You know, if you want to make good art, there's plenty of free or at least trial art software out there that's good. Just try a Google search for Free Art Software, or go to Adobe and download the CS3 trial. There so much more you can do.
 
Actually, I was meaning that more towards GS, but yeah by all means try it out. It'll take a while to get good, though (definitely not the 30 days they give you for trials!). It took me 2 years to get as good as I am now.
