Sahib looked at the other trainers, and jumped slightly when a loud explosion blasted out behind them. Sahib whipped around and saw that Grecko was backing out with his Pokémon in tow. His Blastoise shot a stream of water that easily shut off the only exit from the ruins. Grecko wasted no time as he whistled. Four large Pokémon flew down from the sky, a few of which Sahib recognized. Two were a Fearow and a Dragonite, but he didn't believe he had ever seen the other two before.

"My Dragonite and a few of my friend's Pokémon!" he yelled, quickly explaining. "Get on them and go, now!" he shouted once more. Suddenly the black cloaked man broke through the crashed barrier. Sahib turned to the closest Pokémon. It just so happened to be Fearow, and Liliana just so happened to be getting on it as well.

"I told you we'd see each other again!" she yelled over the increasing sounds around her as she got onto the Fearow.

"Isn't that wonderful," Sahib stated, raising an eyebrow at her. He then swung onto the bird in front of her, not bothering to do that funky thing that guys sometimes did. You know where they get on in back and press all close and stuff? He thought that would be rather awkward.

"You almost sound as if you're not happy to see me." She said and he almost seemed to laugh.

"Oh don't take it personally, I'm just not really…" he trailed off looking for a word.

Liliana decided to provide a few for him. "Sociable? Likable? Intelli—" Suddenly the bird flew straight into the air, away from the ruins.

Sahib suddenly felt her arms wrap around his waist as she clung to him rather tightly. It seemed as though she was clinging for dear life or something similar. The moment she clung to him, Sahib stiffened rather noticeably. He swallowed heavily and slowly relaxed, peering back at her. Right…he thought to himself, maybe…maybe having a friend and being…Sahib turned his head back around, looking away from her. He frowned at the sky, and stayed silent. He hoped she didn't take his reaction offensively, but he was more thoughtful about the whole friend factor.

That was when Sahib noticed something around Fearow's neck. He plucked it off and found it appeared to be a note of sorts. I dunno…it's a note, he thought in slightly amusement as he carefully opened it. He read slowly what Elm had written, drinking in each and every word.

I just wanted to let you know that it is of utmost importance for you to continue your journey. I know what you have just been though and you must have your doubts about continuing. But you must become stronger. You must continue challenging the gyms. Be on your guard and train. I will speak to you soon.
I truly hope none of this will happen to you again.

Professor Elm

As he read it, Sahib felt Liliana's chin dangerously close to his shoulder. He decided better on turning around, for fear that…well, he pushed that thought aside when suddenly Fearow gave a great lurch. She squeaked and clung to him again, but this time he didn't stiffen quite so much.

"Hey, what's that?" she questioned finally.

"A note from Professor Elm," Sahib replied. He glanced at her briefly and then handed her the note. She snatched it from his hand and began to read. Sahib stayed silent, deciding not to interrupt her.

After that, there was a fair bout of an awkward silence. Sahib wasn't really sure of what to say, so he stuck with what he knew how to do best—stay silent. The Fearow slowly began to lose height at first, and then began a rather rapid descent towards the ground below. Just when they both (or so Sahib assumed) thought they were about to crash, the Fearow pulled up and landed rather roughly on the ground. Sahib quickly jumped off the side, happy to be free of the basic anxiety of sitting up there with her.

"You know you're supposed to help a girl, right?" Liliana questioned in a joking matter. Sahib pretended not to notice the joke.

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry," he said dryly. "Does the little miss need help?" Sahib held up his arms. There was a rather amused look on his face as he did so. "Go on. Leap in them like they do in the movies," he offered, a tiny smirk hinting at the corner of his lips.

Liliana smiled. "You know you're terrible at this gentlemanly stuff." Sahib watched as she swung her leg over the bird and slid down. He let his arms fall to his sides. He snickered when she almost tripped over her own feet, making herself look rather klutzy and clumsy.

"Are you generally this clumsy?" he asked in an amused tone.

"Only if I've just flown on a giant bird," she replied. "How about you? Do you never laugh?" she questioned, watching him with a fair bit of a cheeky look in her eyes.

Sahib moved away from her almost immediately. "Generally not around people." He wanted to sigh, why did she have to ask that? People weren't really one of Sahib's biggest things. He loved his parents, sure he did. But other people…well…ever since he was about eleven, not so much. Sahib looked at her and found she looked straight back at him. He turned away once more to look at their surroundings. He didn't notice, but Liliana patted the bird on its head and it flew away in a gust of wind and a heavy beat of its large wings.

"There we go again. The walls go up. You act as if you have the entire world on your shoulders. You're not Atlas, so lighten up!"

Sahib turned towards her abruptly, feeling rather…odd. "Why are you so happy?" he blurted suddenly. He snapped his mouth shut and looked away, muttering a slight apology. She probably thinks I'm the biggest dickhead in the world, Sahib thought dryly. "I mean…" he began in a meek attempt to fix it. "Forget it."

"No, I won't forget. I'm happy, because being depressed won't help me. I'm happy because there are things to be happy about, like the fact I'm still alive. I'm happy because there is no point in retreating inside yourself. You know, one day, all those emotions you have built up in there," she shoved him where his heart was. "They are going to explode." She glared at him angrily.

Sahib smiled at her, but it came out twisted at bitter. "People say I don't have any of those, nor a heart for that matter." His voice was so matter-of-fact, that Sahib was surprised himself. He watched as Liliana slowly grew angrier. Sahib glanced away, and then turned his attention back on her. "That's why I like Pokémon better. That's why I don't laugh around people. That's why I stay to myself…because people just hurt. We're so flawed we don't even realize what we have in front of us," Sahib stated. He met her angry look with his own even gaze. "That's why I'm so blind," he finished his little speech.

"Bullshit!" she yelled. "I don't care what people say. And I don't care that you are blind. Or you think you are blind for that matter. You are not heartless! Heartless is that…that…Monster! The one that killed Falkner, that's heartless!" Her voice cracked and she turned away. Sahib stared at her silently, feeling something well up inside him that made him regret making her sad. "You know what. I'm trying to be your friend because…" Liliana trailed off, leaving Sahib curious. "You know what, you forget it. I'm going to look for a new addition to my team, we need it."

It stayed silent for a while. Liliana was gazing up a tree. Sahib figured it was a fairly sad attempt to seem as though she was searching for a Pokémon. He felt bad for making her feel bad, and he didn't like that. God dammit, he thought, women are so confusing! With a soft sigh, he figured he'd better get to the bottom of this.

"Why do you want to be my friend?" Sahib said it very softly she almost couldn't understand him, that much he knew. He blamed his father for that quietness, but otherwise didn't really care. He raised his voice a little bit. "Answer me that and… I'll… try." She turned around. Sahib felt very confused. Many emotions seemed to be rushing through him, but he couldn't quite figure out what. Liliana smiled then.

"I want to be your friend because everyone needs a friend. Everyone deserves someone to be their friend." She said it gently, she was afraid he'd put up his walls again. Sahib honestly couldn't blame her for that, so he didn't comment. "And yes, that includes you. Also maybe because I'm just this good Samarian or something." She laughed shakily in a weak attempt at a joke.

Sahib chuckled softly. "Well, I don't know if I can have such a short friend." Sahib saw something that almost seemed like a rush of excitement flash across her face. Then it was replaced with a fairly careful one.

"Hey, that's not very nice! If you weren't so abnormally tall then there would be no problem!" Sahib smirked, finding that little bit to be slightly true. It wasn't his fault that his father was close to six feet five inches tall. "Anyway, are you going to help me find an Aipom or are we going to stand here all day?"

"I'll suppose I'll help you find one. Hmm. Why don't you try the one in that tree?" Sahib asked, a bit amused as he pointed behind her. And yes. There in the tree she had pretended to observe was an Aipom. The thing seemed to have been watching for quite a while. Sahib vaguely wondered if she noticed.

"I knew he was there!" She laughed, he was definitely not buying that. Sahib had a funny feeling that she was very bad at cover ups. "Fine then, Shinx, come out." She sprayed her with a potion so she could go on to fight. "Could you please get that monkey down with a spark?" The little feline sent out a little stream of electricity that hit its mark. The Aipom did indeed fall out of its tree, and it wasn't very happy about being harassed like that.

So during the entire battle, Sahib found that it was his important duty to comment on the entire thing. He found at the beginning he was being slightly mean, but in the end she ended up hitting it with a Pokeball. This earned her a "Well, look at that, you managed to throw the ball properly. Point for you." She turned and mustered up a rather nasty glare in his direction as her Pokeball shook.

"Ugh... I feel like a Snorlax just sat on top of me" Kaitlyn groaned as she slowly started to awaken, the dizzying effects from what ever had knocked her out slowly began to wear off "Why is it so damn dark?" she wondered aloud, twisting her head from side to side, trying to figure out what was going on, until she felt the soft strip of cloth on her eyes, she was blindfolded! It also didn't help that when she tried to move, her limbs refused to work properly, apparently, she was tied to something, she also began to hear other voices as well, cries and screams for help, this made Kaitlyn angry as she struggled in her bonds, calling out as well, though they weren't exactly cries of help.

"Sick bastard! What the hell, do you get off on this kinda stuff or something!? Trapping and tying innocent kids up, how dare you!" she scowled in her bonds, wondering what in the world was going on here and who the hell had the audacity to tie her up. It was in the moment of silence, that she began to hear footsteps, that had grown closer and then stopped, seconds later the blindfold was being removed from her eyes. Kaitlyn blinked for a few seconds, trying to see straight, before she studied whatever she was held in, she was in... a chair, tied to a chair, in a cave with weird markings and writings on the wall, she noticed the letter in her lap, it read "End of the Line" and her Pokéballs sitting on the table in front of her, tauntingly, since she was unable to move.

This made her struggle in her bonds tighter "Ohh just you wait til I get out of here you creepy bastard! I'm gonna knock your damn teeth in!" she was too angry to notice the other people at the moment, blinded by her fit of rage, a voice murmured in a amusement "Maybe we should've put a muzzle on this one" she knew they were talking about her and it angered her, a lot.

"I dare you! Go ahead and put a muzzle on me, you'll find my foot shoved so far up the crack of your @$$ you'll cough up my shoe laces!" she heard the voice chuckle but they said nothing, causing Kaitlyn to huff in annoyance as she stopped struggling, finding it was no use. Glancing around, she noticed a bunch of other people, whom she assumed were the kids Professor Elm sent out "Most of them are practically babies!" she scanned the faces of the scared looking kids, she had a bad feeling about this, why would he round them all up in one place like this.

Kaitlyn struggled again, for a third time, but it proved useless, her bonds were extremely taut "I stand by my previous comment, you guys are a bunch of sick bastards" honestly, why the hell were these ropes so damn well knotted. . . It was then she noticed a cloaked trainer appeared before them, though he wasn't wearing all white like the other guy had been, he was decked out in black and she noticed and couldn't help but speak out "Jesus, what the hell is with you weirdo's and cloaks... you some kinda cult" the cloaked trainer said nothing, turning his head briefly in her direction before looking forward, he began to talk.

"Look at all of you, so helpless its hilarious.. Part of me just wants to let you go and see how far you would make it without your Pokémon." Kaitlyn scowled, she believed she could make it a bit far, even without her Pokémon, she wasn't extremely helpless "But instead I think it would be better if you really feel how inferior your power is compared to ours.." The man saids with a diabolical cackle, she noticed a cloaked trainer in white appeared behind each of them and releases their bonds, she watched as most of the kids scrambled towards their Pokéballs and Kaitlyn did the same.

"So we meet again Spitfire" she could hear the taunting smirk in his voice.

"Stuff it you cultist bastard" Kaitlyn scowled at the cloaked man, before releasing her Pokémon from their capsules, the all looked confused for a few moments, until they spotted Kaitlyn and crowded around her with cheerful smiles "Aww, isn't that sweet" he called out from in front of them and her Pokémon stiffened and got into a stance, forming an arch around her "Cut the crap, just bring out your damn Pokémon"

"As you wish" he mocked and Kaitlyn seethed, watching as he pulled a ball from his cloak and tossed it down on the field, a tall, brown Pokémon that resembled a coconut tree appeared. It had thick legs with two-toed feet and three to six round, light-yellow heads that looked like coconuts.

The Coconut Pokémon
It is called "The Walking Jungle." If a head grows too big, it falls off and becomes an Exeggcute.

"Alright you guys's go! Serena use Gust! Snoopy use Ice Fang! Sho, use Thunder Wave!" all three of her Pokemon nodded and fired their respective attacks, with only Sho receive damage from his, Kaitlyn decided, that she was gonna train the little guy so he could learn to shock things without hurting himself when this was all over.

The cloaked man stood there calmly as all the combined attacks swirled towards his Pokemon, he sighed boredly and commanded his Exeggutor to use Egg Bomb "Exeggutor!" The Coconut Pokemon nodded and opened its mouth, firing a large egg shaped projectile at the combined attacks, they all exploded when the bomb hit, leaving the attack null and void "Grr Serena use Poison Powder!" her Butterfree nodded and flapped its wings, allowing a purple toxic dust to cover Exeggutor's side of the field "Ingrain" Exeggutor nodded and its toes began to glow green and then several vine shot out and wrapped around his legs, and even thought he had inhaled the poison, he didn't look fatigued at all "Egg Bomb!"

Serena was caught off guard when the Exeggutor fired another Bomb, this time it was aimed at her! She was too slow to dodge it and Serena soon when up in smoke, crying out in pain before she fell to the ground with a thud, Serena had fainted "Serena!" she quickly recalled her fallen Butterfree and turned back to Snoopy and Sho, both were just as shocked as she was, to see her Pokemon being taken down in one hit.

"We just have to try harder! It can't move since its using Ingrain you two, but its still poisoned too! Now get in there, dodge whatever attacks he throws at you, then Snoopy I want you to use Ice Fang on his head and Sho I want you to use ThunderShock, it can't block both of you" Sho and Snoopy nodded, both running towards Exeggutor, who stood there sapping nutrients and health from the soil "Snubbull!" Snoopy was the first to reach the Coconut, opening his mouth and attacking with Ice Fang, the head's seemed to affected by the attack, causing them to wince slightly "Keep it up Snoopy!"

Her Snubbull nodded and continued to bite with his frozen fangs "Pichu!" Sho had appeared next, ready to use ThunderShock, but the cloaked man stepped into action "Hypnosis" Exeggutor stared down at Sho, who was about to use his attack, but suddenly the Pichu felt drowsy and it fell asleep, right where it stood, Sho was sleeping unprotected infront of Exeggutor "Zen Headbutt!"

"Get off of his head Snoopy!" It was too late, Snoopy was too slow to get away and he wound up getting knocked off Exeggutor's head, landing right next to the sleeping Sho but he didn't faint, he was in a lot of pain, but refused to go down just yet "Egg Bomb!" Exeggutor fired another egg shaped bomb at them, but Snoopy was quick enough to grab Sho just in time and move out of the way, they were caught in the blast though and the loud explosion managed to wake Sho up, who stared in horror as he watched Snoopy go down for the count "P-Pichu!"

