[Challenge] The Lampent Challenge - don't get too attached!

AlmightBreloom's Pokemon Y Lampent Challenge!
AlmightBreloom
Pokemon Y
Normal Mode
Adding in Set Mode, no items in battle, no Mega Evolutions as well as if I ever white out I lose the run.
So I began this challenge with an OC named Fernie, and I started off my journey by picking Fennekin for the first gym. However, after looking at the extensive options for the first gym that are unavailable later in the game, I am thinking I made the wrong choice and should have picked Chespin so that Serena would have Delphox due to having pretty consistent access to water types. If I fail this run, perhaps I will make that adjustment. I ended up catching a level 5 Pikachu (which took around 90 minutes to find) and a level 5 Fletchling on Route 3 for Viola alongside my Fennekin to spread the experience around a little bit. I ended up defeating Viola with some ease thanks to a turn 1 paralysis on Vivillon using tackle on Pikachu.
The team post Viola:
Pikito the Pikachu Lvl 11 Lvl Cap of 15
Fletchito the Fletchling Lvl 10 Lvl Cap of 15
Fenito the Fennekin Lvl 13 Lvl Cap of 15

UPDATE 1

Time for spooky season! In February. I like this challenge, because it requires a little bit different approach to Pokémon games than I usually have.

I started the game and had a hard choice of starter. My initial plan was to use the Nuzlocke rule based on the last number of Trainer ID, but I got 0, which means free choice. After some consideration, I picked Tepig as my starter.

When I was playing, we were watching Finding Nemo on TV with my wife and son, so I went with Pixar characters as my nicknaming theme. Thus, Nemo the Tepig joined the team.

I quickly got past the tutorial section and got to Floccesy Ranch. I initially wanted to get Riolu, but couldn't find one on level 7, so I got Dory the Lillipup on level 7 and Merida the Psyduck on level 5, just to have something on team in case Nemo hits the level cap.

And with that, I challenged Cheren. I beat his Patrat with Dory using few Tackles. Cheren's Lillipup finished Dory off unfortunately and barely beat it with Nemo.

UPDATE 2

Okay, I post my yesterday update on mobile and only now saw it on PC. Why the hell is that screenshot so huge? Sorry, I'll make sure the rest of screenshots are smaller.

I quickly got past Route 20, beating most trainers there with Merida, because I felt bad for not using her in the Gym.

I looked at my options for Virbank Gym and caught McQueen the Magnemite on level 11 and Mike the Growlithe on level 12 in Virbank Complex. And while I still haven't hit the level cap on my previous Pokémon, I opted out of using them in Virbank Gym.

I used Mike to beat one band member and used McQueen to beat the other. Funnily enough, I used Mike to beat the one with only pure Poison-types and used McQueen to beat the one with Venipede. Optimal gameplay. Like always.

The battle with Roxie was easy. I started with McQueen to finally utilize its immunity to poison. When I got to Whirlipede, I used Supersonic and Thunder Wave to make things easier for Mike and switched up. Whirlipede had no chance.

I continued on and got to Castelia City. I went around the city and picked up some items - Charcoal, Mystic Water, Twisted Spoon, Leftovers... and I probably forgot on something. I caught Woody the Zubat on level 16 and Buzz the Grimer on level 17, because McQueen and Mike almost reached their level cap.

And turns out I didn't even need them that much. Mike beat the first Swadloon with one Flame Wheel. McQueen beat Burgh's Dwebble, which made it hit level 21. Which means I had to switch it out on Leavanny. I switched to Buzz, but he only managed to use Disable once, before getting knock out. And so I went back to Mike and finish the job.

I'll need to level up and get some new Pokémon for the next segment. Luckily, there are some nice new areas opened now.

UPDATE 3

Okay, this will be a short update.

Unfortunately, Mike hit his level cap while beating Colress. Luckily, he went out with a bang and showed Colress what we are made of.

I got some new Pokémon on my way to Nimbasa City. I caught Mei the Darumaka on level 18 and Joy the Sandile on level 19.

