Plot: The day comes for every trainer where the novice gets to pick up their starter and journey across continents. Most trainers embark on their journey alone and pick up friends as they travel. However, some trainers are invited to partake in a special development program. These few trainers travel together, however, they do not always travel alone. Various times throughout their adventure, mentors will come and help with their development as a trainer. These mentors are quite convenient, and helpful, but they also like to teach by experience. These teachers, for the most part, leave the group of trainers, to allow them to learn by themselves. However, the tricks they share often give the Lyra Program students an edge in battle. The Lyra Program was founded to help mold novice trainers into a beautiful creation. By pointing the new trainers in the right direction the success of these trainers is multiplied. The Lyra Program's mission is to create some of the strongest trainers in the continents. Trainers start their journey at the age of fifteen. The Lyra Program begins in the region of Kanto, and continues through others. Trainers catch, battle, and earn badges as they travel. Being mentored by some of the regions best trainers as they complete their own journey, they learn and find success.
Trainers start their journey in Kanto, however, they choose a starter from where their character is from. This has a somewhat open plot which allows for every member of the roleplay to help create an interesting story. Plot twisters will be entered, such as tournaments, and other challenging obstacles characters will have to face. The trainers in The Lyra Program are also ranked for accomplishments. Such as winning battles against each other or catching pokemon.
Plot Summary: Like many pokemon journeys trainers band together to succeed, it is the same here. The Lyra Program trainers travel together, battle gyms, and do what almost all trainers do. However, they are provided with teachers along their journey to promote success. They enter tournaments, earn badges, and in all just interact with each other. All this is done while also competing against each other. A ranking system is used to rank the accomplishments of each trainer.
Rules:
1) No Godmoding or Bunnying. (Do not be the all powerful trainer that just creams ever trainer in their site. Try not to take control of anyone's character, and never take full control of another user's character.)
2) Be active, stay active. (Obviously life happens, so exceptions are welcome, but try to post often.)
3) This is going to be a quality roleplay. I want a good paragraph at the least per post. Quality, long post is a lot better then a bunch of little posts. A few paragraph posts are highly welcome. Your first post should also be pretty lengthy.
4) Keep your characters realistic. Develop your characters, do not make them act the same the whole roleplay. Events help shape a character's personality.
5) Be creative with your posts, have fun with this.
6) Don't always be the center of attention. I love when people take the roleplay in their own hands, but don't be constantly making the roleplay about you and your character. Remember their are other people writing this story.
7) No legendaries.
8) Swearing and romance are okay, just don't go overboard.
9) Any pokemon can be caught on any continent. Just make it realistic. Do not find an ice pokemon in a desert.
Ranking System: Yes, in this roleplay your trainers are competing in a ranking system. How it works. (I am keeping it fairly simple.) This ranking system is for fun, do not go all crazy about it and competitive. It is to add something unique.
Gym Victory: 10 Points
Pokemon Caught: 5 Points for each one. (Only catch ones you will use.)
Battle Won against another RP Member: 5 Points
Character Entry: (Sign Ups. Anything left out of this application will result into the postponement of the entry until the character is complete.)
Name: Your character's full name and if they have a nickname add it in here.
Gender: Male or Female
Age: They must be 15-16. I know pokemon normally starts at age 10 but just a bit unrealistic, and older characters have a little more depth.
Appearance: What your character looks like, physical features, and clothes they like to wear.
Personality: How your character acts and reacts. What they like to do for fun and basically what makes your character special.
History: Write about what your character has done before the start of the roleplay. This also tells us where your character grew up and lives. This matters for the next part.
Starter: Your character has no pokemon yet and he starts off with one of the starters from where he grew up from. So if your character grew up in Kanto, you can either start off with Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtile.
Sample Post: This can either be written right now about a story about your character, or a post form a different roleplay. Please no links. Post a quality post here. If it is really long then just post some of it.
Any questions about the roleplay post at the start or end of your registration.
Mentors:
Jason Paran: He is Kanto's hero. Only in his late twenties, he has defeated all three of the Kanto, Johto, and Hoen leagues. Despite his chase for the Sinnoh League and his recent marriage, he has cleared his plate partially for the Lyra Program. His third year of mentoring, his youth and fresh mind bring something new to Lyra. Jason is known for his cliché, but high-powered Charizard. He believes the less attacks you use to down the opponent the better, and Jason goes for all out power. He is a very talkative guy who gives off a prideful aura. He is currently the most famous trainer on the tour, and also a very valuable asset to the Lyra team.
Pokemon: Charizard, Nidoking, Gayrados, Umbreon, Dewgong, Vileplume
Sujima Nakamora: This mentor has claimed every badge there is to claim and all the league championships. Often looked at as the top trainer of his generation, Sujima (Or Narkamora) is most known for his partnership with Scizor. Johto born Nakamora comes from a family with traditional values. His face shows something of Asian descent. He stands only five feet six inches, however has a very broad body. He often pulls out his tuxedo and loves to be dressy. It has been said that Nakamora has never been seen unnerved. Nakamora, in his fourties, has ceased his intense training to settle down with a family and help develop trainers through the Lyra Program.
Pokemon: Scizor, Feraligatr, Jolteon, Jumpluff, Tyranitar, Aggron
Raj Mar': Raj's dark skin and wrinkles reveal both his ethnicity and his age. His darker skin and his voice both appear and sound Indian. (Of India.) He is a tactition at heart, and is mostly known for his strategies. Now into his mid seventies, Raj mostly appears at pokemon battles as an honored guest. His battle strategies brought him world recognition, and he is currently the oldest person alive with all league titles and badges. His dress is always that of formal attire from his heritage. Born in Hoen, he grew up just outside Slateport City. Growing up around the sea Raj fell in love with all aquatic pokemon. His trump pokemon, Milotic, has made famous my Raj's defensive strategies. Raj talks very little, but when he speaks it has a certain rhythm and beauty to it. This may be just the wisest trainer in the world, and is the only living founder of the Lyra Program.
Pokemon: Milotic, Sceptile, Slowking, Slaking, Gliscor, Arbok
Maria Maranette: Her tan skin comes from no beach, and her tolerance to cold informs everyone exactly where she is from. Snowpoint City, a large, snowy city that resides just north of the famous Mount Cornet. Snowpoint City, mostly known for its production of talented skiers struck gold in the fields of pokemon battling with Maria. Arguablly one of the best trainers ever to come out of Sinnoh, she sits atop the Sinnoh elite four as champion. Her dark brunette hair runs just above her shoulders, and she often chooses to wear a short-sleeve shirt and a skirt or shorts. The pride of Snowpoint also has a swagger to step, she is quite confident. Maria, like all women, talks a lot. She speaks a lot of both gossip and wisdom. She is most famous for her offense style party, and her fast and vile Weavile.
Pokemon: Imfernape, Alakazam, Bronzong, Weavile, Salamence, Machamp
I believe this will be a very fun roleplay and join if you are looking for a journey roleplay with a twist.
