I woke up and immediately jumped out of bed, "Alright! Today's the day I start my journey!" I ran over to my bag that I sat next to the small coffee table with the telephone. I opened the bad and took out my long sleeve brown t-shirt followed by my blue jeans and my favorite brown hoodie and got dressed. I then cleaned up around the room, to reduce work for any of the care takers of the Inn. After I cleaned I picked up my bag and put the strap over my left shoulder and walked to the door where I slid my feet into my shoes and opened the door and made sure it was locked. I hurriedly walked down the hall to the stairs and went down to the front desk. "Checking out?" the young lady at the desk asked. "Yes." I quickly answered as I handed the key over to the lady. "Well I hope you enjoyed your stay!" she said as she took the keys from my hand and smiled. "Thank you!" I said as I walked toward the door. I quickly turned back once I saw the table with muffins. I walked over and examined the types they had. I realized there were no blueberry muffins and grabbed a poppy seed then walked out the door.

I was about halfway to the lab. I could see it and I knew it would take about ten minutes to get to it. But, to the left there was a museum. On the lawn there was a sign that read, "Come see our Pokémon exhibits!" Normally I wouldn't go to a museum, but since I was about to go on my Pokémon journey I thought I could stand to learn something about Pokémon. I walked toward the door, knowing that it would feel like forever in the museum. I opened the door and walked in. As I passed the man at the counter he stopped me, "Young man are you going to pay?" he said with an accusing tone. <Oh great, I'm starting to regret coming, and I haven't gone in yet.> I pulled out my wallet from my back pocket and dug around for the money, "Here you go." I said as I handed over the money. He smiled as he accepted the money, "Have a good time sir." I rolled my eyes as I walked over to a display featuring a red stone and a big picture of a Pokémon. I read the sign under the picture, "Flareon the flame Pokémon, it fluffs out its fur collar to cool down its body temperature, which can reach 1,650 degrees." "Wow that's hot." I looked down at the stone; it was a burnt amber color with a red and yellow flame captured in the center. It also had a caption, "This stone is given to certain fire Pokémon when it is ready to evolve. When the Pokémon comes in contact with the stone it evolves. Eevee uses this stone to evolve into a Flareon." "That's cool, I wonder if there is a stone to evolve certain flying type Pokémon!" I walked around and looked at the other stones. "Water, fire, thunder, moon, sun, shiny, dusk, dawn, oval, everstone. Half these stones aren't even types!" <Wait, maybe some that aren't types are still able to evolve flying types!> I walked over to the moon stone and looked at the picture above it. The Pokémon was a little pink one with a curly tail; I looked at the caption, "Clefairy, the fairy Pokémon…" "this isn't a flying type." I said to myself. I looked at all the pictures. <None of these are flying type!> I thought. I stormed toward the door. "Hope you have a nice day!" the man at the counter called. I rolled my eyes again and walked out.

I was at the Gate of the Pokémon center and took a deep breath. "Ok, here I come!" I walked to the door and knocked. The door was opened by the professor. "Hello!" she said. I was a little surprised at the fact that she was a girl, all the professors he'd heard of where guys, like Rowan. "Hi I'm a new one of the new trainers!" I said excitedly. "Of course! Come on in!" she said as she signaled me into the lab. I walked in and was lead to a desk at the back of the room and on the table where four pokeballs. <Oh boy I get my first Pokémon now!> "Go ahead choose!" she said. I examined the pokeballs, each with a nametag by it. There was Snover, Skorupi, Phanpy, and Electrike. My smile dropped a bit; there were no flying types to choose. "Ok, I'll take this one then!" not wanting to get my mood down I picked up the pokeball. Since I didn't recognize any of the Pokémon I had just picked the one marked Phanpy. "Great choice! That Pokémon has a great personality!" the professor said, "You'll also be needing these." She continued as she handed me what I knew to be a pokedex and five pokeballs. "Thank you! I said as I dashed out the front door, excited to see what Pokémon I had received and to start going to the route!

I was on the edge of the route when I couldn't wait any longer; I had to meet my new Pokémon. "Ok come on out Phanpy!" I threw the pokeball into the air and a little Pokémon appeared. It was sky blue and looked like a puppy sized elephant. Its ears had little red line things on it and there was also one on its nose. I took out my pokedex, "Phanpy the long nose Pokémon, as a sign of affection, it bumps with its snout. However, it is so strong, it may send you flying." "Wow then I guess you are a pretty strong Pokémon then huh?" I asked. It tilted its head and looked at me. "Phan?" "You're pretty cute!" I looked down at my pokedex. <Crap. It's a ground type… It doesn't seem like it would turn on me. Plus with a little training it could be better that some flying types!> "Ready Phanpy?" I asked trying to be used to the fact that my first Pokémon was a ground type.

