Actually, I think Ash really cares about Misty and I bet he loves her too.
In GCYL, when Misty finds out she has to go back home and has to leave Ash and her opportunity to travel, Ash says how it's only until her sisters return and how she finally got her bike back. He's really happy when saying it, because he wants to show Misty that it isn't a big deal she has to go, and that before she knows it, she'll be back. I stated it much better a while back but I cant quite find the words right now.

But to sum it up, Ash knew that if they didn't make a big deal about their separation, Misty wouldn't be as upset. Instead she'd look at the separation in a good way. She'd finally get to take a break at the gym and enjoy being a gymleader.
You just need to approach Ash's reaction from another end. He's not always oblivious. Maybe Ash has a different way of showing love.

@CClair: Yeah, Ash does show hints sometimes XD I'm just saying that it's rather rare sometimes because he's so caught up in his whole trainer life. I just wished he would occasionally show more hints =3 Like have him pull out that handkerchief Misty gave him and have him cry on it or something XD

I highly doubt so. She probably just change her outfit. Like she did during Hoenn Region.

Yeah, I agree with Kasumi. The authors would probably change her outfit to something even cuter, but would leave the hairstyle for recognization purposes and whatnot.

I think her outfit will be more 'in'. In the sense of comparing the first epsiode with the latest epsiode, you see some great difference in outfits designs. I think maybe her dressing style will be even more cuter,even more original!
