The Nintendo DSi Discussion Thread

And thank the lords for that last bit. Wanna here the best part about it? Fricking region lock. One reason why im not buying it. Sure its thinner and all but who gives a rats ass! Its certainly a bummer for importers andits a quick gimmick of nintendo just to re sell old games. I would have preferred it if they announced the Wii2 and told us it came with 20gb of memory and upgraded graphics with hd-dvd drive for the games as well so we dont get all that dual sided crap like smash bros.

The Wii just turned two. Don't expect a new one for a couple of years. Why would one of the fastest selling systems ever have the shortest shelf-life especially when it is still selling out every week? O_o
 
Well i dunno it sounded cool at the time of posting. Seeing as i live in a country where the i-phone is god and PS3 is its holy partner,vista is gods gift to computers, and nintendo is the lowly servant of i-phone PS3 i dont know these things. Anyway i really am starting to hate that i at the end and the ds(i) overall.

It's a regular DS (lite), plus a couple of extra things. To me, its like how there's various levels to the 360 and PS3. It's like a premium DS.

And Nintendo thinks so too, since we're not even going to get the system until late 2009 here because there's no point.

The various levels are just how much hard drive space they have though--there is NO difference aside from that. (Well, the PS3 has some models with BC but they're phasing that out completely anyway so it doesn't count.) You could maybe compare DS Lite → DSi with 360 Arcade → 360 Pro/Elite, but... the arcade didn't even come out first, iirc, so it's a choice the consumer makes whether they want an HDD or not. If they want to not miss out on anything, they just have to pick up an upgrade for their existing console in the form of a hard drive, which is only about $100 more (and makes up the difference between Arcade and Pro anyway). With the DS you don't pay a difference, you buy an entirely new console for more than retail price of your old one. :|

I know DSware is probably nothing special but I still see it as more than a mere upgrade. This'd be like the Wii not being able to get WiiWare unless you bought a new one recently, so everyone who bought a Wii around launch, etc., doesn't get the benefit. Sure, WiiWare isn't much but... it is a nice touch and as more and more comes out for it (and inevitably, DSware), it'd be nice to not have to pay another $200 to get it.

Anyway, there's a a flashcart team has designed a new version of their flashcart that is now compatible with the DSi. I won't mention the name for obvious reasons though.

I believe you mean slot.

There are now 3 flashcarts designed to work on the DSi now. Two are already retail products. The other has just been announced.
 
Yeah so? The sd card slut i mean slot could be used for the main reason. GBA virtual console. You know its going to happen.
