I just got home from rushing 40 minutes (...by foot) across town to get to a doctor's appointment. Was 15 minutes late but they still saw me thankfully. ;o;

I'd love to go back to sleep right now because I'm exhausted but I have a test to study for instead. *sigh* :(

edit: I wanna learn Mandarin but I don't want to be marked on it because I'll suck at it. XD
 
Yeah, though I could never carry a conversation in it... or do anything useful with it. But it gets me through import games and I can translate my own video game news so I'm happy with it. XD;

tbh I really suck at the oral part of other languages. <_< I can read and write in them fine when I learn the grammar/syntax but speaking? Augh. Part of the reason I don't want to be marked on learning Chinese is that I hear intonation and how you speak it is *everything* and that terrifies me, haha.
 
yeah, there's a difference between the words 'dou~' 都 and 'dou'多. And 'hao!' 号 and 'hao' 好. Tones and accents are extremely important x.x;;
 
Yeah... I picked up a book on Mandarin maybe 4 years ago? I read the first chapter on pronunciation and promptly closed the book and never looked at it again. It was scary. XD;
 
My cousin did a gap year to China from August 08 to August 09 and she's picked up lots of Mandarin! She even has a Chinese boyfriend even though she's back home :D
 
Well, I just had an interesting experience.

Anyone who uses BT will know, but they do a TV thing called 'BT Vision', which is basically episodes and series' of shows they put up as long as you have paid and stuff. Well, I was watching something with my brother and we paused it for dinner, and in the middle of dinner it changed to a screen saying, "Your BT Vision has expired. Are you the account holder? (Press Red for yes, blue for no.)"

Hypothetical conversation between me and BT Vision:

BT Vision: I do apologise sir, but your BT Vision has run out. Are you the account holder? (my dad who is the account holder was at the table, but obviously he didn't want to get up. obviously.)
Me: *pick up remote and press blue* No, I'm not.
BT Vision: Oh, well, I do apologise yet again sir. Please continue watching.

I lol'd really hard at the fact it's now letting us still watch. xD
