoping on one foot. Now once the language of each groups were created, we were told to make a new group, and use our new language to teach the others what 'hello' etc meant (without speaking english), we were to also do this while blindfolded. Needless to say, a lot of awkward silence took place. But you know what? Taking the initiative pays off. In my group I seemed to be the only one determined enough to try and teach my "language", despite the oddity of it. The reason why this excercise was done, was to weed out those who were good for the exchange program that did eventually take me to Indonesia.

Thus armed with an Indonesian phrase book, I was able to speak simple conversations with the host family I was with. Not to mention that body language and even emotional and physical gestures really do help a lot.

Add to the fact I am a bit of an introverted person, and I was surprised of myself... That is not to say that my time in Indonesia was all laughs and giggles either though (which was also beyond the scope of language, but that is for another time).

That sounds like fun. :3

How'd you teach others a visual language with blindfolds on? ;o

Took hold of their hands or feet, or even sound worked. XD

(the person who was helping with this suggested any form of "language" including physical, so it's not like I was *surprising* them XD)

@Feign: That sounds so, so interesting. So it was a prep activity for an exchange program? What other activities did you do? :O And what was the program itself like? *immensely interested in this stuff, even if she'd likely never do it herself* XD;

Most of the "translators" that take ridiculous liberties are the fansubbers anyway, and if you trust everything you see fansubbed, you're already making a mistake, haha. I've never had any issues with professional (and unedited) subs/dubs though. Regardless, anime itself isn't that great a medium to learn from.

It really is. :( And it's going to trick me every. single. time.

lmao I saw you as the last poster and, already having forgotten this title, came into the thread to close it and then reprimand you for even having bothered replying. 8|

Hurray! My devious plan is working /o/!

I had Rosetta Stone...I really didn't learn anything rememberable except boy and girl and man and woman. But then again, I'll let Japanese be for now. I'm going to take Chinese in college; it's going to be an important language later on.

Yeah um... Chibi about your plan. I've clicked here enough. I deserve one already :[

Though I don't really need one but free things from Chibi would be nice. :D

I'll have to advance my plans to take over the world before China makes the first strike, swear your loyalty to me and you shall be spared
