That is something that seems to happen with all plotlines in anime, I assume to keep the audience captive for longer (as I recall, when I was younger, I loved it when series dragged on and on, and hated it when they finished.) This is just with my (admittedly limited) experience with anime, anyway. :PFeign said:

Lol that's true. Though nowadays it seems to me that I cannot wait, and would rather see them all one after the other (more or less), than having to wait a week, or indeed watching them in a jumbled order.

If you take out pointless fillers and fanservice that seem to be a staple diet of anime these days... then you might actually be left with a decent storylines (but only in some anime of course).
