I like the Final Fantasy Series better but they are both great games.

I don't see why you'd pick those two series. I mean, Zelda is a platformer/action series, while Final Fantasy is a relatively traditional JRPG series. I wouldn't normally compare the two, as their genres are different enough that a lot of the things people will like about one of them more than the other are just traits of the genre.

That said, I prefer Final Fantasy because the atmosphere is (generally) better, the characters are (generally) more endearing, and it isn't as shamelessly derivative as LoZ. I mean, LoZ is basically the same game getting released over and over again, while there's very little in common between say FFVII and FFXII.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time!

I prefer Zelda a lot more, since I am a Nintendo fan.

Does FF have the somewhat awesome guy called Linebeck? No? 'Nuff said

I like the legend of zelda alot more than the new FFs because more Zeldas are released for handhelds, so I am voting LoZ, but gameplay and graphics-wise, new FFs rocks a gamers world. LoZ is essentially a puzzle-action game, and Final Fantasy a action-puzzle game. What do I mean that LoZ's gameplay is not necessarily about the combat, it is about solving quite clever puzzles and such, is great and timeless.

Final Fantasy is a bit more difficult to decipher, because it is essentially a puzzle-game, but since we of course hardly need to think for what we need to use and/or do on the battles, we can define that as action, except on the boss battles, just like LoZ, I've noticed.

A poll? We all know that is a guise for the respective fanboys of both franchises, to battle it out in a war of subjectivity versus subjectivity.

Zelda. I always preferred Tales to FF anyway.

They're two completely different game series and not one has a spin-off or other version in the same genre as the other.

Final Fantasy games are RPGs with some Strategy ones.

LoZ is Adventure, full stop.

That said, for me it's:

Final Fantasy spin-offs > LoZ > Final Fantasy main games

Mostly 'cos the spin-offs have quite a few Strategy games in them, which I love. The main ones have nothing but grinding games, which I hate. Legend of Zelda sits nicely in the middle.

Final Fantasy is much better. I can't stand Zelda. Every game is the exact same thing. There's usually some sort of magical musical instrument whose ungodly powers you harness to do random tasks. On top of that, I get sick of fighting what is virtually the same boss, reincarnated with newer graphics every game. They're all so similar. I like having games (such as Final Fantasy) with different story lines. I like story driven games for the most part, and like something a little more complex than "Zelda's in trouble. Save her. Again." I also like to have some sort of connection to a character. You can't really relate to Link when he doesn't speak, and has no back story or emotion (other than fear of bosses and love for Zelda) whatsoever. And that is why I believe Final Fantasy is better.

Final Fantasy, the graphics are amazing, combat is pretty awesome, and its really engaging for me.

I grew up on Zelda, but im not a big fan of puzzles and dungeons that much..
