Selene peered over at Jake from the corner of her eye again. He was sulking. Apparently he wanted a moon stone for his Nidorino. Selene herself had come in second place and gotten a fire stone, so she figured that might be one of the reasons he kept stealing glances at her when he thought she wasn't looking. Once when Selene had tried to start a conversation several moments ago, Jake had just simply shrugged and replied briefly. It was like that stupid route again. Selene was inwardly shouting and mentally smacking him. What was with it with this guy anyway? One minute he was hilarious and the next he was all broody. It was just crazy.

Once their Pokemon had been healed, Jake had declared that he was going to go take a nap while Selene got her gym badge. Selene eyed him silently. Now he wasn't acting broody, he was just acting weird. When he turned away, Selene could've sworn she saw a rock with something that was equivalent to a moon carved into the side, but that was crazy. It's not like Jake would steal anything anyway. Selene shook her head at her own paranoia and then turned to exit the Pokemon Center. She had just one more stop to make (for she had seen something rather interesting on the bulletin board) before she hit the gym.

Selene travelled to an apartment building. It looked rather expensive and refined, especially for the time period. Selene looked up and then glanced at the piece of paper containing the address in her hand, and then walked inside. In the lobby was a woman sitting and reading a book. Selene frowned slightly, glanced around, and then walked over to her.

"Excuse me," she said awkwardly. She didn't really like to talk much to people she didn't know, especially when it came to asking directions. "Can you tell me where I can find apartment number 201?"

The woman closed her book and looked at Selene with a smile. "I can, but no one's there."

Selene faltered. "Oh..." she said. "Er...I should..."

"No, no, silly," the woman giggled. "It's my apartment. I'm going to guess you're here to show me a Pokemon, right?"

"Yup. I have a rock type with me right now," Selene stated. She felt a bit more confident about the entire situation. She then quickly grabbed Denahi's Pokeball and pressed the button. The woman watched hopefully as, in a flash of white light, Denahi popped out. He glanced around, but seeing no one was around to battle, he relaxed and yawned. Scary.

"Oh! It's so amazing! Thank you so much!" the woman squealed happily. She fumbled about with a large bag (or was it a purse?) and pulled out her clenched fist. Selene's eyebrow rose. "Here's your reward. Thanks again for letting me see your beautiful Cranidos. Such a blue skull he has," she gushed for a second. Then she handed Selene the stone. It was a bit heavy, and there was a cord attached to it. Selene crouched down next to Denahi and slipped the necklace around his neck. She was pretty sure that it would come in handy someday, even if Selene didn't use Denahi in the gym battle.

"Thanks," Selene said with a smile. She then departed, Denahi following at her heels.

The gym. Selene remembered the gym leader, Roseanna, from the contest winner announcement. The woman apparently came from Floaroma Town, but had struck up quite a reputation in Eterna that had earned her the proper title of gym leader. Selene glanced at the little scribbles Sahib had written out for her just before she had left the Pokemon Center. It was a good thing she could still get her internet and was able to find a printer. Selene let out a breath and looked up at the large doors. Then she pushed them open, and was almost immediately hit with a heavy waft of flowers. It was absolutely covered in them, the gym. Selene wrinkled her nose. She didn't like flowers very much. In fact, she would have taken chocolate to flowers. Why couldn't there be a chocolate gym leader?

"Hello there," a warm voice came from the opposite side.

Selene looked up from the flowers and to the woman standing in the box. Apparently Roseanna was ready for a challenger. "Uhm...hi?" Selene offered, not really sure what to say. She was generally a shy person, so talking to people wasn't a big thing for her. At least, certain people. Someone who was older than her age group counted. So no, Selene wasn't exactly comfortable with the idle chat as she stepped up to her box in the ring.

"You've come to battle me, I presume?"

"Yeah."

"Rafael," Roseanna said to a burly man who had just walked up. "Do me a favor and be the judge."

"Of course," he stated and walked to the center of the ring. "Are we ready?" They both nodded. Selene was very glad the small talk was over. "Both battlers take out your Pokemon!" the man shouted. They did. A sunflower appeared opposite of Selene's newly caught Gastly. Selene idly thought about giving the Gastly a nickname, before the man went on. "Let the battle between gym leader Roseanna and the challenger now begin!" he called. It was on.

"Gastly start off with hypnosis!" Selene called. She knew that if Gastly didn't open and get that flower thing down for the count, then it would surely smack Gastly down with little problem. Selene quickly slipped out her Pokedex and double checked as Gastly unleashed the attack. Yup. Sunflora, as it was apparently called, was much stronger than Gastly. If Gastly didn't finish it quick, then Sunflora would probably end this match before it started.

Gastly's magical-eye-ray-sleep-thingies had worked. Sunflora was dozing away, and while Roseanna was frowning slightly and thinking, Selene had a plan. Really only a curse and lick combo would do anything. Selene figured she'd throw in an occasional spite whenever it was necessary, but for now she wanted to focus on attacking. So she had Gastly use curse. The Pokemon suddenly winced, but then opened her eyes and Sunflora shuddered violently. Selene smirked, and then called for Gastly to use lick. The ghost Pokemon vanished and reappeared, smirking a bit as she dragged her freakishly long tongue along the back of Sunflora's head. The Pokemon twitched, but didn't wake. Selene smirked. Things were going good so far.

"You haven't won just yet, so I would advise you wipe that smirk off of your face," Roseanna said evenly. She went back to furrowing her brow. Selene frowned. Sure, it was true. Not that she had to like the fact though.

"Gastly, just keep up with your lick attacks. With any luck, Sunflora will faint because of that and curse before it has a chance to wake up," Selene said to her Pokemon.

Gastly floated about, occasionally swooping in to lick Sunflora. Truthfully the Pokemon looked to be rather happy about the fact that Sunflora was sleeping and she got to play instead of focus hard on the battle. Selene scratched the side of her head. Roseanna watched silently. Selene glanced at the gym leader, and she was fairly sure that when Sunflora woke up Gastly was going to get her assed beat. Selene licked her lips as Sunflora twitched and shuddered violently again; one of the aftermaths of the curse attack.

"Sunflora, use mega drain," Roseanna said, her voice ringing out across the large stadium calmly. Selene's jaw dropped and her eyes went really wide. Sunflora suddenly stood up, which caused Selene to sputter. Gastly suddenly floated away, obviously figuring that this was NOT going to be a very good situation to be in. How the heck had that overgrown flower gotten up?! "It was about time," Roseanna explained.

That's when Sunflora launched into attack mode. It suddenly did something with its petals, and then little green orbs latched onto Gastly. Gastly struggled, but the orbs wouldn't let her disappear away. Suddenly they began to glow green, and Gastly began to float to the floor. Selene pointed her Pokedex at her Pokemon and saw that when the reading was taken Gastly's health was only a little more than half. Suddenly the orbs floated back to Sunflora, latching back onto it and causing the partially wilted sunflower to perk up a bit. Roseanna smiled warmly at her Pokemon, and then glanced at Gastly.

"Let's finish this quick, shall we? Use grasswhistle!"

Selene's face slipped. She had expected Sunflora to go into an attack that Gastly could easily dodge, not use grasswhistle! A sweet, yet horrible sound was played. Gastly's eyes began to droop, and then she drifted to the stadium floor. She was out like a light. Roseanna then ordered for another mega drain. The flower winced as curse took away more health, but then repeated the steps with the orbs. In a matter of moments, it was apparent that Gastly was no longer asleep. She was down and out for the count. Selene licked her parched lips. She was now officially the under-under-UNDERdog.

"Gastly is unable to battle! Sunflora is the winner!" Rafael called, waving a flag in Roseanna's direction. Selene recalled Gastly, and then grabbed Kenai's Pokeball. He would be sure to fry this flower with no problems.

Selene brought out Kenai, and she was pretty sure she saw Roseanna's face fall slightly. It was obvious that while she might have been prepared for a fire type, she was displeased to see one.

"Alright Kenai start with ember!" Selene called. It was so perfect, she was inwardly squealing. Growlithe was in top condition, and he was close enough in level to Sunflora that Selene had a feeling an ember would finish it off. And in the case that ember didn't happen to finish it off, she was sure curse would.

Kenai opened his jaws and unleashed the attack. Sunflora squealed and attempted to dodge at Roseanna's command, but Kenai would have none of that. He got Sunflora directly. The Pokemon called out in pain as it was engulfed in the flames, and Sunflora was left barely standing when they vanished. Kenai snarled, crouching slightly in case of an attack. Selene watched and waited. Roseanna ordered a grasswhistle. Selene bit her lips, and just when she had given up hope it happened. Sunflora shuddered violently and went down. Curse had taken affect, and now it was all over. Selene let out a breath. Kenai had managed not to get harmed, so it was almost like he was in perfect condition in preparation for the next battle.

"Sunflora is unable to battle, Growlithe is the winner!" Rafael declared, holding up the flag in Selene's direction. She ignored him and focused on forming strategies for the battle.

"I have to admit, I was hoping you wouldn't bring a fire type into play. No matter, my next Pokemon won't go down without a lot of effort on your part. Bellossom!" she called, throwing the ball.

Selene stared. She couldn't help it. The Bellossom was PURPLE! They weren't normally purple, were they? Were they?! "HOLY CRAP!" Selene shouted, pointing. Roseanna giggled at Selene's reaction. "IT'S FREAKIN' PURPLE!" Roseanna laughed a bit harder this time. Selene frowned. She really didn't know if Bellossom were purple or not, but she was pretty sure they weren't.

"It's shiny," Roseanna explained once she was through her laughter. "That's why Bellossom is purple. Now, can we carry on with our battle?" Roseanna stilled looked amused though.

"Er...yeah," Selene said, rubbing the back of her head and suddenly not able to believe she had just had that kind of outburst. She swore, it was all genetics and her mother's fault.

"Bellossom start with acid," Roseanna called.

"Kenai dodge and use ember!" Selene said in reply to the acid.

Kenai couldn't get poisoned, he just couldn't. Selene basically couldn't afford for him to, because otherwise she was utterly screwed. Denahi was not going to be able to take Bellossom, unless one hit would knock it out. Even then, Denahi just might not be fast enough. Selene didn't want to take that chance, so she was going to have Kenai keep up some hot fire attacks.

Kenai rolled away from the acid, and a purply nasty goo was left where Kenai was standing. Selene made a face, and then glanced back at the battle. Kenai had unleashed an ember, but Bellossom had somehow managed to dance to the side. Selene suddenly frowned. She knew her Growlithe was much quicker than that. That was when she smelled it. The aroma was sweeter than the flowers. Selene groaned and held out her Pokedex. After a moment's reading, it was apparent; Bellossom was using sweet scent. Kenai's nose was twitching, and he was shaking his head rapidly. He didn't seem to like the scent too well. That was why his attack had missed, and that was why Bellossom looked very pleased with herself. Roseanna looked pretty pleased as well.

"Good job Bellossom. Now use poison powder!"

"Dodge!" Selene called desperately, knowing that it would most likely be futile.

Kenai ran away, but the cloud soon spread throughout the gym. Selene found her jaw locked as she watched Kenai inhale the poison. This would almost assuredly be a quick battle if Kenai couldn't land an ember attack as soon as he could. Kenai suddenly started to sputter, and then he whined harshly. Selene knew that it would eat away at his health.

"Kenai use ember!" Selene shouted across the field. Kenai glanced at her and then whipped around. Instead of just launching the attack from where he was like Selene had expected him to, Kenai charged towards Bellossom.

"Watch out." It was all Roseanna said to her Pokemon.

Kenai snarled and suddenly fire burst from his jaws. It was too fast for Bellossom to dodge this time. The flames engulfed the pretty Pokemon, and within seconds it was screaming. Selene watched and waited. Kenai whined again, and did that terrible shudder thing. Selene glanced at her Pokemon and then back to Bellossom. It looked wounded, but Selene could tell that the attack hadn't done quite what she had hoped for. Selene suddenly had a sickening feeling it would come down to her and Denahi, but she was going to deny that until it happened. Something probably not very smart, but true.

"Hang tough Kenai," Selene pleaded with her Pokemon. Kenai barked shortly. Selene took that as a moderately good sign. "Alright, now attack with bite and follow with another ember!" It was her best strategy, and basically the only one she could work with.

Roseanna didn't tell Bellossom to dodge, and Selene immediately sniffed danger. Kenai charged in, though his charge was more of a hobbling run, and aimed for what looked to be like a powerful bite. Just as he leaped to get a good launch for an attack, Roseanna opened her mouth and ordered acid. Selene groaned and buried her face in her hands. She should have known! Bellossom shot the attack out just before Kenai could reach it, and Kenai went flying backwards from the sheer force of the attack. He hit the wall and trembled, both from the force and the poison working through his system. Selene tried to think of what to do, and then she realized what she would have to. From now on, Kenai would have to be something of a sacrifice. She hated it, but it had to happen if she was going to win this badge. Bellossom needed to be worn down. It wouldn't use mega drain, simply because that would do virtually nothing.

"Kenai just keep up with ember," Selene said, her voice sounding a bit less enthusiastic. "Don't give in." Perhaps Kenai picked up on her tone, for he looked at her in an unsure way before attacking again.

Bellossom danced around most of his embers, though a couple of them hit. Selene found it hard. She didn't like watching Kenai pause to try to catch his panting breaths to unleash another attack. Nor did she like it when Kenai trembled and yowled, though he would not give in. Kenai stood strong and refused to fall or faint, and Selene found it remarkable. She watched Bellossom shoot another acid spout in Kenai's direction, and knew it was over. Kenai went down before the attack even struck. He had no chance after that last poison. Selene clenched her teeth as the judge declared Roseanna the winner of this round. As she brought Kenai back, Selene knew her hopes were all riding on Denahi.

"That was a brave Growlithe," Roseanna commented.

"Thanks for the compliment, but you're going down now," Selene said harshly. She was through. She wanted this to be over now.

Denahi appeared in a burst of white light, and Roseanna looked very surprised. It seemed that she didn't expect a rock type, something weak against her Pokemon, to come before her in the final round. Selene wasted no time. She shouted for Denahi to go in with an immediate take down. Harsh and fast.

"Bellossom, use sweet scent. Follow with sunny day and then mega drain."

