Luther awoke early the next morning to the miserable little room at the center. He squinted as he realized that the light in the ceiling fan had been left on all night, and that combined with the piercing brightness of the new morning which filtered through the window made the room exceptionally bright. Luther fumbled around for the sunglasses in his pack, and slipped them on, waiting to take them off until he felt fully awake. He felt no need to change his clothes, after all nobody had seen him wearing the outfit the previous day, and it wasn?t dirty anyway.
He thought he should at least find a bathroom and wash his face, though; he didn?t want to look as tired as he felt. He stood up, leaning against the wall and stretching, and then unlocking his door and leaving to head into the lobby again. The daylight made the hallway reasonably more cheerful, and as he exited it, he saw that by the windows of the center were booths for trainers to eat breakfast in. There was one young boy at a booth near the entrance boredly munching on a bagel, but besides that there were no other trainers to be seen. He looked at the front desk and finally saw a nurse there, a younger girl with pink hair and the standard pokemon center nurse outfit, but definitely not one of those strange Nurse Joys of Kanto and Johto.
He strolled to the counter, and she looked at him, eyeing him strangely. ?When did you arrive here? I don?t remember ever seeing you...? she said quizzically.
?I got here late last night; nobody was here so I just went to my room. By a stroke of luck I met a man yesterday who gave me his key...I?m in room three.? Luther said quietly, leaning against the counter. The nurse stared at him, eyeing him up and down as if looking for something that would either expose or exonerate him.
?Room three? But the person in there never checked out...?
?He seemed to be in a hurry to get wherever he was going. It was a tallish man with silver hair; sound familiar??
?Ah, yes, him...I have no reason to not believe you, so I?ll just list him as checked out this morning and you as checked in. What?s your name??
?Luther Goldman. And here?s my ID verification.? He whipped out his pokedex, and pressed the ID key, and the machine displayed his official league photo and a few statistics.
The nurse tapped a few keys on her computer and muttered nonchalantly ?Everything checks out, enjoy your stay.? Luther looked around for a moment, then noticed the boy with the bagel again. I ought to get something myself if I?m going to go job-hunting today... Luther thought, then turned to the nurse again.
?Oh, and by the way, if it wouldn?t indispose you could I ask what this center serves for breakfast??...
