Yeah I do too a little but if you think of it if Brock didnt catch these Pokemon. After he gave his Pokemon to his brother he would only have on Pokemon and plus they havent come across many rock/ground types have they.
Ok Emerald ^_^. Pikapal yes he did he gave his Crobat, his Onix and his Geodude to his brother to look after the gym and then he kept his Forretress and caught up with Ash in Hoenn.
What old Brock? You act as if a nonexistant type-switch (he quit being a Rock trainer after he first left the Pewter Gym way back when, so that's long past) changed his personality.
Heck, at least now his Pokemon are much more involved in the episodes than before.
Brock was only a "rock trainer" for one episode. When he left the gym, he changed his focus. Think about it: have we ever seen him capture a Rock Pokemon? No. He started with Onix and Geodude, and we know that his father gave him Onix. None of his other Pokemon are Rock types.
^Thats true XD. Plus like I said he probably would only have a couple of Pokemon if he just catchwed rock/ground types XD. Plus Mudkip is Half Water half Ground so in a way he is still catching some Rock or Ground types.
^Are you sure that is a map book and not his book for pickup lines in disguise. Because you never get to see the inside XD and they have the map on the Pokenav.
