It still puzzles me as to why everyone is hooked on fire, no matter what game, anything fire related seems to be the most popular. idgi. I'm not against fire though, I'm just saying.

Nah, with millions of new kids born each year it just means more future people for Nintendo to make money off of. So be assured that pkmn will be around for another 20 years....pkmn generation 15 anyone?

what 10 gens in 20 years... that would be a new generation for every 2 years...

I'm not a fire person either, but we have to admit it...fire types are lacking decent representation. I'd say that it was okay in gen 1&2, gen 3 really just took Johto's fire types and only had one or two new ones (numel is from Johto right?), and Gen 4 only had...what one, and it was an evo for an already existing fire type, besides Chimchar and its evos.

I hope they make good pokemon for all the types, but fire needs more pkmn and normal needs more pkmn that aren't destined to be HM slaves.

You know, I'm kinda hoping that the starter is fire/ghost or fire/psychic if the water doesn't have psychic in it. A fire/steel would be neat too.

well I'm sure by 2020 we'll be at Gen 7, so maybe we'll be between gens 10-12 by 2030. Imagine how many pkmn games there would be. If every gen got a pkmn ranger, a remake of a gen two ahead of it, two mystery dungeon games, and a third installment. $$$$$$$$$......**rushes to go buy nintendo stocks****

speaking of that, do you guys think that gen 5 may have a new type of pkmn game, not like PMD or Ranger? I mean what else could they do? I'm sure they'll keep bringing out new rangers and mystery dungeons (and me foolishly buying 'em) till it stops selling. But I seriously think they should come up with a new one by now.

I actually like what I see for once. The Fire Starter is either a Bunny (Fire/Psychic)r Piglet and the Water is a Platypus or an Otter. I am not sure what on earth the Grass one is though.

no numel is hoenn... and you forgot torkoal and numel's evolution, and their's torchic's family that's 6, sinnoh had 5 chimchar family, magmortar, and Heatran...

that is still not a lot of fire types :'(..well Hoenn was good with them..Hoenn had Numel, Torkoal (love u so), Slugma/magcargo, and torchic+2 evos so that would mean 8 fire types.
 
Maybe there are less fire-types because there aren't enough places for them to dwell. Imagine meeting Magmar's in a forest, ironic. If there is a volcanic area like Mt. Chimney or Cinnabar Island, they could at most throw in 5 new fire Pokemon and evolution lines in that region.

Slugma/Magcargo came in Johto, btw.

Slugma and Magcargo are from second generation which means even less fire types!! 6 like Magma said above! Fire/Ghost is awesome but seems a little too...scary for a starter. =/

oh. i only counted the number of pokemon introduced in gen 3 Slugma/magcargo as you know are gen 2, if we count regional than sinnoh had... 8 as well when you add the Ponyta family and Flareon(platinum only)
Waffle san the fire starter looks little like a ghost... at least from the pics... they look like a pig,bird, and otter to me... but maybe one is a Ghost!
We need a torkoal evo... you know something that has always bothered me after they should turtwig they never made a fire turtle starter... but then again a turtle isn't a member of the chinese zodiac... ha more proof for that theory...

true true. but with regions like Sinnoh having a huge mountain in the middle of it..you'd expect some areas in it to be for fire types. Other than that, I'm at least happy that the few fire types we have all are amazing..I prefer small numbers but great pkmn over large in number and horrible (normal types).

and a crocodile wasn't?! or a monkey that had hair of fire....I'm sure most starters would give 2-4 year olds nightmares :shocked:.

Yeah that's another thing, I love Mt. Silver and Mt. Mortar but please, give us one generation off, please don't give us another huge, important mountain. I want to scale the insides of a valley or cliffs or something instead of climbing another mountain. The cliff route in HGSS is pretty awesome and visually stunning!!

Very true, Pipvoda about the starters. Though I've never thought of any of those as scary. :P Now that I think of it, the gen. IV starters were way more mean looking than previous generations. (final evos)

I agree with you 100% it was amazing scenery... now with the new graphics we should be able to see better cliffs roads... BW look like they would have cliff roads... and I'm saying this with no prove but it has that vibe to it...

Haha vibes for the win!! :P Yeah I mean manage taking some cliff route down to some undiscovered Peruvian temple!! But pokemon style of course. :P Yeah I know what you mean though, big cities with big mysterious cliffs near by!!

Torkoal should be brought back. An evo or pre-evo for it would be nice, though I wonder how it would look. Think of it this way, torkoal can blow out as much smoke as a steam train more than likely so his evo would probably put coal power plants to shame.

yeah that's my vision too, we could have a pyramid with a legendary inside... based on a Egyptian god or animal... we had a pyramid already in emerald but this one will be one you can travel around and explore and isn't part of a battle frontier.

Not to mention higher than base 140 defense and an immunity to intimidate cause of white smoke!! Yeah I'm thinking competitive. :P Stupid EQ weakness!
A pre-evo would be so cute too. :-)

Man I loved the Emerald Battle Frontier!! EXCEPT that stupid freaking pyramid!! Either way this sounds totally epic and pokemon worthy. GAMEFREAK!! ASSEMBLE!!

Fire types aren't the only ones that seem to be getting less members as time goes on: new Electrics are dwindling in number.

Rather...interesting silhouettes. Corocoro, you can't come soon enough.