Two sounds echoed out of the country hotel's room. The first was the sound of crashing on the wooden floor. The second was more of a normal sound.

"Dammit! Of all the freaking things to do this morning I would fall out of the damn bed…" Aaron released an unreal amount of cursing, even for him. He didn't necessarily like cursing, but it certainly was a nice way to vent. He stood up, rubbing his back. The hard wood floor hadn't been comfortable to fall on either. He looked around; searching for the flier he'd received earlier. It read:

Attention, future trainer! Do you want to journey in an amazing region where few have ever gone before? Pick up your ferry ticket to visit the Ophoore Region today! There, Professor Cypress will grant you your first Pokémon!

The flier had gone on to list several Pokémon, but only one had caught Sam's eye. No, it was not one he wanted; it was the only one he wanted to avoid.

"Disgusting Skorupi…" he whispered. It was a bug type, the most disturbing of all Pokémon types. Still, there were a fair number of other Pokémon waiting, so it would work out…hopefully.

Aaron quickly changed into his traveling clothes, then packed up his pajamas in his backpack, slipped on the familiar pack, and kicked the door open. He ran down the short hallway. As he reached the steps, a mysterious thing happened. He tripped over some unseen force, tumbling down the stairs. Crashing on the bottom, Aaron was without words to describe the pain. He did manage to get a few out.

"…hellish…pain…damn those…stairs…" he swore through closed teeth. He stumbled to his feet as the clerk of the hotel ran over.

"Are you okay?" she gasped. Aaron rubbed his neck. The lady had obviously never fallen down those stairs or she would obviously realize he was far from okay.

"Ugh…yeah. I'll live. Have you got anything to eat or something?" he lied. The lady backed up, obviously shocked.

"Er…um…yes, of course! Right this way!" she stammered. Aaron suppressed his laughter at this. Following her, they ended up in what appeared to be some sort of dining hall. Sitting down at a table, he was shocked when someone who appeared to be some sort of waiter walked over.

"May I take your order, sir?" he asked. Aaron suppressed a giggle.

"They actually have a waiter? Wow…anyway, have you got eggs?" The waiter nodded. "Perfect. Eggs and juice. Don't care what kind…"

"Of course…" The waiter walked off. A bit later, the man came back, carrying a hot plate of food along with a glass of juice.

"Here you are, sir…" he set them down and left. Aaron sighed, picking up a fork and starting on his food.

A few minutes later, he was done and out of there. He was already charging down the path to Professor Cypress's lab. He couldn't wait at all to receive his first team member…he couldn't wait to finally start on his journey. But most of all, he couldn't wait to make his dad proud…after everything he'd done. On the horizon, a large house loomed. His energy renewed with the sight, Aaron ran straight for it.

Upon reaching it, Aaron did the only intelligent thing he could think of while still being civil.

"OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!" he roared, rapping on the door. As he kept knocking, the door open…but Aaron didn't notice. Smashing his fist against whatever was there; he quickly heard a thud and was still swinging at air. Looking down, he saw a man in a white lab coat laying there.

"You damn son of a…" he breathed out in fury. Aaron backed up.

"Uh…sorry, man. I'm Aaron. Aaron Lucifer…I'm here to see Professor Cypress." Aaron explained. The man stood up, clutching his chest.

"Right that way you ungrateful little prick." The man pointed into the lab and Aaron ran in, not looking back.

He quickly arrived in a huge room, coated in all sorts of lab equipment. A woman stood at the other end of the room.

"Hello?" Aaron asked. She jumped in fright, then turned around.

"Erm…who are you?" she asked. Aaron sighed. Obviously no one cared he was here.

"Aaron Lucifer, ma'am. I'm here to pick up my Pokémon?" he asked. She smiled warmly.

"Ah, Aaron. Yes, it's right over there. Interesting little creature, that Pokémon…" Aaron nodded and walked over to pick up the pokeball. Odd, though. It was the only one there. He turned to leave but was quickly stopped.

"Hold on, Aaron! You're forgetting some things…" she held up a metal box and several white and red orbs. Aaron raised an eyebrow.

"What the hell are these?" he asked. She sighed.

"A pokedex and pokeballs…" she explained. Aaron nodded, taking them from her and putting them in his pockets.

"Right…and now I'll be off…" he ran out the door before she could stall him any further.

Making his way outside, he realized he hadn't seen his Pokémon yet.

"Hmm…right! Let's see what ya are! Go!" he tossed the ball up into the air.

Much to his dismay, a purple creature with two pincers and a stinger for a tail appeared.

"Sko?" it looked at him. He backed off in pain.