With a set up like that, it would be over in a single move. Denahi snorted and charged, kicking up dirt as he did. Bellossom emitted that same sickeningly sweet scent as before, and all Selene could do was hope that Denahi could make it hit. Then Bellossom's petals suddenly began to grow, and the arena grew hotter. The sunny day was taking effect. All the Pokemon needed now was a mega drain, and it would most assuredly be done. Bellossom began to prepare, but luckily for Selene Denahi got there first. He slammed into the flower, and both it and Roseanna looked surprised. There was a low chance that attack would hit, but it had.

"Nice Denahi," Selene called, feeling a bit happier. "Go for a headbutt! If that doesn't work, do another take down!"

Selene knew she was being risky. Take down had already taken a bit of Denahi's health, and if she kept this up it would end in a stalemate. Selene felt confident in Denahi, she wasn't confident in the fact that Bellossom wouldn't use mega drain though. So, as Denahi's headbutt connected, Selene began to feel a bit more hopeful. Then Denahi whipped about, slamming his foot into Bellossom's petals and knocking it backwards and into the wall.

Selene's eyes went wide. It was so quick. Just like that. When the rubble cleared, Bellossom had a dazed look on its face. Denahi charged again, and this time it was over.

"I have to admit, that was a good battle," Roseanna admitted. Rafael was standing by her side. "I never would have though a Cranidos would have come through and beat my Bellossom like that, but I guess you showed me," Roseanna stated warmly. "And here is your reward." It was the Forest Badge. Selene took the shiny emblem, and then showed it to Denahi.

"Crani!" he stated happily.

"Yeah," she agreed. Finally it was done.

Route 211

The small road toward the mountain is a steep and stony one. There is some grassland, but barely any trees left, and there's a long thick log-bridge over a small stream, too far down for anyone to reach, so I suggest you do not fall into it. There are barely any Pokémon here, but don't be afraid, there's plenty inside the mountain pass.

But everywhere there are small paths that veer off of the main one, and there's the one that leads all the way inward toward Snow Point. The mountain can be a maze to those who don't know their way through, so be careful and stay on the path. If you're looking for Pokémon, however, be prepared to look around.

NOTE: You can do both routes in one post, or split it up. In the end you arrive in Celestic Town.

While Roseanne handed Kenny his badge Sunny stood firmly on the field breathing hard. Suddenly she began to glow a bright white. She became taller and wider. When the light faded from her body she had two green bushed on her back and a hard yellow shell that covered the top of her head.

"Grotle!" The pokemon roared standing up on her two back legs.

"Oh my, that grotle is adorable." Roseanne said running over to the newly evolved pokemon and hugging her.

"Sunny you evolved. That is amazing." Kenny said amazed.

"That grotle is lucky." Mr. Henderson muttered under his breath giving a glare at Sunny.

After all the excitement of the battle and Sunny evolving Kenny and Mr. Henderson finally head out of the gym. Kenny and his dad walked through the town heading back to the Pokemon Center.

"Son I was wondering if you would let me take Barney for a while."

"Barney?" Kenny said raising his eyebrows. "Why Barney?"

"Well I have work I need to do at home and Barney will be a big help. I would also like to try something out with him."

"Okay, I guess you can." Kenny said unwillingly. Kenny and his dad walked into the pokemon center so Kenny could let his pokemon rest. After about thirty minutes Nurse Joy called for Kenny to let him pick up his pokemon. Kenny grabbed all of them and separated Barney's from the rest of them.

Calling out everyone from there pokeballs Kenny turned to face his dad. "Okay guys I am giving Barney to my dad for a while so lets bid him farewell." Kenny said keeping his head up. Chewy jumped up top Kenny's head while Tony jumped on his shoulder trying to cuddle up with her. Sunny stood by Kenny's side watching Barney walk off with his dad.

Kenny looked at his team and gave a little smile. "Don't worry guys Barney will be back." Kenny said confidently knowing his Dad is up to something special. Taking a deep breath Kenny began walking out of the pokemon center. Sunny ran up behind Kenny and rammed him knocking him onto her back. Sunny was much bigger than she was when she was a Turtwig and wanted to carry her trainer.

Kenny headed north from the pokemon center and then headed east towards the mountains. Seeing the mountains reminded Kenny of Barney making him put his head down. Chewy and Tony tried to cheer him up while Sunny kept walking. Kenny looked around in the grassy area around the mountains and would see a pokemon or two running around every once and a while.

Kenny and his team came up to a bridge that leads to the mountains. Wanting to stop and look at the river that ran under it. Kenny hopped off of Sunny and sat on the side of the bridge kicking his feet while his pokemon went off to the grass area to play.

"I wonder how mom is doing." Kenny sighed lying back across the bridge. Kenny began to close his eyes and drift off to sleep. Turning his head to check on his pokemon he noticed this huge bird that was standing on one leg.

"Hoo Hoo." The pokemon said tilting its head. The pokemon startled Kenny almost knocking him off the bridge. The pokemon hopped towards Kenny seemingly interested in him. Kenny calmed down and reached his arm out to pet it. "Hoo." The pokemon called out hopping on his arm making its way to Kenny's head. The pokemon stared at his head tilting its head back and forward. Suddenly the pokemon drove its beak into Kenny's hair and pulled out a clump of hair and then flew off towards the mountains.
Kenny grabbed the spot the pokemon yanked out to see if there was a gap in his hair. Finding that it was quite easy to repair, Kenny went back to lying on the bridge. While the pokemon were playing Sunny accidentally stepped on Chewy's tail, which made Tony mad and she started wailing on Sunny. The grotle took off running trying to get away from Tony as he wailed her with his ears Chewy used that as her chance to get rid of Tony and ran towards Kenny's bag to hide.

"Hey buddy what's up?" A voice called out from a distance.

"Please don't be Dustin." Kenny whispered to himself.

"You should remember me from when we lived in Sinnoh a few years ago."

Kenny tilted his head and saw a kid about his age in a blue polo and a white long sleeve shirt underneath it. He had about the same complexion as Kenny and was a little bit taller. He had on a pair of blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The boy had a white and blue stripped scarf and a blue beanie.

"Is that……?"

"Yep. It's me bro." The boy said interrupting Kenny.

"Jerry how have you been."

"I am pretty good just started my journey not too long ago and just beaten the grass gym leader."

"Cool so what pokemon do you have?"

"Well I have this guy." Jerry said pulling out an apriball covered in water drops on a white ball. The pokemon that came out was a medium sized turtle that was a blue shade and its tail was very bushy and white. "War War." The pokemon cried at it stretched its arms. "This is Corey my Wartortle."

Kenny pulled out his pokedex to get some information about the pokemon. Pointing the dex at Wartortle and after about 10 seconds' text appeared on the screen.

"Wartortle, the turtle pokemon. It has a large tail which is covered in a rich fur and shows signs of longevity. The scratches on its shell show others how tough of a battler it is."

The pokedex stop and then Kenny closed it and placed it his bag pulling out Chewy.

"This is Chewy my first pokemon." Kenny said holding up Pikachu in front of his body. Tony turned, saw Chewy, and hopped over to where she was. Chewy started to wiggle trying to escape from Kenny's grip but it was no use and she gave up. As Tony got closer Kenny placed Chewy on the ground and picked him up. "This is Tony and he is madly in love with Chewy so that is why she is hiding from Tony."

Jerry laughed and proceeded to call out his next pokemon. "This is Rufus." Jerry said calling out a small gray and black puppy with big yellow eyes and a red nose. Rufus is a Poochyena." Rufus stood right next to Jerry's leg afraid of the other trainer in front of him. "My last pokemon is my Larry my slakoth." Jerry said turning around revealing a brownish color pokemon hanging from Jerry's back. The pokemon turned its head and looked at Kenny with its eyes half open. "Yeah Larry is pretty lazy but I can't wait until it evolves."

"Well my last pokemon is over there in the grass. That is Sunny my recently evolved grotle." Kenny pointed to the pokemon just lying in the grass.

"Awesome so we each have three pokemon."

"Yeah we do."

"So are you heading out to Celestic Town?"

"Yes I thought I might check out some of the sites of this cave before I went on though."

"Well want to battle?"

"Okay Jerry a double battle."

"Why not."

"Okay well I choose Tony and Chewy." Pikachu threw her head down after finding out she has to battle with Tony. Tony just smiled and danced his way in front of Kenny waiting for his partner to join him.

"Well Corey and Larry are up for me." The Wartortle ran behind Jerry taking the Slakoth from behind his back and carried it to the field.

"Well I guess I will make the first move. Chewy use sweet kiss. On Corey." Kenny knew that if Tony saw Chewy kiss another pokemon he would get jealous and attack. Pikachu ran over to Wartortle to try to kiss him.

"Okay Corey use rapid spin while you hold Larry tight. Larry use scratch. " Wartortle withdrew itself into its shell while holding Slakoth and began to spin. The dangling Larry began to flap its free arm around making like a fuzzy spike ball. Chewy stopped her attack and Tony was right behind her. Tony jumped over her head landing on the spinning pokemon.

"Now use pound Tony. Chewy use a thundershock." Tony jump up and Chewy launched an electric jolt at the spinning pokemon.

"Now use Protect Corey." Wartortle popped out of its shell and created a shield of light in front of him, which took the thundershock and then disappeared. Tony still above him pounded the turtle pokemon into the ground. Heading to the ground Corey turned around and threw Larry at Tony which he latched on to him staring Tony dead in the face.

"Now use yawn Larry." Slakoth opened its mouth and let out a big yawn in Tony's face making him do the same. Corey jumped back up grabbing Larry while Tony headed to the ground dozing off. After landing Corey turned around and Chewy was right there and gave him a sweet kiss. Tony eyes instantly opened and he landed on his feet. Tony then charged the Wartortle and started to beat up on it. Slakoth laid there watching Corey get beat up and then a flash of light covered him. Larry started to stand up on its feet and jump around. The light faded and the pokemon gave a big roar.

"VIGOROTH!" The pokemon yelled sticking its hand in front of Tony's attack. Tony looked up and saw a big monkey like pokemon. Larry tossed Tony over by Chewy.

"Okay Corey hit them with a water gun." Wartortle released a high pressured water attack at both Chewy and Tony drenching them. Chewy and Tony tried to dry themselves off but then Larry was all over them scratching them. Both Tony and Chewy lay on the ground dazed. "Nice job guys."

"Wow that was the first time I lost." Kenny said walking to his fallen pokemon giving each of them a potion. Chewy jumped up feeling great and jumped on Kenny's head. Tony sat on the ground disappointed that she could not protect Chewy. Returning Tony and Sunny to their balls Kenny walked up to Jerry. "That was a great match."

"Yeah I would have lost if it wasn't for Larry evolving."

"So do you want to head over to Celestic Town together?" Kenny asked hoping he would say yes.

"Sure why not maybe we will find a pokemon that we can catch."

Kenny knew the only reason he asked Jerry to come with him was because Jerry would help him forget about Barney leaving. Walking across the bridge Kenny perked up and with Jerry by his side entered the cave.

"And there's a cave after this," Mackie muttered darkly. This path was pretty bad, being so steep, but he'd take steep over dark, any day.

His leg wasn't quite mended, not just yet, but he was forcing himself to take it slow, and stop now and then, too. Not like there was a lack of places to park his behind, either. Still, for the first little while he was impatient, timing his rests and fidgeting until he moved on. When the upward angle started to take its toll, and he sat down for the first time because he actually wanted too, he bothered to take notice of what was around him.

"Oh. Not bad," he said, surprised, pulling his hat off and raking one hand back through his hair. His fingers caught at the base of the elastic holding his hair back, and he pulled it out, shaking his head and finger-combing the mess a little before tying it up again, all while staring around himself.

The sight before him held a good view. There was Eterna, below him, and he could pick out the red roof of the pokemon center, and see the map made by the city streets. The forest beyond it was a wide sea of green, lit up by the midmorning sun.

There was a little green here too, some grass, though nothing that looked quite liable to harbour hostile pokemon. He should let everyone out for a while, he thought. He wasn't really in the mood for a battle, but with the openness of the vicinity, and the fact that he hadn't seen anyone in a little while, he thought it would be fine.

"Come on, everyone. Wakey time," he said, as he pulled out the balls and opened them one by one. Luster stretched and yawned, and ruffled her feather.

"Swaaablu," she greeted him, blinking sleepily. She moved to perch on his back, off the dirty ground, then started grooming herself.

"Morning, pretty girl," he told her, and reached out to run his knuckled gently over her head, careful not to muss her feathers. Luster was next, appearing right in the air to make a leisurely circle around the area before perching on a nearby stone that rose higher than Mackie's head, and turning her wings to soak op some sun.

The Stantler was next, and she blinked and looked slowly around. "Hey there," Mackie greeted, and she turned to look at him and dip her antlers in acknowledgment. Mackie nodded as well. It had been long enough since the capturing contest, it seemed, he didn't get so discomfited by her now, and in turn she didn't seem to be so wary. "G'wan have a nibble," he urged. "I think it gets dried out further up, more rocks." She dipped her antlers again, and moved off, nose lowered to sniff at the grass consideringly.

He let out the Gligar last, and he wasn't surprised when the little fella clung on to him in a somewhat hard-edged hug. "Hey, little thing. Good to see you too."

The Gligar was content to "ride" him while he pulled out some pokemon food and a few berries he'd picked along the way. He scattered some in front of Bonnie, for her to pick at when she was done arranging her feathers. Luster perked up when he approached with food, and hovered upward, so she could dart to catch each piece individually as he threw them. She never missed anymore.

The Stantler looked up when he came over, and pushed her nose into his palm, snuffling eagerly. Carefully, he reached out and touched her neck. Her sleepy-looking eyes glanced right at him then, before half-closing again while she finished the food. He drew his fingers down the fur of her neck, feeling the smoothness of it. "Maybe it's not so bad for a while," he said to her. "I guess you knew pretty fast that we're not quite right for each other, huh," he said, still stroking her neck, and then her shoulder when she returned to the grass again. "But I know you're gonna be great in battles. We'll find the perfect trainer. You'll see."

"Stantler..." he heard, muffled from the grass. The response sounded encouraging. If she could do psychic things, maybe she could tell his good intentions.

