I don't know what a speech contest is, actually. I've never been in one, so...
The reason I hold speeches is that it's compulsory in my Swedish class...

You just get judges to evaluate your speech. First round is the top 2 people in the grade level, and the next round is top two in the school, and then the top three out of all the schools in the whole city, and they get some kind of award, no idea what it is..
