i picked squirtle as my starter, but he's been relegated to the sidelines since i caught a female and a male nidoran. their queenly and kingly nicknames are Cleopatra and Leonidas--or, as i thought about calling them, Cleo and Leo. they're so much more adorable with royally and phonetically themed nicknames.

I gave Cleo all the heavy lifting from Mt. Moon until post-Misty. I want Leonidas to learn Thrash, but I couldn't evolve him into a ground type until after fighting Misty. So I had to keep him below level 23 until that point. Cleopatra will learn Body Slam, but by TM instead of level-up.

Up next: The easiest battle with Lt. Surge I will ever have. My only disappointment is that neither of my two monsters can learn dig. Oh, well. Thrash and Body Slam on low-defense electric types will more than suffice. A ground attack will have to wait until I procure Earthquake in Saffron. Also, a few upgrades await in Celadon.

I decided to leave Tail Whip on Cleopatra, and it ended up working out. I used one on Lapras and then switched in Leonidas to enable him to take it out with one Earthquake. Also, Gary was being a pest for a while using Full Restores on his Venusaur so I just lowered its defense and struck again. Also, Rock Slide saw a fair bit of use against Lorelei which I actually hadn't anticipated.

Neither one ever fainted during the entire run, except for a freak occurrence described following this "spoiler" section

This was a really fun run for me to do, the Nido's are a great team with their huge movepool. Also, they can't be poisoned and are immune to electricity (and therefore to a good number of paralyzing moves).

A very interesting occurrence on Victory Road. I was fighting the Cool Trainer with Bellsprout, Weepinbell, and Victreebel. I had Nidoking use Thrash, and he took out the first two before leaving Victreebel with just a little HP. Victreebel then put him to sleep. I thought at this point that, since 3 turns had passed, I'd use Poke Flute and wake him up. But it was like the game thought Nidoking was still thrashing because it then cycled through "Leonidas is fast asleep" and "Enemy Victreebel used Razor Leaf—critical hit!" This went on for 4 turns without me being able to do anything. Finally, Leonidas woke up, but it was too late and the Victreebel used a fifth Razor Leaf to take him out.

Also, during the E4 run, Leonidas used Thrash for FOUR straight turns while taking out Bruno's Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. I thought three was the max. Come to think of it, I think this whole game has always been at least 3 turns. I don't think it ever ended after two turns, unless the battle ended after two. Any input on this?

First time poster here, been reading the boards the past few days and have decided to join so that I can start this challenge myself.

I have decided I will have a good at the Grass type challenge! :)
