The Everlasting Pokémon Journey

...tells you that there's a problem at the Saffron Gym. It's not something you need to worry about, but she has to go back to Saffron City for one day, missing your Gym battle with Winona. You understand and tell her not to worry about it. She wishes you good luck, kisses you, then Teleports with Alakazam. Skyla then asks you if you want to go to the City in the Sky's Air Cannon Festival. Since you still remember being fired from the cannon in Skyla's Gym and landing face first on the wall, you respectfully decline. Skyla and Oak then leave to check out the festival. You decide to get your Pokemon from the park and go see what Serena is doing. To your surprise, you see Serena battling...

...asks you where you got a Weepinbell when you already have six Pokemon. You tell the Mesprit that Oak gave you a device earlier that allows you to access your PC Pokemon whenever you feel like it without needing a PC (illegal in trainer battles, obviously). Mesprit then tells you that the culprit is still in the City in the Sky, so you need to go back there. After doing that, Serena is once again being attacked, this time by the same thing that shocked out the Chandelure. It turns out to be...

...Clair, the Johto Gym Leader (not to be confused with Claire). Clair apologizes for the attacks and says she is trying to control the Haxorus, but they keep attacking people at random. Even after Clair caught all of them, they just broke out of their Balls and kept attacking. You ask Pyra to look into their minds to see the problem. Pyra tells you that all she can see is black smoke...just like the one that was controlling the Masked Man! Pyra manages to exorcise the smoke from the three Haxorus and free them from the cloud's control. Just like last time, the black smoke flew off before anyone could stop it. Clair thanks Pyra for freeing the poor Haxorus, and then goes back to the Pokemon Center to heal them. You then realize that all this battling has made you hungry, so you, Serena, Claire, and Winona decide to go eat at the nearby restaurant. However, the restaurant is closed because...

...that some idiot messed up the teleporters in the Gym, and it'll take a while to fix. Thankfully, it shouldn't take more than a day to fix them. She promises to return as soon as the repairs are done. After that, the food came at last. As the group enjoys the fine food, Claire asks you what you plan on doing after getting your 8th Badge and taking on the League. You haven't really thought about that yet. Suddenly, you hear a commotion outside. Apparently...

...the restaurant owner had awoke in a foul mood as he had lost trade due to falling asleep at his desk. He was yelling at the first person he saw which happened to be Elite Four Marshall who is not exactly quiet at the best of times and is trying to tell the restaurant owner it will all be ok. Once you have checked the commotion you tell Claire that part of you does not want to face her when the time comes as she has become one of your best friends over the course of your journey together, the Champion on hearing this adjusts her glasses (Which you have just noticed have red frames) and responds...

...by saying that she wants to battle you because you're her best friend. After all, as serious as a League battle is, it's still a battle. And battles are supposed to be fun. You agree and wish the day would hurry up and end so tomorrow's Gym Battle can begin already. You get your wish via a time skip, so it's already the next day. Before entering the Gym, you decide to use Elizabeth (Nidoqueen) for Sheer Force boosted Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, as well as the two newbies Kira (Mawile) and Slifer (Salamence) for resistance and sheer power, respectively. Before reaching Winona, however, you must first...

...pass a Pokémon related quiz. On enquiring why this is the case Winona simply says it is difficult finding trainers who want to work full time in the Gym these days especially up in the Sky. You accept this explanation. The first asks what type of Pokemon Swanna is? You answer the 'White Bird' Pokemon. The questions get progressively harder until the Final Question asks 'Who is your best friend?' You answer 'Claire' almost immediately. The system tells you you got 100% and you may pass. Winona greets you in a businesslike yet warm manner and sends out a Shiny Skarmory (Turns out Claire helped her catch it yesterday) and you send out...

...Elizabeth. Elizabeth fries Skarmory with Thunderbolt, but it hangs on with Sturdy and lays down some Spikes. Winona uses a Max Potion while Elizabeth takes it back to 1 HP with another Thunderbolt. One Ice Beam later, and Skarmory falls. Winona sends out an Articuno, while you switch out Elizabeth and send out Kira. She takes damage from the Spikes, but then lowers Articuno's Attack with Intimidate. Kira Mega Evolves and goes for Iron Head, but Articuno outspeeds and uses...