Kaitlyn ran over to her fallen Snubbull and picked him up in her arms "Snoopy!" the man chuckled "Hehe face it kid, give up... all you've got left is that wimpy Pichu of yours and it can't even attack me without hurting itself, the only Pokemon that actually stood a chance was your Snubbull, annoying little bastard, managed to get a few good hits in with that Ice Fang" Kaitlyn glared angrily at the man, but she knew he was right, she glanced down at Sho, who was trembling from his spot behind her legs "Pichuuu" the baby looked up at Kaitlyn with wide teary eyes and Kaitlyn frowned, before sighing sadly and picking up Sho, cuddling him in her arms. "I... I give up" she muttered looking away from the man, who laughed.

She had lost.

"Help!"

Kenneth moaned twisting in whatever position he was in. He licked his lips as his head moved to the left and he started to snore again.

"What's going on!?!"

His head jerked and he angrily mumbled angrily, "It's too early, give me another hour…"

"Let me go!"

His shook his head as he tried to get rid of the voices, but failed. They were distant at first but as his consciousness came back they got louder and louder until he realized that whoever was yelling out was in the same room. He also noticed that he couldn't see. He panicked.

"NOOOO! I'm blind, why!? I was so young!!!" He called out. He struggled to move but found that his arms were bound behind his back. He started to yell out but a voice stopped him.

"It's pointless to scream." The voice was bitter and to Kenneth, sounded a little hopeless. He didn't like that, giving up before trying anything. He struggled harder to free himself from the ropes, forgetting the fact that he was 'blind'. However the more he struggled the more the skin on his wrist ripped and soon a little trickle of blood was running down his right hand.

He stopped, tried of pushing and pulling and tried to think. 'Dammit, this isn't good and once again all of us from Prof. Elm's are held up in some situation again.' He sighed and lowered his head giving the ropes another try. 'I wonder where they've got us...' In the darkness he looked around in the direction of a few grunts as the others tried to get free as well. Then there were footsteps.

No knowing what to expect each step sounded like a tick to the countdown of something very bad. As they get closer Kenneth's body froze as well as his mind. He felt something slip from his face and he noticed that he could see again, though the lighting hadn't changed.

He glanced from side to side seeing the other trainers. Their eyes too moved frantically around taking in every detail of the cave. It was dimly lit and along the wall of the cave there were strange markings and lettering. The letters resembled that of the alphabet only deformed in a way and each letter seemed to have an eye.

Looking away from the wall, he found his pokeballs sitting in from of him, just out of reached. His legs were bound like his arms so he could move to get to them. In his lap laid the letter that the cloaked man had given him. It was unfolded so he could clearly read the message.

"End of the line…?" The bad feeling that he had been feeling since he had woken up was now confirmed and a wave of dread washed over him. He tried his best to shake it off; he didn't want to appear scared in front of the others. He looked to them. Some of them were still screaming while others attempted to free themselves from the ropes. Their expressions were either that of shock, determination or fear. Though, it still lightened Kenneth's spirits to see that he was not alone.

Kenneth lowered his head and began to think. He thought of any possibility of getting free from the ropes and reaching his pokemon. Then he got an idea. He glanced over to one of his pokeballs and spotted the one where Lily rested inside. Of all his pokemon, she was the only one who could easily break out of her ball and if he could get her out, she could free the other trainers' pokemon and set them free. It was the only thing he could do and he started to yell out to her as a man with a black cloak appeared in the middle of them.

Kenneth grimaced feeling the same feeling that he had gotten from the man in black the night Falkner was murdered. He could tell that this man in front of him was the same man and he was started to get pissed off. Once again he struggled against the ropes with more strength than he had before. He grinded his teeth together as he tried harder to break free. More streams of blood flowed down into his hands as the rope rubbed away his skin and tore into his flesh, but he ignored the pain.

The man laughed. "Look at all of you. It's entertaining how all of you are so vulnerable. You know, part of me just wants to see how far you all would make it if I took away your pokemon, but no…" He flashed a smile at them. "Instead I think this will be a fine chance to show you just how inferior your power is compared to ours…" He snapped as he let out a maniacal laugh.

A cloaked trainer appeared behind Kenneth and started to untie him. As soon as he was free and jumped and took a swing at the white cloaked trainer and then scrambled over to his pokeballs. Without wasting anytime he released Lily, Miles and Lia, who faced the man with a glare. He just smiled and held up his pokeball. His confidence bothered Kenneth, but he shook a feeling of disaster away and stared the man head on.

"Sorry kid, but this time it really won't be the same." The man mumbled as he released his pokeball. It popped from the ball in a red light and stood proud in front of Kenneth's pokemon. The pokemon was human-sized and insect like with a steel hard exoskeleton. Where its hands were suppose to be rested two crab claws, both with their own set of 'eyes'. From its back sprouted two lobed wings, like a butterfly.

Kenneth groaned knowing that something just wasn't right with the pokemon standing in front of him. It glanced at Kenneth's pokemon and almost seemed to laugh and started to wave its claws, giving the impression of three heads.

Lia twitched and jumped behind Miles who was growling as he faced the pokemon. Lily stood beside him, confident that they could overtake it with the help of their trainer.

Scizor, the Pincer Pokemon. It swings its eye-patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads.

Kenneth took a deep breath as he more information, such as its type and little extras, appeared on the screen. He grimaced as he read through it and looked back up at the pokemon with fear in his eyes.

"Okay Lily, start out with hypnosis!" Lily jumped in front of the others and her belly spirals started to glow, sending waves at Scizor.

"Haha, agility!" The pokemon called its name in response and quickly disappeared completely avoiding the wave. "Now, slash." The cloak trainer was awfully calm and no sooner as Scizor had appeared he behind Lily. Kenneth called out but it was too late. Scizor's claw glowed white moved so fast that it only left an afterimage as Lily was bashed against the head and sent flying into a wall. Kenneth felt something stab at his heart.

"Lily! NO!!!" He bit his lip. "Miles run at him with charge and then use spark! Lia be ready to help!" The two pokemon stepped forward, doing their best to be brave, well Lia was but Miles was just plain angry. He ran forward as he gathered electric ions from the air, causing electricity to rise from his body.

"Metal Claw." Moving as fast as it did before, Scizor appeared in front of Miles. He stopped frightened at the sudden movement and was to slow as Scizor lunged forward and clamped Miles with his claw. The young shinx yelped in pain and the cloak man laughed as he ordered Scizor to squeeze him to death.

"Stop!" Tears were stinging his eyes as he called out. With every squeeze and cry of pain he felt his heart break. He wiped his hand over his face, trying to rid himself of the tears. Lia stood beside him ready to battle. Kenneth knew that she had no chance. She was barely able to defend herself and in this battle she had a disadvantage, big time. But the determined look on her face told him that she wasn't just going to sit by.

"Okay, we've got to help 'em. Lia I want you to use ingrain!" The seed pokemon nodded and started to glow green. "Then use the vines to entangle Scizor and free Miles." There was a chirp of sorts and a few seconds later vines ripped from the ground and swirled around Scizor. They latched on to his limbs, binding them and pulled. Shocked the pokemon loosened its grip and Miles fell to the floor. Kenneth quickly recalled him.

"Okay, now that we…"

"Razor wind." Kenneth glanced up from his command to see Scizor flap his wings. They moved at an incredible speed and caused of a gust of sharp wind that ripped it free from the vines.

"Now, slash." In less than a second Lia was down and out. Scizor now stood beside Kenneth looking down at the small seed pokemon. Quickly, having a bad feeling, Kenneth recalled her. The Scizor turned its glance to him and raised a claw ready to strike, but it was pushed back by a blast of water.

Kenneth blinked and looked to the left to see Lily standing. She was barely standing and breathing heavily, the result of taking a head on attack from the Scizor's steel-hard claws. Kenneth gave her a sad smile and he recalled her.

"No more, you've done enough already…" His heart was crushed. He looked over at the cloaked man and then back at the ground. There was no point in continuing the battle; he just couldn't stand seeing his pokemon brutalized like that. His eyes began to burn as tears started to form.

He had lost…

Kaitlyn only had a while to wallow in her pity, before the black cloaked trainer made his way towards them, she noticed that all the other kids there had lost just as she did, it was humiliating defeat at the hands of such evil men, it was horrible, she felt sad for them and sad for herself "P-Pichu" Sho sniffed and rubbed at his wet eyes while he sat sobbing in her arms "Its alright Sho, don't be scared, everything's gonna be okay, Snoopy's fine see" she shifted the Pichu in her arms, so he could see, that the Snubbull was up but his breathing was labored and he looked tired and worn, while Sho's eyes seemed to light up with joy at the fact Snoopy was going to be fine, she couldn't help but darkly wonder if they were gonna get out of this place. . . alive.

"Ohhh that was quite entertaining hahaha, have you not realized yet, this whole time I have been toying with you!!" He told them, as though they were too stupid to figure it out themselves pausing briefly before he begins again "This time though.. is much different.. your getting stronger everyday and surely we can't have that, I thought after the Falkner death they would shut the gyms down and you would all be forced to stop... But no.. oh well just means we had to handle this matter a different way.." He said while pulling a Pokéball out from his cloak and releasing a Skarmory.

"Goodbye! Haha" he laughed merrily as his Skarmory cocks itself back getting ready to fly around and deliver the final blow to each of them, but as it goes to take off, another Pokémon jumps in it's path and stops it dead in its tracks, It was an Infernape, the Infernape was a brownish-red and very large monkey, it had a large flame burning on its head. It was wearing wears a

He seems to be about mid to end 60's but is in great shape for his age... Kaitlyn couldn't really make much more out about him but he looks back to all of them again "All of you now get out of here!" He shouted pointing down a tunnel that must lead out of here.. Everyone took off, but not before warily glancing back, watching as he released a Luxray and a Blastoise, and the black cloaked trainer approached him ominously.

"Well well, it seems I have an unexpected guest.. and a familiar one at that.. Grecko" He says, thought Kaitlyn could hardly hear now, they were almost at the exit, she saw a bright white light up ahead, it was the exit! Finally, when they had all made it out of the cave, she glanced around before allowing Snoopy and Sho to climb onto her shoulder's "Its a good thing that Grecko guy showed up right?" they both nodded and she wondered, what was this man's reason for saving them all?

"Kaitlyn?"

She recognized that voice... Kaitlyn glanced around the group of trainer's, her eyes widening when she saw him, she felt her heart flutter with immense joy, butterflies in her stomach, she was so happy to see her friend again and to show him how happy she was, she did the first thing that came to mind "Cairne!" a big wide grin was on her face as she ran towards the boy, she'd practically known all her life, he was smiling just as wide as she was, his arms were extended out for a hug and once Kaitlyn got close enough, she struck.

Poor Cairne never knew what hit him.

Punched him right in the face.

Hard.

One would think she was trying to punch through a brick wall.

Kaitlyn swore she heard something snap, not sure if it was his nose, or her middle finger.

It was probably his nose.

The metaphorical butterflies went away and fuzzy feelings were instantly gone, replaced instantly by anger as she stared at the boy she just punched, possibly giving him a broke nose "You sneaky bastard! I'll kill you!" Snoopy and Sho looked at their trainer with wide eyes, as though she had just gown a second head, from her shoulder's, both questioning her mental stability.

Ahh, the joys of friendship.

A pained groan and she hoped his nose really was broken, serves the jerk right for leaving without telling her.

Kaitlyn smirked in satisfaction

Sahib's gaze moved from her to the Pokeball as it slowly stopped and dinged. "Well what do you know," he began in a slow drawl, "you actually caught it." A tiny smirk appeared on his face as he pushed up from his spot underneath the tree. Liliana gave him another glare, though he wasn't sure if it was as nasty as the previous one. "Oh don't worry," Sahib said finally. "I was just kidding."

"Sure you were, smartass." Liliana then released her new Pokémon. The Aipom immediately jumped into a tree. "Well that's gratitude for you!"

Sahib looked up at the purple Pokémon. "Well," he said, "like they say…like trainer, like Pokémon." He smirked at her and walked over to her. "I mean, you guys sorta do resemble each other. What with looking like monkeys and all…" Sahib trailed off, looking off into the distance. He peered down at her then.

"Oh, really, you're so funny!" Liliana said without a trace of sarcasm in her voice. Alright, so maybe there was some… "Anyway, little monkey," she began. The Aipom poked his head out of the trees curiously. "Yeah you, I'll call you Abu." Sahib made a slight face, looking at her as if she were crazy. I guess she's naming them all weird names…he thought, blinking a few times.

He opened his mouth to say something, but that's when the bushes rustled. Suddenly a snake like Pokémon came out. Sahib's eyes went wide and he swallowed heavily, scooting backwards away from the snake. He hated snakes with a rather burning passion, and this Pokémon got no special treatment. Liliana looked up at him and then over to the bushes. Sahib put on his 'I don't care' face and pretended that the snake like Pokémon didn't bother him any. Stupid fear from my mother…he thought in a rather grumpy way.

He noticed Liliana look at the bushes, and then back at him. She had probably seen it, so he held his breath. "An Ekans. Really now? Snakes? Is that the one fear of the great Sahib?"

Sahib gave her a dry look. "I'm not scared of them. I just don't like them too much," he grumbled in an almost pouty way. Soon he realized that and shook his head. "Anyway, I…" he trailed off, seeing the snake slither up to some kid. Hmm…he thought, having an idea. He suddenly knew just what he was going to do. "Here, I'll show you I'm not afraid of them. I'll battle that kid and be all fearless and ****. How does that work for you?" Sahib offered, attempting to retain his pride and dignity.

Liliana ended up laughing. Sahib felt his cheeks grow hot, and he was rather glad that he had tan skin. "That works just fine, thank you very much." Grumbling under his breath, Sahib stalked off towards the trainer. He grabbed Furret's Pokeball and paused just a few feet from the boy. The boy looked over at Sahib, his Ekans still slithering around on his shoulders. Sahib resisted the urge to shudder.

"Lookin' for a battle, eh?" the boy asked gruffly. Sahib blinked, vaguely wondering how a kid so short could have such a rough voice. It just didn't seem to work. "Well, is that why you marched up to me with your girlfriend? Tryin' to impress her?"

"Girl…who?" Sahib said slowly. He blinked and then remembered Liliana. "Girlfriend?! No! She's not—"

"Girlfriend?!" Liliana cried about as indignantly as Sahib had. "No way, he can't even get himself a friend, let alone a girlfriend."

"Uh huh, whatever ya say. Let's just get this over with. Ekans, c'mon." Upon the order, the Ekans slithered to the ground and hissed at Sahib. Sahib swallowed in a slightly heavily way and then tossed Furret's Pokeball. Furret appeared in a flash of light, ready to battle against the Ekans. It slightly amazed Sahib how Furret looked so much braver than he did at the moment. "Ekans, get things rolling with screech."

Ekans did just that. Furret squeaked at the angry screeching hiss, shaking its head madly and attempting to cover his ears. Ekans finished its screech attack and waited patiently for the next one. It was a wrap. Ekans slithered forward rather quickly and wrapped around Furret before Sahib could even bother to have it dodge. Sahib blinked as Furret got squeezed by the ugly purple snake.

