Generation V is on an impressive track record! Mature player characters, awesome starters, Zoroark...
The starters are awesome! I'm so glad Nintendo didn't let me down, because I was iffy of those starters at first... But not anymore! :D I would have preferred ditching the repetitive Fire/Water/Grass triangle for once... Maybe next gen... I'll let it go for now since Fire/Water/Grass fits better with the new Gen V starters...
I like how the Grass starter looks cocky (and its silhouette ended up being Grass-type as I expected).
I was not expecting the Pig silhouette to be the Fire starter (I kept on imagining an electric Ampharos-like orb on its tail, so I kept on thinking Water...). Nevertheless, it looks great!! And so cute as well! I'm guessing its evo will be a bulky Fire/Dark raging boar, which has the potential of being awesome! I'm finally glad that I can finally pick a Fire Starter again! The reason I'm going with Turtwig in Platinum instead of my normal Fire-type trend is because Infernape is Fire/Fighting (after I just picked Blaziken in RSE), the flame-tail thing blatantly copies the Charmander line motif, and Turtwig's shell (and Torterra's name and typing) are awesome. Don't get me wrong, Infernape is awesome, it just got introduced in the wrong Gen...
WHY is everyone bashing on Mijumaru (awesome name, btw)??? It looks like it wouldn't hurt a fly...for now... The only quibble I have with it is the shell. If the shell is part of its abdomen, that is just plain weird. If the shell is simply a trinket that it holds constantly, then it becomes so much cuter! Sheesh... [S-HIGHLIGHT]Watch when Mijumaru evolves and pwns all the haters![/S-HIGHLIGHT] And I hope the starters get cool dub names...somebody suggested Pignition earlier, which has a nice sound to it.
The region name Isshu brings "tissue" up to mind, which calls up "bathroom"... :\ Hope the dub name is a bit cooler...
Train tracks within a forest? A construction site? (Animorphs FTW!) This region is looking pretty cool... An underground city would be perfect!
Very glad that the player characters are older! The girl's hair is decent... But never mind her hair, she is freaking HOT!!!(with denim shorts to boot!) And people thought Dawn's skirt was short... (but I guess the new girl won't get as much criticism since she's older)
The boy looks cool as well... The only negatives are that he looks a bit too reminiscent of Lucas's Platinum outfit, and there's too much brown on his face (hair+eyes seem to clash a bit)... And the Poke Ball logo on the hats looks too...elongated, I guess... And the blue/turquoise combo is beginning to bug me more often... When I first saw the guy's overworld sprite, I thought he'd have light brown spiky hair all around with a dark gray outfit with red accents...
I really hope Zoroark can be obtained in a non-event-dependent method... Can we please do away with those in Generation V? Not everyone has Wi-Fi, and not everyone can get to certain stores all the times... I'd like it if, aside from version exclusives, all Pokemon were obtainable in-game. The only exception is that the would-be event Pokemon are accompanied with rigorous requirements to fulfill...
The funny thing is that after all this time, I am still trapped in Generation III... I'm going to try to refrain from looking at too many new Pokemon ahead of time, so Generation V can retain its apparent greatness that is to come! :D