"AGH! A SKORUPI!" he yelled. The one Pokémon he hadn't wanted would of course be the one he got. Sighing, he pulled out his pokeball.

"Skoru?" it looked at him, eyes opened wide. It obviously didn't like the pokeball much. Still, maybe he could still exchange it.

"…but she only had this pokeball. Great, I was so late that I couldn't get anything else…" he whispered. Sighing, he put the ball down. Maybe he could just catch another one on that route.

"Skorp?" the Pokémon looked at him again. Aaron sighed.

"Look, I don't like you much, so you're free, alright? Do whatever you please, I'm done…" with that, Aaron walked down the path. He would find something better soon anyway. Sadly, the creature followed him.

"Skorupi..." it whispered. Aaron growled.

"Look, go! I don't want you!" he yelled. The scorpion turned to leave, a sad look on his face. Aaron almost felt bad, but he reassured himself that it would find a better trainer anyway.

ROUTE 1 IS IN THIS POST!

I was waiting for Sasuneuchiha to get his post up (he was suppose to have it three days ago -.-) before I graded your post Sandeon >.< So that's why I haven't responded until now.

I've also uped the rating to PG-13 and will allow SOME cursing... Only Damn and its variations are allowed.

Sandeon: Hmm... I'm not really a fan of first person, but it WAS for the most part grammatically correct and I can't complain about that. The tone was also a bit perky for my tastes... BUT, once again I can't complain -.- I do, however, want you to space apart your paragraphs better. It makes dialouge run smoother and makes it easier to read. Oh, and also could you please do me a favor and type Keaton after every post so I don't have to go and look up your name every time ^-^' Keaton obtained a level five Phanphy, 5 Pokeballs, and a Pokedex.

Sasuneuchiha: Hillarious... although, you DO use a lot of cursing -.- Aaron obtained a level five Skorupi, 5 Pokeballs, and a Pokedex.