"Alright," he nodded, half to himself, and let her be.

"Gligar, gar, gligar," said the Gligar, mouthing at his shoulder. No fangs was a benefit, right then.

"Yeah, yeah, but you gotta get down," Mackie informed him, and the Gligar obediently clambered off him to sit on a rock, his eyes and his smile looking too big for the rest of his little body. "Eat up," Mackie said, and set his food down.

The Gligar ate happily, but not ravenously like he had the first few times. It had taken him some practice to figure out that no one was going to steal his food, and now he seemed to enjoy it much more.

This rest stretched out through the rest of the morning, but Mackie found he didn't mind so much. Luster came over to pester Bonnie, and they chased each other for a little while. The Gligar, once finished eating, actually dared to explore a little, and Mackie got to see his natural climbing ability in action as he clambered over the rocks with no trouble, not even on vertical surfaces.

"Hey Luster!" Mackie called, and whistled. Both girls knew that signal, so when he added "show me Aerial Ace!" and pointed at Bonnie, Luster zipped straight at her, while Bonnie wove and dodged as best she could. Luster finally hit her—or rather pulled the move's punch and just barely touched her—and then it was Bonnie's turn. "Show me Fury Attack!" And so on it went, through Silver Wind and Astonish and Quick Attack and Peck and all the rest. "Good girls!" he cheered them on. This was hardly much of a practice, but they liked showing off anyway.

Bonnie came circling down to land, after that, while Luster kept on playing in the breezes, and she landed in the grass in front of the Stantler, then turned to Mackie expectantly. The Stantler, too, turned to look at him. "You want... well, uh," he hesitated. He hadn't gotten the Stantler to do much of anything yet, and wasn't sure if she'd know she was suppose to control her power here. "Show me Peck," he asked Bonnie. Maybe an example would be enough.

Bonnie rose in the air and dropped down over the Stantler, pecking her smartly, but gently, on the head.

"Stant... ler," she said slowly.

"Well," Mackie worried at the inside of his cheek a moment. "Okay, uh, Stantler, show me Tackle." He said the words, made sure not to ask, not to give the impression he thought she couldn't do it right.

"Stant," she acknowledged. Bonnie circled away from her, and she shot forward, turning quick enough to follow, and then struck Bonnie with her antlers... lightly. Bonnie was bounced forward in the air a bit, but she just circled back towards the Stantler again.

Well. Okay. Good.

A twitch of movement caught his eye, and he looked upward. The Gligar was at the top of the rock Luster had sunned herself on, watching Bonnie and the Stantler face each other. Was that, just maybe, a little bit of interest?

Mackie turned back to the girls. "Bonnie, show me Feather Dance," he said. They had to get going soon, but a little more showing off to the Gligar couldn't hurt.

*

"Stel," Mackie said suddenly, and Bonnie, riding on his head now, shifted slightly. Everyone else had returned to their pokeballs for the further walk up.

"Swa?" she asked.

"For the little thing. He needs a name, still. I think that would be good. It's the name of a robot, from a comic book I used to read." The Gligar was hardly a robot, but he did have tough skin, his big claws and tail were real hard, and he was brave too, just like the robot had been. Not fighting-brave like Luster, but he still was, definitely. He had only been away from the other Gligar who'd bullied him for a little while, and he was already getting happier. He hadn't been beaten down all the way, even being smacked around all the time, so there was courage in him, for sure.

"Swablu," Bonnie replied encouragingly. Mackie nodded (just slightly, so as not to dislodge her). He'd have to ask the little thing, to make sure. But it seemed like a good...

The sound of little rocks slipping and tumbling made him pause and look behind, but there was nothing there that he could see, so he kept on going, looking up at the path ahead, listening to the rustle of wind in the now-sparse grasses and the sound of his own footsteps. Bonnie was quiet, just hanging out and enjoying her human-based mode of travel.

He heard some shuffling behind him, then a thump and grunt, and he turned around again. Nothing there. No—wait. There was a bit of movement, behind that rock, but only for a second. What in the world..?

But he didn't really want to backtrack, not even just twenty feet, if it meant he'd have to go back up this steep hill again. If that was a pokemon following him or something, if it wanted to fight, it ought to just come out, after all. If it didn't, what was it doing? Just watching him?

He turned away and kept on, smiling slightly to himself at that idea. Why not? If the professor was sending people out with pokedexes to catalog pokemon, maybe some pokemon liked to study people. They probably didn't people-dexes, though the idea entertained him, and he thought of what his own entry would be.

Mackie – Home area, Solaceon.
This human likes watching the skies, and wearing overalls. Its home range is the Solaceon area, however it is known to wander in search of pokemon.

Mackie chuckled to himself. The his leg twinged at him insistently and he parked himself for a little rest. There was the faint scrape of those pursuing little footsteps, then quiet.

Thoughtful, Mackie pulled his pokedex out of his bag, wondering if it could detect the... whatever it was through the adjacent rocky and grassy cover. "Nope," he realized. Maybe the whatever-it-was was too far, or maybe the stuff in between made it not work. Too bad—

The sound of full-pelt running made him look over and his gaze shot up, and this time he did see a little light-purple and brownish bipedal shape dashing among the grasses from the direction he'd just walked in... and then it ran past him, and ahead, and flung itself in a skidding slide behind a large rock.

"What..?" Mackie asked the shape, confused. Then he heard scrambling, and the pokemon, for that's what it was, now that he could see it in relative stillness, was climbing up the rock it had just hidden behind.

It stood there, little fists on its little hips, and puffed its chest out, standing up there like a strongman or a movie star. It had a big head, compared to the rest of its lean little self, with three crest-like things in a line over the top. It had big yellow-brown eyes and was brown around its hips and feet like it was wearing pants and little shoes.

It took a huge breath, and pointed at him so hard it nearly lost its balance (the top of the rock wasn't very flat) and bellowed, "TYYYYROGUE!!"

Mackie winced at the sound of it, and opened the pokedex again, glancing down to read the entry. "Famous for its eagerness to fight, huh," Mackie said, then looked up when the Tyrogue yelled at him again.

"Tyy!!! Tyrogue!!" it shouted, and looked extremely offended that he'd looked away. It struck its pose again, stood proudly, raised its head... and lost its footing, tumbling down off the rock into a heap at its base.

"Swablu!!" Bonnie said, sounding worried, and she hopped off Mackie's head to glide over and set down nearby. "Swa?" she asked it, as it blinked, slightly stunned, and looking a little red—or at least darker purple—in the face at its fall.

"Tyrogue." it declared, and got to its feet, patting dust off itself and leaning back against the rock with its arms crossed, and let its eyes half-close, as if it was cool. Or trying to be, anyway.

Mackie laughed. The Tyrogue shot a glower at him, which only made him laugh harder, but he caught himself and forced the mirth back down again when the skinny thing visibly deflated, and sat down in a cross-legged sulk.

"I'm sorry," Mackie told it. "Sorry." He had to work to keep a straight face. Was that why it had run ahead? So it could jump out and... grandstand? It hadn't wanted to be seen catching up, so it had stayed hidden until it had a chance to get in front of him and, what, impress him?

The fact that it had fallen off the rock didn't inspire him in its physical fitness, he had to admit, but he had to admire its enthusiasm, and he did really feel a little sorry for making it embarrassed.

"Well, Bonnie... you realize we have an opponent here?" he asked her, and he pulled out his other balls as well.

The Tyrogue sat up straight then, big eyes flicking from Bonnie to Mackie and to the balls, and back again.

"Swaa..." she cocked her head, then looked at the Tyrogue, which started to get slowly to its feet, staring right back.

"Looks like a fierce one, too," Mackie said, only half for show. That look in its eyes was definitely promising.

It stood up fully, and backed away, dropping into a ready stance, and Mackie watched it carefully. Then he nearly smacked his forehead with its palm when it raised its arms, little hands in claw shapes, and waved them at Bonnie.

But then it fell back into a real battle stance, and Bonnie lifted herself into a hover.

"Tyyyy..." it started, and braced itself for a windup.

"Bonnie! Feather Dance!" he called, and she whipped the cloud of feathers at it. It burst out the other side looking undeterred, though it was shaking the static-clung feathers off itself. It kept its eyes on Bonnie, though, and charged.

"Peck!" Mackie told her, and his eyes widened when the Tyrogue connected, slamming into her hard, no trace of its clumsiness in the way it had followed her attempt to dodge. When it was focused, it was definitely focused, Mackie thought.

"Blu!" Bonnie squawked in surprised, and tumbled back. She righted herself, and charged right back for the Peck...

And landed the Peck just as hard, because the Tyrogue had assumed a "victory"-looking pose, both arms flexed up and its chin up and proud, and wasn't paying any attention at all.

Mackie did smack his forehead with his palm this time.

The Tyrogue skidded back, and then picked itself up faced Bonnie again. Well, there was that at least. It didn't get into a sulk during battle.

It was looking tired already, however, that Peck had hit it straight on. "Bonnie, lay off!" he called, and she pulled up, avoiding its next tackle, just barely. The Tyrogue turned to look at him, eyes bright, and did the "victory" pose again, and Mackie, with great difficulty, did not roll his eyes. "Yeah, you're a big old showoff, that's what you are," he told it. "But you hit like a truck. How bout you come along?" he threw a pokeball, held his breath, and leaned forward to watch it twitch.

"Alright! Route 211, here we come!" Sara shouted as she walked onto the Route, sighing happily to herself as she looked upon the dirt road ahead of her. With a hand on the strap on her pack and humming a random tune, the girl continued to walk into the route. Once again, she wondered once more if she should catch another Pokemon or not.

Of course, the thought of Pokemon made Sara stop short. Once she did, she had to finally face the thing she has been avoiding since she won the Catching Contest. What was she going to do with Yansa? Sara had already decided that she was going to trade the bird, but to who and for what? Not to mention, how would she feel being traded after just winning her trainer a Badge? Still, there was no way that she could keep two Normal/Flying types and she was not about to trade Destiny. Speaking of the Togetic...

"Destiny, come out!" Sara shouted as she threw the green Apri ball. The ball opened up and in a flash of light Destiny appeared in the air. She let out a happy cry and flew around her trainer's head, making the girl smile despite herself."Huh, nice to see ya too. But, we need to get down to buisness."

"Toge?" Destiny asked, flying in front of Sara and tilted her head.

Sara reached into her pack and took out a clear stone with a glowing center. She held it out to the Togetic and said, "You see this Destiny? This is a Shiny Stone. If I hold this up to your head, then you will evolve. What you will evolve into I really don't know. We can save this for later but, with your premission, I would like to have you evolve right now."

"Togetic..." Destiny said, frowning as she thought over what her trainer told her. She stared at the ground for a while before looking back up at her trainer with a smile. She nodded her head vegeriously, making Sara laugh.

"Alright then! Lets do this!" Sara said and held the stone right next to the Togetic's head. The stone glowed brightly, soon making Destiny glow as well. The trainer pulled her hand and now dull looking stone away from Destiny and watched once more as the evolution process of the Togetic.

Destiny got bigger and soon grew rounder. Her arms sunk into her body while her legs grew shorter and her wings got very big. The spikes around her head also grew out though there was less of them. Soon, the glowing went away and a new Pokemon stood before Sara. Destiny blinked and look at her new body before crying out happily.

"Togekiss, kiss!" Destiny shouted doing back flips in the air.

"Togekiss, huh?" Sara said with a smile, taking her Pokedex out once more and aimming it at the cheerful Pokemon.

"Togekiss, the Jubliee Pokemon. Togekiss is the evolve form of Togetic. It shares many blessings with people who respects other's rights and avoid needless strife."

"Wow, you just keep getting happier and happier, huh?" Sara commented, smiling once more. "Though I guess its not a bad thing."

"Togekiss!" Destiny cried out once more and flew over to her trainer, nuzzeling her fondly.

Sara chuckled a bit and patted Destiny's head. Both started, though, when they heard a branch snap behind them. They turned around and their eyes widen when a boy about the same age as her was suddenly in front of her. She thought that he was going to challenge her to a battle and waited for him to say so, but he just remained silent. Things were quiet for a while, neither saying a thing.

Then, the boy looked to the Togekiss and said, "A Togekiss...they say that only trainer that are pure of heart can even hope to have one, even if they had it since it was a Togepi."

"Well...I don't know about that 'pure of heart' thing," Sara said, rubbing the back of her head, "but she does seem to like me..."

"Still, you have to be good person if you want to have one," the boy said, looking down at the ground. He then looked back up at the girl and walked over to her. "Look...I have something I want to ask of you. You see...I have this Pokemon that, though I like very much, I just can't take care. Please don't ask why, I really don't want to tell you...I've been looking for a good trainer to give this Pokemon too, but I'm nervous. I just don't know if that person will be the right one or not. But, seeing you with that Togekiss and how it likes you...I'm convinced that you can take care of this little girl for me."

"Um...sure, I'll take care of it," Sara said, stunned. She had no idea what this boy was talking about. But, if he really wanted to give her a Pokemon because she thought she could take care of it well, then who was she to deny him. "Though just wondering, since I'm gonna take it no matter what, what Pokemon is?"

"It's a female Vulpix, named Flare," the boy said, reaching into his pocket and taking out a smaller, white Apri ball. with a painted on flame design. He held it out to Sara. "She was my first Pokemon but...I just can't keep her. Please, take good care of her."

"I will," Sara said with a nod and carefully took the ball from the boy. He stared at her for a while before turning around and walking away with out a backwards glance.

"Man...that was weird..." Sara said, Destiny nodded in agreement. She then looked at the ball containing the Vulpix that was now her's. She wondered if she should let her out now and see what she could do, but decided against it. Beside, she had other Pokemon that needed to be trainer, namely Destiny.

"Right, well see how Flare is later," Sara muttered to herself. "But for now, I need to trainer Destiny and Lee so that they're one the same level as Yansa and Angela. In that case..."

The girl threw one of her two occupied balls up and in a flash of light Lee appeared. He looked around himself before turning to his trainer. He jumped when he saw the larger Pokemon beside her and growled at it. Destiny gave a squeek of fright and moved behind Sara, making her sigh at the Ralts.

