God knew how much time she had spend in the cursed forest. In the end Liliana had called Misdreavous back to her ball for she was definitely not helping the whole creepy dark forest atmosphere. It did seem like the forest was getting lighter with every step she took. Also every once in a while she saw a little green leaf. She had checker her cell multiple times to ask Elm if he was sure this was the way the forest was supposed to look, but no signal. The time had stopped acting funky but now it had just frozen. Really, this day could have been a lot better.
Then she noticed it. A particularly light area, there almost seemed to be a bit of sun leaking through. The fog had entirely cleared out of this area, it was as if this little thing was fighting it, whatever was happening to the forest. There were trees that bent over the area as if to shield it from the outside world. She had a strange Déjà Vu feeling as she looked at it and knew that she had to check it out. She sent out Nala.
"Okay, Nala and Abu I would like you two to break through these trees just enough so I could get through it, no more okay? And Abu, no fire punch unless you feel like putting out a forest fire!" Abu nodded grudgingly as he started to hit the branches to try and get through the thing. Nala was more help, she used her magical leaf attack to hit just the right spots to create a small opening. "Thanks you two," Liliana recalled them, something inside her told her that she had to go through this alone.
The first thing she saw was the wooden shrine she had seen in the vision. It seemed very out of place and the still dead forest. Just like she had seen it there were small signs of life all around it, plants clinging to a little bit of light. Then she saw Bugsy on the ground. She gasped and ran toward him, kneeling down beside his body. She put to fingers on his neck searching for a pulse. She found one, although it was weak, he was still alive. She let out a breath that she had been holding. Suddenly a voice behind her made her whirl around so fast that she almost gave herself a whiplash.
"They say this shrine was made for the time travelling Pokémon Celebi a long time ago." The voice was almost gentle. Almost. It was the black cloaked man. Of course it was. She was still kneeling beside Bugsy and put a hand on his arm as if he would disappear if she wouldn't pay attention. She did not like looking up at the man though, it made her feel vulnerable. Out of instinct she grabbed a ball, but he just laughed and held up his arms, palm toward her.
"I'm not here to fight you, Liliana, I have a proposition for you," he told her calmly.
"What kind of proposition?" She snapped at the man, but he didn't seem too bothered by it. He simply smiled in that very slick kind of way and continued explaining as if she hadn't said anything in the first place. "You and your fellow trainers have been getting stronger and stronger, and really, it's pointless to destroy you. You could be very useful and in return I could be very useful to you. You see, if you help me than I shall help you." He said this softly, almost kindly. But Lili wasn't fooled by this sudden kindness.
"As if you wouldn't try to kill me the moment I refuse," she spat, but he just laughed. But she did want to hear more. She hated it, but she did. "But, fine, I'll give you the satisfaction. Continue."He seemed satisfied by her decision to hear him out.
"That is if you refuse little sparrow," he didn't deny it and he didn't confirm it. He was disgustingly confident. "It is quite simple actually. Everyone wants something out of this life, something that might not come as easily as one would like. My desire was to be the best. I found so many ways to achieve this, but none but one was foolproof. This one I am talking about, it is the true way to achieve the goal I wanted." He sighed almost in nostalgia. She tried not to think of it, but a particular image floated around in her mind. The trainer and her Charizard. The impact her power had made, it made her impossible to ignore. This was no longer just about the power to protect people. She felt that she wanted more. She wanted to be so powerful no one could ignore her. She wanted to make a difference.
"Darkness," He winked at her. The bastard winked at her. She was stunned by his nerve. But he once again simply continued as if he had rehearsed the entire thing. Which he probably had. But she wasn't really in the position to argue. "Darkness.. It can give you great power. It can provide the one thing you have dreamed of all your life. " He stared at her with such intensity. As if he knew exactly what she wanted, as if he read her mind. He smiled again confidently before continuing. Aren't you tired of being told what to do? What is going on? You are but a tool to them! But I.. No I notice your potential. I see what you could be."