He didn't even notice when Liliana sat down with her back against the tree. She appeared to be watching the match. Soon a slightly evil smile spread across her features. "You know, it doesn't seem to be going too well for you Sahib." Sahib's eye twitched but he didn't look over at her, not wanting to give her a chance to further patronize him.

"Furret, use fury swipes to get out of there," Sahib commanded, pushing aside his little Ekans issue. "Then follow up with a quick attack," Sahib stated. Furret quickly did this, scratching at the Ekans enough to where the Ekans released him and moved backwards. Furret then shot at Ekans and slammed into the Pokémon's long body. "Heh…how's that for not going so well?" Sahib retorted to Liliana, still not taking his eyes off of the battle.

"Don't get overconfident, Sahib," Liliana warned. Sahib had to look at her now. He narrowed his eyes at her seemingly innocent expression. Without meaning to, he didn't realize that Ekans had once again caught Furret in a wrap.

"Crap!" Sahib cursed. "Furret, try to break free. If that doesn't work, use a fury swipes," Sahib called to his struggling Pokémon.

Furret squeaked and wiggled around, but couldn't get out of Ekan's coils. The boy laughed harshly and shook his head, commenting that Sahib was rather pathetic. Sahib clenched his teeth and glared at the short kid. I'm going to kick his…Sahib trailed off to himself. Suddenly the boy ordered a bite, and Ekans latched down onto Furret's back with its jaws. Furret let out a cry that sounded more like a scream than anything. Sahib's mind raced as he thought of what he could do.

"Furret, thrash around! If that doesn't work, give it a fury swipes underneath its head!" Sahib called frantically.

Furret tried to thrash about and free itself, but that didn't work very well. Eventually it used a fury swipes just underneath Ekan's head. The Pokémon hissed wildly and let go, hissing angrily at Furret. Sahib let out a breath and then ordered another quick attack. Furret dodged Ekan's attempt at another bite and then slammed into the Pokémon. Ekans screeched as it fell backwards, tumbling over its own coils from the strength of the attack.

"Guh…" the man growled, a bead of sweat forming on his head. "I'm through with this. Ekans, use acid!"

Ekans hissed a shot a rather nasty looking stream of something shooting towards Furret. It hit Furret, causing Furret to shudder and wince. Sahib clenched his teeth, looking at the ugly purple mark on his Pokémon's fur.

"Furret, try for another quick attack. Make sure it really counts!" Sahib urged, wanting this match to be over as quick as possible. He didn't really think it would be too good if his Pokémon fainted before they got into town because of poison.

Furret charged and slammed into Ekans once more, knocking the Pokémon backwards. Ekans hissed and twisted through the air, slamming against a tree and slipping down. The boy whipped around and looked at his Pokémon, eyes awfully wide. Sahib blinked, Well…I guess that worked. The boy growled under his breath and recalled his Ekans, glaring at Sahib in the same manner Liliana had previously. With a grumble under his breath, the boy stalked off into some bushes.

"Uh…" Sahib trailed off, glancing over at Liliana. "See? I told you I wasn't afraid of an Ekans!" He crossed his arms and huffed. Wow, I think my ego needs to deflate, Sahib thought. He cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his head in a slightly sheepish way. "Anyway…I expect we had better go on into town, right? Battle the gym and get our Pokémon healed and all…" Sahib trailed off, waiting for an answer.

"Right…the gym," Liliana replied. Sahib saw something flicker across her face, and he had a funny feeling he knew what she was remembering. "Let's go kick some bug ass," she said with a smile.

"Sure you can do that? I mean you do have a Bayleef…" Sahib trailed off, grinning slightly at her. "Nah, I'm just kidding. Let's go then. Oh, and don't forget your monkey dude," Sahib stated, pointing up in the tree. Sahib watched as she recalled her Aipom, vaguely wondering if she had almost forgotten it.

"Hey, I also have a Shinx, that ought to count for something!" Liliana stated.

"Indeed it does," Sahib agreed, very thankful that he had his trusty Quilava. With those final words, they walked the rest of the way to the next city.

Fenris: Good post! Furret grew to lvl 19! Also I am really enjoying you two rping together it makes for some laughs XD! Now go to the gym!

Liliana waited for the Poké Ball to stop shaking. Which it did, the thing came to a stop with a flash of the button and she knew she had caught her Aipom. Apparently Sahib was also aware of this.

"Well, what do you know, you actually caught it." He was watching with a smirk on his face, and she glared at him again. Wow, she sure was glaring a lot today. "Oh don't worry," he said. "I was just kidding."

"Oh, sure you were, smartass," she retorted before releasing the Pokémon. He looked around for a bit before climbing up the tree again. "Well, there's gratitude for you." Liliana looked up the tree and she only saw a tail waving. Great.

"Well.. Like they say.. like trainer like Pokémon." He smirked his annoying smirk and walked up to her. "You two do kind of resemble each other. What with looking like monkeys and all…." He peered down at her.

"Oh, really? You're so funny." Her tone leaked sarcasm. She turned her attention back to her Pokémon. "Anyway, little monkey?" Aipom poked his head out to stare at her curiously. "Yeah you. I think I shall call you Abu." Aipom looked her in the eyes for a second, before retreating in the tree again.

The bushes rustled. Liliana turned around to look at what had caused it, but she stopped when she saw Sahib's reaction. He swallowed, wide eyed, and stepped away cautiously. She looked over at the bushes again, to find what had caused him. She caught a glimpse of slithering purple. Then she looked at Sahib again, who had put on his careless face and pretended none of that ever happened. Right. She was so not buying that.

"An Ekans?" she said slowly. "Really now? Snakes? Is that the one fear of the great Sahib?" She knew she was being a little mean, but it was payback for his commentary. Plus, snakes. She thought girls were supposed to be afraid of spiders, bugs and snakes. Well apparently, Sahib didn't get that memo.

"I'm not scared of them. I just don't like them that much," was his reply. Yeah right, Liliana thought. He was grumbling almost like a little boy. Then he caught himself. "Anyway, I.." Something caught his attention. Lili had to stand on her toes to look over the bushes, but she saw what had caught Sahib's attention. The Ekans snaked over to a boy.

"Here, I'll show you I'm not afraid of them. I'll battle that kid and be all fearless and ****. How does that work for you?" he was trying to be all manly and stuff, and it just ended up making her laugh. "That works just fine, thank you very much." She replied as he marched up to the kid. For the second time that day she thought oh boys.

Sahib was holding one of his Poké Ball very tight as he approached the boy. He seemed to be fighting the urge to walk away when he saw the Ekans slithering around. Oh boy, this could get interesting. The boy didn't look too amused however. "Lookin' for a battle, eh? Well? Is that why you marched up to me with your girlfriend. To impress her?"

Beside the whole girlfriend thing he wasn't too far from the truth, she decided. He did challenge him to attempt to get his pride back. His reply made her roll her eyes however. "Girl.. who?" Honestly that boy was as dense as a rock. He blinked and then he seemed to get it. "Girlfriend?! No she's not-"

"Girlfriend?" she hadn't meant to cry it out like that, but she quickly got herself together. "Oh, please. "No way, he can't even get himself a friend, let alone a girlfriend."

"Uh huh, whatever ya say. Let's just get this over with, Ekans, c'mon." He didn't seem too convinced, but he also didn't seem interested enough to continue talking about it. Liliana settled against a tree to watch the whole thing. In the beginning she did just as Sahib did, provide commentary as pay back. But then when it stopped going so well for him, she let it go and just sat there watching.

At the end, Sahib won. The boy was a bit of a sore loser and he glared his own master-glare. Mine was better, Liliana decided before getting up.

"Uh..?" Once again.. dense to the bone. "See? I told you I wasn't afraid of an Ekans!" He puffed his chest out all testosterone like and she laughed again. He seemed to catch himself and ended up trying to look more casual. "Anyway… I expect we had better go into town, right? Battle the gym and get our Pokémon healed and all…"

"Right.. the gym.." It reminded her of that night when Falkner… She looked away and got herself together again. "Right, let's go kick some bug ass," she smiled. Sahib seemed to looking mock-soubtfull. "Sure you can do that? I mean you do have a Bayleef." He grinned at her, "Nah, I'm just kidding. Let's go then. Oh, and don't forget your monkey dude."

She looked flushed and recalled Abu. She had almost forgotten him. "Ehm, anyway. I do also have a Shinx, that ought to count for something!" Sahib agreed with her and they walked on to the next city.

Dutchesse: Good post! Now that you and Fenris have both done something on that route its time for some gym battles XD!

Kenneth's head hung low as the trainer recalled his pokemon. His hands were balled into fist and he felt angry at himself for being so helpless. That feeling of anger however, faded as the man in the black cloak stepped forward once again to face all of them.

Kenneth couldn't ignore the bad feeling coming from his stomach. A dreadful chill crept throughout his body and he shivered as he instantly thought about what happened the night Falkner died. The gym leader had lost and then the man had ruthlessly killed him on the spot. Kenneth couldn't shake the feeling that the other trainers and him were about to share that very same fate.

"Ohhh my, that was quite wonderful and entertaining! Surely, you kids have realized it by now. I've been toying with you all this whole time…" he grinned widely. Kenneth's hand twitched as he glared at the man. He was getting angry again, but in his current state he knew he wouldn't be able to do anything.

"This time though," He rubbed his chin. "…is much different. Everyday your lot is getting stronger and stronger and certainly we can't have that." His hands moved behind him as his hidden gaze passed over each of them. "I thought that after Falkner's death the council would have been smart enough to shut down the Gyms and keep them down, forcing you all to stop. But no, and now that means that we've got to go about this matter in a different way…"

He pulled out a pokeball and released a large bird-like pokemon. Its body reminded Kenneth of the Scizor he fought, only that the shell was silver-gray and not red. "Now, say goodbye!" The man laughed as his steel bird pokemon, Skarmory, prepared to strike.

It lunged forward, only to be stop by a red, brown and white blur. The Skarmory raised its wings and cried out at the sight of the brownish-red monkey standing in front of it. A large flamed burned from its head and its upper body and the sides of its head were covered in white hair. It also seemed to have shoulder and knee pads and wrist bands, all gold in color. It didn't take Kenneth long to figure that it was an Infernape, but where did it come from?

"All of you, go now!" Kenneth turned to the voice to see a trainer walk up behind the Infernape. While he was shorter than Kenneth he had an athletic build much better than the boy's. By the gray strands of his hair and the look of his face the man seemed to be maybe in his 60s. He stared at the cloaked man with no shred of fear as though the man couldn't compare to the things he had seen. He turned back to the trainers.

"Go now!" He pointed down a tunnel and some of the trainers started to run. Kenneth stood there for a second more as the man released a Blastoise and Luxray, then he turned and followed the others out.

"Well well, looks like I have a party crasher…a familiar one at that. It's been a while, Grecko."

Once he found the exit, Kenneth leaned against the wall breathing heavily. He took a glance at all the other trainers who had stopped to catch their breath as well. 'I'm not sure why he did it, but I'm glad that guy showed up when he did. If he didn't we'd be…'

He shook his head, thinking it was better to forget about it. For now he was safe and the others were too, but the man and his reasons for saving them still nagged at the back of his head.

Soon they arrived at the Pokémon Center. While their Pokémon were getting healed, Sahib glanced over at Liliana. He opened his mouth several times, and then closed it several times. Finally he figured on what to say. "Well…" he began. "I suppose we can meet each other here at the end of the day?" he offered, figuring that it was probably the best way.

"Sure, yeah. Don't lose big guy," Liliana said with a laugh. She got up once she noticed Nurse Joy waving her over. Sahib blinked and found another tiny smile playing on his lips.

Sahib picked up his Pokeballs a few moments later and then headed on towards the gym. His stomach rumbled, so he paused. How long has it been since I ate? He wondered briefly. This caused an inner debate. He couldn't decide whether he should get food first or battle the gym leader. With a sigh, Sahib finally settled on the food. He walked off to some restaurant and walked inside, probably not looking the very best. But you know what? Sahib honestly did give a Rattata's—

"What can I get for you today?" this busty blonde asked, looking him up and down.

I'm not a piece of candy, Sahib thought dryly. "Just a cheeseburger," Sahib replied quickly, wanting to waitress to be as far away from him as possible. She took his menu and walked off. Sahib shuddered, taking a sip of the water that had been place in front of him moments previously.

Soon his cheeseburger arrived. He looked down at it and saw that it looked fairly good, so he dug in. His stomach rumbled slightly even after he had finished. Sahib let out a satisfied breath, glad to finally have some food. He ordered another cheeseburger, and soon it was in his stomach. Sahib leaned his head on the back of the booth he was sitting in and sighed happily. Now that he was content, he had a good feeling about battling the gym leader. He set money down on the table (along with a dollar tip…the waitress just freaked him out a bit too much) and then proceeded to the doors of the restaurant, gym battle on his mind.

The first thing Sahib noticed about the gym was that it was very…dark. He blinked, attempting to have his eyes adjust to the blackness of the room. He heard a noise, and felt along the wall. Moments later, his hand found a light switch. As soon as he flipped the lights on, several Pokémon turned to glare at him. Sahib blinked, rather startled by their angry looks.

"No! Turn off the light! You're upsetting the Pokémon!" Sahib looked up at noticed a green-haired man with a green goatee standing at the opposite end of the gym. There was a net in his hand. Sahib flipped off the lights once more. Suddenly the darkness was broken by a few lights coming from jars that were all around the gym. Sahib got out his Pokedex and found that it was a Volbeat, keeping an eerie glow about with their tail lights. The gym leader came forward with a ball in his hand. "So, I'm guessing you're here for a battle?"

"Yeah," Sahib said. He grabbed his own Pokeball and found that it turned out to be Furret's.

The gym leader paused in his tracks; stopping at what Sahib decided was the opposite end of the field. The man tossed his Pokeball, summoning a Pokémon that looked rather like a pinecone out of it. Sahib registered the information on this Pokémon and then tossed his own Pokeball. Furret appeared in a flash of light, ready to battle. Sahib wondered if his Pokémon were at a disadvantage, but then brushed that from his mind as he focused more on the gym battle.

"Challengers first."

"Furret, hurry and use quick attack!" Sahib called, pointing to the sitting duck.

Furret charged towards Pineco rapidly. It dodged and zigzagged around the Pokémon momentarily and then leapt at it. Before the attack hit, however, a shield surrounded Pineco in a protect. Sahib clenched his teeth, unable to believe that the Pineco knew protect and had just foiled his attack plans. He tried to think of what he could do, but nothing major came to mind. He then realized he'd probably just have to win this match by sheer determination and a bit of luck.

"Furret, use fury swipes and follow with quick attack!" Sahib shouted.

"Pineco, use rapidspin," Bugsy called.

Furret leapt in and scratched at Pineco, but just as it was about to launch the quick attack it was repelled by a rapidspin. Sahib clenched his teeth as Furret flew backwards, skidding against the grassy floor of the gym. Pineco slowly came to a stop, simply staying in the middle of the field where it started out. Sahib ordered another quick attack. Furret leapt in, but it was soon foiled by protect once more. Sahib growled under his breath, finding that this Pineco was proving to be rather troublesome.