"Lee, don't worry about it," Sara said. "This is Destiny, she is a new member of the party. You two will be training together for the next little bit, so that it'll make up for me using Yansa and Angela in the last battle."

Lee stared at the girl for a while before nodding and folding his arms, obviously impatient for the training to begin. Sara sighed before walking back down the Route, followed by the two Pokemon beside her. For a while, everything was quiet and uneventful. But, of course, that didn't last very long.

Soon enough an Igglybuff and a Tyrogue appeared in front of Sara and her Pokemon. The Igglybuff puffed up and tried to glare menacingly at the two but, failed with its cute face. The Tyrogue just grunted and got into a fighting position, hopping on one foot and another as it looked at them.

"Alright, not a bad way to start this," Sara said with a smirk though she quickly took her Pokedex out and aimed it at the two Pokemon.

"Igglybuff, the Balloon Pokemon. It has a soft, bouncy body. Once it starts bouncing, it doesn't stop."

"Tyrogue, the Scuffle Pokemon. It is famous for its eagerness for battle and constantly nurses wounds from larger foes."

"Uh, interesting," Sara said. "Stii; Lee, Destiny, get ready to battle!"

"Ralts!" Lee said with a nod and jumped in front of his trainer, seeming to be glad that there was now a battle. Destiny was less eager to fight but also flew in front of her trainer.

"Alright, now then; Destiny, use Sweet Kiss on that Igglybuff! Lee, Confusion on the Tyrogue!" Sara shouted.

Lee nodded and, after having his body glow a bit, sent out a powerful psychic blast onto the Tyrogue. The Scuffle Pokemon cried out as it was hit and was slammed onto the ground. Destiny quickly flew and kissed the Igglybuff on the cheek. The Ballon Pokemon blushed, then started to walk around on wobbly feet and in circles. The Tyrogue growled as got up from the attack angry that his partner was now confused. He then ran towards Lee but before he land a Tackle attack, the Ralts teleported to a different spot, smirking at the Tyrogue when he came back.

"Alright, nice going guys," Sara said. "Lee, finish that Tyrogue with Confusion! Destiny, use Magical Leaf on the Igglybuff!"

Lee grinned more and, with a short cry, sent out another blast of psychic energy at the Fighting type. The Scuffle Pokemon was caught off guard and cried out as it was thrown into the air. It then slammed into the ground a couple times, going limp at the last bounce. Destiny nodded at her trainer's orders and some leaves with a multicoloured aura came up to her before she launched them at the Igglybuff, making it squeak as the attack hit it. It then tried to Pound the Togekiss but it was very easy for her to dodge.

"Great, now; Destiny use another Magical Leaf, Lee Conufsion!" Sara shouted.

Both of her Pokemon nodded and both used their attacks at the same time, Lee having another psychic blast shoot out. The Igglybuff cried out as the attacks hit it and soon fell to the ground, out for the count.

"Nice going you two," Sara said with a smile. "Now let's get going. Maybe more Pokemon will come out soon."

Both the Ralts and the Togekiss nodded and followed their trainer when she started to walk down the Route once more. Sara tilted her head when, as she continued to walk down the road, a cave started to appear before her. She was wondering what was in that cave when, suddenly, two Hoothoots appeared out of no where and blocked her way, glaring at her. One was larger then the other.

"Well, look like we have another battle on our hands," Sara said with a small smile and once again took her Pokedex out.

"Hoothoot, the Owl Pokemon. It marks time precisely. Some countries considered it a wise friend."

Sara just nodded at the information, then said, "Lee, use Confusion on the bigger Hoothoot! Destiny…lets try to that Metronome attack!"

"Togekiss," Destiny said with a nod, then started to move its body back and forth as the Ralts started to smash the larger Hoothoot against the trees. She continued to move that way for a while before stopping. She then looked at the smaller Hoothoot and, after taking a deep breath, shot out a powerful jet of flames at the Owl. The smaller Hoothoot cried out in pain as it was engulfed by the flames. When the orange and red flames disappeared, the smaller bird was already on the ground, knocked out.

"Wow, for once it worked," Sara said, blinking, but then smiled. The smile went away when the bigger Hoothoot, enraged by what happened to it's comrade, broke the psychic bond that kept it from moving and Pecked Lee hard.

"Lee!" Sara shouted as the Ralts was knocked back. She was about to go over to the Psychic type but stopped when he got back up.

Lee looked up and glared at the Hoothoot before once against surround both him and it with the psychic aura. Then, even more then before, he bashed the bird against the trees. Destiny, scared of what she was seeing, quickly flew to hide behind Sara. The girl frowned before shouting, "Lee! Stop this at once!"

The Ralts stopped what he was doing and, after a pause, broke the link and let the knocked out owl fall to the ground. He then walked back to his trainer and looked up, waiting to see what would happen.

Sara just sighed and returned Lee to his Pokeball. "What is it with me and angry Pokemon?" She muttered to herself. "Well, no point in dwelling on it now. Might as well continue on."

"Toge…" Destiny said with a small nod. With that, the two walked into the cave.

Charzeon - Great post, I liked the Flare thing.

Congratulations, Destiny evolved into a Togekiss and grew to lv. 13!
congratulations, Lee grew to lv. 16!
Sara received Flare, the Vulpix.

Selene went to the Pokemon Center first. It was a must. She felt she just had to get Kenai healed and apologize. Denahi followed her quietly, but it was almost obvious that he was half basking in the glory of winning. Selene probably would have chided him had she noticed. Where normally Selene would be estatic that they had won, just as Denahi was now, Selene currently found her understanding to be a bit better. Now that Kenai had gotten sufficiently hurt, she figured that she would have to start being more careful and think a bit more. She was winging it. Selene had realized that grudgingly during the battle, and now she was going to do the best she could to correct that.

"Nurse Joy, please heal my team," Selene said, practically shoving the Pokeballs at Nurse Joy. Denahi trotted after the woman and into the back room. Selene let out a breath and went over to one of the benches to wait.

While she waited, Selene leaned forward to stare at the ground and ponder. She had two gym badges now. It was like saying that she, when the fractions were reduced, had 1/4 of the badges she needed. Selene sighed and pulled out her map. It was only going to get harder from here, the journey. Selene glanced at the route leading out from Eterna City. It would take her straight into Mt. Coronet and, depending on which way she went, to a new city. Figuring Celestic Town was the best way to go, Selene folded the map back up and tucked it into her back pocket. There was a binging sound. Her Pokemon were done.

Nurse Joy handed them to her and bade her a good day. Selene thanked the nurse and exited the Pokemon Center. She paused and brought out Kenai and Gastly.

Kenai shook himself and barked happily. His dark eyes shone with excitement as he looked up at Selene. Gastly, on the other hand, began to float about airily and chant her name. Selene found a grin appearing on her lips as several people gave Gastly a strange look. Selene crouched down next to Growlithe.

"I'm sorry, Kenai," she whispered. "I didn't mean for you to get all banged up like you did. We're still pals, right?"

"Growl!" Kenai barked, his fluffy tail wagging quickly. Gastly, apparently wanting to be noticed, floated up and began to make faces above Kenai's head. Selene laughed.

"And I guess you need a name, don't'cha?" she questioned. Selene frowned and thought. She had a good theme going here, and she figured there was no sense in breaking said theme now. "How about...Tanana? You seem very much like a creepy old sha...woman to me," Selene declared. Gastly didn't seem to mind. She continued floating about happily, making odd faces on the occasion. Kenai gave her a funny look. "Alrighty then," Selene said slowly, "now that that's settled, I suppose we'd best be on our way. Off to Celestic Town!" Selene stood from her crouch and recalled them both.

Selene then began her walk towards Celestic Town. There was a small road that led away from Eterna City. Selene observed it, and she found that it seemed to be rather steep and stony. Selene also saw some grass but barely any trees. She could make out a form of a bridge in the distance, but how deep the thing below it was Selene wasn't sure. She yawned a bit and then began her trek through Route 211 and toward the next town.

Less than half an hour in, Selene was thoroughly bored. There were barely any Pokemon around, and the ones she had seen didn't seem to be too keen on a fight. Selene kicked a rock rather dejectedly and was about to kick it again when she noticed that there was nowhere to kick it. Looking up, Selene saw the bridge she had spotted earlier just feet in front of her. Selene peered down and saw a small stream below the bridge. Then her gaze went back to the bridge. It really didn't look very stable, but what other options did she have? It wasn't like she could magically poof herself across, now was it? No, no it wasn't.

Selene sighed. She didn't really like old bridges. When she was a little kid she had had the mishap of falling off of one on her bike in the early morning. She had only gotten scraped up, but she had started crying and making a fuss. Sahib had saved her, of course. He had also made funny faces while her mom was cleaning her up, just so Selene wouldn't start crying again. She grinned a bit, and that grin soon faded as she focused back on the bridge. Yikes. A bridge.

Grumbling to herself, Selene reasoned that it wasn't likely anything would happen. Sure it was old, but thousands of people had probably...ok, maybe not people. Thousands of things had probably crossed over it. Nodding to herself, Selene carefully set a foot on the bridge and paused. Once she didn't feel it suddenly creak or give way under her foot, Selene began to walk across at a slow pace, glancing about her occasionally. The bridge was short and she made it across. Once she had, Selene had to admit she felt like a bit of a dummy. She had just been afraid of crossing a bridge by herself! I don't know how sad that is, but I'm pretty sure that goes under the sad category, Selene thought sarcastically as she half glared at the bridge.

"What'cha glaring at the bridge for?"

Selene looked over her shoulder. Dammit. Of course. It was Jake. He was sitting under a tree and looking at her with a raised eyebrow. "How did...why...what are you doing here? Stalking me again?!" Selene demanded, quickly changing the subject.

Jake grinned, obviously ignoring the subject change. "So you up for that battle now? I have a new Pokemon to show you."

Selene's eyes narrowed. "Bring it on, pretty boy," she retorted. She grabbed Tanana's Pokeball.

Jake smirked and stood, pulling out a shiny red and white orb. Selene glanced at his waist and saw that all of his Pokeballs had been switched to red and white. Curses. Now she didn't know what Pokemon he was going to use, but he most likely knew what she was. Gastly's Pokeball was one of those special Apri Balls she had gotten from the contest. Frowning to herself, Selene summoned Gastly. There was a flash of light, and then an angry roaring purple...monster was standing opposite of Tanana. Selene's eyes went wide. It was a Nidoking. Her mother had had one of these once. Selene's eyebrows furrowed.

"Is that Nidoran?" she asked softly.

"Nidoking now," Jake replied easily. He grinned widely. "You scared?" Selene stuck her tongue out at him. Jake laughed. "I guess that's a no. Alright then. Nidoking start off with dig!"

Selene tried to hide her grin, and she only just succeeded. Tanana floated about, not really determined into doing anything. Nidoking suddenly roared from the ground, but Tanana simply disappeared, causing the attack to miss and Nidoking to plummet back to the ground. The large Pokemon grunted and shook itself. Selene ordered for a hypnosis, to which Tanana complied. Nidoking closed his eyes and roared, almost seeming to think that the loud cry would stop the attack from reaching him. Jake didn't say anything as Nidoking fell to the ground, down for a nap. Selene smirked.

"Nice one Tanana. Now use night shade! When it wakes up, go for a curse attack," Selene called. She was planning this time, and she had a feeling that the planning was going pretty good.

Tanana danced about in the air as she basically sucked Nidoking's health away. Jake's eyebrows pinched together, and Selene cocked her head to the side curiously as he brought a long, golden stick out of his backpack. He moved the object to his lips and began to blow on it. Soft and sweet music began to waft through the air. Selene's eyes widened as Nidoking slowly got up and shook himself groggily. Selene's Gastly went into plan mode, heading straight for a curse. Jake stopped playing, and Nidoking shuddered when the curse took effect.

"Ah, you're winning and you've barely given me a chance!" Jake complained. "Well alright then. Let's use the new move I taught you. Nidoking attack with thunderbolt!"

Selene blinked. She had had no idea that a Nidoking could learn an electric type move. As the clouds darkened suddenly and electricity flew from the sky and slammed down on Tanana, Selene couldn't believe it. Her Gastly cried out as it was engulfed in the shocking yellow light. Selene bit her lip and waited. Once the dust cloud that had popped up from the attack had cleared, Selene found that Tanana was still floating, only now she was a bit closer to the ground. Selene didn't like that one bit. The Nidoking let out a roar and shuddered as the curse took affect abruptly.

"Tanana, use spite!" Selene ordered.

Tanana's eyes snapped open and suddenly a floating little...thing shot towards Nidoking. It vanished, and then reappeared from Nidoking's back. Nidoking roared and shook himself. Jake ordered another thunderbolt, knowing that despite the spite attack, it would still be good to go. Selene told Tanana to dodge, but it was way too late. The attack had struck. Nidoking roared suddenly, and there was a thud. When the field cleared, both Pokemon were down. Nidoking was done out from the curse and the night shades, and the thunderbolts had just been too much for Gastly. It was so quick, Selene couldn't believe it.

"Well, that's a pisser," Jake grumbled, pouting.

Fen - Great post, sounds like a tie to me.

Congratulations, Gastly grew to lv. 18!

Mackie normally didn't bother with more than basic greetings when meeting people on the path, though until now he'd spent most of his time rather more next to the path, or way off of it, so it hadn't mattered.

The path wasn't crowded anyway, and no one passed him going up, but a good few were coming down. There happened not to be any trainers it seemed, though one little girl, holding her father's hand and clutching a stuffed Starly, stared with wide eyes at Bonnie where she perched on his head. Mackie smiled at her, and felt Bonnie shift and preen, and as they passed each other, Mackie hear her voice pipe up, insistently asking her father about the "fluffy blue bird."

Up by the cave entrance, though, there was a young guy crouched just outside, giving a potion to something that resembled a giant lilypad with legs. Mackie grinned. Lotads were darn cute. He'd seen some before, in the big pond on the Brennan's ranch, back home. They looked just like plants in there, but if you waited long enough, you could see 'em peek out of the water. They trundled around on land in a funny way too. Taking the opportunity, he pulled out his pokedex to record this pokemon on it.

Once it had finished with the potion, the Lotad looked very perky, trotting around its trainer happily, and going a few steps back in towards the cave.

