I'd like to be a Gym Leader in Heiwa....

Name: Fierro
Trainer Class: Gym Leader (Sunmedi Town)
Hometown: Sunmedi Town
Employment: None
Education: Elementary School, Dropped out of high school
Age: 23
Background: Fierro is a young man That was born in The silent Sunmedi Town, but was very poor and his parents started doing crimes, so they moved into Port Fortuna, where he got beaten up by Gangsters, brought down by life but his fiery passion kept him alive and burning, so he trained his beloved Larvesta with all the struggles and gained after a long time the Fire-Type Gym positon in his Hometown, Sunmedi.

Team:
Initial: Torkoal, Fletchlinder, Numel, Larvesta
Rematch: Talonflame, Typhlosion, Camerupt, Rapidash, Torkoal, Volcarona

Might be a good idea to keep your own canon ticking over, especially with the hack in mind as a huge layout change might be hard to work in! :)

That's what I was thinking! It will make things a lot easier for everyone involved when it comes to playing in the region if they don't have to suddenly learn a new layout and/or modify the stories they were telling with their players.

Welcome! I'll definitely accept you as a trainer, but Gym Leader applications are on hold/pending reworking as the region is getting updated. (:

alt timeline goooo

It gives me sooooo many ideas for all kinds of alternate storylines full of disaster in a normally idyllic region. (;

The Second Wave

The northern areas were underwater--some were hoping that the first wave would be the last. But tsunamis are never just a single wave.

Coming from slightly south of the first, Itsaso never stood a chance against it. The floating town was promptly swept aside and destroyed, with only the sand of the atoll left, as if the town had never been there. As the wave continued towards Vivre and Loreak, it was clear that this wave was much more powerful than before.

Striking the island and its children, the wave decimated the islands surrounding Loreak, sinking them beneath the sea. The high cliffs near Loreak stopped much of the damage, but Vivre was not so lucky. The marshes were absolutely swamped, and farms swept away. The distance the wave had to cross prevented major structural damage but the entire city and countryside were flooded. This would not be a good year for the farmers that called Vivre home.

Thankfully, this was the last of the destruction that Regigigas' awakening would bring. Only now the true challenge for Heiwa would begin: rebuilding what was lost.

[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region

And the final changes to the layout have happened! Here's a look at what's gone down:

[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region

To match these layout changes a new map will be released, featuring new cities and routes! And stay tuned for Part 2: Rebuilding.

Oh great. I just appeared in a destroyed city. well i guess that just means I can help rebuild :D
unless the others got to it before me.

Happy New Year all. Things will be happening here when I can get it together, I promise.

Anyway, by popular vote the Regigigas/Tsunami stuff is now considered an alternate timeline. Basically, it could have happened and we can see how a crisis might be handled in the future, but otherwise it didn't actually happen. So, the region still has its original layout and people.

Coming soon: revised exploration.

Explore Heiwa ~ The Trainer System (v2.0 - W.I.P.)

Introduction

So you're a member of the region. Now what? Well, the Trainer System brings a bit of a role-playing aspect to the region. Your character will start as a novice trainer in the town of your choice. Depending on the town, you'll have different starter Pokémon available to you. From there, you're on your own. Do you want to explore the insides of a cave? Challenge a Gym Leader? Maybe you just want to go to the salon? Everything that Heiwa has to offer, you can give it a try.

Go At Your Own Pace (How to Play)

The fundamental difference between this version of the Trainer System and the old one is that unlike before players will be responsible for their own characters. Before, I had this silly system where I made you all wait for updates and it was all on me. No more. Now, you decide the outcome of your actions. As Game Master, I will simply let you know what's going on around you (and do some major battles with you on the Showdown server, should you want me to).