"Furret go for another quick attack! Keep at it until you hit!" Sahib said to his Pokémon. He had confidence in Furret, but he just wasn't sure if he could actually ever land a hit with the protect attack that Pineco kept throwing out there. There was that, and the rapidspin that would send Furret flying away.

Furret charged again, but got deflected by protect. Again Furret lunged, but this time Pineco used rapidspin. Finally Furret got in a solid hit. Pineco got thrown backwards, skidding across the ground and landing to Bugsy's left.

"Pineco, let's finish that Furret. Selfdestruct!" Bugsy called.

Sahib's eyes grew wide. He appeared to be sacrificing his own Pokémon so the attack would destroy Furret. Pineco cried out and then suddenly destructed. The attack hit Furret, smacking it into a tree directly behind the Pokémon. Sahib clenched his teeth as Bugsy returned his fainted Pineco. Furret slowly got up, badly hurt. Sahib groaned lightly, knowing that Furret would soon be down for the count. He didn't dare use his potion right now though, for fear of the fact that he'd need it later.

"Let's go, Beedrill," Bugsy called. He tossed another Pokeball. A Beedrill appeared in a flash of white light that momentarily lit up the entire room. "Start off with a focus energy. Then attack that Furret and finish it with a twin needle!"

"Furret, use quick attack before it can get to you!" Sahib called. He was growing slightly desperate in this, because he knew that Mareep probably couldn't finish off the Beedrill very easily.

Furret panted heavily as it pushed up. Beedrill was obviously getting ready to finish it off, pumping its energy as it grew stronger and stronger. Furret charged at Beedrill. It was obviously a bit slower than usual, but the attack still hit. It didn't do a giant amount of damage, but did enough to where Sahib felt a bit more confident if he did have to bring Mareep out to battle. Beedrill was finally finished charging up power, and then moved in on Furret rapidly. Furret glared angrily, claws suddenly ready for a fury swipes. They met in a fury of claws, both attacking the other. In the end, Furret fell down on the ground, completely out of the battle. Sahib sighed softly and recalled his Pokémon. He grabbed Mareep's Pokeball and threw it next. Mareep looked around curiously at his surroundings. When he noticed the Beedrill, he quickly changed into attack mode. Sahib smiled slightly; he had a plan for this battle.

"Mareep, let's open with thunder wave!" Sahib called, figuring this would be the best way for him to win the battle.

Mareep unleashed a steady stream of electricity that just narrowly missed the dodging Beedrill. Bugsy relaxed slightly at this, and then ordered a fury attack. Beedrill flew at Mareep in a harsh beating of its wings. Sahib called another attack out, and then suddenly Beedrill fell to the floor, electricity popping about its body. Sahib smirked slightly as he watched the paralyzed Beedrill struggle to fly. He ordered a thundershock. Mareep shocked the Beedrill, hurting it more because it was part flying type as well. Sahib felt himself well up with pride at his Mareep.

He ordered another thundershock, and as this was going on he thought of something. Sahib honestly didn't know whether or not to keep Mareep in his team. He felt rather horrible for even having thought of that, but Sahib just wasn't sure. He liked Mareep very well—really, he did. He just didn't know if he could find a spot for it on his future team. Plus, if he wasn't going to use it much Sahib didn't know if it was such a good idea to train it. Should I just focus on Quilava and Furret? But what happens if I want it on my team…? Sahib mused to himself, watching the electricity fly from Mareep's little body. He shook his head with a sad smile on his face.

"Beedrill, use rage!" Bugsy called angrily.

Beedrill's wings suddenly snapped to life. It charged at Mareep and attacked in a rather blind attack of rage. Sahib's eyes went wide as he watched. He ordered a thundershock, and clenched his teeth when Beedrill just continued to attack.

"Finish it off, Beedrill," Bugsy said, "use twin needle!"

"Mareep, you finish it off! Use your strongest thundershock!" Sahib called out to Mareep.

Mareep snapped its eyes shut and rapidly stored as much energy as it could manage in that short amount of time. Beedrill zoomed toward it but at a slower pace. Mareep let the attack fly, causing the entire gym to light up with electricity as it slammed into Beedrill. Beedrill hit Mareep with its needles, and then suddenly it was over. Mareep fell back, completely KOed. Beedrill fell to the ground as well, the paralysis and thundershock attacks proving to be too much for the Pokémon. Sahib let out a breath as he realized he was down to his last Pokémon.

Bugsy recalled Beedrill, a slight smirk on his face. He tossed his next Pokeball. In a flash of light, a beautiful looking Butterfree appeared out of the Pokeball. Sahib stared at it for a moment, and then recalled his Mareep. He grabbed Quilava's Pokeball and stared at it long and hard, silently willing Quilava to do its best so they could pull out on top once more. He tossed the ball. Quilava appeared immediately, the flames on its back and head burning bright. Several bug Pokémon that were watching let out low hissing noises at the light from the fire.

"Butterfree, use confusion on Quilava," Bugsy called.

Sahib had a brief moment of time to wonder what else Butterfree could use to make this match extra difficult. Then Butterfree attacked, eyes glowing red and making Quilava dance around like it was on drugs. Sahib blanched as he watched his Pokémon sway back and forth.

"Quilava, snap out of it and use ember!" Sahib called, happy that he had chosen a fire type this time.

Quilava blinked and looked about. Then it unleashed a rather strong burst of fire towards Butterfree. Butterfree scraped a dodged, but almost fell to the ground in the process. Quilava didn't give up, however, and soon about half the field was ablaze because of his ember attack. As it burned, Butterfree fluttered about just above the flames, being weary of Quilava.

"Butterfree, go and use gust on that Quilava!"

"You sure you wanna do that?" Sahib questioned, completely serious. "Quilava, use flame wheel!"

Quilava leapt up towards Butterfree. A veil of fire surrounded him. Butterfree used a strong gust in an attempt to blow Quilava down, but all it did was cause the flames to grow higher. The gym leader cursed under his breath for having a momentary lapse. Quilava slammed into Butterfree, knocking the Pokémon down towards the fiery gym floor. Butterfree cried out as it hit.

"Butterfree, use confusion to get that Quilava away from you!" Bugsy called.

Butterfree did almost the exact same thing as before. Its eyes glowed red and it slowly confused Quilava, making him fall backwards and roll around on the ground. Sahib's right eye twitched while he watched. Butterfree seemed to get amusement out of this, but Sahib had had enough. He called out for another flame wheel, but when he did he noticed something. It appeared as though Quilava was effectively confused. His eye twitched once more. So…annoying

"Quilava, snap out of it! Use flame wheel!" Sahib urged.

Quilava did use flame wheel. It just went the wrong way. Instead of heading towards Butterfree, Quilava turned towards Sahib and charged toward him. Sahib yelped and flew out of the way as his Pokémon slammed into a wall behind him. Oh well for friggin' Pete's sake! He thought in a rather annoyed way.

"Butterfree, let's put this thing out of commission. Use a silver wind attack!"

"Quilava, you use ember!" Sahib called.

Quilava whipped around, opening its mouth and unleashing an ember towards Butterfree. Butterfree cried out, getting hit with the ember before it could use the silver wind. It slammed into the ground under the force of the flames, effectively being knocked out. Sahib let out a breath. Quilava blinked slowly, the confusion leaving its eyes. Bugsy recalled his fainted Butterfree.

"This next one will get you before you know what hits you," Bugsy stated. He tossed his final Pokeball. There was a funky sound, and Sahib was face to face with another Pokémon he had never seen before. His eyebrow shot up as he learned from his Pokedex that it was a Kricketune. "Kricketune, let's start of with leech life," Bugsy commanded.

Kricketune did just that. It somehow sucked energy out of Quilava and absorbed it itself. Sahib clenched his teeth, though he was glad to note that the attack did little to Quilava because of the type. Bugsy then ordered a sing attack—something that Sahib found not to be very good for him. Kricketune unleashed the attack, and then suddenly Quilava was snoozing in the middle of the arena. Sahib blanched once more.

"Kricketune, let's use x-scissor," Bugsy called calmly to his Pokémon. He seemed rather confident about this now. Sahib was just thankful that the bug attacks wouldn't do a terrible amount of damage to Quilava. "Follow with bug buzz."

Kricketune then charged towards the unsuspecting Quilava. It slashed Quilava, but Quilava simply stayed asleep through the beating. Then it moved back away from Sahib's Pokémon. Kricketune then began to beat its wings rapidly, forming a rather large sound that soon grew to be very powerful. Sahib saw Quilava thrash around, slowly waking up. He also found by looking at his Pokedex that his special defense had been lowered greatly from that attack.

"Kricketune use bug buzz once more," Bugsy commanded.

Kricketune once more began to beat its wings. Sahib ordered an ember. Quilava unleashed the attack, but it soon faltered when the beat of Kricketune's wings became too much. Kricketune finally stopped the attack, leaving Quilava wincing and looking even more tired that previously. Sahib ordered a flame wheel this time, hoping that it would do enough damage. Quilava charged at Kricketune. A wall of fire surrounded it as it slammed into the Kricketune. Bugsy stayed silent as he watched.

"Nice job, Quilava," Sahib said. "Finish it up with flame wheel once more!"

"Kricketune, use leech life," Bugsy said.

Just as Quilava began its charge, Kricketune sucked energy from Quilava. Quilava faltered and skidded on the floor, tripping over its own paws. Sahib clenched his teeth as he watched. Kricketune looked like it barely got anything out of Quilava from that time, but Sahib wasn't sure how much longer Quilava could handle this battle.

"Quilava try to use a quick attack!" Sahib called, forgetting about the flame wheel and just wanting it to use a move that would end the battle as soon as possible.

Quilava slowly got up, panting the whole way. It looked tired and ready to collapse, but it didn't just yet. It charged at Kricketune and slammed into the Pokémon, knocking it backwards. Quilava then unleashed an ember attack of his own accord, wanting to finish this battle as well, apparently.

"Kricketune!" Bugsy called urgently.

Kricketune was down. It twitched slightly, but didn't move otherwise. Bugsy sighed softly and returned his Pokémon. Quilava fell to the floor. It didn't faint, but Sahib knew it was rather close to. He recalled Quilava silently. His fist clenched around Quilava's Pokeball tightly as he received the badge from Bugsy.

As he sat in the Pokémon Center, Sahib all but cursed himself out. I need to train more, he thought. He knew that this wasn't good that he kept just barely scraping his wins. He wanted it to stop being luck, and he wanted to stop feeling so weak. Sahib gnashed his teeth together angrily as he stood and retrieved his Pokémon from Nurse Joy. Just as he was about to go to his room, he heard a rather loud whining noise coming from outside. He jogged outside and found that Liliana was standing out there as well.

"Hi," he commented as he ran past her.

"H…Sahib!" she called.

They ran towards the well and the screeching sound together, coming to a stop just outside of the large Slowpoke Well.

Fenris: YOUR GYM BATTLE WAS PURE AWESOMENESS!!! Quilava grew to lvl 23! Furret grew to lvl 21! Furret wants to learn Follow me, delete a move to make room? Mareep grew to lvl 16! Mareep wants to evolve will you let it? Sahib recieved the Hive badge!

Kenneth leaned his head back against the wall and took a deep breath. He slumped to the floor and looked around the ruins. 'Geez, just when I was making progress…now I'm all the way back here…' He sighed resting his hand in his lap and closing his eyes.

As soon as he was comfortable a large blast sounded off and he found himself rocketing forward into the ground. Pieces of yellow rocks rained down, stirring up dust. The boy rubbed his eyes as they caught some of the dust. He groaned and rolled forward before jumping to his feet. He whipped around to see the man, Grecko, run out with his pokemon behind him.

Once out, his Blastoise turned and shot a power blast of water that caused the walls to collapse. The rocks fell hard and blocked the exit from the ruins. Then it stood guard as if it was waiting for something to come out. Grecko turned to the trainers and brought his fingers to his mouth. He let out a loud whistle and a cry could be heard from the sky.

Four large pokemon flew around in the sky before touching down. Kenneth recognized the one closest to him to be a Dragonite. The same dragon pokemon that he had seen battle a Charizard the other day. He was in awe standing so close to one. It easily towered over him and when it touched down on the ground its wings shrunk.

One of the other pokemon was a large-bird like one with large triangular shaped wings and red and blue triangle spots on its belly. The spikes on its head formed a three-point crest tipped blue on the left and red on the right. The boy grinned. He knew that pokemon to be Togekiss as his dad owned one. It was an incredibly rare pokemon said to know the moves, sky attack and aura sphere. Two moves usually only known by Legendary Pokemon and a select few others.

A Fearow touched down not far from him. The large beak pokemon gave a cry as it landed and flapped its wings a few times. He looked around and lowered itself so that the trainers nearest to it could climb on. The last pokemon looked to be nestled within a cloud. From the cloud extended a long neck and from the back a tail. The odd thing about this pokemon was instead of being blue, it was gold.

"This is my Dragonite and a few of my friends' pokemon." He yelled urgently, wasting no time. He took a short glance at them. "Get on them and go! NOW!" As he yelled the rocks blocking the exit were sudden blown apart and the man in the black cloak walked through calmly.

Kenneth decided that it was best just to do as the man said and he hurried to the pokemon closest to him, the Dragonite. The dragon pokemon was already hunched over as one of the other trainers climbed on to his back. Kenneth followed and jumped on too. The boy looked at him over his shoulder.

"You ready?"

"Yep, whenever you are." Kenneth flashed a smile and the younger boy grinned. He turned his attention away from Kenneth and gave the Dragonite a light kick on the side. "Let's go!" The Dragonite gave a small nod as it lowered itself to the ground a bit hunched over. With a flap its wings dramatically increased in size and another flap sent it soaring into the air, gliding like a pro.

Kenneth looked back down at the ground to notice that they were the first ones to leave. He could see the others just now getting on the other pokemon or the pokemon taking off. He soon lost sight of them as the Dragonite passed through the clouds, escaping the view.

"What's this?" Kenneth turned his attention to the shorter boy in front of him. Thanks to his height he could clearly see over the boy's shoulder and watched as he caught an envelope that was fluttering in the wind, bound to the Dragonite by a blue bow. He opened it and held it up so that Kenneth could read it at the same time.

Dear Pokedex Holders,

Hopefully, none of you were harmed too badly. The pokemon you are riding belongs to a dear friend of mine, please trust him and do as he says. He has instructed these Pokemon to drop you off at Route 33, when you get off you should get to Azalea.

Yes, I still believe it is best for you all to continue your Johto League Challenge. So please head to Azalea and challenge the gym, which specializes in Bug Pokemon. Hopefully you'll all have fire pokemon by now.

-Elm.

Kenneth chuckled nervously under his breath. He himself wasn't exactly harmed, if you didn't count that the skin around his wrist being ripped off as harmed…which in Kenneth's case he was starting to feel now that the adrenaline had died down.

He also didn't have any fire pokemon. In fact, he never even thought of adding one to his team. They didn't appeal to him as much as they did to others.

"So you got that?" Kenneth looked back up at the younger boy and nodded with a smile. The Dragonite then started to descend without warning, making Kenneth a little lightheaded as his stomach flipped. It landed on a grassy pasture with a flapped that slowed it down and flattened the grass before it even touched down. He lowered his head and the two boys jumped off.

