Flannery then asks you to control your Pokemon. It seems that Helena and Floppers are enjoying their splashing contest a little too much and everyone is getting wet. It uses Sunny Day while the Gyarados Dragon Dances. Floppers then uses Earthquake, but the Torkoal barely survives and uses Attract. Damn! Floppers is of course infatuated, but thankfully smashes it with Waterfall. KO! Next is Flannery's Camerupt, and you decide to switch to Helena. The Jellicent uses Rain Dance to change the weather, while Flannery commands Camerupt to...
 
...Mega Evolve and use Crunch on the Floating Pokémon. You are impressed at seeing a Mega Camerupt for the first time but nevertheless order Helena to use Water Spout which she does severely denting the Volcano like Pokemon. Flannery responds by telling Mega Camerupt to use Crunch...Critical Hit. You get the wounded Helena out of there and send on Marshall who easily withstands a Crunch. He is faster than Mega Camerupt and uses Wood Hammer to knock the Volcano Pokémon off its feet and end the battle. Flannery smiles and gives you the Volcano Badge and a key to the Scorched Slab where you can find your own Heatran. She also congratulates you on your marriage to Sabrina (She also reminds you she was actually there as a Bridesmaid) and says your wife is 'glowing.' The girls get very excited at hearing this and you ask Flannery...
 
...why she gave you a Volcano Badge and not a Heat Badge. She says that her Gym and Blaine's Gym were merged, so the Heat and Volcano Badges are legally the same now. You thank Flannery for the battle, Badge, and Scorched Slab Key, and then decide to take Sabrina, Serena, and Claire to a fancy restaurant to celebrate your victory. Upon entering, you see Bonnie and Clemont, who instantly runs to Serena and hug her. They thought that she died and was zombified in the Lumiose Zombie Attack. Apparently, a Masked Man is going around and kidnapping, torturing, and even killing all the Froakie, Frogadier, and Greninja he could find. You ask Sycamore why exactly you should care. Sycamore then states that the Masked Man has publicly announced that he would target the Fennekin line after he was done. You cry, "NO, NOT THE FENNEKIN LINE! THIS GUY'S A MANIAC! ...to find the Masked Man and confuse him by asking him if he is a boy or a girl. You and Sabrina shake your head and suggest a back-up plan. You notice Claire's Lilligant run into the Boutique next door and as you follow the Grass Pokémon you see the Masked Man trying to find a tie. He spots the Flowering Pokemon who calmly uses Sleep Powder putting him to sleep before running back to Claire. A now pleased Sycamore tells you...
 
...that he can now be apprehended. Unfortunately, the Masked Man wakes up and then points an invisible gun at Sycamore (damn it, 4Kids), blaming him for the Froakie line's survival. Fortunately, Pyra and Marshall sense that Sycamore is in danger and come out of their Balls to protect their father figure. Marshall blocks the invisible bullet, while Pyra super-heats the Masked Man's invisible gun and burns his hand. Sadly, the Masked Man then throws a smoke bomb and escapes. As usual, Officer Jenny comes too late to help. After Sycamore explains to Officer Jenny what happened, she responds by...
 
...shaking her head gravely and scolding Sycamore. After reassuring Serena as she is worried that she had been kidnapped you all head back to the cafe, and see the Masked Man cowering in fear as a woman with long brown hair and wearing a white Ball Gown orders him to repent and turn herself him. A Shiny Dragonite, a Mandibuzz and a Lilligant are stood with her. The Lilligant waves to you, wait it can't be. 'Champion'. Officer Jenny says. 'I'll take it from here.' as the Masked Man is apprehended. The woman turns round and My Goodness, The Champion of the Region is Claire. (No wonder that Lilligant seemed overpowered you hear Sabrina muttering to herself). You notice with her hair down Claire looks like Cynthia and seems more confident than before. She adjusts her glasses and and smiles before telling you she was going to reveal she was the Champion after you got the eighth Badge but, circumstances. She helpfully tells you her main Pokemon for battle is Dragonite and she travelled with you to learn about Pokémon behaviour. Lilligant stands besides her dancing happily. You are still surprised the Champion is travelling with you and ask her...
 
...of all people to choose to travel with, why choose you? She says it's because you asked her to join. You know this, but ask her why she said yes. Claire says that she can sense the power and potential of an individual, and apparently your potential is enormous and your power over 9000! She then reminds you that as much as she would like to battle you, you still need one more badge. You remember back when you fought Team Rocket in their Gym that Jessie mentioned a city floating in the clouds. There was a Gym there. Claire offers to take the group there via private jet. One jet ride later, and you arrive in the City in the Sky. You are surprised to see...
 
...Elite Four Marshall training there. He firmly shakes your hand and says 'You are the one the Champion has been speaking so highly of.' He gives a friendly hug to Champion Claire. 'I have no doubt we will battle soon, once you have got the Final Gym Badge.' An elegant voice yells 'That is assuming he defeats me'. Winona walks over to the party looking radiant with long blonde hair and she says 'Please Challenger, may you, your party and your Pokémon make yourself at home and rest.