Daily Actions

Every day, you're able to take one or two major actions. They are limited in number each day because otherwise a person could beat everything in a single day, which is no fun for anyone. Here is a list of simple major actions, but you're free to try more if you can think of one.
  • Train the Team - Spend some time with your Pokémon, battling some NPCs and the hordes of wild Pokémon just ready to fight. When you decide to train, you battle with the goal increasing the level of your team. This is a broad type of training with small level gains as you give every Pokemon equal training.
    • Train X, Y, and Z - Spend some time with a specific few Pokémon on your team. Hey, some of your Pokémon may not be happy being left out but at least the few you focus on will level up faster.
  • Catch Something - Interested in the Pokémon in the area? Try your luck with catching one! Good luck. ;)
  • Travel - Move to a new location. The water not working out for you? The water's always bluer elsewhere.
  • Challenge an Elite Trainer - This will mostly be the Gym Leaders at the start, but there are lots of powerful Trainers just itching for a challenge. And don't forget the Elite Four, provided you have all the badges. Elite Trainers are the only ones that must be battled on the Showdown server in order for your victory to count.
Minor Actions

These actions are simple actions that you can do whenever you feel like it (just don't be "that guy" that does like 50 in a day). They are usually rather mundane, like visiting a shop, swapping a Pokémon, battling a generic NPC (which doesn't need to be on Showdown), etc. I won't list any more but I'm sure you can figure out whether an action is considered "major" or "minor."

Being Reasonable

You can't win it all. This isn't a video game. Try to remember that when you decide whether you were able to catch that rare Pokemon, defeat that NPC trainer, or raise the entire team six levels. Those that decide it's OK for their character to never lose will find themselves with some rotten luck. So let's not find out what happens, yeah?

Wait for the Game Master

Whenever you take a major action, there will likely be consequences (both good and bad). This is where I, the Game Master, come in. You travel to a new area, you're going to want to know what kinds of Pokemon and Trainers are nearby, no? Well, I can provide a list for you. You want to open up a shop? Then you'll be talking to me.

You'll be responsible for a lot of the outcomes of your actions. I am simply here to make sure that you don't move too fast or abuse the system too much.

In addition, I will keep the game world moving whether you're with it or not. Maybe a festival is happening in Loreak City. Maybe the Kimono Girls are putting on a special show in Ombra Town. Maybe Professor Totora is giving away special Pokemon to the first three trainers to arrive. Things are always going on in Heiwa!

[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region
[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region

As usual, Trainers can have up to six Pokémon on their team. No exceptions (for now). Any more Pokémon you catch are sent to the PC, which can hold an unlimited number of Pokémon. Just don't forget what you've caught, because I won't keep track of it for you!

The Pokédex

[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region

All beginning trainers start with a Heiwaian Regional Pokédex. One of the challenges for a trainer is to discover every Pokémon that they can within the region. Doing so will surely lead to good things. The current list of known Pokemon can be found here.

Earning a National Pokédex, due to the nature of this system, cannot be earned by finding all the Pokémon (let's be real, there's no way everyone is keeping track of finding 200+ Pokémon). Instead, it will be given away as a prize during various events or as a reward for beating the Elite Four. And trust me, you'll want a National Pokédex.

The Bag

[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region

All trainers have a a bag that they can use to store items. There aren't any limits on what you can put in there, and it's on you to keep track of what you have.

All trainers start with the following items:
5 Poké Balls
3 Potions

Money

Heiwa uses the standard Pokédollars for all monetary transactions. Beginning trainers start with
[PokeCommunity.com] The Heiwa Region
3000 that they can use for any purpose, including buying items from stores and paying other trainers for losses. Money can be obtained through winning battles, contests, working, etc.

Coming soon: formulas you can use for money transactions (we do need some stability here).

Collectibles

Right now, there are three types of prizes you can unlock during your exploration of the region: gym badges, contest ribbons, and trainer classes. There will be a master post keeping track of who has what (think of it as a leaderboard). The more collectibles you have, the higher your ranking in the region!