Number of posts: 2 (Your second post will end at Beginroot.)

~~~This is a route post so basically here you can catch Pokemon, battle wild trainers, and many other things. Below are the pokemon in this route and if there are certain added events, they will be below the pokemon.
Pokemon in the area:
*Please note the rarity catagory! This determines the difficulty of catching this pokemon and it is determine by the quality of your post. As usually in most RPs of this genre, you end your post at throwing the pokeball and then I determine if you catch it.
Event 1: Pokemon vs. Machine
Gregory, a crazed mechanic, has developed a "mechanical pokemon" and challenges you to a battle against it. If you defeat him, he will surrender his TM 47 Steel Wing.
Gregory's machine beast resembles a Rhyhorn covered in steel plates. The loose bolts and series of electric conducting material seem to be its flaws in its design. It attacks by clawing, charging, and it can shoot a semi-powerful lazer that is similar in power to Thundershock.
Event 2: Moon Fairy
Sherry, an aspiring street magician, wants to test out her Cleffa that she hatched from an egg. After losing she has decided that she still needs to raise her Cleffa before using her Moon Stone to evolve it (she sincerely believes the Cleffa evolves into Clefable by Moon Stone) and decides to give it to you.
Right here's my SU:
Character Name: Matthew Bates (prefers to go by Matt)
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: Due to his illness, Matthew has always been very small for his age. He stands at just 5 foot 5 inches tall, with a very slender frame. This causes Matthew to look younger than he actually is, with some people mistaking him for a thirteen or fourteen year old, much to Matthew's displeasure.
Matthew has long dark brown hair, with a fringe that he wears swept across his forehead. This dark hair is in contrast with his very pale skin, which again may have been caused by his long term illness as a child. Due to this pale skin, he burns very easily and has to be very careful about his exposure to sunlight.
Due to his slender build, Matthew chooses to wear tight fitting clothes. He wears a pair of dark skinny jeans with a slim fitting plain red tee-shirt. If the weather turns cold, he wears a grey three quarter length jacket over the top of this. He also has a tan shoulder bag to carry belongings such as his spare clothes and pokéballs around with him.
History: Matthew was born with a rare genetic disorder, which at the time of his birth had no known cure. Matthew had spent the majority of his childhood bed-ridden, and as a result had missed out on many of the thrills and experiences of childhood. As he had been unable to go outside and play with all the other children, Matthew had spent his childhood watching the various pokémon battles and contests that were shown regularly on the television. He quickly became obsessed with both. Watching a pokémon battle filled Matthew with an excitement he had rarely felt elsewhere, while he always watched the contests for the eye catching appeals round.
When Matthew was twelve, a breakthrough was made in the treatment of his illness. His family had moved from their home in Viridian City to Saffron City in order for Matthew to receive the treatment. The treatment was a long process, but after almost a year of regular checkups and physiotherapy sessions Matthew had made a complete recovery. Upon his recovery Matthew had decided that he wanted to become a pokémon trainer; he wanted to experience the thrill of battling first hand, instead of from a bed. However due to his history of illness, his parents wanted him to wait a few years before going on a journey. They were worried his body wouldn't be able to cope with the pressured of pokémon training, and the strain of surviving in the wild.
Matthew spent the next few years living like a normal teenager. He enrolled in school, and even made a group of friends. Enjoying the change of pace in his life, he agreed to put his dreams of becoming a trainer on hold. However upon turning sixteen Matthew heard about the Ophoore Region, and his dreams of becoming a trainer were re-ignited. After weeks of begging his parents to let him go, they finally agreed. Matthew quickly dropped out of school, packed his bags and set out on his new adventure...
Personality: 'You only live once,so take every single opportunity that comes by'. Those were the words that had finally persuaded Matthew's parents to agree to let him go on his journey. Having been so ill for the majority of his life, Matthew had barely left his own bedroom until he was thirteen and had never left the confines of his home town. Matthew was determined to make his time in the Ophoore Region count, he wanted to experience an entirely different culture and hopefully discover a few things about himself in the process.
Matthew rarely tells people about his struggles with illness as a child, as it tends to make them over-protective of him and restricts his lifestyle. Having spent much of his life bed-ridden, Matthew now leads an active lifestyle in an attempt to make up for it. He tries to make the most of every day, because after spending so long bed-ridden he now knows that each day is a gift.
Although generally a cheerful person, his illness had left Matthew a little bitter. Having missed out on so much of his childhood, Matthew feels like he is 'owed' a few experiences. As such he is not against occasionally using some underhand tactics to get what he wants.
