The Official BeachBoy Becoming an Admin Thread.
Yes, I love just smacking you guys in the face with completely random titles. ^_^
Anyway, this team was made to strike a line between offense and defense, but I am overdosing on the defense somewhat. =/
Therefore, in order to strike a real balance, I have assembled this mighty team with Dark_Azelf's 5 Wall 1 Sweeper combination and BeachBoy's 6 Sweeper style, and what do we get? About 3 Walls and 3 Sweepers. ^_^
Have a very lovely day, BeachBoy and Dark_Azelf. ;)
You shall both face my wrath if you were shooting this team and shoving it down a river for me saying that. >=[

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Metagross @ Leftovers
Adamant [ +Atk, -Sp.Atk ]
208 HP / 76 Atk / 208 Sp.Def
- Meteor Mash
- Reflect
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
Comments:
~ Metagross is rather most common as a Choice Bander these days in my opinion, after all, 607 Atk with a Base 100 BP STAB move is nothing to shove away. However, this team already has 2 Choice Band Pokemon, there would ultimately be a break in the balance if we were to make this a 3rd one, and in general I find my team to not lead very well.
Stealth Rock is an essential move these days obviously, yes? Meteor Mash is its only STAB, and is much better then Zen Headbutt. Earthquake provides this with at least some type coverage. ;) Reflect is an impressive move, and this team is severely lacking on the physical side of defense, so it is a must and may not be removed at all costs.
Also, this fabulous set was made by someone on Smogon, so don't say I'm creative and stuff, it's at the buttom of the Metagross analysis. :D
Suicune @ Choice Specs
Bold [ +Spe, -Atk ]
252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Sp.Atk
- Surf
- Hidden Power Electric
- Roar / ???
- Ice Beam
Comments:
~ I find Suicune's attacking movepool lacking, like the first Pocket Monster in this spot, Jolteon.
Except, it's a tad better, and it's much bulkier.
One may ask "Why Choice Specs and not Leftovers?" Well, my team is Dragonite weak, and Specs Ice Beam with this specific EV spread OHKOs all non-Yache ones. Also, this just barely guarantees a 2HKO on 4 HP / 0 Sp.Def Heracross with Surf, which is lovely. <3
Hidden Power Electric hits Gyarados and Vaporeon, who would otherwise switch in for free and Roar is for a phazer, and the lack of a better filler.
Gyarados @ Choice Band
Careful [ +Sp.Def, -Sp.Atk ]
72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
- Waterfall
- Return
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Comments:
~ While many think Life Orb Gyarados with DD is better, in most cases they're correct. However, I told you at the beginning I would like to strike a balance between defense and offense, and Choice Band still hits hard right away, plus it doesn't get that nasty 10% recoil.
By the way, in case you have not noticed, Waterfall / Return / Stone Edge / Earthquake covers everything in the game for at least neutral.
This is also a surefire AgiliLuke counter, unless they were to run Hidden Power Electric, for which I would go psycho on them.
With Stealth Rock damage added, Life Orb Shadow Ball will never 2HKO unless in Sandstorm, while LO Focus Blast has only a very slim chance of 2HKOing, about 17%. =/
The aforementioned Life Orb Shadow Ball on the other hand, does a mere 29.80% - 35.24% therefore only 3HKOing after Stealth Rock does a nasty 25%.
Choice Band Earthquake on the other hand, KOs Lucario with ease.
Return is also a guaranteed 2HKO on Vaporeon, after Stealth Rock takes its toll and Leftovers is added.
It takes 48.49% - 57.11% from Return, do the math and you'll know what I'm talking about and unlike Stone Edge, it does not risk missing. ;)
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Calm [ +Sp.Def, -Atk ]
252 HP / 4 Sp.Atk / 252 Sp.Def
- Discharge
- Hidden Power Ice
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Comments:
~ Many people prefer Roost, for many different reasons, gaining an Electric-resist, and losing weaknesses to Rock and Ice are nice, but one should always remember RestTalk. Zapdos with RestTalk is a very viable counter to Gengar, especially Scarf Gar, who fails to 2HKO even with Hidden Power Ice, and with Rest, it can easily shave off that damage, since factoring in Stealth Rock, Hidden Power still 3HKOs.
Discharge is very cute, spreading status around is always lovely, especially when this team is rather slow, excluding Jolteon.
I will not take the time to put 36 Spe, as TTar will beat this, regardless.
My own Hidden Power Ice provides good coverage with Thunderbolt, need I say more?
Machamp @ Choice Band
Adamant [ +Atk, -Sp.Atk]
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Thunderpunch
- Payback
Comments:
~ Choice Band Machamp is an absolute beast, its defenses are also quite decent, making it quite respectable at taking a hit and firing back. This also makes a great Blissey counter, which pretty much all 5 other Pocket Monsters can't do, besides Choice Band Gyarados, which I absolutely love. <3
Close Combat pummels anything not called a Ghost-type or a resist, even then we have Ice Punch for Salamence and Gliscor, while Thunderpunch makes Gyarados a Roasted Eel. Weezing can't really do much, Payback will eventually take its toll on the purple ball.
Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Modest [ +Sp.Atk, -Atk ]
252 Sp.Atk / 216 Spe / 40 HP
- Fire Blast
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
Comments:
~ Scarf Heatran is a fantastic Revenge Killer, case closed. Anyone who disagrees shall be speared to death by BeachBoy.
Fire Blast, a most lovely STAB, KOs a lot of things, while Earth Power and Dragon Pulse covers everything that resists it.
Toxic may seem odd but, it severely cripples Vaporeon, non-CroCune, and Porygon-2, all things who would otherwise rather laugh at it.
It's also quite fun becoming a second Dark_Azelf, which means I'm Taunt weak. =/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This team is in no way related to any Salamence in <insert tier here> voting thread, just making it clear.
Also, BeachBoy, I swear I sense you'll butcher my team with offense here and there, mainly Choice Scarf Zapdos, and Choice Band Metagross with Stealth Rock. *shudder*
OH MY BEACHBOY! I'm running 4 Choiced Pocket Monsters, my "Balanced" team wasn't meant to turn out like this. :(
I am also completely squashed by Yache Dragonite, as my dear Vance has stated. >.>
