Yeah, episode title discussions.
A brief summary, from my point of view, of course.
Some of the episode titles in the Japanese version feel very literal, in my opinion. The original series English Dub seems to have translated Pokemon episode titles exactly. ...But along came the Johto dub, when all the episode titles were puns of some kind. Some were really cheesy... the puns only got... cheesier from there. Then, suddenly, around the Best Wishes series, the puns just stopped. I feel like the dub has lost its charm with the episode title names...
I'd have to say that "Sleepless in Pre-Battle" is a good episode title, because the pun doesn't catch me off guard. I love Sleepless in Seattle puns... okay? The most literal Japanese title would have to be this one for me: "Pikachu! Raichu! The Road to Evolution!!" But all of them are super annoyingly literal for me, it's super boring, in my opinion.
Alright. Anyway, now that I've babbled my head off about episode titles. What do you think of the episode titles of the Pokemon anime, from Japanese to English, doesn't matter. Which are some of your favorite episode titles? Do you feel that the names have lost their charm over the years?