"My name is Damion. What's yours?" Kenneth flashed a grin and held his hand out. "The name's Kenneth. Nice to meet you!" Damion shook his hand.

"Likewise!"

~~

After the introduction the two began to walk along Route 33. Kenneth knew that the Route was one of the shorter ones and thanks to being kidnapped they didn't have to travel through Union Cave. The field that had landed it in was large and stretched out a bit. Hills rose here and there and the brittle-leaf trees dotted the area.

"Hey. Look at this, my PokeGear picked up a couple of items in that tree over there." Damion spoke up as he ran over to a tree. Kenneth followed behind him. "What is it?" He watched as the younger boy ripped something out from the bark of the tree. He turned to face Kenneth and held them out in his hand.

Lying in his hand were two diamond shaped seeds. "Two Revive Seeds." He grinned. He handed one over to Kenneth and he looked at the seed now lying in his hand. He stared at it for a moment when he thought about who would need it the most. He smiled and reached for one of his pokeballs and called out Lia. The Sunkern lay quietly in Kenneth's arms.

"You suffered the worst, Hoot. Here you go." Kenneth watched as the boy laid the seed on the owl's stomach and worked its magic. A few seconds later the Hoothoot was up and let out a loud hoot. Kenneth smiled his face a bit red as he didn't know how to use the seed but he copied what the boy did. The seed reacted the same way with Lia and she cried out when she was up.

Hearing Damion call out about something, Kenneth turned to see an Ekans and Phanpy standing now far from him, ready to attack. He looked down at Lia who was staring at the two pokemon ready for battle. He knew she wanted to fight. "Ok, let's go, Lia!"

Lia bounced from his arms and landed on the ground. She squealed out as she and the Phanpy had a stare down.

"Alright let's end this quickly. Ingrain, just like with Scizor!" Lia nodded and glowed green. Phanpy growled and ran towards Lia ready to tackle. The ground rumbled and just before Phanpy could reach Lia she was entangled by vines.

"Now, growth and mega drain through the vines!" Lia shined a light yellow color and once the glow faded the vines entangling Phanpy glowed green. Phanpy struggled to get free and cried out as the vines went from green to red. The energy then flowed back to Lia healing her of any injures she had left.

The small blue elephant growled and Lia lost her focus for a second. That was all Phanpy needed as it curled into a ball and glowed silver. It then unrolled itself and charged at Lia hitting it with a rather powerful Flail attack.

"Grasswhistle!" Kenneth called out. Lia brought the leaf on top of her head down and started to blow on it making a sweet tune. Phanpy stood up and charged again, but upon hearing the song she started to sway and then laid down to go to sleep.

"Ha!" Kenneth jumped and looked over at Damion to see that the Ekans was defeated. The boy smiled at him.

"Need help?" He asked with a grin as the Hoothoot perched itself on his shoulder. Kenneth shook his head.

"Nah almost finished." He smiled. "Now, Lia finish up with mega drain!" The Sunkern called out as it glowed green. A green beam shot from her body and engulfed the sleeping Phanpy. After a second the beam turned red and drained Phanpy of its remaining energy and returned to Lia, healing her.

"All done!" Kenneth called as he gave Damion a thumb up. 'Now I have two pokemon who can put others to sleep and a new friend!' He thought happily.

Chapter 8 parts one and two...chapter 9 part 1...just catching up

"Drip" "Drip" "Drip" little drops of water sounded as they smacked Scythe in the side of his face waking him from his slumber. "Huh..." the boy says as he begins to rub his face with his shoulder

"Why can't I see anything?" Scythe confusingly asks as he tries to move his arms and legs but with no luck. "Damnit!" Scythe yells out loud and than he hears others in the room to. "What's going on.." Scythe thinks to himself as he tries to calm down.

"Woah!" Scythe screams as his blindfold is removed and he frantically looks around the odd room he is in. The room is actually a cave and Scythe is tied up with his pokeballs laying in front of him. Scythe than rotates his head to the left and right of him and notices the other trainers are all tied up with him.

"What are they doing here...I guess this blackout wasn't like the other ones i've had...this one was caused on purpose by whoever brought us all here..." Scythe thinks to himself as he begins to try and remove the ropes around him.

While trying to free himself Scythe notices the note from the cloaked trainer laying in front of him opened, so he decides to read it. "End of the line" the note reads as Scythe finally realizes this was all a set up. And than the black cloaked man who killed Falkner appears in the room.

Scythe looks up at the man and scowls hoping to see the face of the murderer. But he just begins to talk with a lot of force, "Look at all of you, so helpless its hilarous.. Part of me just wants to let you go and see how far you would make it without your pokemon... But instead I think it would be better if you really feel how inferior your power is compared to ours.." He than laughs as the original white cloaked trainers appear behind Scythe and the others and unties them all.

It once again seems that each trainer from Elm's is assigned to their own trainer to fight but Scythe notices something odd. "These trainers...there differen't from the last ones...they seem more confident..." Scythe gulps as he watches the white cloaked trainer across from him release a massive pokemon.

"AAAABBAAA!!!!!" The huge white and green pokemon roars as it appears out of the pokeball. As Scythe glances down the line he realizes all of the white cloaked trainers have stronger pokemon than before, and he hopes he can win. "Lets go Chukapis! Pidgeotto!, Easter!" Scythe yells out as he sends out all three of his pokemon.

"Piiiii!" "BON BON!" "PIDGOTTOOO!" the pokemon chant as they soar out of their pokeballs. "Lets see what the pokedex says first!" Scythe says as he pulls out his trusty device. "Abomasnow the snowman pokemon. It is very tempramental and will destroy everything in it's path until it is defeated." The pokedex reads out. "Well i've heard enough..." Scythe whimpers as he closes his pokedex.

"Ok guys...we can do this..."Scythe says to his pokemon as they huddle up. The three smaller pokemon look up at Abomasnow and gulp, but they each know they have to try their hardest.
"Chukapis go use thundershock! Pidgeotto use gust! Easter use Pound!" Scythe commanded his three pokemon swiftly disobeying all pokemon league rules in order to try and make it out alive.

"Abomasnow use Wood Hammer!" the white cloaked trainer calmly stated to the massive pokemon. "ABBBOOOO!" Abomasnow roared as it swung a huge hammer swiftly through the air sending a wave of snow rushing toward Scythe and his pokemon. "BON BON!" Easter screams as it's shot backwards from the massive wave.

"Ahh Guys watch out!" Scythe screams out to his other two pokemon as the waves of snow come rushing at them. "Pikaaaa!!!! Pidgooo! AHHHH!" Chukapis, Pidgeotto and Scythe scream as the snow pile drives them into the cave wall.

"Guys are you ok..."Scythe asks the three pokemon as the all slowly get up. "Damn none of that worked at all....i think we need a new plan guys...or its the end of the road for us..." the worried trainer sadly commented. "Pikaachuuu!" Chukapis hollers as it stands up and shows it's ready to fight for Scythe. "PIDGOTO! BON!" the other two pokemon chant as they gladly join in with Chukapis.

"Hmmph alright guys...let's go out with a fight than!" Scythe justicley yells as the four stand up and face their opponents. "Haha...Abomasnow finish them with Ice Shard!" The white cloaked trainer chuckles in an evil way as he operates his pokemon.

"Chukapis stop the ice with a thundershock, and Pidgeotto use whirlwind to help blow them back, Easter use defense curl to protect yourself!" Scythe leads as he sends out orders to his pokemon. "ABOMOO!" Abomasnow roars as huge pieces of ice begin to appear all around it. "Here it comes guys!" Scythe yells out preparing everyone.

"Now" the white cloaked trainer gives the que as Abomasnow sends the shards flying at Scythe and his party. As the Ice began to dive down at them, Scythe watched as his pokemon fought their hardest to protect him. "PIka!" Chukapis exclaims as it cotinues to send lighting bolts at each piece of ice. Pidgeotto continues to send wind at the ice blowing it backwards.

"It's working!" Scythe joyfully remarks until he sees more and more ice appearing and his pokemon slowly wearing out. "pi....ka..." Chukapis cries as it falls to the ground. "Chukapis!!!!" Scythe worridley screams as he runs over and covers Chukapis from the ice shards.

"Pidg....o...." Pidgeotto than cries as it begins to get smacked by the ice shards and falls to the ground. "Pidgeotto! Easter!" Scythe hollers as he watches his other pokemon get pummeled with ice. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he than screams in pain and agony as the ice begins to strike his body.

He than looks down at Chukapis who he is protecting, and the two share a smile before Scythe realizes he has to stop it..."Everyone return..."Scythe weakly calls out as he returns all of his pokemon to their pokeballs.

The ice shards stop and Scythe is just laying their starring at the ceiling with his pokeballs laying around him. "I'm sorry guys...you tried your best...I guess it's my fault.." he says to his pokemon feeling bad he couldn't help them win.

"Everyone else is down to...damnit...i guess we weren't strong enough after all.." Scythe weakly says as he tries to sit up. The white cloaked trainers then back up and stay out of the way as the black cloaked trainer once again makes his way to the center of the cave.

"Ohhh that was quite entertaining hahaha, have you not realized yet, this whole time I have been toying with you!!" He says smartly, as he pauses then begins again...

"This time though.. is much different.. your getting stronger everyday and surely we can't have that, I thought after the Falkner death they would shut the gyms down and you would all be forced to stop... But no.. oh well just means we had to handle this matter a different way.." He says as he pulls a pokeball out from his cloak and realeases a Skarmory...

"Nooo this cant be it..." Scythe painfully says to himself as he looks around at everyone elses faces he knows their in as much pain and disbeliefe as him.

"Goodbye! Haha" he laughs merrily as his Skarmory cocks itself back getting ready to fly around deleivring the final blow to each of you... As it takes off another pokemon jumps in it's path and stops it dead... It's an Infernape! You start to wonder whats going on... as a trainer walks up behind it..

"Who...who is that..and what pokemon is that?" Scythe questions quietly as he watches the events unfolding in the room.

"All of you go now!!" The unknown man shouts as he seems to be unaffected by the evil in this room.. its as if he has faced much worse than this.... this man stands at about 5'5 but he is built very well in an athletic sense.. He seems to be about mid to end 60's but is in great shape for his age... "This guy...his pokemon...he's amazing!" Scythe says in a starstruckt kind of way.

"All of you now get out of here!" the trainer says pointing down a tunnel that must lead out of here.. Scythe and the rest of the trainers take off out the tunnel. Scythe turns his head around and sees the man release two other powerful looking pokemon.

Scythe than barley makes out something that the man in the black cloak says, "Well well, it seems I have an unepxected guest.. and a familiar one at that.. Grecko"

"Grecko? Well whoever that trainer was...he sure was awesome...but can we really trust him?"
The panicking trainer says as he and the others emerge from the caves.

"The ruins of Alph? What is that?" he than says as he reads a sign outside the cave.

Scythe glances back into the caves and than something sharp snaps in the back of his head. "Ouch!" Scythe screams out as he rubs the back of his head. "Ga **** these headaches..." he than mutters as he wonders what he and the others should do next.

"BOOOOOOM!!! a loud roar from uptop the cave rings as Grecko bursts through the wall. "Woah who is this guy!" Scythe exclaims in a whacky manner as he sees the man's Blastoise shoot cannons of water off a wall to keep them in the air. "Why is he whistling though?" Scythe awkwardly questions as he sees Grecko whistle.

"My Dragonite and a few of my friends Pokemon!" He yelled. "Get on and go, NOW!" Grecko yelled just as The black cloaked man breaks through. "Ah..?" Scythe just stands still as the other trainers hop on pokemon and fly away. "Well I guess it's you and me!" the boy laughs as he hops on the last pokemon left, a Togekiss.

"TOGE!" Togekiss chants as it soars off into the air. After flying for almost ten mintues Scythe notices something wraped around Togekiss's head. "Whats this?" he says as he unfolds the note.

"I just wanted to let you know to continue your journey, the stronger you become the better use you will be. No matter what the danger you must push through. There are others out there watching after you, they will take precaution to keep you safe. Good luck!"

Prof. Elm.

Scythe was stunned for a second, he didn't know what to think. He had just been ambushed, tied up, his pokemon and him were obliterated in battle, and now he's flying on a weird egg like pokemon with no potions or anything. "Well I guess i gotta keep going.." he stopped for a second and decided it was best.

"TOGE!" Togekiss chanted again as it lowered to the ground. "Well Togekiss thanks for the ride! and could you give this note to Grecko?" Scythe asked as he slipped a new note where the old one once was. Togekiss shook it's head and than took off. "What a friendly pokemon!" Scythe said as he laughed for the first time since Falkner's death.

"Come on out everyone!" Scythe commanded as he tossed out all of his pokemon. All three pokemon came out but none of them looked to good.

"How do you guys feel?" Scythe asked as he walked over and rubbed Chukapis's head. The pokemon just sat their and relaxed for a bit and Scythe knew they deserved it. "Don't worry guys will be at the next city shortly...i'm sure there is a pokemon center there!" Scythe said giving hope to the pokemon.

He than returned them to their pokeballs again and started walking forward hoping to make it the town fast. "teddi Teddi!" a smallish pokemon said as it jumped out of a tree and jumped on Scythe's face.

"Ahh what the hell!" Scythe began to scream as he struggled to get the little bear off his head. "Get off!!!" Scythe yelled as he chucked the tiny pokemon off of his head and into a tree. "Teddi!!!!" the Teddiursa began to cry. "Huh? but you were attacking me?" Scythe said over to the pokemon as he pulled out his pokedex to learn more about it.

"Teddiursa tends to cry a lot if it doesn't get it's way. This could be due to the fact that it is still pretty much a baby. Teddiursa does however evolve into Ursaring a really strong pokemon that packs a powerful punch!" The pokedex read out to Scythe. "Wow that thing evolves into an Ursaring? That would be such a great pokemon to have and it would definalty bring some power to the team!" Scythe began to scheme in his head as he watched the little pokemon cry.

"Ok come on out Chuka...oh I guess I shouldn't let any of my pokemon battle...i really can't risk it...but that doesn't mean I can't try and weaken it without them!" He quickly thought up as he took his hand off his pokeballs and walked over to the crying Teddiursa.

"Aww what's wrong little guy?" Scythe asks the pokemon as he got really close up to it's face. "Ted?" Teddiursa whispered as it stopped crying and just looked at Scythe with it's finger by it's mouth. "The pokemon then jumped up and back onto Scythe's face.

"AHH hey get off!!!!!" Scythe begins to scream as his headache begins to get worse from the constant pulling of Teddiursa's claws. "Tedi Tedi Tedi Tedi Tedi Tedi!" Teddiursa cries out as Scythe continues to pull back and fourth on the little bear.

"GET OFF!!!!" Scythe roars as he once again rips the little bear pokemon off his face, but instead throws it straight up into the air. "Ok your mine!" Scythe yells at the pokemon as he grabs a big stick from the ground.

"come on come on.." Scythe muttered as he stared and patiently waited for the bear to drop out of the sky. "Tedi Tedi Tedi Tedi!!!" it cried as it watched Scythe swing the stick and hit it right across the chest. "TEDIIIII..." Teddiursa cries as it slams into another tree and slides down unconcious.