The guy straightened up, and saw Mackie, shooting him a smile. He looked like he was in his early teens, and had light red hair and blue eyes, and looked oddly familiar, though Mackie was sure he'd never met him before.

"Hi," Mackie greeted, raising one hand, and the guy waved back.

"Hey there, uh, I don't suppose you're heading into that cave?" he asked, and Mackie gave the entrance a mock-thoughtful look.

"Well, I dunno, I mean, I suppose I could just turn 'round and go back down again, after I got all the way up here," he said, and the guy made a half-grin of acknowledgment of that obvious answer.

"Well, I was just hoping, I mean, if you're not rushing," the guy said, looking hopefully at him, "see, I want to catch a Cleffa for my little sister, it's almost her birthday, but they're so hard to find. I've been looking since the sun came up, back and forth, but I haven't seen even one." He looked over at his Lotad. "Marbles defeated an Aron in there, and Ziggy downed a couple of Zubat, and I think I saw a Chingling, but that's it."

"Oh," Mackie said, "but I don't know how I can help, really." He didn't know if there was a way to attract a Cleffa.

"Well, that was my last potion," the guy said. "I'll be able to look around a bit more if someone else with pokemon comes with me, though." He still looked hopeful, but seemed braced for a refusal. It was a request that'd take someone out of their way, that was true.

Mackie gave the cave entrance a second thoughtful look, but it was real this time. He'd intended to go straight through this tunnel as fast as he possibly could. No detours. But it this guy had been hunting around all morning and was fine, there probably wasn't anything in there that pokemon couldn't protect them from.

He didn't really want to go wandering around a cave, but it wasn't like it was going to hurt him. Not this time, anyway. And after all, that Diglett had attacked him right on the main path.

"Okay," Mackie agreed, and the guy's face lit up in surprise.

"Wow! Thank you! I don't wanna stay in there forever, or anything, if we don't find one, we'll stop, but.. thanks," he said again, sighing with renewed determination. "My name's Daniel. Well, Danny." He bent to gather up his bag and sling it across his chest. "That's Marbles, like I said, she's my strongest pokemon," he pointed at the Lotad with his thumb, and the Lotad trundled in their direction and butted at her trainer. "Ziggy's a Swinub," he patted his bag, where Mackie could see the slight rounded outline of a ball.

"Mackenzie—Mackie," Mackie answered him. "That's Bonnie. She's a hat in her day job," he said, and Danny laughed.

"She's a... Swablu, right? They're rare in this region," he said.

"Yeah," Mackie confirmed, kind of impressed that Danny had known. "I have a few others, but I won't get 'em all out or they'll scare the cave fresh outta Cleffa."

Danny asked about them nonetheless, and Mackie was happy to talk about them, running off at the mouth, even, when he described Luster in action, or how he'd met Stel, or how Bonnie made him keep tidier than he'd ever been in his whole life.

"But what's a Swinub?" he asked Danny, voice quiet now, as they moved off the lighted path to investigate one of the offshoot tunnels. They'd both recalled their pokemon to make moving easier. "Ain't heard of those."

"Little tiny ice/ground type, from, well, where there's ice, mostly," Danny replied, dropping down to a crouch, which Mackie copied. "Speedy, too, and kinda tough against physical attacks, but not so much against special. They look like little furry brown-striped stones. Sometimes they're silvery, but brown's the usual."

"Huh. Can I see it, after? I wanna add it to my pokedex."

"Sure thing," Danny agreed readily. "That thing is really cool," he added, not camouflaging his envy. "I wish I could've visited a pokemon professor."

"I was real lucky," Mackie agreed. "You can look at it if you wanna."

Danny shot him another surprised smile. "I definitely do." He nodded. "And not like I want my sister to know about what I'm trying to get her, but if she were here, she'd love it." They moved past a spot where the ceiling dipped and the floor slanted and into another more open room of the cave that had a shaft open overhead that let in a little bit of outside light.

"Does she also—hey!" Mackie elbowed Danny and pointed. A little pink thing was jumping around at the other side of the room, flinging itself at a Zubat that was attacking it. Pink, brown ears... "That's it, right?"

"Yes!" Danny scrambled in his bag for the apri-ball his Lotad was in, then hesitated. "What am I supposed to do about the Zubat?"

"Isn't that what I'm here for?" Mackie held up Luster's ball, ready to send her out.

Then, "Medi!!!" came a shout from much closer to them, and a white head popped out from behind a dip in the irregular wall. "Meditite!"

A second one appeared next to the first. "MediTITE!" it snapped, and both of them looked ready to attack.

"No!" Danny hissed at it, and when Mackie turned to look again at the Cleffa and the Zubat, the Zubat was flapping unevenly back towards the ceiling and the Cleffa was nowhere at all.

"Listen, at least we know it's there, huh?" Mackie told him. "One thing atta time. G'wan, Luster!" he opened her ball and she appeared, the buzz of her wings loud in the closed-in space.

"Marbles! Help me out!" Danny said, and the Lotad appeared, and hopped once, turning to face the foes.

"Quick Attack! The left one!" Mackie told Luster, like always, and she swerved off to turn and fly back at the Meditite on the left, as it eyed Luster carefully.

"Nature Power!" Danny told the Lotad, and she seemed to gather herself up. Without her even moving, Mackie felt vibrations through the ground, and then with rattling thuds, rocks landed on both Meditite at the same time. "Turns into Rock Slide," Danny said in satisfaction. "I love that one."

Luster hit the left Meditite and pulled up, and Mackie was frustrated to see it was utterly unaffected. "Try again, Luster, this time use Aerial Ace!"

Again the glint in the Meditite's eye, and again Luster's attack simply did not leave a scratch. Danny pulled off another Nature-Power-that-turned-into-Rock-Slide, and Mackie definitely like attacks that could hit two, in a double battle. But his own lack of any effect at all was frustrating him.

"Luster, come back a bit. We'll try something else!" he alerted her, and recalled her promptly, grabbing Bonnie's pokeball, and sending her out.

Or not.

"GLIGAR!" Stel yelped in terror, flattening himself against the floor against the sound of Marbles' Nature Power, and the sight of Marbles herself, along with the two Meditite. He whipped his tail against the cave floor, flinging sand at one of the Meditite, and Mackie fumbled with the ball for a moment before managing to recall him, his heart racing at the mistake. He was going to have to do something to be able to tell the pokeballs apart by feel, or this might happen again, and Stel would never try to battle at all.

"Swaaa!!" Bonnie called out, when Mackie finally got her out.

"Bonnie! Sing! Left!" If he could stop the damn things from protecting themselves, this would go much better.

"Marbles, Astonish on the left!" Danny said immediately after, and Mackie wondered why he'd stop with the Nature Power, but Marbles lunged at the Meditite, and it flinched back. And Bonnie swooped down to serenade it, while its attention was elsewhere. Its eyes blinked closed, and it slumped back, reclining against the cave wall.

The other Meditite glowered out at both its opponents, and crossed its arms, closing its eyes briefly to summon up a circle of greenish glowing spheres. They coalesced and shot out at Marbles, and Mackie heard Danny gasp, then let out his breath.

"What?" he asked hurriedly.

"That was Hidden Power. You never know that it'll be, not from looking at it. Could be fire or ice or dragon or anything."

"So what was it there?"

"I dunno, but it wasn't very effective, and that's all I care about. Marbles! Nature Power again! Keep it up!"

"Bonnie! Peck on the left!" He watched, willing it to stay asleep, and when its relaxed doze slumped even further into a proper KO, Mackie sent her against the other one instead, which had been facing down Marbles all this time.

"Absorb," Danny urged Marbles, and she did, bearing down on the tired-looking Meditite a few steps before bracing herself and pulling a green glow from it right through the air into herself. She bounced on her feet, awaiting the next command. "Keep absorbing!" Danny told her. "Get as much as you can before it's over!"

It wouldn't be too long now, Mackie realized, and had a thought. "Bonnie! Good girl, c'mon in!" he recalled her, and this time took a few real seconds to look and choose the ball of his newest team member.

"Tyrogue! Show me your stuff!" he said, and the Tyrogue appeared, as Mackie had been almost sure he would, in a flexed-arm showing-off pose. Mackie heard Danny snort a laugh next to him. "Oh, I know, I know," Mackie assured him.

"Tyyy!!" The Tyrogue announced proudly, turning one way and another, too fast, and nearly tripped over his own feet. As his arms were waving to keep his balance, Mackie pointed at the remaining Meditite, hoping the Tyrogue could get in before the Meditite pulled out a Confusion.

"Show that Meditite how super you are!" he shouted. "Tackle it! Bring it down!"

"You sound like a colosseum announcer," Danny muttered.

"Whatever works," Mackie replied.

The Tyrogue slapped his hands together, then pulled them back in fists, leaned forward, and charged. He bowled into the Meditite and knocked them both sprawling together.

Marbles paused. "Lotad!" she called out, and the Tyrogue picked himself up and crossed his arms smugly, nodding as if to an invisible audience.

"I guess it does work," Danny looked at Mackie. "And hey, maybe you should put him in contests, too," he added.

Mackie blinked. He'd never thought of that.

"Good job, Tyrogue," Mackie told the posing pokemon, and waited until he'd strutted back towards Mackie for a rub on the head and a congratulatory fistbump before recalling him.

"You have a whole safari with you," Danny said, looking a little amazed, even though Mackie had told him all about them already. But seeing them was a bit different, Mackie guessed.

"Well, I wanna do the whole League challenge," Mackie shrugged. "Gotta get a whole team. So far they mostly work good together, too."

"I hope the Gligar isn't too mad at you," Danny said sympathetically.

"Yeah..." Mackie held Stel's pokeball up, rubbing it a little with his thumb. He half-wanted to bring him out now and at least give him a hug and say sorry, but he thought it might be best to leave it till later. "He's tough, I know part of him is, but I didn't wanna dump him in just like that." He tucked the ball away again. "But let's go on," he said, "that little Cleffa's right on ahead, maybe."

"Maybe," agreed Danny. "If the noise didn't scare it off."

"It beat up that Zubat, remember?" Mackie reminded him, and Danny looked heartened.

The room pinched in on the far side to make a natural doorway into yet another area, this one damper than where they'd just been, with the smell of water in the air and shiny wet walls, even though Mackie couldn't see a pool or anything like it. Then they crossed over a narrow crack, and Mackie saw a faint glint of moving water far below, that showed just how deep it went. Far enough down to hit groundwater, it looked like. He shuddered slightly, imagining if the crack was wider, wide enough to fall into and get stuck, or fall all the way... ugh. He shook himself, hard.

He was okay. He was. But he definitely didn't like caves, and was glad he was in here with someone else.

"Cleffa, cleffa..." he heard faintly, and looked at Danny, who looked back with wide eyes. They'd both heard it. "Cleffa..." came the quiet little sing-song again.

Then, bounding down from somewhere above, the little pink pokemon landed in front of them. "Cleffa!" it called out, hopping once. It didn't look too concerned, or like it was about to run.

"Uh... Marbles?" Danny sent her out, and she looked up at him for a moment, until she noticed the Cleffa.

"Lotad! Lo-lo-lo-lotad!" she chirruped, and the Cleffa hopped again and waved its little arms.

Then its expression turned serious, and Marbles went into a ready stance as well.

Mackie looked at Danny, who grinned at him, while biting his lip at the same time. No point in counting Starlies before they hatched, but...

"Absorb!" Danny ordered her, and she readied herself as the Cleffa flung itself forward in a Pound.

It was up to Danny now. Mackie could onlywatch.

*

They came out the other end of the cave, to Mackie's great relief, and he turned his face up to the sky for a second, even though it was overcast just at this moment, with the sun behind one of the clouds. He didn't care, they were outside. He took a great huge breath of non-cave air to go along with the feel of wind and sky.

"Oh..." Danny said, and Mackie sighed happily and looked at him. "You didn't like it in there, did you?"

"Not really," Mackie said, "but it's not some big ol' phobia or nothing," he assured Danny. And that was true, at least when he had someone with him. "I'm from farming country, is all. I like open air."

"Well. Thank you," Danny said again, and Mackie waved it off with an eyeroll. That was probably the thirtieth time, now. At this rate it'd be a hundred when they actually got to town.

"Wasn't nothing," Mackie told him firmly. "Saw some new pokemon, won a battle, it was a good time."

"Yeah," Danny agreed, turning over the pink apri-ball in his hands. Mackie'd seen those at the Marts, and it seemed they worked. He thought it was nice that the colour matched the pokemon it held, without even having to paint it.

"Ally likes pink, and she likes things to match," Danny had said to him, after he'd caught the Cleffa. Mackie knew the feeling. Not about the pink--about the matching.

"Oh say," Mackie remembered suddenly. "Can I see that Swinub of yours? For my pokedex?"

"Absolutely," Danny said. He looked down at Marbles. "Back in for a little bit, okay?" he told her, and recalled her."

"Huh?" Mackie said. "Why?"

"Oh... they don't get along," Danny shrugged one shoulder unhappily. "At all," he added, face turning gloomy.

"Oh... huh." Mackie had never thought of that. He'd had all his pokemon out together a bunch of times. Even the little Tyrogue had seen everyone at once on the last couple of rests Mackie had taken on the uphill path. Maybe some were kinda... jealous, like Luster didn't seem to think the Tyrogue's showing-off poses was so funny, like Mackie did, but he figured that was 'cause she like to show off too.

Even the Stantler, that he himself didn't like so much, they had gotten along with her.

"Well, here we go. Ziggy?" Danny opened the ball, and Mackie watched as the red light formed into a little brown pile of striped fur with a nose on one end.

"That is darn cute," Mackie declared, and crouched down. "Hey there, titch. Yer just a little sneeze of a thing, ain't ya?"

"Swiii!!" it squealed. It zipped towards him faster than he ever would have thought possible, and butted up against his legs, rearing up to plant two tiny feet against him. "Swiii!!" it squealed emphatically, little squinty eyes hardly even visible in all its dense fur.

"What's goin' on?" Mackie asked it.

"Do you have food in your pockets?" Danny chuckled.

"Uh, yeah."

"Well, that'd be why."

"Ah-huh," Mackie nodded. "Snack, little thing?" he inquired, and dug the last of the pokemon food out of his pocket. He picked out the pieces that weren't lint-covered, and held them out, tossing the rest off to the side.