...that Winona almosts looks bored, like her thoughts are elsewhere. You're unsure of what to think, but you decide to worry about it later and get back to the battle. You heal Kira while Articuno heals itself with Roost. Articuno uses Hidden Power again, but Kira tanks it as she goes for Swords Dance. After barely tanking one last Hidden Power, Kira OHKOs Articuno with Iron Head. Winona sends out Altaria. You switch out Kira and send out Slifer (thankfully immune to the Spikes Skarmory used earlier), whose Intimidate nerfs Altaria's Attack. You take this chance to heal Kira, while Winona has Altaria use...

...sing after Mega Evolving. It hits and Slifer is fast asleep. As you switch back to Mawile Altaria uses Cotton Guard. It then outspeeds the little Mawile to put it to sleep too. As you wait three turns for Mawile to wake up Altaria maxes its defense. With its now incredibly high Defense you can barely dent the Mega Altaria and worse luck your friends are in the next room watching intently but unable to offer advice. You notice Winona still seems bored, take a deep breath and order Mawile to use...

...Play Rough, hoping for a crit, since crits ignore Defense boosts. It doesn't crit, but it does lower Altaria's Attack even further. You decide that if you can't harm it much Physically, then Special Attacks ought to work. You switch out Kira for Elizabeth. Altaria uses Earthquake, but the Attack drops make it do little damage. Elizabeth almosts KOes with Sludge Wave, and Altaria gets Poisoned and faints to the Poison damage. This is a really lucky thing to happen, since Winona was just about to take out a Full Restore. Before Winona sends out her final Pokemon, you ask her why she seems to be bored with the battle. She says...

...it's her Wedding Anniversary today, and her husband has forgot. Realising this is an unfortunate situation you decide to not press the situation further. As a dramatic version of the Hoenn Gym Leader theme begins to play Winona sends out her final Pokemon Salamence. Winona's Salamence uses Earthquake seriously wounding Elizabeth as your Nidoqueen's Thunderbolt does slight damage. Realising Elizabeth is in a lot of trouble you swap out into Salamence, who gets hit with a Dragon Claw. You curse as Winona tosses her hair. As the two Salamence take to the sky outside the Gym you order your Salamence to...

...set up a Dragon Dance. Winona's Salamence does the same. Slifer sets up another Dragon Dance, but gets hit by the opposing Salamence's Dragon Claw. Healing is pointless, since Slifer will get 2HKOed (and a crit will OHKO), so Slifer unleashes his strongest Dragon Claw. Unfortunately, it barely survived and KOes Slifer with Dragon Claw. Slifer faints with a smile on his face, knowing that he helped weaken the mighty dragon for a teammate to finish off. NO! SLIFER, YOU CAN'T BE DE...oh wait, you don't have Nuzlocke, so Slifer only fainted. You send out Kira to finish it off. The (Mega) Mawile finishes off the Salamence with Sucker Punch, and you win the Roost TM and the Feather Badge, your eighth and final Badge! After using a Max Revive on Slifer and thanking your team for this victory, Winona thanks you for the great battle and tells you...

...that as you now have 8 badges you will now be able to traverse Victory Road. You ask if you can go straight to facing the Elite Four now as they are all near the Gym as is the Champion herself. Claire enters from the next room and informs you that is against the rules. She also tells you that whilst she will be able to accompany your party through Victory Road once you reach the League she will be waiting in the Final Room and you will have to beat all four of the Elite Four...she pauses for a moment and takes off her glasses 'Then you will face me.' You nod and give Claire a hug and thank Winona for the battle. You, Claire and Serena travel to Victory Road and see your wife Sabrina waiting for you, she tells you...

...that she watched your battle on TV and she's proud of you for getting your Badge. She knew you would win, and she didn't need her Psychic powers to tell her that. Also, Saffron Gym is fully functional again, so she doesn't have to be there.. Glad to have your wife traveling with you again and to celebrate your victory, you decide to throw a party before entering Victory Road. Among the guests invited are Professors Oak, Juniper, and Sycamore, Skyla, Clemont and Bonnie (Serena invited them), Erika, Winona, all of their Pokemon, and your childhood friend Giratina. You are surprised, however, to see...
