    The Island in the Sky *Flying-type club* Rules Up-dated as of Mar.30 2011.

    Welcome to the island in the sky, when we will discuss flying pokemon!
    To prevent problem, this club will feature ONLY pokemon that are flying-typed or can learn Fly.​

    Be sure to read the rules!​

    Rules:
    Of course, all Pokecommunity rules are in place here.
    To join, use the following sheet:​

    Name?
    Why do you want to join?
    Partners? (you can have up to 6 from the list & this is optional.)​

    Anyone can make a new topic at any time. (make sure it's about the pokemon on the list!)
    Please don't pester me about adding new pokemon to the list.
    You can choose the following as your partners.
    (again, up to 6.)
    Pikacu & Raichu are added because Pikachu can learn Fly VIA special methods & can evolve into Raichu.​

    Would you like to see a Gym leader that specializes in flying-types that are not birds?
     
    I would most DEFINTLY want to see at least 1...
    EVERY SINGLE Flying-type Gym leaders so far specializes in birds...

    Togetic/Togekiss are not birds. Randomly speaking, I'd like to see a gym leader that has a team of Togekiss. :P

    Yes! The Hoppip Family aren't birds but are Flying types so I would love to see a gym leader using these Pokemon!

    Hmm.. Which Pokemon would such a gym have? Pokemon like Butterfree, Crobat and Salamence? I'd say no, because we generally associate such Pokemon with their primary types. The birds are well suited, and can be equally challenging anyway.

    In that case, there'd be NO flying-type gyms...
    Because ONLY Tornadus has Flying listed as it's first type.
    All the birds have flying as their SECOND type.
    Examples:
    Pidgeot (& several other birds) is Normal THEN Flying, Skarmory is Steel THEN Flying.

    No, that is not what I meant. I meant that certain Pokemon are recognised by a specific type. For example, even though Crobat is Poison/ Flying, I'd find it odd if it was present in a Flying Type gym. There's nothing wrong in it, just that it would suit Crobat better if it was used in a Poison type gym. I hope you understood what I meant? Same case for Butterfree and Dragonite.

    Actually, a few exceptions exist as well. For example, on the fourth rematch with Winona in Pokemon Emerald, she uses a Dragonite.

    I would reconize Jumpluff, Salamence & Drifblim as primary Flying types...
    Drifblim & Jumpluff for riding the winds, Salamence because of it's line long-held dream of flying.

    I would also like to see a team of Hoppip, Skiploom and Jumpluff, but they're more suitable for a grass-type gym. Bug types such as Flygon and Butterfree are also good choices for Flying-type gym leaders.

    I think this is one question asked really frequently, but still, it's quite interesting. XD;

    I'll have Togekiss... for this is the pokemon of whom my name will feature forever on Pokecommunity.
    & it's a pretty dang good pokemon!
    I wonder how well it'll do on 5th gen OU...

    Mine would be Unferzant (the male form). It's so pretty, and I can make good use of its moves. Unferzant can also make a good forever friend.

    I'd have Altaria I guess. It is really fluffy and cute and would make a good, soft pillow other than being used for flying to distant places. <3