Gym Badges

Just like most regions, there are eight badges to be earned in Heiwa! They can only be obtained by defeating a Gym Leader, which I promise will be no easy task.

Contest Ribbons

You win ribbons by taking part in contests. This feature is still a work-in-progress, so you can't earn ribbons yet!

Trainer Classes

By exploring various locales, capturing specific Pokémon, obtaining badges, and more, you can unlock a number of Trainer Classes. Trainer Classes are purely cosmetic titles that can be applied next to a trainer's name, and you can decide which one you want displayed by your name in the leaderboards. Here is a list of trainer classes and the ways you can earn them.
  • Novice - The default trainer class, you unlock this just by starting the game.
  • Youngster/Lass - An easy class to unlock, just catch a second Pokémon!
  • Fisher(man) - Go fishing.
  • Pokémon Trainer - Win all eight badges.
  • Contest Star - Win the Grand Festival.
  • Pokémon Master - Do everything you can possibly do.
Getting Started

Getting started is easy! Just pick your hometown (which can be anywhere but Vittoria City) and select an appropriate starter Pokémon (which will be level 5) for your hometown (see the list below), and you're good to go! Your journey is in your hands!

Here I Go (Again) On My Own

x. I'm done just sitting in Solitario, waiting for Mom to think I'm old enough to do anything. She's never around anyway, so how would she know if I've "matured enough"? I'm sixteen now. Everyone else has left and come back again- for what reason, I have no idea- but I haven't even gotten to leave.

Well, sorry, Mom. You're not deciding my life for me anymore. Sorry, Dad, you're going to have to deal with that fallout. You always advocated for me. But not hard enough. I'm taking Zazzle and heading to Ranger HQ. I know what I want to do with my life. It's about time I started doing it.

Onward to Solitario Sea!
& trained Zazzle for +3

I'll join. Because why not.
Name: Nartov
Interest Level: Role-player
Pokémon: Budew
Starting Location: Loreak City
Role: Technically, a pokemon trainer.
Backstory: Nartov's family were homeless. They had no money, and most of the time they had to steal food from grocery stores just to survive. Finally, Nortov's parents told Nortov this. "Go out there, son, and make money for us. We don't care how you do it, break the law if you have to. I know this is a daunting task, us sending you out to make money with nothing. But we have faith in you." Before heading out, his father gave him something moving in a plastic bag. Nortov then started traveling, far, far away with a pokemon in a plastic bag.

Oh cool, a new trainer system. quick question, can you get chickorita anywhere? or do you need to get it as a starter?

Anyway, I pick wingull as my starter.

It is a starter choice for Primaria City, and Professor Totora will also have random giveaways of the starters too. And if you want to start with a Wingull you'll be starting your journey in Itsaso Town, OK?

Name: Thomas ???
Interest Level: Character/Role-player
Pokémon: Snorunt
Starting Location: Elurte Town
Role: An Adventurer. While he is a Pokemon Trainer, his real interest for traveling around Heiwa is to find its undiscovered secrets.
Backstory: Thomas, was born in Elurte Town, Elurte Island. When he was young, he found a crevice in a nearby mountain that led to an alcove with old drawings on the walls. Since then, he has had a deep fascination with mysteries and secrets. When he was old enough he set off on his own, he left his hometown to discover the secrets of Heiwa with his companion, Snorunt, in tow.

Age: 18

Thomas 2nd Edition is in the game :)

I'm Sailing Away

x. Solitario Sea is nothing unfamiliar to me. Suzko Sea is hardly any different. But Ombra Town? That could be the first interesting place I end up on this journey. I'm sure there's more to do there than in Solitario. I wonder what kinds of people and Pokémon live over there?

Continue on to Suzko Sea.
Arrive in Ombra Town.

Hey, Heiwa looks really great! I really like your ideas and that you are going to make a hack out of it. But I have some question about the timelines:
Is this just a hack thing and how are you going to make the player experience the alternate timelines? :)