The Swinub gobbled down what he gave it by hand, and then dashed off to root around for the bits he'd thrown away.

"Wow," Mackie laughed. "I guess it's gotta eat to keep up that energy." He was gratified, though, that when it was done rooting around for the last bits, it returned to lean fondly against his ankles, making a happy-sounding rumble.

He pulled out his pokedex to get the Swinub entry, then handed it over to Danny, who pored over it while walking, until Mackie convinced him to park himself while he studied it. "This is amazing," he told Mackie absently. "I want one. I hope they start making them for everyone." They found a grassy patch off the path, and sat down.

"I guess we're test driving them for that," Mackie said, then let Danny look at it in peace, only chiming in when Danny asked him what button to press.

"Okay, c'mon out guys," he said, and laid out all the balls, pressing the buttons one after other.

"Swaaa!" Bonnie announced happily, and took to the air. Luster was quick to follow. If Mackie wasn't slightly wrung out from the cave, he'd have busted out the kite, but that would have to wait.

"Ty!!" the Tyrogue announced his arrival. Mackie gave him what was rapidly becoming the "fistbump of awesomeness-acknowledgment", and then, to Mackie's amusement, the Tyrogue flopped down to sprawl back and close his eyes, yawning hugely before dropping off in to a doze.

"Gli!" Stel was next, and looked at him with wide eyes before flinging himself against Mackie for a hug. Phew. Not angry, then.

"You were brave!" Mackie told him. "You did a Sand-attack! I saw it!" He hugged him tight.

The Stantler was last, and she ducked her head at him in greeting before moving off to browse in the grass.

The Swinub scurried up to her, moving around her feet, and she mostly ignored it, only pushing it out of the way when it got in the way of her grazing.

Next, the Tyrogue got a firm nudge in the side, then another, until he woke from his nap. The Swinub turned in a circle, and the Tyrogue reached over to grab it right round the middle and lift. Squeaking, the Swinub wriggled in his grip until he let go... and then butted up against him, asking for more. The Tyrogue obliged happily, making a show of lifting it and hauling it to and fro.

"Hey, what's that? A Stantler?" Danny had looked up from the pokedex. "You didn't say you had one."

"Oh, well." Mackie didn't want to say he'd forgotten, but... when it came to discussing his pokemon, she just hadn't been grouped in with everyone else, in his mind. "She... I caught her at a Capturing Contest in Eterna. She's in great health, and she's a good battler. Very confident."

"I'll say," Danny was watching her graze. "Look at her lines. She knows Stomp, right?"

"Yeah."

"And with those hooves..." Danny trailed off, and shook his head admiringly, then returned to the pokedex.

Mackie looked at the Swinub playing with his Tyrogue, and looked at Danny.

When he was done looking over the pokedex, maybe... maybe Mackie could see if he was willing to trade.

Broadway - Awesome post, good deed for Mackie! And it seems like Danny's likin' that Stantler, hm?

Kenny and Jerry entered the cave to find that is had a path that was lit by hanging lights. Unlike last time Chewy was not afraid to stay out of Kenny's bag. Kenny looked up at Chewy and smiled to see his buddy got over her fear. Jerry had Corey walking next to him and he seemed determined to find something.

"Jerry are you looking for something?" Kenny asked wondering why they both were looking all around the tunnel.

"Rumor has it that aron live in these caves. So I am trying to find one because they evolve into Aggron and a quite powerful." Jerry replied not even taking a glance at Kenny because he was afraid he might miss his catch.

"Aggron huh?" Kenny said pulling out his pokedex and he typed in the pokemon's name. While the pokedex searched its database for the pokemon Kenny entered, Chewy jumped off Kenny's head and started to help Jerry look for an aron. The pokedex made a loud ping that traveled through the cave when it finally began to display his results.

"Aggron the iron armor pokemon. This pokemon feeds on iron that resides in the area." Kenny read aloud as the text appeared on the screen. "Wow they are pretty impressive." Kenny continued reading the other little details the pokedex brought up about the pokemon.

"Yeah they are that's why I want one."

Kenny and Jerry continued deeper into the mountain and found many small cute and medium sized tough looking pokemon running across the ground. Chewy was still helping look for aron and trying to keep in front of Jerry and Corey. Chewy kept her pace up and not watching where she was going she ran into a hard metal like wall.

"Aron Ar ar ron ron!" The thing yelled staring down Chewy. Not backing down Chewy began to spark her cheeks. Corey stepped in front of Chewy wanting to take this pokemon on for his master. The aron charged at Corey and he just threw up a protect knocking the pokemon back.

"Corey use water gun." Corey shot high pressured water from his mouth at the pokemon. The aron's paw began to glow a bright white and it stuck its paw out and deflected the attack away from its body. Kenny was amazed that aron knew how to protect itself from the attack. Watching the Aron cut through the water gave Kenny an idea on how to beat Jerry.

"Tough guy huh?" Jerry said nodding at Corey then he turned around and jumped in the air. Corey's fist began to glow a faint blue and then after about 5 seconds it was a bright blue. Corey punched the aron into the ground and suddenly it was struggling to get up from the ground. Corey jumped away from the injured pokemon as Jerry tossed an apriball at the pokemon. It took no time for the ball to stop shaking. Jerry confidently walked over to the ball and picked it up.

Soon after Jerry picked up his apriball a small yellow bell like pokemon appeared. The pokemon ran up to Kenny and hugged him. Kenny was confused as to why the pokemon was hugging him. Taking the pokemon and holding it out, Kenny began to turn it around to see what it was.

"That is a Chingling. It is a psychic pokemon." Jerry said looking at Kenny holding to pokemon in his hands. Kenny nodded and placed the Chingling on the ground and waved bye to it as he tried to catch up to Jerry before he was left. The bell pokemon got upset and stormed after Kenny. Further into the mountain they went when a small brown eared pink ball of fluff walked past Kenny. The pokemon smiled at Kenny and then suddenly it was surrounded by a blue aura. The pokemon began floating around the room until it was sent flying down deeper into the cave. Kenny thought that the pokemon used some sort of attack and thought nothing more about it.

"Chingling lingling!" The pokemon said angrily. It formed an aura around Kenny and threw him to the ground. Kenny tried to get up but the pokemon covered him with a blue aura and picked him up to the ceiling and then released him letting Kenny drop to the ground. He realized that it was the Chingling's doing after being attacked like that.

"Chewy thundershock quick!" Kenny yelled out to his pokemon. Chewy quickly turned around to see her trainer was on the ground and immediately ran towards him. Chewy released a thundershock at the Chingling not to hurt it but to scare it away. The Chingling was not impressed by the attack. The pokemon charged at Chewy and then used the ribbon on the back of its head to wrap her up.

"Use thundershock Chewy to break free." Kenny said getting up from the ground. Chewy listened and released an electric jolt at the Chingling holding tight to her body. Chingling let out an ear piercing scream in pain as it let go of the Pikachu and fell to the ground. Kenny felt sorry for the poor little pokemon and decided to catch it.

"Okay Chewy use sweet kiss and then follow it with a thundershock." Chewy ran over to the pokemon that was still on the ground and gave it a kiss on its cheek and then shocked it as the kiss landed. This time the pokemon did not let out a scream and just sat up and began crying. Kenny could not stand to see the pokemon cry and threw a pokeball at it. The ball hit the pokemon and engulfed it into a red light. The ball landed on the ground and it began to shake back and forward.

"Hey look Kenny, I can see the light at the end of the cave we are right there." Jerry yelled excited to be able to finally heal his new pokemon.

Once making it to the end of the town, Bryce saw a sign that pointed toward the next route. According to the sign, he was heading to Mt. Coronet and then, it was on to Celestic Town. He couldn't wait to see what gym and events this town had.

Route 211 was more quiet than useful. He couldn't see any Pokémon at all, save for a few. And even those Pokémon were scarce. Besides, he thought, it's about time I stopped capturing Pokémon and start training the ones that I do have. He didn't want to end up in the same situation as with his battle with Roseanna. He'd lucked out at that one. The only thing that helped him win was his type advantage, and even then, it had been a close battle.

He continued walking down the rocky road. There were little trees. He didn't mind though. Trees tended to give off this creepy and lonely atmosphere. He saw in the distance where there was a small stream. A log reached from one side of the stream to the other. It was kind of deep. He gulped as he approached the bridge. After collecting all of his nerves, he got onto the log and inched one by one down the bridge. Don't look down, he thought. The water seemed SO far down. He continued to move down the makeshift bridge when he noticed something. Mankey wasn't there. Where was Mankey? He wondered.

"Oh, Mankey is so cute!" he heard someone say. Oh great, he thought, just when I'm at the end of the bridge, I have to go back. He slowly turned back around.

"Mankey, get back down here and stop fooling around!" He called out. That little monkey was causing him more trouble than he'd bargained for.

"What's that? Is that your owner calling you?" the voice asked. The owner of the voice turned around and looked at Bryce. "Oh, is this your Pokémon?" Bryce nodded his head. The girl frowned. "You should know better than to leave your Pokémon alone like that. I thought it was a wild Pokémon. I was just about to capture it." Bryce was confused. What was it about him that people were always lecturing him? Did he look like the kind of person who enjoys lectures? He slowed eased back across the bridge, toward Mankey and the girl.

"Umm, little girl, I really have to get to the other side over there, and I'd appreciate it if you'd leave my Pokémon alone."

"How dare you!" the little girl exclaimed. Obviously, she was offended for some reason. "I'm not a little girl! I'm twelve years old and I have some cute little Pokémon with me too." Bryce grinned. This girl was actually kind of funny. "What are you laughing at? I'll show them to you if you weren't so mean." Whatever, Bryce thought. He turned around and walked toward the bridge again.

"Come on Mankey." Mankey followed up behind him.

"Hey, I challenge you to a battle!"

"No thanks, little girl. I don't have time to battle." He continued to walk towards the bridge.

"You're just chicken. Chicken! Chicken! Chicken!" The girl continuously called Bryce a chicken until he had no choice but to let her battle him.

"Fine, I'll battle, but I'm not going easy on you just because you're a little girl."

"I'm not a little girl!" She whined as she threw out her Pokémon. She threw out a brown Pokémon. It looked like it only had one leg. "Hoot, hoot, hoot!" the Pokémon said. Bryce wondered what this Pokémon was when his Pokedex beeped. The screen on the Pokedex read:

Hoothoot, the owl Pokémon. It switches its standing foot so quickly, it can't be seen. It cries at the same time every day.

"Alright then, I'll take you down with, Shinx!" He threw the Pokémon out. "Shinx, use charge!" Shinx began to collect electric within its fur.

"Noctowl, use peck!" Noctowl pecked the Pokémon, but it didn't have much of an effect on the Pokémon.

"Ha, you fell right into my trap!" Bryce was really confident. He planned to zap that silly bird Pokémon. "Shinx, use Spark!" Shinx looked at him as if to say, what are you talking about? She turned around at her clueless trainer. What was he talking about? What was spark? Bryce was just as confused. Why didn't it use the attack? He saw his Pokedex had changed screens. It showed Shinx's moveset. There was no Spark anywhere to be found. "GAH! I could have sworn that you learned spark!" Shinx shook her head from side to side. What a shame, she thought.

The little girl stood there dumbstruck. What was going on? Where was this trap he was talking about? There was a brief moment of silence. Finally, she gave her command. "That's pathetic! I thought you had me there! Hoothoot, let's get this over with so that we can have lunch, use Hypnosis! And then use Tackle!" Hoothoot stared at Shinx and began to emit spirals. Shinx fell into a trance and went to sleep.

"No Shinx, get up! What are you doing?" The Shinx snored happily. Perhaps she was having a nice dream. The girl's Hoothoot began to charge at the sleeping Shinx. Right before it could land a hit, Bryce recalled his Pokémon.

"How, what gives, you can't just recall a Pokémon in the middle of the battle?"

"Sorry little girl. But I was just warming up. Now, you will see how I really battle!" He threw out another Poke Ball. This time, Ponyta came out. Maybe she'll listen now that he had a new badge.

"Oh, I like the Ponyta! But still, Hoothoot, use uproar!" Hoothoot began to shriek and thrash about. It created lots of noise. Nearby Pokémon began to run away from where the trainers were. It landed a hit on Ponyta, who growled at the Pokémon.

"Use ember!" Ponyta shot some flames at the Pokémon. The flames made a direct hit. Hoothoot fell to the ground.

"Hoothoot, use Hypnosis so that it can't hurt you." The Hoothoot didn't listen to the trainer. It continued to use Uproar and hit Ponyta again. This time, it caused more harm that before.

"Uproar last for at least three turns," Bryce said. "You can't just cut it off in the middle of the attack. Ponyta, use ember again." The fire horse Pokémon continued to shoot small flames at the Hoothoot. This time, the attack hit the Hoothoot and knocked it unconscious. The girl returned her Pokémon.

"Well, you managed to beat Hoothoot, but Igglybuff won't be so easy to beat." The Poke Ball that she threw out contained a small pink Pokémon that was shaped like a balloon.

"I think I just may have something to beat that." Bryce recalled Ponyta and let Mankey fight.

"Oh, the cute little Mankey. It won't beat my Igglybuff. Igglybuff, use Pound!" The Igglybuff ran up to Mankey and bashed him with one of its hands. It barely hurt Mankey.

"Mankey, counter with Revenge." Mankey hit the Pokémon and did double the damage that Igglybuff had inflicted on him. Igglybuff flew back and cried in pain.

"Hey, you can't hit my cute little Igglybuff like that! Igglybuff, use sing!" Igglybuff began to sing a soothing melody that almost put Bryce to sleep. Before he knew it, Mankey had fallen asleep. "Ha! That's what you get!"

"Mankey, wake up. You can't fall asleep in the middle of a battle. This is no time for sleeping." After a while of pleading with Mankey to wake up, he recalled him to his Poke Ball. He had to think of a way to stop that Pokémon from singing. He threw out his black Apri Ball from the contests. Out came Roselia.

"Roselia, use Stun Spore!" Roselia released some pollen that paralyzed the Igglybuff on contact.

"What did you do to my Pokémon!?" the girl cried.