"Haha alright that worked!" Scythe exclaimed as he chucked a pokeball at the Teddiursa. "I better catch you after all the fuss you put up!" Scythe laughed as he rubbed his face and watched the pokeball move back and fourth. The pain in the back of his head worsening and worsening...

It didn't take long to locate the Center. Liliana was the first to admit that her Pokémon needed some serious healing before she would even attempt to defeat the leader. She was wondering what they would do next, and Sahib was obviously doing the same. "Well.. I suppose we can meet each other here at the end of the day?" he suggested. Liliana noticed Nurse Joy waving her over.

"Sure, yeah. Don't lose big guy." She laughed as she went to take her Pokémon back. Nurse Joy did her usual, "we hope to see you again" speech and she was off. She hadn't noticed exactly how hungry she had been until her stomach decided to make itself know. All she had eaten today was… Wait was it still today? How long had they been out anyway? It could be a whole new day.

She decided to get some take-out Chinese and settled on a bench looking over a park, She let out her Pokémon. Abu immediately grabbed the apple she was offering him and then disappeared up a tree. Nala got some Poké Food and so did Djali. They were all happily munching up some food, Lili was having a splendid time eating her bami. Chinese wasn't her favourite but it would do.

"Abu, come on down, I have a surprise for you." She smiled at the Pokémon. She retrieved a disk that shone of black energy. The Aipom immediately looked at it with big eyes. "I want you to learn Payback, little one. It'll help us a great deal." Abu reached his tail toward the disk and as soon as he touched it he glowed the same black for a second. Then he suddenly hit the air with his tail. The disc itself broke into two pieces. Aipom had learned Payback.

After the meal was over she went looking for the Gym. It wasn't as obvious as the great dome of Falkner had been. She had to ask some directions first but in the end she found it. The building was surrounded by green and completely closed off. There were doors that led into a sort of front hallway. The doors into the actual gym had black tinted windows. The moment she stepped into it she heard the skitter of legs moving away and the rustle of grass. She couldn't see anything because it was pitch black.

She let her hand trace the side of the wall and finally found a switch. When she flipped it about half a dozen long PL lights buzzed on. There were Spinarak everywhere in the trees and Kakuna were hanging, giving her death glares. She wasn't going to lie, bug Pokémon freaked her out a little bit.

"Why do you people always do that?! Turn off the lights immediately!" she caught a glimpse of a green haired man with a goatee. She fumbled with the lights before she was able to shut it off. Now there was light everywhere from little buzzing Volbeat in jars. It still wasn't entirely lit up and the light have the place an eerie glow, but she could at least see. The green haired man stepped forward with a ball in his right hand and a net in his left.

"Well I assume you've come for a battle, am I right?" He still sounded a bit annoyed.

"T.. That's right."

"Well get on with it then, Pineco!" He released a Pokémon that would have fitted the description of a pinecone. Liliana assumed that was where the name came from anyway. It was a silvery blue with big red eyes and no other facial features. Or a face for that matter.

"Let's go Djali!" The Shinx glowed with anticipation for a second before locking eyes with her opponent. She was ready for another battle. But so was the Pineco.

"Pineco, start with a rapid spin!" Bugsy sounded about as confident as a green haired man with a goatee could sound. Which was pretty confident.

"Djali, dodge it and use bite!" The pinecone started spinning dangerously fast. Djali was ready to dodge, but suddenly the Pineco shot forward. It was too fast to dodge and Djali got hit full on. The opponent came again, and just like before it was too fast to dodge. Djali jumped out of the way and avoided getting hit full on, but she got hit nevertheless. This wasn't the perfect start Liliana had hoped for.

"Okay, forget about Bite, try to shoot him down with a spark."It wasn't going well for them. Every time Djali used spark the Pineco had already gotten past the spot and hit Djali. She really wasn't doing well. "Concentrate!" All Liliana could do was try to get Djali to concentrate. The Pineco didn't stop spinning as it flew toward Djali again, but this time it as stopped in its tracks by a jolt of electricity. It had been a few inches from Djali, but she had located the opponent and shot a spark.

"Great Djali, now use bite!" Djali instantly jumped up to the Pineco but a as soon as she came close Bugsy ordered a protect and Djlai crashed into an invisible wall. She come up huffing, but she was obviously tired. "Djali, try again!" Djali jumped at the opponent again. It tried to make another wall, but Liliana knew how unreliable they could be if you sued them in a row. So Djali got through without a problem and bit down hard on the bug pokémon's hard shell. She was not prepared for the next command however.

"Pineco, use self-destruct." Pineco glowed red for a second before a large explosion shook the building. The only one harmed however was Djali. She was simply in no condition to fight anymore. Liliana decided it was time for the new additions to the team to prove himself.

Bugsy released his Beedrill first. It zoomed angrily as it was released. "Abu, go do your best!" She knew the monkey's strengths lay in his speed and she was going to make the most of these. "Beedrill use twineedle," Bugsy ordered it with the same calm determination. "Abu dodge them all!" The bug's white stingers glowed white while it released a sea of needles all directed at Abu. In the half-dark the stingers lit up and provided another temporary source of light that was quite blinding. But the needles also lit up and made it easy for Abu to spot and dodge. He did this with noticeable ease.

"Beedrill, use fury attack." For this attack Beedrill had to get closer to its opponent. "Abu, dodge and use scratch," Liliana called. The bee crossed the distance between the two and started to use its stingers as drills. It punched forward but Abu dodged them all and used its tiny arms in a scratch. Beedrill was obviously not happy with that. Bugsy also made not if this.

"Beedrill, use Rage!" The Beedrilcame forward with such anger, it lashed out on Aipom but he didged again, and used scratch. This didn't seem to help the problem though, because it made the Beedrill even angrier. Which gave Liliana an idea.

"Now Abu, let him hit you!" The Beedrill didn't clue in to the trick and hit Abu as hard as he could. "And use pay back!" The moment after Abu got hit he swung his tail and hit Beedrill with all he could. The attack was doubled by the hit on Aipom and Beedrill slammed into the ground hard. It was unable to get up. Abu did a bit of a crazy victory dance and Lili just laughed.

"Come back Beedrill, worthy fight. Butterfree your turn." A purple butterfly entered the battlefield from behind him. The first thing Liliana noticed was that its wings were tinged with yellow. "Abu, use astonish!" Abu jumped quickly away and around the Pokémon when it was behind it he jumped at it while making loud and freaky sounds. He brought his gigantic tail down on the Pokémon and the butterfly slammed onto the ground. It was also momentarily flinched. All it could do was flutter up gain and look around nervously.

"Abu, now use scratch!" Lili called and Abu nodded. He jumped up and scratch and the butterfree. It snapped out of it and answered with a silver wind. It fluttered its wings at high speed and a gust of wind was formed with silver powder in it. It was a lot harder to dodge wind and Abu got hit. The silver powder seemed to hurt him also, but the butterfree got stronger from it.

"Abu I want you to use astonish again, okay?" Once again a small nod. But this time Bugsy was ready. "Butterfree, use gust, blow it far away from you." The butterfly's wings went on hyper speed again and a powerful gust was thrown at Abu and he was thrown so far he landed against a tree. The inhabitants of the tree, three Kakuna, watched him curiously as he scrambled up.

This wasn't going well. There wasn't a way to dodge the gust unless you could fly. Liliana had noticed that the wind was limited to Butterfree's level. It had to aim down toward Abu to give him the full blast, and the space up in the air was empty. But this was not Oz, there were no flying monkeys. But there might be another way. Just like she expected Bugsy gave his Pokémon the same order, a gust.

"Abu, I want you to lean on your tail, but don't lift yourself up! You are going to bounce up above the butterfree and smack it down. You got that?" There was no time to get a response. The wings were once again moving like they were on acid. Liliana briefly wondered how such thin wings could move so fast they called up an intense wind. Abu seemed to wait, the big hand on his tail was secured on the floor and coiled up like a spring. When the wind came Abu released his tail and swerved into the air. At first he didn't seem to have control over it, he just flew helplessly toward his target. Then he made a summersault into the air and swung his tail down right onto Butterfree's head. The Pokémon smacked into the grassy ground for the second time this match, but this time it wasn't getting up.

One more to go, Liliana thought, I might not have to use Nala. But she doubted Abu would last against the strongest of Bugsy's Pokémon. He was already panting. His speed and accuracy were failing with his fatigue. He wouldn't last long. Bugsy revealed without a sound his last Pokémon. This one actually came from a Ball, and it manifested into… a strange red thing… It looked rather silly with its curled mustache and knives. Hey, this guy had a better 'stache than any of the men she knew.

"Come on Abu, let's finish this!" She said it but she didn't believe it. Not for Abu anyway. "Use astonish!" The monkey swerved around the oversized cricket and did his whole frightening-sound-hit. The Kricketune was momentary astonished, but it just shook his head and waited for its master's command. "Kricketune, use sing." The confidence had gone from his voice. It sounded as if Bugsy wasn't all too sure he would win anymore.

The Kricketune moved its wings and arms in a strange way and a tune came out of it. It made Liliana a little drowsy, but it had the biggest affect on Abu. He curled up and slept, there would almost be little Z's coming out above him. "Now finish this with an X-scissors." The Kricketune jumped over Abu and made an X-like cut. Aipom got thrown a few feet from the impact and he was out.

"Come back little one. Nala, come on I believe in you." There was a reason why Liliana had waited to bring out Nala. Sahib was right, a grass type would almost be as bad here as in the bird gym. But she had pulled it off there and she would pull it off now. "Nala start with a tackle!" She was reluctant to send Nala close to Kricketot, but a razor leaf would have near to no affect. This would have to do it. Good thing Abu had been able to land one attack on it. Nala ran toward Kricketune and hit it. It got pushed a couple of inches back and looked as if it were in pain, but Bugsy knew exactly what to do.

"Kricketot use bug buzz." Suddenly the wings moved again. But instead of a sleeping melody there was no sound. But obviously Nala thought different. She got blown back from an invisible sound wave. It did her considerable damage. Lili's heart sank. Staying in long range was not going to cut it. She had to resort to a familiar trick.

"Nala I want you to get in close range. You know what to do don't you?" Nala looked back and gave a reassuring note. Nala knew exactly what to do. She pretended to swing into a tackle. "Kricketune I want you to use X-scissor again. Make it final this time!"Nala charged recklessly and just as the Kricketune was lowering its arms into a slash she jumped away, came to a halt and shook herself. The poison that she had been trapping inside her buds was now released everywhere and Kricketune was unfortunate enough to breathe in.

"Nala, now for the final touch, use your strongest tackle!" Nala pushed her shoulder into Kricketune, who was struggling with the poison it had inhaled. She put her entire weight into this one attack and the opponent fell down from the impact. It was out. Nala was the winner. The grass type was panting. Liliana made a mental not never to send her out against a bug unless there was another choice. That one attack had almost downed her on its own.

"Pure luck but I guess I have to give you this now." Bugsy grudgingly handed over a shiny badge. Another one. She smiled and responded. "Yes, let's call it luck shall we. Thanks a lot for the battle. May you have more luck next time." She emphasized the word luck and found Bugsy glaring at her. As she exited the gym she found herself happy to be in sunlight again. Seriously, she did not like bug Pokémon.

She rushed to the Pokémon Center first to heal her Pokémon. She was way too early so she decided to go sightseeing. After a while she abandoned the whole idea of walking and just sat at the familiar park again. Aipom was once again in top condition and went on doing his favorite business. Sitting in trees. Nala was sleeping in the sun, you could almost see the photo synthesis going on in her buds. Djali was chasing her own tail, that silly goose. Liliana herself was watching her Pokémon in amusement. After a while she decided to see if Sahib was done yet. That was when a strange screech sounded.

She ran in the direction of the noise and found that Sahib was running past her. He muttered a hi and she had to call after him to stop him. They both came to a stop at a well. She had a bad feeling about it. Whenever there was a strange sound or something odd going on there was always a cause. And she didn't particularly like the cause.

Azalea Town, the small iscolated town located in southern Johto. The town was full of nice, white dirt road with several grassy fields and bushy trees dotting the town. The nice, crispy wind blew the grass blades and trees around softly. The entire town was nice and quaint, it reminded Damion of Pallet Town.

The boy now stood on the hill that looked over Azalea Town, the crisp wind blew onto Damion's body. The boy's torn up clothes whipped up in the wind, he turned his head to look at Kenneth. The boy's brown hair whipped up in the wind as well,

"Well, guess I'll be seeing you around. I've got a gym battle to win." Damion smirked as he made his way down the hill, his hands shoved in his pockets.

He planted his feet as the ground became level again and turned to the Pokemon Center, the dry blood and dirt on his face, arms, and legs were beginning to bother the boy. The scorch marks on his body still stung as he made his way intot he Pokemon Center.

Damion's eyes widened as he noticed the same nurse from Violet City behind the counter, she had shimmering dark hair and cerulean blue eyes. Her glossy lips widened as she gasped,

"What happened to you?" She worriedly yelled, Damion smirked.

"Oh, I uh...fell." Damion chuckled at his own response. The nurse smiled,

"Okay. Well, may I heal your pokemon?" The nurse smiled, Damion proceeded to hold up his pokeballs and handed them to the her.

"So how come you're here instead of Violet?"

The busty nurse giggled, her dress tightly hugged her hour-glass figure. "Well, Nurse Joy asked me to come here. There is some kind of crisis here with Pokemon."

Damion quickly received his pokeballs and and clipped them on his belt,

"Well thanks. I'll see you later." The boy smirked as he walked out, the nurse giggled. Once Damion exited the Pokemon center, he quickly ran towards a close by Poke Mart. The blue building had nice glass windows and sliding doors, a rather large blue sign out in front. Damion quickly stopped by the front counter and bouth two potions and Antidotes before heading out.

_______________________________

The gym was large and made of clear glass, dark green leaves being pressed up against the glass. The dome-shaped gym towered over the boy as he entered the large sliding doors. The large gym was pitch black, nothing but a dark abyss. Damion quickly turned around as the doors closed and locked,

"What is this?" Damion walked aimlessly around with his arms stretched out, as to not bump into anything. He soon tripped on a rock as fell flat on his face, the boy grumbled as he placed his hand on a nearby tree to stand up. His fingers seemed to click in a button, loud nosies could be heard as the lights in the gym were flipped on.

The gym was finally visible, dark brown dirt covered the forest floor. Large underbrush and tall trees covered most of the gym, the trees reached to the top of the dome and towered over the boy. Hundreds of spider pokemon quickly scattered from the center of the floor underneath the bows of the trees. Many cacoon pokemon quickly fell down, eye-level with Damion.

The boy glared at the cacoon pokemon, the pokemon were scared and quickly reeled up. THe boy walked down the forest until he finally reached a strange hole in the ground, a web-like tram system linked the two sides. Several spider looking carts traveled through the web lining, one of those Spider carts quickly pulled up to Damion. The boy stepped onto the cart, the spider took off.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" A large man screamed at Damion, the boy's eyes widened as his Spider cart stopped. The boy scrambled and tried not to fall into the deep crater. Damio looked up and saw a man standing on the opposite end of the gym, the man had brilliant emerald hair reaching down to his jaw line with a green gotigue. He was rather tall and muscular, the man was wearing what seemed to be a camper's outfit. He carried a very large Bug Catching net, he held out his hand as the net extended and hit a switch on a tree near him.