"An what does the almighty you see, then, sir?" Liliana asked skeptically. She knew it might not be the best timing to be rude, but she just couldn't stand his confidence. Maybe what she truly couldn't stand was the affect it was having. The fact that his confidence might be right. He didn't seem to mind her snapping, instead he continued in a softer tone.
"A member of my brotherhood… We are a group with a cause. We work on making this world a better place for everyone. We are doing something great for this world, only the world doesn't see this yet. With your help we can reach our goals and with my help you can have the one thing your heart desires most of all. .. And ultimate power." He looked at Bugsy and then at her, who was still kneeling beside him. "It could even save his life."
For the first time Liliana didn't know what to say. She didn't know what to snap at him, or to doubt his words. They had made an impact even though she had tried to push that away. Push away the fact that she wanted it. She wanted power. But she also didn't want the leader to die. He might have been a bit grumpy but he was a good man, what could he have done to deserve this?
"Do you promise not to harm him?" She finally croaked out looking up at the cloaked man. He smiled at her almost in a maternal kind of way. "You have my promised," he said softly before extending his hand for her to take.
They were doing something good for this world, that was what he said wasn't it? In the end whatever she would do for him would be in the right interest of the people. She told herself that as she rose to her feet. She still had to look up at him though. She put her hand in his and he smiled at her with a satisfied look. As if he were proud of her decision. "You have made the right choice, Liliana." Suddenly darkness was everywhere. It came up from the sides of her vision and slowly crept over her until her world went black.
And she prayed to dear god that she had made the right choice.
A small green leaf fell defeated from its tree. The small leaf floated in the sky and gently swayed back and forth as it dropped to the ground, finally landing on a green-haired man. The sleeping man lay there, alone, in front of the Shrine. There was a bright light coming from the shrine and a small green almost elfish Pokémon appeared. It seemed saddened at the sights of its forest. Then it lay eyes on the stranger.
His eyes shot open. He shot up, disoriented. The eyes widened as he saw the damage that had been done to the forest. They widened more when he set eyes on the elfish Pokémon that was watching him with saddened eyes. He smiled at the Pokémon and the creature seemed to smile back.
The man's expression changed into fear when he saw a shadow come to life behind the creature. Then it changed again into anger at the sight of what appeared to be a stun gun in the black cloaked man's hand. "Celebi look out!" The scream came out very hoarse. The creature called Celebi turned around to face the smirk of the black man. Celebi tries to leave but the man was faster. The gun sent out a beam of electricity that meets its goal and the elfish Pokémon fell to the ground.
The smile widened with delight after he saw that his plan had succeeded. "Finally after all those years… I knew that using those trainers as pawns would attract the true item I desired… YOU!" His face almost reddened with psychotic delight as he screeched at the unconscious Celebi. "Now we can put the full plan into action, bring the darkness back to this world!"
The green haired man stayed as still as he could, the fear on his face was visible. But the man turned to him and smiled again. "Oh, I forgot about you, my bad. We can't really let you og off running and telling everybody about this now could we?" The green haired man jumped off as quickly as he could while he only just woke up and grabbed to Poké Ball from his belt. "Don't you touch Celebi!" He yelled angrily as he released a Butterfree and a Beedrill.
The other man did not seem to mind the slightest, he actually seemed to enjoy this chance to show off. He released his Venusaur and Charizard. "Have it your way." The battle raged on, but in the end the bug Pokémon were overpowered and defeated.
"Well that was pretty fun I must say," the cloaked man smiled again. "It's been awhile since I've had a real battle now where's my gym badge? FOOL YOU WILL DIE JUST AS FALKNER AND SOON EVERY GYM LEADER IN JOHTO!!" This time the man's face had turned red as he screeched in psychotic rage at the gym leader. The green haired man's eyes held fear again, but not for himself. He feared the fate of Johto in the hands of this man that was obviously not in his right mind.
The cloaked man tossed a purple ball at Celebi, it didn't even wiggle just captured the Pokémon with ease. A Master Ball. He released a Weavile also, ordering him to kill her man. He walked away nonchalantly leaved the other man to die. A single tear made its way over Bugsy's cheek. It was the end of the road for him.
Then she noticed it. A particularly light area, there almost seemed to be a bit of sun leaking through.