"You'll see soon enough, he said. Next he recalled his Pokémon again. And threw out another Poke Ball. Surskit popped out of the Poke Ball.

"Eww, get that disgusting thing away from me!" At this comment, Surskit growled.

"It'll be over soon. Trust me. Surskit, use Bubble!" Surskit blew a small stream of Bubbles at the Pokémon. They hit Pokémon hard. "Your turn," Bryce said, feeling confident.

"Igglybuff, use sing!" The Pokémon began to sing.

"Surskit, use Quick Attack." The bug Pokémon hit the singing Pokémon before it could finish singing. The Pokémon was knocked back. "Now, use Bubble again." The Pokémon once again blew a stream of bubbles at the Pokémon. The Igglybuff was knocked unconscious.

"Noooo!" The girl said. "How could you do that to a helpless baby Pokémon?"

"Well, I won. Can I go now?"

"Fine," the little girl said, and began to cry. Bryce felt awkward at making a little girl cry.

"Hey, you fought well," Bryce said to comfort her. "Next time we battle, you might win." The key word was Might.

"Really? Thanks! My name is Ariel. Thanks for battling with me. Here's your reward." She gave him some money. "I hope to meet you again. Next time, I'll win!"

"Sure," Bryce said. He turned around and walked back towards the log bridge. Glad that's over, he thought as he crossed the log.

Rockman0 - Sounds like Bryce was having some issues with the sleep moves, great post.

Selene glanced at Jake silently, and recalled Tanana. "I thought your Nidoking was completely amazing, Jakey," she teased, smirking when she saw his eyes narrow. "It's only average. If it didn't know thunderbolt, Tanana would've had this battle in the bag. Just admit it. C'mon, you know it's true," Selene continued. Jake recalled Nidoking and then looked at her.

"It's not," he said bluntly. "Your Gastly just got lucky that the hypnotizing worked. If it hadn't have, I would have won in no time. So in short, you cheated."

"Cheated?" Selene squeaked. "Nuh uh! That's a completely legal thing to do. It isn't my fault you just don't know how to strategize."

They bickered. It was actually fairly reminiscent of the route just before Eterna City. They went to the Mountain Pass together, still arguing. Selene was too caught up in that to notice that the cave wasn't completely dark and to ponder why. Had she done that, however, she would have found that there were bright little lights along the walls. They continued to walk in a straight line, so it was a good thing the path didn't suddenly take a bunch of sharp curves. It might have been good that they didn't pay much attention though, because the little paths that led off of the main one were something that they would probably want to investigate, and that would lead to getting lost.

"I won, and you know it. That stupid Gastly cheated," Jake still retorted occasionally. They were both pouting.

"No. Gastly did not cheat," Selene insisted. "Maybe Nidoking cheated. How do I even know it can learn thunderbolt?"

"Because otherwise it wouldn't have learned it at all, dumbass," Jake retorted.

Selene opened her mouth to make a smart reply back, only to realize that he was right. So instead, Selene's face went pink. She huffed and looked the other way. Her ears felt rather hot. "Shut up," she grumbled. Jake smirked. Score one for the guy.

It was silent from then and to a period. This was mostly because Selene was thoroughly pouting. She hated it when she made bonehead moves that always made her "lose". They paused for a snack break because Jake got hungry, but Selene just grumbled to herself and kicked some spare rocks. While she was kicking them, she didn't realize that she had wandered off the apparent path. Selene paused at a funky looking rock. It was almost a metallic color. Selene then crouched down. She put her hands on the rock and tugged hard. It wouldn't budge. Damn that shiny rock. Selene growled under her breath and tugged harder. The rock still wouldn't budge! Selene huffed. She then firmly planted her feet on two boulders it was stuck between. Mentally bracing herself, Selene pulled as hard as she could.

The rock budged, and Selene found herself staring at the ceiling of the cave. There was a very, very heavy lump in her hands. She smirked and looked at the shiny rock. Selene frowned. The shiny rock had little black holes. And it was shaped really funny. It was almost like it...had...feet. Selene blinked slowly. That was when two bright blue eyes popped open and stared her in the face. Selene's eyes went very wide. The Pokemon snorted angrily and Selene squeaked and dropped it. The Pokemon then decided that it didn't like her, and began to charge.

"NO! BAD SHINY ROCK!" Selene squeaked as she scrambled to her feet and began to run away. The shiny rock thing was still hot in pursuit. Selene ended up tripping over a smaller rock and falling on the ground, successfully skinning her palms and knees in the process. She cursed, and then quickly brought out Kenai without another thought. He snarled, stopping the shiny rock dead in its tracks. The little thing actually had the nerve to growl back! Selene's eyes narrowed. "Kenai, let's show Mr. Shiny Rock a lesson. Use ember!" That shiny rock thing had to be a steel Pokemon, didn't it? Right. So obviously ember would be very helpful.

As Kenai shot his fire towards the slower Aron (or shiny rock), Selene heard footsteps approaching. Seconds later, Jake appeared behind her. He looked at the wild Aron and then down to Selene. He crouched and held out his hand, which she took. Jake made a face when he noticed she was bleeding. Jake turned her hand over and was examining it. Selene grumbled to him and tried to push him away, saying something about needing to help Kenai out. Jake glanced over at her Growlithe and ordered another ember. Selene's eyes went wide as she felt the heat on her back. Kenai had actually listened to that fathead! Selene pouted.

"Oh yeah? No one commands my Pokemon like that!" Selene declared. "Kenai, use flame wheel!"

"No. Use ember!" Jake called.

"Flame wheel," Selene hissed.

"Em. Ber."

"Flame. Wheel."

Kenai glanced over at them with a very, very confused look on his face. He whined, his fluffy ears flattening to his head. That was when Aron slammed into him in a headbutt attack. The wild Pokemon snorted successfully and trotted back. Then he proceeded to kick mud into Kenai's face with a mud slap attack. Selene's eyes narrowed up at Jake.

"Stop confusing my Pokemon, you jerkface. Kenai needs a real trainer. Besides, he's MY Pokemon."

"So? You're obviously incapable of battling. You have wounds," Jake pointed out.

"I have scrapes, Jake. I'm not bleeding to death on a table in the ER. Dur."

Jake flinched almost visibly. Suddenly Selene's hands slipped through his fingers and landed with a soft thud at her side. Jake blinked suddenly, and then grinned. "Yeah, of course. My bad."

Selene's eyebrows furrowed. She opened her mouth to ask what the heck was wrong with him, when she heard Kenai whimper. Selene whipped around, suddenly remembering that Kenai was still battling and that she'd promised not to let him get that badly hurt again. She quickly skimmed over her Pokemon's appearance. He wasn't that bad of condition, but Selene partially figured that was because he seemed to be a bit stronger than the obnoxious Aron. Selene snickered to herself. Maybe she was the obnoxious one. She had dragged the little shiny rock out of his spot after all.

"Alright Kenai, let's finish it off. Flame wheel!"

Kenai's body was suddenly engulfed with fire as he charged. Aron attempted a sideways dodge, but that didn't go very well. Kenai slammed into the little guy, and sent him tumbling. Aron hit a boulder and fell. Selene grabbed a Pokeball from her bag and tossed it. The ball engulfed the Pokemon, and it slowly began to shake.

Fen - Awesome post, I'm really starting to like Jake.

Congratulations, Selene caught a lv. 13 male Aron with an Egg Move!

Koroc - Ah, I can't believe I did that, it was a great post, I like the Aron adventure, definitely adds something to the post.

Congratulation, Chewy grew to lv. 23 and learned Slam!

Sara looked around herself tensely as she walked deeper and deeper down the tunnel. Destiny was also looking about tensely, waiting to see if anything would pop out. So far, they had been able to go into the cave uninterrupted. But both knew that it wouldn't last much longer. Of course, thinking that, Sara stopped herself and reached into her pack, soon taking out the Apri ball that now held her Vulpix.

"Guess we might as well let her out, just to see what we have," Sara said, to which the Togekiss nodded in agreement. Pressing the button, the ball snapped open and, in a flash of light, a Vulpix appeared before them. It slowly opened her eyes and, seeming confused as to who Sara was, started to look around. When she didn't see what she wanted to see, she started to whimper.

"Toge…" Destiny said and slowly floated down to the Vulpix, nudging her gently and saying something in the Pokemon speech. The Vulpix's eyes widen at what the Jubilee Pokemon said to her and then started to whimper again.

"Hey, it's okay little girl," Sara said bending down so that she was more at the fox's level. "I know this must be a shock to you, but I'm going to take very good care of ya. You'll see, Flare."

"Vul…" Flare said, looking up at her new trainer who smiled back at her. She stared at the girl for a little bit before looking at the ground.

"Well, we will probably have to train you as well," Sara said as she stood up, taking out her Pokedex and aiming it at Flare. After reading the information about Vulpixes, she checked to see what level and moves she knew. What the trainer read nearly made her face vault. Level 4! With the only two moves that she knew being Ember and Tail Whip. Had that boy trained this Pokemon at all!!

"No matter…" Sara said with a sigh as she put the Pokedex away. "I'll just have to make sure that you're always fighting with at least one other of my Pokemon until you are stronger…"

"Togekiss!" Destiny shouted just as a few shadows appeared on the walls. Sara spun around gasped when she saw a Zubat, a Meditite and a Chingling coming out to confront the trainer and her party.

"Guess it was too much to hope that we would be able to get through this thing with out too much trouble," Sara muttered before reaching into her pack and talking out an Apri ball. "Come out, we need your help, Angela!"

Sara threw the ball up and, in a flash of light, the Shuppet appeared. She looked around herself and, when she saw the wild Pokemon, growled lowly at them. But then something seemed to cross the ghost's mind and she turned around timidly at her trainer. The girl just smiled sadly at her starter.

"Look, don't worry about it too much Anggy," Sara said. "I think you got the message, just make sure you don't do that again."

"Shup…" Angela said with a small nod and turned to face the wild Pokemon once more.

"Toge," Destiny said, nudging the ghost softly. At first, Angela was startled by the sudden presence of the Jubilee Pokemon, but soon realizes that it meant her no harm. The Puppet just muttered something back and continued to glare at the Pokemon.

"Right, first off, Angela, use Screech!" Sara ordered. "Then Destiny, use Magical Leaf on the Meditite! Flare, use Ember on the Zubat!"

Angela nodded again before letting out her familiar yet disorienting screech. All three of the wild Pokemon cried out in pain and did their best to cover their ears. Destiny took this time to summon the magical leaves and shoot them at the Meditite, causing it to cry out in more pain. Flare was a bit disoriented herself, having never had to deal with a sound like that before. But it wasn't as bad for her as it was for the wild ones and soon recovered. She then opened her mouth and launched small fire balls at the Zubat, making it just grunt slightly.

The Bat Pokemon was the first to recover and it started to fly towards the fox, it's mouth open for a bite attack.

Sara shouted, "Angela, quick, Night Shade on the Zubat!!"

Just before the Zubat would had clamped it's fangs on the Vulpix, a purple aura was shot at it, making it crashing into the wall. Flare looked over at the ghost and smiled her thanks. However she then cried out as the Meditite recovered and launched a blast of psychic energy at the ghost. Sara also noticed but she couldn't say anything much before the blast hit Angela, knocking her back a bit.

"Well isn't that just great," the girl muttered before shout, "Angela, Payback on the Meditite! Destiny, Sweet Kiss on the Chingling! Flare, Ember again on the Zubat!"

All three of her Pokemon nodded before rushing forward, to continue their attacks. Angela rammed her darkness covered horn at the Meditite, causing it to cry out in pain and slam onto the ground. The ghost then whacked it with her body in a Knock Off attack. Destiny moved closer to her target and quickly kissed it, causing the bell to start to dance around dizzily. Flare once again opened her mouth and launched a few little balls of fire, making the bat grunt in pain again.

The Meditite slowly got back up and, after glaring at Angela, sent another Confusion attack at her. The ghost was able to dodge this and hit back with a Nightshade, knocking the fighting type out. The Zubat, enraged even more then before, charged once more at the fox. This time, Destiny was able to deter it by launching her magical leaves at the bat, knocking it away from Flare.
The Vulpix, not wanting the Zubat to come at her again, once again shot an Ember attack at the Bat Pokemon. It didn't do too much more damage, but the attack brought it's health down to the danger point.

"Good going there guys!" Sara called out to her Pokemon. "Okay Flare, use another Ember attack on that Zubat! That should finish it off! Destiny, yet another Magical Leaf on that Chingling! Angela, use a Payback on it!"

Again, all three nodded, ready to do as their trainer asked. Flare was the first, launching more fire balls at the Bat Pokemon. The first round didn't defeat it, but the fox launched a second round and that did the Zubat in. Then Destiny and Angela launched their attacks at the small Psychic type. Sadly, the poor Chingling just didn't have the defense or the health to survive both attacks coming at it. So, it too fainted.

"Alright! Nice going guys!" Sara said with a side grin and took out an Apri ball. "Thanks a lot for your help Angela, if we need you again I'll be sure to call you out."

"Shuppet!" Angela called out as she was returned to her ball.

Sara smiled once more and looked over to her Togekiss and Vulpix. "Well, lets keep going," the trainer said before continuing to walk down the tunnel, her two newest Pokemon behind her.

Once again, nothing seemed to happen at first when they continued to walk. Sara was tense at first, thinking that anything would pop out around the next rock. But, as everything remained peaceful, the trainer started to find herself relax. This relaxation grew as she saw light up ahead. The girl smiled to herself and started to run towards the light when she was once again stopped by a few Pokemon. One was another Zubat, another was a Cleffa and the last one looked like a small steel/rock creature.

Cursing, Sara quickly took out her Pokedex and a Pokeball. She scanned the steel/rock creature, finding it was Pokemon called an 'Aron' before quickly putting the 'des away and throwing the ball up. The Pokeball opened up and, once again, Lee appeared in a flash of light. The Feeling Pokemon just grunted at the few Pokemon in front of him and got into a battle position, Destiny and Flare doing the same thing beside him.

"Alright, Lee; use Confusion on the Zubat! Destiny, Sweet Kiss the Clefa! Flare, use Ember on the Aron!"