When I got to Nimbasa, I got Soothe Bell for Woody, but I don't think he will evolve to Crobat before hitting his level cap.

I then went to the Gym and quickly found out I'm way too underleveled. Elesa's Emolga and Zebstrika were formidable opponents. I lost the first time, so I had to go to the Stadium and grind a little bit. Elesa was still a pain to beat. I had to use a lot of healing and reviving to slowly chip away both Emolga and Zebstrika. Elesa's Flaaffy was a pushover, on the other hand. And at the end of the battle, Joy hit her level cap (and evolved).

UPDATE 4

A lot happened on my way to Clay. I was running in and out Nimbasa City like crazy, because Buzz, Woody and eventually even Mei hit their level caps.

I had to get some new Pokémon. I caught Ember the Trubbish on level 23 just to have someone in case I hit the cap on everyone. I barely used her, since most Pokémon I faced were effective against Poison-types. I also caught Ellie the Ducklett on level 23. My plan was to use it to beat Clay, but...

Unevolved Ellie was both slower and weaker than even the weakest Baltoy in Clay's Gym. I somehow got to Clay and got my ass handed by him. I could barely beat Krookodile. So I ventured on the next Route and caught Sally the Deerling on level 28. I leveveled it up until it learnt Energy Ball and evolved into Sawsbuck. And even that was only just enough to beat Clay's Excadrill.

Phew, this segment was hard. Luckily, I think I can get some nice new Pokémon for my favourite Unova Gym Leader - Skyla. Emolga and Litwick could come handy this time.

UPDATE 5

I got to PWC and easily beat Hugh, Cheren and Colress. Lucky this meant no level ups, since I was slowly getting close to my level caps.

At first, I wanted to catch Emolga and Litwick before Skyla. But I couldn't find Emolga, so I caught Joltik (nicknamed Hellen) on level 27. And I thought it would be enough for Skyla, so I decided to catch Litwick later.

Getting to Skyla was a pain, because I kept Hellen underleveled a little bit. And as Joltik, Hellen didn't hit hard enough, so I had to backtrack and heal after each trainer. Hellen evolved just before facing Skyla. Which meant I had at least a small chance against her with this team. Skyla's Swoobat was faster than Hellen and brought her down to half HP, before Hellen caught her in Electroweb. Skyla's Swanna had no chance. But her Skarmory hit Hellen quite hard and I think I won the battle only thanks to Electroweb's Speed debuff.

UPDATE: I noticed I forgot to update my team, but sadly I don't think I have a savefile right after Skyla.

UPDATE 6

Okay, this was a long segment. Right at the start, I had to get new Pokémon, because every single one of my Pokémon were getting way too close to their respective level caps. My first plan was to catch Watchog, but my literally first encounter was Zangoose, so I caught that one instead. Level 32, nicknamed Andy. I wanted to get Litwick too, but the ones in the tower were quite weak, so i continued with the story instead.

I got to Reversal Mountain and caught 22 the Drifblim on level 36, Jack-Jack the Skorupi on level 35 and Violet the Skarmory on level 36. But the journey to Opelucid City is long and Andy hit his level cap on Village Bridge, so I also caught VALL-I the Lunatone on level 36 on Route 16.

I got to Opelucid City, ready for the Gym battle. Severely underleveled and unprepared. Getting to Drayden was hard. I felt bad for my team. But we made it! I started the Gym battle with Jack-Jack and set up Toxic Spikes. I also managed to poison Druddigon using Poison Fangs. Jack-Jack got forced to switch because of Druddigon's Dragon Tail, but it brought out Violet, which I used to set up Spikes and Metal Sound. While I was at it, Druddigon fainted and Drayden sent out Flygon. Luckily, Violet hit hard using Steel Wing after one round of Metal Sound and beat Flygon easily. And I think she could probably also beat Drayden's Haxorus, but she got sent away by his Dragon Tail. Jack-Jack returned and finished off the battle.