Leon was glad that he was finally on the road. He hadn't been walking for too long now, and figured it would take him a while to reach the next town. So far, he'd seen quite a bit of grass and trees, but despite all of the shade it was rather humid. Leon found this a bit annoying at first, mostly because he had his jacket on, but then (after making sure no one was around) he shrugged it off and stuffed it away in his backpack. He felt a bit better now, but his jeans were starting to cling to his thighs like a second skin, and that was a bit annoying. Leon sighed and shook his head, but didn't stop for any sort of a break.
It wasn't long until he began to notice a small pool of sweat around the rim of his shirt. That was a bit nasty, but there wasn't a whole lot he could do about it. Leon sighed and ran a hand through his hair, and then looked around for some sort of water. He couldn't find any, so eventually Leon pressed on, being firm with himself and not taking a bunch of breaks. If he couldn't see water now, he doubted that he would magically stumble upon a nice and cool stream anytime soon. Plus, he wasn't sure if he would've wanted to stop anyway. Leon didn't want to waste time cooling himself off and taking a break. Well, unless he was about to get heatstroke or something. Then that was a completely different story.
About a quarter of the way through the route, Leon happened upon another person. He stopped in his tracks, debating on putting on his jacket, but it was a bit too late. The girl had noticed him, and she was approaching him with a somewhat determined look on her face. Leon's eyebrow arched and he found his hand drifting to Larvitar's Pokeball. That's an odd first reaction. Though I guess it might not be anymore, considering I'm out on a journey now, Leon mused briefly.
"You there!" the girl declared, pointing at Leon in a bit of a dramatic fashion.
Leon glanced around, then pointed to himself. "Me?"
"No duh Sherlock! Who else do you think I was talking to?" She didn't wait for him to answer, but Leon didn't figure she would. "Anyway, that's beside the point. I have this Pokemon, you see. She's a Cleffa, and she hatched pretty recently from an egg."
Leon nodded slowly. Yeah, Pokemon hatched from eggs. So what? He wasn't exactly sure what she wanted.
"Ugh! Stupid boys," the girl grumbled under her breath. She shook her head. "Anyway, I want you to battle me. I mean, you do have a Pokemon right? I'll bet you do! So bring it on! Cleffa will easily beat you. She's been getting stronger, and with my amazing magician-like skills we'll team up and beat you and...uhm...?"
"Larvitar."
"Yeah! We'll beat you and your Larvitar!"
Leon had to admit, she was sort of good at the whole drama thing. He offered her a tiny smirk of amusement. "I'll accept your challenge for a battle."
"Awesome!" the girl chirped. "I'm Sherry, by the way." She jogged a bit down the road, providing Larvitar and Cleffa with room to battle.
Leon nodded slightly as he grabbed Larvitar's Pokeball. "Leon," he said, just loud enough for her to hear. Sherry smirked at him and then grabbed a Pokeball (which Leon assumed to be Cleffa's) as well. "Ready to start?" Leon called across their makeshift field. Sherry grinned widely at him and nodded.
The two Pokemon appeared in brilliant bursts of white light. Cleffa danced around a bit, and Leon wondered vaguely if the Pokemon would put up any sort of a good fight. It was, after all, just an oddly shaped pink thing. Larvitar stood looking ready and determined, and Leon felt rather proud of his Pokemon. He was glad that the Cleffa wasn't his Pokemon, because in all truth he thought he would've been a bit embarrassed about having it. It didn't seem like much of a battler, that was for sure.
"Ladies first," Leon offered, trying to be polite.
Sherry, however, scoffed at his offer. "You go first."
Leon, deciding not to waste an opportunity to have a slight advantage, did just that. "Larvitar, use sandstorm!" Leon called to his Pokemon.
Larvitar nodded sharply and then brought his small arms up and out. Suddenly the wind began to blow a bit harsher than normal, and the spare sediment and rock lying around got kicked up and blew across the field. Leon blocked his eyes with his arm, and squinted at the field so he wouldn't get anything in his eyes. He heard Sherry grumble a soft sound of annoyance, and then she was quiet. Leon squinted into the sandstorm, and moments later he heard something singing.
Suddenly there was a soft snoring sound from his side. Leon froze, and his eyes narrowed. Upon close inspection, he found that it was Larvitar. The Pokemon was lying down on its side and sleeping, blissfully unaware of the battle. Leon blinked several times, wondering what the heck had just happened, when he suddenly realized it. The singing he had heard was Cleffa, and of course it was successful. Larvitar was now completely and utterly out, and Leon wasn't exactly sure what he was going to do now. With his only Pokemon asleep for the count, there was no way he would be able to wake it up quick enough without major damage being done.
"Larvitar!" Leon snapped sharply, hoping that it would wake his Pokemon up. Larvitar snored softly in reply, obviously signaling that he hadn't heard. So for the moment, it seemed that the sandstorm was Leon's (and Larvitar's, for that matter) only hope.
"Nice one, Cleffa! Now attack with pound!" Sherry called, obviously happy that Larvitar was snoozing on the field.
Cleffa seemed rather pleased by it too. She hopped forward, and then slammed her body against Larvitar. Leon could've sworn that it was a body slam, but no. Cleffa, he figured, was probably just so small that the attack was like a pound. Leon had a fleeting wonder of what would happen should Cleffa actually attempt a body slam, but brushed that thought away. Now wasn't the time for thinking about things like that; it was the time for waking up Larvitar.
"Larvitar, wake up!" Leon shouted, much louder than he had the first time. Larvitar rolled over, and Leon cursed under his breath. The sandstorm continued to buffet Cleffa, but obviously that wasn't going to last forever, especially with Larvitar snoozing on the job. The only problem was Leon didn't know what Larvitar would respond to.
