Fire Starters: Possibly based on Zodiacs, i just cannot figure it out fully because of Typhlosion
Water Starters: Amphibians
Grass Starters: Dinosaurs

is Mew even a girl? speaking of that, I think that you should actually be able to go inside of the fenced areas in daycares in black & white. What are they hiding behind that fence? I mean if it's just your pokemon in there (like always) then we should be given access to it.
it would be neat if the new team, or old if they use say Team Rocket, had a huge base underneath the daycare. they'd be like 'who'd be curious enough to search below a pokemon daycare to find our base?'. Like say they kidnap pokemon that get put in the daycare. Maybe replace them with dolls that look similar to their pokemon that are cross-eyed and drool. some trainers wonder what happened to their pokemon and at one point you go investiage then find out that the daycare man and lady really are grunts in disguise! it's like a soap opera folks :)

how is Empoleon lame? is it the moves he learns? the lack of him just learning one steel type move? what?!

Legendary bugs... one should be a cockroach as they can survive a nuclear war!which is Bug/steel has the defenses of shuckle but good attack the other's praying mantis Bug/fight, and a fire ant with fire/bug.

I like the Cockroach and Fire Ant but the Mantis seems like a Scyther with Heracross attributes.How about a Centipede (Spelling?) Psychic/Bug

it looks like a penguin, if i'm right empoleon is based off of emperor penguins. I'm sure most people don't find it ugly. really, you can believe what you want since it's just your opinion. I for one adore Empoleon.

and obviously Pity is stupid or on drugs...

and yet they pay thousands of dollars to developers to come up with ideas for their games. Not saying developers aren't needed (some pokemon fans ideas are just nuts) but I'm surprised that they haven't thought of this yet.

I think that empoleon is a fancy water pokemon, it looks like it has a fancy tux on,lol, but i like it, i picked it as my starter in platinum and it has the most resistance's of all starter pokemon.
Well back on topic instead of a praying mantis we should have a huge Queen bug that rules all bug type pokemon... it has the parts of a bee, and other queen's in the insect kingdom it could be Bug/psychic.

The chinese zodiac is a Rat (cyndaquil... but it's based on an edchina but it is called the fire mouse...),ox, tiger,rabbit,Dragon(Charmander),snake,horse, sheep, monkey (Chimchar), rooster(torchic!), dog, and Pig(new fire starter?) those all all 12 for those who want to know.

I saw I saw xDD They seem pretty interesting, hearing about the zodiacs made me think of ying-yang.

Maybe we can get 2 dragons as our legendary mascots, one black and one white.

The black one could be dark/dragon, and the white dragon could be either normal/dragon, or psychic/dragon