All three nodded before charging at the wild Pokemon. Lee acted first and quickly sent the psychic blast at the Zubat, making it screech loudly. Flare then shoot her little balls of fire at Aron, making it squeak in more fright then actual pain. Destiny closed in on the Cleffa and kissed it, making the Cleffa giggle and jump around randomly.

The Aron recovered first and it suddenly seemed to shine as it used a Harden attack, raising it's defense. The Zubat then seemed to glare at Lee before shooting a kind of stinger at it, using a Leach Life at it. Lee cried out in pain as some of his life energy was given over to the bat. The Psychic type glared at the Zubat before crying out as he used another Confusion attack. This knocked the Bat Pokemon against a wall and made it fall to the ground, knocked out.

"Nice going Lee," Sara said with a nod. "Now, Destiny, use your Sweet Kiss on the Aron. Lee, Confusion on the Cleffa. Flare, Ember on the Aron!"

Destiny, this time, was the first to act. She flew over to the Iron Armor Pokemon and kissed it nicely. The Aron blushed before trying to walk around on wobbly legs. It cried out once more when Flare shot some more fire balls at it. Lee shot his confusion blasts at the Cleffa, making it cry out as it was thrown away a bit.

However, this seemed to knock the Star Shaped Pokemon back into it's senses. Shaking its head, the Cleffa glared first at Lee, then at Destiny. It then jumped at the Togekiss and used a Pound attack, causing the Jubilee Pokemon to cry out.

"Lee, another Confusion!" Sara shouted. "Destiny, Magical Leaf on the Aron! Flare, Ember on the same Pokemon!"

"Ralts," Lee said, before having the psychic aura surround himself and, soon enough, the Cleffa. He ten started to move the small Normal Type around and bash it against walls. Flare then used yet another Ember attack on the Aron, making it cry out more in pain. Destiny then used her Magical Leaf attack on the Iron Armor Pokemon. This knocked the Aron some distance and it was limp when it hit the ground.

Lee broke the psychic connect between himself and the Cleffa…before sending another burst of energy at the Star Shaped Pokemon. The Cleffa bounced on the ground a couple times before finally stopping. Sara sighed to herself but she did not feel like addressing the Ralt's violence issues right then and there. Instead, she returned him to his ball and swore that she would talk to him about it in the next town.

"Nice going guys, ya did great," Sara said, smiling as both Destiny and Flare cried out happily. "Now, we better get going before more Pokemon come out to attack us."

Both nodded and they all quickly got out of the tunnel and onto the next town in their Pokemon Journey.

Charzeon - Awesome post, she had quite some trouble with that tunnel didn't she?

Congratulations, Flare grew to lv. 9 and learned Roar!
Congratulations, Angela grew to lv. 20 and learned Shadow Sneak!
Congratulations, Destiny grew to lv. 17!
Congratulations, Lee grew to lv. 18 and learned Lucky Chant!

Chapter 10
Celestic Town
'Chillax' post
Number of Posts: 1

Celestic Town is normally a very quiet town nestled closely in the mountains. It's an old-fashioned town, complete with big wooden houses and straw roofs. There's some ponds, and the whole town is made in a valley, with a big low point in the middle.
The moment you arrive, however, Celestic Town isn't the usual calm town it's meant to be. There's colourful banners everywhere and big arrows directed to the center of the town, its deepest point. There is the Celestic Fair being held, all big canvas tents and people trying to get possible costumer's attention. It's full of smells and people and general life. There's people and Pokémon who have crossed half the region to attend this fair, and you might have some problems finding a place to sleep. The Fair is a three-day event, but this is the last day meaning that the whole thing is at its height in events. Have fun, enter competitions, buy nice things or trade with other people. Anything goes!

Ferris Wheel

In the middle of all the commotion stands the enormous Ferris Wheel, and the only kind of ride there. The Wheel is big, with seats decorated with little Pokémon. It's a very old Ferris Wheel, mind you, and it tends to creak very unhealthily when it's turning. And it might be your imagination, but is it kind of swaying in the harsh winds? If that's not unsettling enough, the ride-master makes you sign a responsibility voucher before getting on… Do you really want to ride the Wheel that much?

Contests:

Pokémon Race.

The race is held at a very long patch of grass that is fenced off with a big perimeter. The race goes straight, then takes a sharp u-turn and goes straight back, and stretches almost from one side of the Fair to the other. The Pokémon will be up against 4 other contestants who will all start next to each other and try to get to the finish before the other ones do. There can be only one winner, foul play is discouraged but not prohibited as long as there are no real attacks involved.
Races are held at 11 o'clock, 2 o'clock and 5 o'clock
Prize: "Cool" TM

Pokémon Beauty Contest

It's not what you're thinking, you don't need any fancy ribbons for this, or dress up your Pokémon at all. This contest is for natural beauty. Is your Pokémon a natural at batting their eyes and looking gorgeous? Is it a born diva? Does it know how to act in front of a camera? Because if that is true, than this is the contest for you! All you have to do is make sure that your Pokémon can sit still and look pretty while the judges examine him/her. Be sure to groom your Pokémon well before entering, and it never hurts to bribe the judges…
Contest held at 12 o'clock, at 3 o'clock and at 6 o'clock.
Prize: "Beauty" TM.

Pokémon Costume Contest

This one is fairly straight-forward. There are three chests full of random costume pieces, you and your fellow contestants have 10 minutes to take your Pokémon and dress it up appropriately. Be sure to choose the right Pokémon for this! The cuter they are the better! Obviously, a cute little Vulpix is much preferred over a Gastly. The judges will look at the costumes as to how well they fit together, how much they suit the Pokémon and how said Pokémon carries the clothing.
Contests are held at 1 o'clock, 4 o'clock and 7 o'clock.
Prize: "Cute" TM

Pokémon Fitness Contest

In this Contest the judges will check the fitness of the Pokémon entered. The muscle development, growth and mental health get checked and also special things that the judges will look at. Things like that include the heat from the flames of a Ponyta or development of a Stantler's antlers just to give an example. The contest is mostly a physical examination of how well your Pokémon is doing and how much care and time you have given it. There is a lot to say from your creature's composure and the look in its eyes.
Contests are held at 2 o'clock, 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock
Prize: "Tough" TM

Pokémon Talent Contest

This contest is perfect for Pokémon with a hidden talent, something that no other Pokémon can. Is this something special and something that could wow the judges and rock their socks right off? Is it something that only few of its species can do, or is it actually quite common? Is it something your Pokémon enjoys doing too? These would be the questions to ask yourself before entering. The judges are quite hard when it comes to this contest, they want to do unique things. We all know that Chatot are quite adapt at mimicry, we don't need to see that. But if it could perfectly sing opera without missing a note, then we would be impressed. It is suggested that any talents to do with light will perform in the evening show.
Contest held at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
Prize: "Smart" TM

Walking out of Mt. Coronet Kenny turned around and hoped the Chilngling gets found by a good person. Jerry still quickly passing through the mountain path to the town nearby. Walking to the edge of the cliff Kenny and Jerry looked onto the small town. Seemed like there was some kind of party going on.

"Jerry we have to get down there." Kenny said with excitement releasing Tony and Sunny to go down with him.

"Okay." Jerry said running as fast as he could. Corey followed his trainer while Chewy held onto Kenny's hair.

"Welcome to the fair boys." Nurse Joy said standing outside of the town handing out flyers to everyone.

"Cool so what things are going around in the fair?" Jerry asked

"We have many contests going on. The Pokemon Race, which 4 trainers have their pokemon races each other and you want you pokemon to be the one that finishes first. We have pokemon races at 11 o'clock and then every three hours after that until 5 o'clock. We also have a Beauty contest, where 4 trainers show off their pokemon natural beauty. No make-up or dressing up just them. The Beauty contests are at 12 o'clock and then every three hours until 6 o'clock. The Costume Contest is where 4 trainers have ten minutes to dress up their pokemon to the theme chosen by the judges. The one that looks the best wins. The Costume Contests are at 1 o'clock and then every three hours until 7 o'clock. We also have a Fitness Contest where 4 trainers enter their pokemon and show off how naturally strong they are. We have a Fitness contest at 2 o'clock and then every three hours until 8 o'clock. Lastly we have a Talent Contest where 4 trainers show off their pokemon's hidden abilities. We have one at 3 o'clock and then every three hours until 9 o'clock."

"Wow there is a lot going on today." Kenny said

"Yes there is a lot going on, but you might want to drop by the Trainer's Square and meet other trainers and trade with them before all of the events kick off." Nurse Joy said smiling at the boys.

Kenny and Jerry heading into the fair and the first thing they noticed were the gigantic Ferris wheel in the center of the fair. Jerry went off to mingle with some of the other trainers at the square while Kenny looked up the Ferris wheel wanting to take a ride. The only thing that kept him from riding it was his fear of the wheel breaking. Kenny turned and headed to the square to meet up with Jerry.

"Hey young man I really like how your Buneary's coat shines." A woman with lots of jewels around her neck and on her coat said. Would you mind trading it for my Drifloon?" She continued calling out a small purple balloon pokemon.

"Ummmm. " Kenny looked down at Tony and saw that his eyes were dazzled by all the diamonds and jewels. "Okay we can do it. He seems to like your jewels." Kenny said smiling know Tony would be happy.

"Okay then its settled. Drifloon this is going to be your new trainer. Okay?" The drifloon nodded and then floated over to Kenny.

"Tony this lady will be your new trainer so do everything she says." Tony looked up at Kenny and smiled as he hopped over to the lady ready to hold one of those jewels.

"Ah that's a cute Bunny." The woman said handing him one of the rubies on her neck. Tony started gnawing on the ruby and hopped next to his new trainer.

Kenny turned to look at his new Drifloon and made a funny looking face while staring into the air. "I think I will call you Willy. Yeah Willy sounds like a great name." The Drifloon floated around Kenny in a happy fashion. "Great, it is settled. Welcome to the team Willy." Chewy and Sunny looked up at Willy and invited him to rest on Sunny's back. Willy floated down to join his new friends.

"There you are Kenny." Jerry said walking up to Kenny.

"WHat? Did I miss something?" Kenny asked confused

"While you were off lollygagging we are missing the Pokemon contests are happening and I want to get in on the costume contest." Jerry said pulling Kenny over to him.

They finally made it to the center stage and they saw 4 trainers up on show off their pokemon.

"Ah isn't that the most beautiful Froslass you ever seen folks." The judge said as the Froslass stared into the crowd of people batting her eyes. The crowd started cheering pretty loud for the pokemon.

"Next up is Jessica's Lopunny." The Loppuny began to walk across the stage as if she was a super model. The crowd went crazy cheering for the pokemon.

"Finally we have Madeline and her Roselia." Roselia stepped up and began to walk like the Lopunny before it and when she turned her body she looked into the crowd and batted her eyes. The crowd loved it and they began cheering Roselia's name.

"Okay folk's looks like we have ourselves a winner." The judge yelled into the microphone walking over to Madeline. "Madeline you and your Roselia have just won a Sunny Day TM."

"Thank you all." Madeline said bowing and exiting the stage with all the other contestants.

"Okay folks we are having our costume contests and a few moments so please enter." The judge said going over to the edge of the stage to rest for a bit. Kenny and Jerry ran over to sign up for the contest.

"Okay sir what is your name and what pokemon are you using?" The man at the sign up table asked

"I am Kenny and I am entering Chewy my Pikachu." Kenny said scratching Chewy's chin.

"I am Jerry and I am entering Corey my Wartortle." Jerry said smiling at Corey.

"I am Dustin and I am entering my Marill." Dustin said sneaking up behind Kenny.

"Okay gentlemen, Kenny you are contestant 1, Jerry contestant 2 and Dustin is contestant 3."

Kenny turned around and saw Dustin smiling him down.

"I am going to beat you Kenny like you beat me in pokemon battles." Dustin laughed

"Okay contestants. Let's get this show on the road." The judge yelled full of energy.

Kenny, Jerry, and Dustin walked up the stage and stood behind the curtains. They stood in front of chests marked with numbers. Suddenly a little girl walked up on the stage next to Dustin.

"Good luck guys." The little girl said jumping up and down with excitement.

The curtains opened up and the judge began his talk.

"Hello ladies and gentlemen I am your judge for this Pokemon costume contest. This contest's theme is Senior Citizenship. Make your pokemon look like senior citizens with the stuff in the chest behind you. The contestants have only ten minutes to get their costumes ready. Okay contestants get ready….set…..go!!!!!"
Kenny ran over to the chest and began to pull out clothes for his grandma outfit he was planning on making. Kenny pulled out a grey dress and a pink little jacket and placed it on Chewy. Kenny sat there and thought what would go good with that. Kenny went digging into the trunk and found a necklace and threw it over Chewy's neck. Kenny also found a pair of big glasses and put them over her eyes.

"Okay I need some hair for you Chewy." Kenny said calmly looking for something to use as hair. He found a beard but he decided to mess it up to make it into an afro for Chewy.

"Okay contestants your time is up let us see your designs."

"First are Kenny and his Pikachu as the old lady from down the street." Pikachu walked forward shacking and making moans to stay in character. The crowd loved it and went wild.

"Next we have Jerry and his Wartortle as the Man with a cane." Wartortle's head was already bald and the beard added to his old look. The crowd cheered for the Wartortle.

"Next up is Dustin his Marill as the Old gentleman." Marill stepped up and bowed before the crowd. The crowd went crazy for the Marill just like they did for Pikachu.

"Our final contestant is Mary and her Aipom as the old dude." Aipom ran up and looked into the crowd and smiled with its beard shaking as it bounced around. The crowd thought aipom looked cute and applauded for it.

"Okay folks so it was close but our winner are Kenny and his adorable Pikachu." The crowd cheered as Kenny and Chewy walked forward again.

"Thank you everyone it was a fun contest." Kenny said waving to the crowd.

"Okay Kenny here is your TM for winning the competition." The judge said handing a TM to Kenny and walking to the side of the stage like he did before. Kenny and the other contestants walked off the stage and he headed to the pokemon center. He was beat and he decided to call it a day and go to bed early. Chewy gave out a big yawn. Kenny walked to the nurse and asked for a key to a room. The nurse handed him a key and he headed to his room.

"Good night guys. I will see you in the morning." Kenny said turning off the light and going to bed.
