At Broadway Church of KC, we hold it to be true that all people are spiritual beings on a human journey, rather than human beings on a spiritual journey. We are a Baptist church that honors the Christian traditions, embraces rationality and the scientific process, recognizes the context-bound nature of all understanding, and works to honor and include the best of these stages of understanding while transcending the limited and limiting aspects of them.
Humanity, of all the living beings on Earth, is uniquely able to awaken to an identification with the Ground or Source of existence; we are evolution that has become conscious of itself. Fundamentally, the only difference between luminaries like Christ or Buddha and the rest of us is that they consciously manifested their divine nature. In keeping with this, we have many paintings that depict Spirit and its evolution in and through humanity, like this work by Alex Gray.