"Alright Cleffa, use another pound attack! We'll finish it up with a metronome and hope it's something flashy!" Sherry called, sounded a lot more excited than she had when Larvitar unleashed his sandstorm.
"Larvitar, wake the hell up!" Leon shouted again. He sort of wanted to just go out there and nudge his Pokemon awake, but he knew that wasn't exactly something that was allowed. "Come on, Larvitar!"
Cleffa charged in again, slamming into Larvitar with a harsh bit of force. Larvitar even got rolled away on the ground. Cleffa turned, but the sandstorm held back its attempt to advance closer. Instead, the Cleffa went right into her metronome attack. Leon clenched his teeth, thinking about his options. If he was lucky, then the attack would be something that Larvitar would be resistant to. If he wasn't, then it would be something that would KO Larvitar right then and there.
As Cleffa began to do her little finger thing, Leon glanced frantically back and forth between the two Pokemon. He saw Larvitar slowly began to awake, and Leon felt a bit of relief. He was waking up just in time. Cleffa's fingers began to glow, and Leon ordered a bite attack so fast his words got jumbled. He heard Sherry squeak in surprise, and was glad to see that Larvitar was charging at Cleffa at a moderately fast pace. Before the attack could be released (luckily for Larvitar and Leon), Larvitar's jaws clamped down on Cleffa, making the Pokemon cry out in pain. The glowing on her fingers stopped, and it appeared that the attack had been prevented as well.
"Darn it! Oh well, Cleffa just use sing again! Then we'll do a metronome and finish the job!" Sherry seemed very confident in her abilities to get this finished, and Leon didn't deny her the confidence. Metronome could do a lot of damage, if Cleffa and Sherry were lucky enough.
"Don't let it sing," Leon called to Larvitar. "Use a bite attack and if that doesn't do it, follow up with a leer and bite combination!" he shouted, feeling a bit more confident in his and Larvitar's abilities as well.
Larvitar snapped his jaws back down on Cleffa, causing the Pokemon to cry out. It wasn't a sing, but Leon figured that if he didn't do anything fast then it would get out and the tides would turn out of his favor. Larvitar did something that Leon was actually pretty proud of. The Pokemon leered from that close distance, hardly moving away even after the bite attack. Cleffa gave him her own little glare, but Larvitar smirked in reply. He snapped his jaws down on the Pokemon, and that was that. Leon was glad he had had Larvitar use sandstorm, because he knew that otherwise he would've had to keep it going.
"What?" Sherry said, looking at Cleffa with surprise. She heaved a heavy sigh. "Alright, you won. I suppose I'll need to train her more." She recalled Cleffa, and Leon recalled Larvitar. "You see," Sherry began again, "I was going to use this Moon Stone on her, but..." Sherry produced the beautiful rock from her pocket, and looked at it sadly. "I think I'll have to wait. And you beat me, so here. I want you to have my Moon Stone, please."
Leon was unsure what to do. Sure, he wanted the Moon Stone. It was free and something pretty valuable. The only problem was that he didn't know what exactly he was going to do with it, and he didn't want to basically take it from her. "Are you sure?" he asked softly, eyeing the stone. She offered him a small grin and nodded.
They parted ways after a brief goodbye. Leon tucked the stone in his backpack, still wondering what he was going to do with it, and then continued on east towards the next town.
((OOC: Sorry if this was supposed to be like a second post instead of right away, but I didn't see anything against that and it was first come first serve, so XD))
@Slls: Nice SU... the history was particularly interesting. Since the trainer card isn't mandatory~ I can accept you with what you have.
@Frost:Eh, it's okay to do it first. I kind of figured people would have done that anyways. The post was nice :) Larvitar grew to level 7. Leon obtained a Moon Stone. I realised AFTER I made the event how quickly it would go by xD
For all of his mothers worrying, Matthew had thoroughly enjoyed his boat trip from Kanto to the Ophoore region so far. The boat had been sailing for a good while now, and as Matthew leant against the railings on the edge of the boat he couldn't help but grin as the wind whipped gently through his hair. Leaning over the railings, Matthew looked down into the sparkling blue ocean below. Under the water he could see groups of brightly coloured water type pokémon swimming along. Matthew had never seen the ocean before, and found it's majesty captivating...
"Hey kid, get down from there!" came an anxious voice from behind Matthew.
Glancing behind him Matthew saw a plump sailor running towards him, with an anxious look on his face. With one last longing glance at the ocean below, he hopped down from the railing back onto the deck.
"Don't you know how dangerous that is kid?" asked the sailor, as he finally reached Matthew.
"Sorry," Matthew muttered in reply, causing the sailor to let out a sigh.
"Look kid we'll reach Ophoore in five minutes, so just go back to your cabin and wait there,"
With a nod, Matthew turned and slowly made his way to his cabin. The sailors words had filled him with excitement. Five minutes! They would be in the Ophoore region in just five minutes!