The lights quickly turned off, leaving the gym dark. Nothing but silence filled the gym, Damion darted his head around. The darkness was quickly pierced by small threads of light that gradually got bigger and bigger, Damion's spider cart stopped in front of another identical one. The boy quickly jumped to the new cart as it took off, Damion looked next to him to see a stout man standing besides him.

The boy looked back up and sweatdropped, hoping the man wouldn't see him.

"......" The man then turned to see Damion, his glasses seemed to light up.

"Howdy howdy. If it isn't the Elm Trainer. What's up?" Random Gym Guy smiled happily, apparently delighted by something.

Damion flicked hair out of his eyes as he looked around the giant room. "Nothing much. I suppose you never got those girls to talk to you, eh?"

Random Gym Guy flinched. "You wouldn't know. For less lucky guys like us, we have to rely on smarts, not looks. You have no clue how hard it is to get attention as a…..ah…."

"Nerd." Damion smirked, "So any news on Mr. Freak over there?"

"…….Some. Not much. As you know, Bugsy is a bug trainer, and therfore you should use Fire types."

Just as Random Gym Guy said this, the spider cart locked on the web rail as they reached the start of the road leading to Bugsy.

"But I don't have any fire pokemon." Damion said as he stepped off of the cart and looked back at Random Gym Guy.

"Have fun being beaten!" Random Gym Guy smiled frantically as the spider cart rolled away. Damion sweatdropped and continuted to walk towards Bugsy. The boy smirked as the man stepped down from his small podium and pointed his net at Damion,

"What kind of an idiot turns on lights in a bug gym?!" The man scolded, Damion scoffed.

"The kind that's about to kick your bug ass."

PINECO:
LEVEL 16
Type 1/BUG
Type 2/NONE
ATTACKS:
TACKLE
PROTECT
RAPID SPIN
SELF DESTRUCT

"Pineco!"

"Taro."

In a cloud of smoke, Taro quickly laped towards the center of the battle field. In a similar fashion, Pineco appeared out of his pokeball. The Pineco's shifty eyes glared at Taro,

"Bite."

"Tackle."

Taro opened his gaping mouth, his fangs shimmering, the Pineco quickly launching his body at the Larvitar, head first. Pineco quickly rammed into Taro, who plunged his teeth into the brittle skin of the Pineco. The two pokemon were launched back Damion's way, Taro still biting on the Pineco. The two pokemon quickly pulled away from their attacks,

"Bite." Damion ordered, Taro quickly leaped towards the Pineco with its teeth ready.

"Protect!" The Pineco's eyes glowed a faint pink as a dome was produced around the Pineco. The dome of pink energy shielded Pineco from the Bite attack, Taro's teeth plunged into the wall of the barrier. Taro quickly pulled away as the attack faded away,

"Rock Slide." Damion ordered with a flick of his hand, Taro growled as the tip of his hands glowed a bright white. A boulder quickly was produced from the ground, a large crater was produced in the ground. The boulder was launched at the Pineco,

"Crap. Protect!!" Bugsy ordered, a pink dome was produced around Pineco. But the pokemon's eyes widened as the dome began to flicker and completely vanished, the boulder striking the bug pokemon and pinning it against the trunk of a large tree.

"Ha! Protect's effect is lowered if it is used in succession!" Damion chuckled.

"Don't lecture me about my own Pokemon. Rapid Spin!!" Bugsy smirked as the Pineco spun at high speed, quickly drilling through the boulder and making his way towards Taro.

"Grgh." Damion growled as he analyzed the situation, "Screech!"

Taro's screech produced a tunnel of high-pitched sound waves that drastically slowed down the Pineco.

"Don't give up Pineco."

"Keep up that Screech Taro!"

Both trainer's eyes were filled with the fiery passion for battling. Neither pokemon seemed to be faltering, but finally the Pineco collided with Taro. Launching it several yards down the battle field,

"Grgh!" Damion smirked as he thought up a plan,

"Rock Slide!"

"Come on now, think will you?" Bugsy smirked as he ordered Pinco to use Rapid SPin, the Pineco quickly drilled through the boulder. Once the bug pokemon had completely drilled through the boulder, a sand storm was whipped up. Thanks to the Rapid Spin, all of the sand and debri were attracted to Pineco. An orb of dirt and debri quickly formed around Pineco,

"Ha! Now he can't see where he's going!"

"Pineco! Stop!!"

Bugsy quickly ordered his Pineco to stop the attack, the bug pokemon slowly fell to the floor with all of the dirt and debri. Taro quickly took advantage of this and dug his teeth into the Pineco, who fell to the floor. Swirls in his eyes, Taro towered over the fainted PIneco with victory in his chest.

Both trainer's quickly returned their pokemon and held out their second pokemon. Both of them staring at each other.

BUTTERFREE:

Type 1/BUG
Type 2/FLYING
ATTACKS:
CONFUSION
STUN SPORE
GUST
SILVER WIND

"Butterfree!!"

"Go, Sprink."

A large, blue butterfly pokemon appeared in a cloud of smoke. It's large white wings spread out wide, its red eyes scanned its surroundings. A sheep pokemon appeared on the opposite side of the Butterfree its large, puffy fur glowed.

"Right then. Butterfree, start things off with a Confusion!"

Butterfree shook its feathers and it began to float towards Taro, its antenna's standing on end and its red eyes glowing brightly.

"Sprink, Thundershock him while he's charging!"

Sprink inhaled, her tail standing on end and releasing a long stream of electricity that struck the Butterfree in his wings. The bug pokemon faltered, then shook the small sparks off as it launched a light beam of psychic energy that struck Sprink.

"Crap."

"Confusion not only does some damage, but causes confusion for a short period of time…." Bugsy smirked.

"Butterfree, Gust the Mareep for some extra damage!"

Buterfree flapped his powerful wings once again, then launched a poerful gust of wind at the Mareep. The winds causing little damage due to the electric type nature.

"Alright Sprink, hold in there! Use thunderwave to slow HIM down!"

Sprink felt dizzy, her confusion was starting to go away. But she had to win this. It was her very first gym battle. She let out a small strip of electricity that quickly surrounded the Butterfree.

"Free? Butterfree…" The bug pokemon tried to shake off the coil of electricity desperately.

"Butterfree, Silver Wind and blow it away!"

"Not so fast. Sprink, Thundershock!" Damion ordered, and the electric bolt struck Butterfree dead on.

Butterfree's body was now shocked by the super effective attack, and he fell to the ground, limp and weak.

"Argh….Return Butterfree!" Brock returned his pokemon and looked at Damion. The boy smirked, letting Sprink go out for one more pokemon.

BEDRILL:
LEVEL 18
Type 1/BUG
Type 2/POISON
ATTACKS:
FURY ATTACK
TWIN NEEDLE
FOCUS ENERGY

RAGE

"BEEDRILL!!"

"Stay in there Sprink, you can do it."

A golden bee appeared, two large needles pointed at Damion and Sprink. The Mareep stood strong and pointed her nose in the air.

"Sprink, stall it with Thunderwave."

"Beedrill, fly upward and dodge it! Then retaliate with a Twin Needle!"

Sprink's cloudy fur began to glow, and a single strip of electiricty flew towards Beedrill in a thin line. The bee pokemon dodged it, and her needles were pointed at Sprink. Beedrill quickly buzzed towards the ground and stabbed her needles into Sprink's fur, Sprink was poisoned...badly.

"Sprink! Crap…." Damion clenched his fists.

"Sprink, Thundershock, now." Damion said quickly, while spraying the small sheep with the sweet Antidote from his bag.

Sprink braced herself and let loose a stream of electricity that scorched zapped the Beedrill's wings. The pokemon fluttered to the ground, struggling to fly again.

"Bedrill! Focus Energy, now!" Bugsy said, while giving the bee a Super Potion. It immediately gained use of its wings, and made a small ring of fiery energy to appear.

"Now Beedrill, Rage!!!!!!!!!!!" Bugsy shouted.

"Try another Thundershock!"

The electricity shot towards Beedrill quickly, and shocked the bee yet again. It flopped to the ground, wings useless. Bugsy smirked confidently,

"Fury Attack!!" Beedrill quickly shoved her needles into Sprink's skin repeatedly, Sprink shouted in pain as she was launched back.

"Thundershock!" Damion shouted, and with a flick of her tail a large stream of electricity was launched at Beedrill and completely charred the Bee. It fell to the floor, swirls in its eyes.

"This is the final pokemon. You are doing very well, but this is where it ends." Bugsy smirked.

KRICKETUNE:
LEVEL 22
Type 1/BUG
Type 2/NONE
ATTACKS:
BUG BUZZ
X-SCISSOR
LEECH LIFE
SING

"KRICKETUNE!!"

"Hoot."

With a cloud smoke, Hoot was released and rocketed towards the bug pokemon. The red Kricketune stood tall and proud, daggers in his eyes.
"Hoot, Peck."

"Leech Life!!"

Kricketune quickly raised its two large arms and launched a spiraling green stream of energy that coiled around the owl, draining its energy. Hoot faltered and quickly flapped its wings to rid himself of of leech life and peck at the Kricketune. The bug pokemon screeched in pain, but the pokemon quickly began to let out a nice and calm melody.

"That won't work. Hoot has the Insomnia ability. Ha." Bugsy growled as Damion smirked.

"Hoot, Peck!" Damion ordered, Bugsy shook his head.

"That isn't going to work. Kricketune, X-Sciss-"

But he froze in mid-sentence.

The small Hoothoot was hurtling toward Kricketune…..

And he was glowing.

The bright white light enveloped the flying pokemon's body. He grew larger, shifted, and changed. His body became larger, more muscular. His wingspan grew to phenomenal proportions. A large eyepiece, similar to an eyebrow.

The light faded, and a menacing, brown Noctowl dug his razor beak into the Kricketune's fleshy skin.

The kricket pokemon staggered, falling to the ground again. Bugsy snarled and took out a Hyper Potion, ready to spray it on his pokemon.

"Now, Hoot!" Damion shouted, and the Noctowl moved so fast he was a blur. His brown body collided with Kricketune's, and the bug was thrown into the air, landing with a thud on the ground.

"Now, Hypnosis." Damion grinned as the large eyepiece glowed a faint purple, releasing a blue ring of energy that collided with the bug. Quickly knocking it asleep, the bug pokemon snored happily.

"Ha. Peck attack!" Damion snapped his fingers as the large Noctowl stuck out his razor sharp beak and knocked the Kricketune back into the gym leader's chest.

"I belive that's the match." Damion smirked, the large Noctowl flew back and hovered over Damion. Hoot was much too large to perch on the boy's shoulder anymore, Damion grinned and recalled his pokemon. Bugsy approached the boy, making his way across the broken floor and uprooted trees. The man towered over Damion in stature, but humbly smiled.

"Well then, I guess little punk's CAN win badges. Your battle style reminds me of a young fellow." Bugsy chuckled deeply and patted the boy on the back, causing Damion to nearly fall over. The boy chuckled fakely as he was handed a shimmering red badge, he quickly pinned it right on his right breast. The Hive Badge shimmered alongside the Zephyr Badge,

"Well then, I guess this is goodbye." Bugsy shook Damion's hand, nearly breaking it.
__________________________________

The boy trudged into the Pokemon Center and walked up the front counter, Damion clothes were every more tattered and he had several more scratches around his body. The gym battle was harsh,

"Hello! I see you won the Hive Badge, congratulation!" The perky nurse giggled, Damion grinned and handed her his pokeball. He tried to catch his breath as he looked down at his PokeGear, Bugsy's number was now succesfully registered.

"Here you go." The nurse smiled as she handed him his pokeballs,

"Thanks. So where do you suggest I go now?" He asked the nurse, who was about to reply when a loud noise could be heard. It was a whining noise that seemed to echo through the entire town and disturb the silence,

"I'm sorry. I need to go see what's going on." Damion apoligized as he ran off, the nurse tried to run after the boy. But was stopped by a fellow nurse,

"Wait!" She called out, but Damion was already on his way to a nearby cave. The boy ran to the outskirst of town, where the trees grew darker and the grass seemed burnt. He looked at a nearby cave entrance, the cave wall dripped with moisture. The boy glared into the well, shadows lurked inside. Just another black abyss, Damion was used to it.

The boy sighed as he heard the noise again...

Kenneth watched as Damion walked off with his hands in his pocket. He smiled and waved at the boy. "The best of luck to you then!" The younger boy stopped for a second and then kept walking. Kenneth looked up to view Azalea. It was a small town, the smallest the Kenneth had seen anyway. But it was nice and quiet and few people moved around.

His stomached growled and he grabbed it. 'Man, I haven't eaten since the lake. I think I'll stop by a restaurant after going to the pokemon center. Then head on over to the gym, Damion should be done by then.' He groaned as his stomach growled again and headed off for the Pokemon Center.

It was quite easy to find in such a small town. In fact, it was actually in the middle of the town. He grinned at the sight of it and looked down at his pokeballs. "Just a bit longer." The doors slid open as he neared them allowing him in. As he entered some people gave him some weird looks. A shiver went down his spine as he sort of became the center of attention and he lowered his head and made his way to the counter where Nurse Joy stood.

"Oh my, what happened to you!?" The boy raised an eyebrow at the question, lost for words. Nurse Joy gave him a mirror and then took his pokeballs to the machine to heal the pokemon. While doing so Kenneth took a good look at himself. His hair was ruffled and his face dirty. His shirt and shorts had small rips and tears and his shoes had gone from white to brown. There were a few scratches along his leg and the skin around his wrist was pink, having had the top layers of his dermis ripped off.

He blinked as he looked in the mirror and shook his head. Nurse Joy turned back to him with his pokeballs and a key. "Here this key is to one of the rooms in the back, you should go clean yourself up. Once you're back I'll bandaged your wrists for you." Kenneth thanked her as he took his pokeballs and the keys and headed for one of the guest rooms.

Inside he decided that he would let his pokemon out for a bit. Lily looked at him and lowered her head, while Miles jumped to the bed and lay down. Lia kept to herself alone in a corner. He frowned. "Aww, come on guys don't be like that. You did the best you could and I'm proud of you all for that." He gathered them all up and gave them a hug. "So, don't down yourselves."

He grabbed his bag and took out his toiletries. He then looked over at his pokemon who seemed to be in a better mood. "Now I'm going to go clean myself up and when I get back, we're going to eat!" All of their heads perked up at the mention of food. It felt like it had been a long time since they had eaten, though in reality it was only a few hours ago.

After taking a shower and washing his clothes and shoes Kenneth was ready to go. He finished up by combing his hair back into its usual fashion. His pokemon were already ready to go by the time he had everything back into his bag. His wrist were sore and really hurt a lot though he managed to toughen up through the pain and carry on with what he was doing.

Back at the lobby Nurse Joy treated his wrist and then bandaged them. He sighed as his wrist felt better and he thanked her once again. She warned him to be careful and to try and not do much in the meantime. He only nodded and headed out of the Center. He popped back in a second later.

"Umm, where's the nearest restaurant?"

