Film The Last Jedi [SPOILERS AHEAD!]

Are you planning to see the movie? What did you think of it?

Spoiler:

First impression: Best Star Wars movie outside of the original trilogy. Gonna wait and let it sink in before I feel if it's better than any of the originals (which I think is possible).

Best things: Killing off Snoke, fakeout redemption, Luke tossing away his lightsaber, Luke's sunset moment at the end

Worst things: I can't really point to anything I didn't like, except perhaps Leia's Superman moment, which took me out of the movie.

I LOVED IT WAAAAAAAAAAGAHAHGAJAJSJAJDJD saw it last night and jesus I was at the edge of my seat all the time and cried 40% of the time at least (i enjoy crying at cool or beautiful moments in movies) and I genuinely believe this could be my favorite Star Wars movie so far. Ep7 was good in many ways, but Ep8 was just amazing. Sure, it had its cheesy weird moments and after a rewatch maybe I'll have more rational thoughts haha, but right now I'm perplexed by yayness c:

I honestly waited and waited for the moment where Leia would die, and I thought the spaceship blowing up would be it but NOPE THE FORCE SAVES I actually felt like that was one of the coolest moments in the movie, and it did make sense.

I'm a bit disappointed in Kylo Ren turning out to be the biggest baddest bad guy in the end, as it seemed like we could get an emotional redemption from him when he couldn't kill Leia and joined forces with Rey. But when he turned again, I was kind of hoping that Rey would give up hope and turn too - wouldn't that have been a cool cliffhanger for Ep9? Get Rey back to the good side! Kind of like with Bastila in KotOR, great twist tbh.

Also do you think Kylo spoke truth when he revealed that Rey's parents were nobodies? Everybody had such grand theories on who her parents were, and I personally wondered if maybe she was Kylo's cousin, Luke's daughter. But apparently greatness can come from small beginnings. Hurhuehurrr.

Top scene imo was Rey and Kylo teaming up and lightsabering the shit out of the guards. Redeem Kylo in S9 pls pls

I saw it yesterday and I honestly thought it was better than The Force Awakens. Don't get me wrong, I liked The Force Awakens, but it seemed so predictable. I just wonder how they'll do Episode 9 without Carrie Fisher.

Yea, considering they didn't kill her off when they had the perfect chance to in this movie, and they still likely want a very emotional death for her in ep9, I wonder how they are going to pull something like that off. They'll have to animate her, of course.

With how they're marketing it to be more like a series finale rather than the second episode of the trilogy, I'm pretty excited to go see The Last Jedi, to be honest. We've got family coming over this coming Sunday for Christmas and we might go and see it that evening.

Went to the Steeler game on Sunday, after that disappointing disaster it was nice to see a really good movie. Without spoiling, there were a few moments that were callbacks to Empire and Jedi, but overall it felt like it's own movie which I was hoping for.

I had one big disappointment... but I don't know how to hid stuff for spoilers so I won't say it haha

i watched it last week, and it was amazing. i stayed for the credits and teared up at the 'in memory of our princess carrie fisher' part. i'm not sure if i preferred it over the force awakens, though.

i just really want to know what's going to happen with leia next episode. i think they were planning on making the next episode more about leia (like how this was more luke, and tfa was more han i think??), so i'm not sure how that's gonna happen now. i feel like they'll need to give her a dramatic, sad death, but they might want to kill her off quickly(ish) due to the animation. idk how they'll do anything without leia.

also, what are your thoughts on holdo? i hated her at first (though that's partly because i have a soft spot for poe), but i've grown to love her.

I like that she's made to look like an obstacle because Poe sees her that way, but she's actually got a plan and is doing the right thing while Poe is being rash and taking big risks he shouldn't. It's good film making to trick us a little like that. Suits the overall theme.

As a character, she's not bad. Much more likable on the second viewing.

I liked that it didn't take us where we thought. If you watch it with an open mind, you will enjoy it. The space battles were like nothing we've seen in SW before. That part after holdo pilots the carrier into the Imperial capital ship where there was a 10 second block of silence was so dramatic. And some people actually thought there was a fault in the movie and asked why no sound?
It was modern and edgy, had enough old-school Star Wars without being fan-service, not predictable like Force Awakens, yes the were unanswered questions but its the middle of a trilogy.

Yes, I believed it. Makes sense to me too as I thought the majority of Jedi actually came from nowhere/etc, and that Luke and all were more the exception than the rule.