As he reached his cabin, Matthew turned his thoughts to his upcoming journey. He checked his bag for about the eighth time, to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. Happy that everything he needed was there, he began thinking about what pokémon he wanted to get as his starter. Watching battles on TV he had grown to love pokémon such as Scizor and Dragonite... but he doubted that they would offer pokémon as rare as Scyther and Dratini as starters to new trainers. Back in Kanto his friend Tony had selected a Bulbasaur from Professor Oak, so maybe a Grass type was the way to go? Realising he didn't even know what types would be on offer in the Ophoore region, he resolved to just make a choice in the lab.
A few minutes later, the boats horn went off to signal that the boat had arrived in Firstar Town. Filled with excitement, Matthew quickly made his way down the ramp and took his first steps into the Ophoore region. After a few seconds of taking the town in, Matthew realised he had no idea where the pokémon lab was located. Spotting a local walking past, Matthew quickly ran over to ask for directions.
"Excuse me sir," said Matthew politely, "Do you know where the pokémon lab is located?"
"You mean Professor Cyress' place?" replied the local, "Yeah, just head east, and take the next right. Follow that road to the edge of town and you can't miss the lab."
"Thanks," Matthew called back to the man, running off in the direction he had indicated.
Matthew soon found his way to the lab, which stood out against the other buildings in the town. Standing in the porch, he took a few deep breaths to compose himself before knocking on the door. A few seconds later, the door was opened by a woman who looked to be in her mid thirties.
"Hi," said Matthew nervously, "I'm Matthew Bates, one of the new trainers."
"Oh hello," replied the Professor smiling, "Please follow me."
Following the Professor through her lab, Matthew could feel the excitement rising within him. The Professor suddenly stopped, and motioned at a table behind her.
"I'm afraid a few trainers have already been today," she explained, "So there are only two pokémon remaining."
Matthew nodded before asking, "Which pokémon are left?"
"The pokéball on the left contains an Electrike, and the pokémon on the right contains a Snover," explained the Professor.
Matthew had never heard of either pokémon before, but the Professor seemed to be expecting him to know what each pokémon was. Not wanting to look like stupid in front of the Professor, Matthew just grabbed the pokéball nearest to him.
"I think I'll take Electrike," he said a little too loudly, remembering what the Professor had called the pokémon a few seconds earlier.
The Professor smiled at Matthew, before rummaging through a draw and pulling out a few items.
"Right, these items will help get you started as a pokémon trainer," she explained handing the items to Matthew, "There are a few pokéballs there, as well as your pokédex."
"Thankyou," said Matthew, pocketing the pokédex and stuffing the pokéballs into his shoulder bag.
"Right well I think that's everything," said Professor Cyress cheerfully, "I wish you the best of luck on your journey Matthew!"
"Thank you Professor," replied Matthew as he turned to leave. After a few steps he stopped, before turning back to the Professor, "And please, call me Matt."
With that Matt left the lab and made his way towards Route One, and the start of his very own pokémon adventure...
I continued down the route with Phanpy walking along next to me. I looked over to a tree when I heard the flutter of wings.
"Wow! Look Phanpy a Spearow!" I said as the small bird Pokémon flew overhead.
"Come on Phanpy!" I yelled as I ran in the direction the Spearow had flown. We ended up in a little grass filled area surrounded by trees. The grass was about half a foot tall making the foot tall bird Pokémon easy to find. The Spearow looked up at us and used growl in an attempt to scare us.
"Phanpy lets catch it! Tackle!" Phanpy ran up to Spearow at a good pace accelerating for a better hit.
Phanpy gave the final lunge as the Spearow hoped back and reared for a peck.
"Phanpy quick defense curl!" I shouted. Phanpy curled up into a ball right before he was hit and the Spearow hit Phanpy and instantly recoiled. The Spearow proceeded to open its wings in preparation to fly.
"Don't let it escape! Tackle!" Phanpy jumped out of the ball formation and hit Spearow in mid air; it almost had enough time to escape! The Spearow looked over its shoulder and quickly hit Phanpy with a peck.
"Phan!" Phanpy yelled as it fell backwards. The Spearow lifted its wings again and leaped up to fly.
"No! Phanpy tackle again!" Phanpy jumped up to hit the Spearow but narrowly missed and the Pokémon got away. I slumped to the ground. <… Wow, a Spearow and Phanpy couldn't bring it down to catch?> Phanpy quickly ran over to me and sat next to me. I thought of what to say.
"Hey!" I looked over to see a guy who had a good set of muscles. He wore a white shirt sleeve covered in coal black oil stains and an unbuttoned dirty red plaid button up shirt over the white one. He also had some ripped up jeans and a baseball cap like hat with some sort of logo on it.
"Yeah you, have you got any time on your hands? And any Pokémon?" I stared at him. <He must want to battle. I've got time and a Pokémon, Phanpy can use some experience so.>
"Yeah I've got a Pokémon, but only one." He smiled.
"Me too, how about a one on one battle huh?" he asked confirming his intentions.
"Sure." I stood up and Phanpy walked over to my side. He pointed at him.
"Is that what you're gonna use?"
"Well ya. He's my Pokémon." I said taking little offense to his comment. "And what are you using?"
"I'll show ya. Come out!" As soon as he said those words a giant machine looking Pokémon came out from behind the tree. It had a horn on its head and appeared to have metal plates all over its body. I took out my pokedex.