"Just a bit down the road going towards the forest. You shouldn't miss it." The nurse replied with a smile. Kenneth thanked her and headed out once again with his pokemon in tow. He followed her directions when he began to think about the forest. 'Hmm, Prof. said that the Ilex forest had stopped in time and yet this town seems to be unaffected by it. I wonder…' Before he could finish that thought the sweet smell of freshly cooked food reached his nose and he shook in joy.

The restaurant wasn't big, but it was very busy. Most of the tables were filled by both humans and pokemon. The best thing about it was that it was free for trainers. That meant that he could save his money for the Pokemart later on. The waitress came to his table and winked at him. "And what does a young handsome kid like you want today?" The boy blushed and shoved his head into the menu and looked around.

"Umm, I'll take the spaghetti combo with Jones Cream Soda and have Mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. For my pokemon I just need three bowls of poffin, sweet for Lia, spicy for Miles, and sour for Lily." Kenneth said pointing at each pokemon as he said their name so that the waitress would know who got what. She gave him a sweet smile and took his menu. "I'll be right back with your order."

She came back a while later with the Mozzarella sticks, cream soda, and poffins. "Here you go and your main order will be ready shortly." Kenneth thanked her and began to eat. Miles took a sniff of his food before digging in along with Lily. Lia took her time eating, enjoying the sweetness of her poffin. Every now and then her eyes would sparkle and she would squeal in delight.

After a few minutes Kenneth was finished and the waitress came with his main dish. "Here you go. Enjoy your meal!" The boy nodded and once she was going he dug into his plate.

"Are you sure you should be eating right now?" A voice asked across the table. Kenneth glanced up to see a familiar face sitting at his table. He wiped his mouth and looked up at the boy. "Well, why not." The blonde headed kid smirked and held up a badge. It resembled the back of a ladybug. "Because if you waste time, you'll fall behind."

Kenneth stared at the badge for a second and finished the last bite of his meal. "Well, Ruston, I only just got here. Not to mention I'm sure he's getting a lot of challenges today so I decided to eat first. Ya know, give him a break." The other boy laughed as he stood up. "Well aren't you a nice kid." He set a folded piece of paper on the table and called his Budew, who was playing with Lia over to him. He left without saying a word. 'Okay…' He wiped his hands and picked up the piece of paper.

On it was Ruston's number and a small note that read:

If you ever need help just call. Also, don't take so long getting to Goldenrod like you did getting to Azalea.

Kenneth blinked again, not sure what to think. He considered the boy to be his rival but never expected that they may actually become good friends. He looked over at his pokemon who were finished with their food. "Okay guys, let's go get that Hivebadge!"

~~

Kenneth stood at the front of the Gym and stared. The lights looked to be out even though the door was cracked open. He stepped inside to find that he couldn't see anything. He heard something walking across the grass floor and threw his hand to the wall, searching for the light switch. He flipped it on and watched as hundreds of Spinarak scatted to the shade of the trees inside.

"Kuna!" He glanced up and jumped as he saw Kakuna hanging from the ceiling, each one of the staring at him.

"Geez, how many of you are going to keep cutting the lights on! Please, turn it off, you're upsetting the pokemon!" Kenneth looked at the direction of the voice and saw a man with green hair and a goatee standing on the opposite side of the gym. He held a bug-catching net in his hand. Kenneth's hand returned to the wall and searched for the switch once again.

When the lights were out he noticed that the whole gym was dimly lit by Volbeats in jars all over the gym. Kenneth's gaze stopped at the Gym Leader, Bugsy. He stood with a pokeball in his hand and grinned at Kenneth.

"So you're here for a battle as well. You're the fourth trainer to show up today." A smirk played on Kenneth's lips as he took a step forward and nodded. 'So, some of the others have already fought. Well, knowing them they won, so I can't lose here!'

"Okay, then let's go!" He threw his pokeball into the air and a blue pinecone pokemon came out. "Pineco!"

Pineco, the Bagworm Pokemon. It likes to make its shell thicker by adding layers of tree bark. The additional weight doesn't bother it.

Kenneth reached for a pokeball, having recalled his pokemon before arriving at the gym. He looked at the pokemon inside and gave her a small nod. "Okay, show 'em what you've got, Lia!" He yelled as he called out his Sunkern. The seed pokemon gave a squeal and faced off against the bug pokemon. Bugsy looked from the grass type to it trainer and back to the pokemon.

"Okay, Tackle Pineco!" The man was confident, especially since Kenneth had decided to use a grass type. Pineco jumped forward and charged at Lia. Kenneth counted every hop, watching the distance that was covered with each one. Pineco closed in and deducting from the distance, Kenneth knew this one would hit Lia.

"Now dodge!" Lia hopped to the side as Pineco landed on the spot where she once stood. "Now, growth and mega drain!" She glowed brightly for a second before a green beam shot from her head-leaf. "Protect!" A barrier appeared around Pineco and the beam bounced off.

"Rapid Spin!" Pineco started to spin at a high speed and rushed Lia. He connected knocking the seed pokemon into a tree. "Again!"

"Lia!" Pineco turned, still spinning, and headed for Lia once again. Kenneth watched again, analyzing the battle field and both pokemon. He knew since Lia was a grass type that here moves wouldn't hurt the Pineco. Her only chance at winning the battle was if Kenneth could someone get the Pineco to hurt itself.

"Dodge to the left now!" Lia reacted right upon the command and hopped to the left, leaving the Pineco charging at the tree. Bugsy laughed. "Pineco, to your right!" Kenneth shook his head and smirked. 'With Pineco going that fast, he won't be able to move in time…' His smile left his face only seconds later as the Pineco pulled off the turn and tackled Lia once again. Kenneth bit his bottom lip as Lia cried out again.

"Now finish that Sunkern up with one more rapid spin!" Pineco began to spin to again and shot forward at Lia. The seed pokemon was standing in front of another tree. She was breathing heavily and both Bugsy and Kenneth knew that if Pineco's attack hit, then she would be down. Kenneth's heart raced as Pineco neared Lia and then he got the idea. He smiled.

"Lia, grasswhistle!" Trusting him, Lia brought her leaf to her mouth and began to blow. A gentle tune was created that filled the room. Some of the Spinarak that were watching the battle began to sleep. Pineco however kept its charge and then it wobbled to the side a bit. "Now dodge!" Lia jumped to the side long before the pokemon reached her. Bugsy called out for Pineco to stop but it was sleep and crashed into the tree that Lia was once standing in front of.

"Alright! It worked. Now Lia, ingrain!" She glowed green and absorbed nutrients from the ground, healing her little. While she healed Pineco woke up and faced her once again.

"Now Pineco, while it can't move. Rapid spin." Pineco spun against, this time much faster than before. Once it was ready it shot forward at Lia with amazing speed.

"Lia, you know what to do." The seed pokemon called out and the green glow got brighter. Vines ripped from the ground and grabbed a hold of Pineco, but the bagworm pokemon was spinning so fast that the vines ended up getting wrapped around it. Soon where the Pineco once spun was a large ball of vines.

"Nice one, using the vines from ingrain to stop Pineco's rapid spin was a good plan." Bugsy called out.

"Thank you! Now Lia, mega drain!" The vines started to glow.

"Selfdestruct!" Within the pile of vines a red light shined and the next second a large explosion rocked the gym. Kenneth covered his face as pieces of the vines were thrown around the gym. He called out to Lia, but the poor seed pokemon didn't respond having taking the full force of the blast. She and the Pineco were the only ones harmed. Both trainer and leader recalled their pokemon at the same time.

Bugsy was the first to release his pokemon. A Beedrill was his choice and it buzzed around jabbing the air with its stingers.

Beedrill, the Poison Bee Pokemon. It flies at high speed and attacks using the large venomous stingers on its forelegs and tail.

"Okay, go Miles!" The young shinx popped out of his ball with a loud bark. He faced down the Beedrill and glowed. 'It seems that his rivalry ability is in play. That's good. It means we can wrap this up faster than expected.'

"Beedrill, focus energy!"

"Miles start out with bite!" Miles dashed at Beedrill was it was surrounded in a blue aura. He lunged at the bee pokemon and bit down on its leg. It gave a cry and started to fly around with Miles clamped to its leg.

"Twineedle!" The Beedrill stopped and jabbed at Miles with its stringers. Taking notice Miles released its bite and jumped back dodging the first one. The second stinger came right after, catching him by surprise and landed a hit on his shoulder. He growled and jumped back.

"Leer!" He looked up at the Beedrill making eye contact and it buzzed back. "Now charge!" Miles barked and gathered energy within his body.

"Fury attack!" Beedrill shook itself and flew forward and jabbed at Miles with its stingers. The attack landed and Miles was stabbed in his shoulder and on his side. He jumped out of the way, evading the third strike.

"Spark!" Bolts of electricity showered him and he tackled the Beedrill sending the jolt throughout its whole body. He jumped back and ran back to Kenneth and turned to face his opponent. Kenneth looked at the cub pokemon and smiled.

"Well, he's down. Do you wanna keep going?"

"Shinx!" Miles turned to look at him with a smile and then he started to glow white. Kenneth's eyes widen as he watched Miles grow bigger, his tail grew longer and his head seemed to changed shape. The light faded and Miles appeared. He looked almost the same, just a much taller version of a Shinx with a black mane around his face and an extra yellow ring on his front legs. Kenneth felt giddy after seeing one of his pokemon evolve for the first time.

"Lux…Luxio!" Bugsy recalled Beedrill and glanced over at Kenneth. He took out another pokeball and threw it into the air.

"Come on out Butterfree and start with confusion!" Miles turned his attention back to the battle as a Butterfree appeared and as soon as it did it Miles began to glow pink. He began to rise off the ground and shake violently. Butterfree finished the attack by slamming him back into the ground. He stood and wobbled from side to side and shook his head, trying to stand straight.

"Let's go with bite!" Miles jumped forward and fell. He jumped to his feet and then without warning bit into his own leg. Kenneth cursed under his breath. "Okay, let's go with a charge then!" The move was successful as Miles was able to pull energy into his body. He lowered himself to the ground and let out a low growl as he faced the Butterfree. He was still confused, but for the moment he seem t regain his senses.

"Now, spark!" Miles barked and lunged forward. He jumped at the Butterfree just as Bugsy gave it a command.

"Silver Wind!" Butterfree called out as its wings glowed. It flapped them forward releasing silver crescent energy caught in a powerful wind. The crescents crashed into Miles and blew him back. He landed on his back and rolled to a stop. He jumped back up and ran at Butterfree again and was hit with a powerful gust. He landed in front of Kenneth and let out a low growl.

"It's okay. Use charge one more time and rush at Butterfree again." Miles stood up and began to gather energy inside his body once more. Once he had enough he darted towards Butterfree who used silver wind once again.

"Now Miles circle around and use spark from the back." Miles slammed his feet into the ground and quickly changed his direction. He circled to Butterfree's left and once he saw an opening he lunged, electricity crackling from his body.

"Stun spore!" Butterfree flapped its wings back releasing an orange powdery mist that was familiar to Miles. However it was too late to dodge it was he was already in the air. He soared through the mist but still managed to tackle Butterfree and shock it in an unusual bright flash. 'Critical hit!' Both fell to the ground, Miles paralyzed and Butterfree knocked out. Both trainers recalled their pokemon with a smile.

"Lily it's all up to you once again!" Kenneth called out as he released the Poliwag. She gave a yawn and looked forward, waiting for her opponent to appear. Bugsy kept quiet as he released his last pokemon, a Kricketune. Kenneth looked at the funny shaped pokemon and pointed his pokedex at it.

Kricketune, the Cricket Pokemon. It crosses its knifelike arms in front of its chest when it cries. It can compose melodies ad lib.

"Hmmm, still that's a funny looking pokemon…"

"Sing!" Kenneth snapped his head up. Kricketune was singing or at least the noise it was making resembled singing. The boy called to Lily only to see her curled up on the floor fast asleep. He cursed his luck and only watched as Bugsy prepared to make his move.

"Bug Buzz!" Kricketune jumped forward and started to vibrate its wings. Kenneth watched confused at what was happening for Kricketune wasn't making a sound. He only understood what it was doing when Lily was knocked up from her position on the floor and landed hard on her back. She only groaned as she landed on her back and rolled over onto her stomach.

"X-scissor!" Kricketune ran towards Lily and crossed its scythes in an X formation. It slashed downward delivering a hard blow. It was strong enough to jolt Lily awake and she rolled back onto her feet.

"Hope you had a nice nap! Now it's time to pay them back with hypnosis." Lily hopped back and the spirals on her stomach released a light blue wave at Kricketune. It started to beat its wings and used the silent sound waves to knock away the hypnotic waves. It then ran forward at Lily again and crossed it scythes.

"Rain Dance!" Kenneth called trying to think of a plan. Lily took a big breath and shot a blast of water at the ceiling. It formed a ball in the midst of the Kakuna and started to form a cloud. The ball began to disappear as the cloud grew bigger and it started to rain. On the battle field Kenneth was still trying to think of a way to win. He could see that Lily was tried from the beating she took in her sleep and Kricketune had taken no damage, yet.

"Okay, water gun!"

"X-scissor!" Lily shot a blast of water at Kricketune. It slashed as the water, but thanks to the rain the attack was more powerful and overwhelmed the cricket pokemon.

"Now, body slam!" Lily ran forward and jumped high into the air. She came rocketing down on Kricketune just as it was getting to its feet. It collapsed face first in to the grass.

"Now wrap this up with one more water gun!" Lily shot her strongest water gun at the pokemon and sent it sliding across the ground and right in front of Bugsy.

"Kricketune!" He called out, but the bug pokemon didn't move. He recalled it with a sigh and the rain stopped. He looked at the pokeball before shoving it into his pocket. Without any words he strolled over to Kenneth and placed a badge into his hand. The badge resembled the back of a lady bug and Kenneth smiled as he looked up at Bugsy.

"And that's my fourth lost today," He mumbled lowering his hand. "But, it was fun all the same. You and those other trainers have some real potential. I'm sure you all will become some fine trainers and I can't wait to see you all battle at the Indigo League."

"Don't worry. We'll put on a great show for you!" Bugsy laughed and gave Kenneth a pat on the back. "That's good to hear, but you should be off now. It's starting to get a bit dark."

~~

After having his pokemon healed, Kenneth decided to rest in the lobby of the pokemon center. His pokemon were left in their balls to rest. He leaned his head back into the couch by the door and sighed. He finally had his second gym badge. 'Hey! I should tell my parents about this. They don't even know that I've gotten my first one!' He sat up straight and started to turn on the phone on his pokegear.

"…………"

He glanced at the door and bit his lips. There was something humming outside. Kenneth stood and left the Center to venture outside. He looked around, but saw nothing. He heard the whine again and it seemed to be coming from the outskirts of town. He turned and ran in its direction. It was still light out so he could see pretty well. The hum started to get louder and he picked up his pace.

Just ahead he could see a few of the other trainers standing in front of the Slowpoke Well. He recognized one of them to be Damion, but he didn't know the name of the other two.

"Hey!" They turned to look at him as he approached, but as quickly as they turned to him they turned back to face the well as the hum went off again…
