Fairs enoughs, renders can be cool cause you have more freedom I guess in terms of what sort of effects or whatever you want.
Yup, its easier for me.
Oh, and does anyone know a good place to download brushes, effects and other stuff like that? All my art stuff was on my old computer D;

Deviantart.com has heaps of resources, just search for whatever you want and you'll find stuff.

DA is the best place to go but a pro's advice would be "Don't rely on brushes to make your effects etc.". So be careful, you should try out some graphic communities such as Planet Render and FringeFX too.

I'll try FringeFX since I know Planet Render. ^^

Well PR doesn't only have renders, they have a nice resource section on the forum too. It's perfectly fine if you discuss those communities here though so don't worry about the forum linking thing, just don't link unless it's completely necessary and useful. In any case, try them, download some packs, take some tutorials and get going. I'm working on a little something for beginners through to advanced members atm which will be finished when I'm not lazy :3

Oh, I guess I'll check it out then XD

Sounds interesting :3

As well as Deviantart, Planet Render and FringeFX, you should go to animerender.com it has some really good resources too and is my personal favorite place for renders.

Would anyone be interested in seeing/starting one of these again? Of course it would require a lot of updating but I would be offering my help, I just don't have the time to run it myself, alone. I think it was a useful thread and whoever would be willing to take it on would have a nice sticky thread :3

I have a smallish question, is Photoshop easier to use then Gimp?
I've used Gimp for 2 years now and its fairly easy, but I'm thinking of downloading Photoshop.

Photoshop is pretty much the cream of the crop for digital stuff and it's pretty user friendly. But I mean, everything is going to be difficult to learn when you're switching from another program. I remember using GIMP once after using Photoshop for a while and being confused out of my mind. But yeah, I definitely think Photoshop is worth the download since it has a lot more capabilities than GIMP.

Is there a way to download Photoshop free? Or does it cost money?

You can download a 30 day free trial but after that, how you get the full version is up to you. There are a few methods though..

Portable versions of PS or any adobe product for that matter is free, but illegal. Most artists don't buy the product through to tell you the truth

Oh, don't you need to create an account on the site to download the trial version?

And does anyone know how to do a clipping mask in Gimp? I tried following a tut but I got lost in it @_@