"Don't bother," He said, "you won't find this guy on your pokedex, I made him myself!" my eyes widened. <Wow, what a work of art! And it looks like it works, tough opponent for Phanpy. Wait, some of the bolts look kind of loose, near the arms and legs. Whoops, huh Mr. Grease?> "Well let's begin then! Charge!" the giant metal beast ran toward Phanpy with intent to destroy.
"Phanpy defense curl and roll out of the way!" Phanpy curled into its little ball and rolled away but the mechanical beast kept chasing him, then Phanpy started to stop. "No! Don't stop, he's still chasing you!" Phanpy continued to roll and the robot was hot on his trail slashing at him and getting faster. <Crap! He's gonna get caught at this rate! Wait the loose bolts, maybe if we hit them the whole thing will come down. But how?>
"Come on, speed up and catch that thing!" the mechanic yelled, obviously getting aggravated. The robot sped up a little but not by much. "UH! I SAID FASTER!" <HA! He's gonna crack up!> the robot seemed to slow a significant bit, and so did Phanpy.
"Phanpy! Out of the ball! Tackle for the upper thigh of the monster!" Phanpy popped out of the ball formation and darted toward the machine, then he leaped, hitting the thigh of it and loosening a bolt, one keeping the leg attached. The robot teetered.
"Tighten the bolt! Now!" The guy said as his robot reached for the loose bolt and tried to turn it. Its hands where way too stubby and it tried but just couldn't grab the bolt.
"Phanpy, the other leg!" Phanpy ran for the other leg with great speed.
"Phan!" Phanpy yelled as it made contact with almost all its strength knocking the leg down immobilizing that half of the body's leg movement.
"No, no, no! UH! Use your laser!" A red beam shot toward Phanpy. <No!> the beam hit, but it barley hurt him.
"Ha! A thunder kind of move? That doesn't work on ground types! With all you've got tackle, and aim for the head!" Phanpy ran for the robot and jumped onto its belly.
"Knock it off now!" the giant swatted at Phanpy.
"Hurry out of the way!" Phanpy jumped out of the way and almost completely escaped, but as misfortune had it Phanpy was hit by the claws.
"Phan!" Phanpy was hurtled toward the ground.
"No! Phanpy!" <What am I going to do?> I looked around. <Nothing I can use. Aha! I think I got it!>
"Phanpy do it again!" Phanpy looked back at me with a questioned look. "Don't worry I've got a plan. Now jump it's its stomach!" Phanpy ran again, a little hesitant this time. He jumped onto the belly and waited for orders.
"Ha! This'll be easy! Hit it to the ground." The mechanical Pokémon reared back for the punch.
"Now! Phanpy jump and growl! Then tackle f and aim for its neck, it should be just as sloppily put together as the rest of it!" Phanpy jumped and growled and like I thought, the robot hesitated then struck missing by a long shot. Phanpy gave the one last tackle the last of its strength. As I predicted the head was loose and it was knocked off followed by a loud clang of the head hitting the ground.
"W-w-w-what?!?!? This can't be happening!" Phanpy came over to me and flopped over asleep down.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! I did it!" I jumped up and down cheering. "Well, looks like you need to work on your little toy robot a bit huh?"
"UH! Well, I guess I have to." I looked at him, trying to figure out what he 'had' to do. "Here…" he said handing over the item. "It's the tm containing steel wing, take it."
"Wow! Thanks!" I said ecstatically.
"I wouldn't give it to you except for the fact that it was a bet me and my pal made. Put it to good use." He said and then walked away, back into the woods. I sat down.
"Wow! Great job Phanpy you where awesome out there! Taking down that big old hunk of metal!" Phanpy jumped up into my lap and I laughed. "You're really strong. You may not be a flying type, but I like you, a lot!"
"Phan!" Phanpy said excitedly and smiled.
"Well we should be on our way huh?" I said as we got up and started to leave. But Phanpy was tired I took out my pokeball and returned him, and continued down route one.
(OOC: sooooo late, sorry about that. hope its good, im going to bed.)
Name: Bryan White
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Badges or Ribbons: Ribbons
Appearance: Bryan weighs about 170 pounds and has a height of around 6'5". He isn't very skinny or lanky, but isn't fat or flabby either, more in between and average. His weight is due to how tall he is. His legs and arms have slight muscles, and he has large hands and feet. His head is ovular, and his skin is slightly tan. His nose is larger than average. His eyes are of normal size and shape, and are a very light shade of blue. His hair is a very dark brown, and is short, and spiked near the front, with a single green stripe running down the left side. He also has a small amount of stubble on his chin.
Bryan is very careful about what he wears, and likes to stick to name brands such as Kantian Fearow, his favorite brand. His wardrobe is vast, but holds only clothes from that certain brand. Usually he will wear a tee shirt, of which he was many shades and colors, and a pair of dark blue jeans with a couple of rips at the cuffs. Over his shirt he also wears a zip-up hoodie, of which he has less different colors, but has a variety nonetheless. His favorite shirt is a light blue one with white lettering, and his favorite sweatshirt is a dark-blue one. He also has quite a few pairs of Kantian Fearow shoes, suck as blue and white tennis shoes and brown slip-ons with striped edges. He doesn't wear any accessories often, but he owns a couple of rubber and string bracelets. Along with the bracelets, he occasionally wears cologne.
Personality: Bryan is a bit ditzy and oblivious in some situations, which is a problem for him because he is incredibly nosy. Without trying to be, Bryan asks people constantly what they are talking about, and gets even worse when someone is hiding something from him, or refuses to tell him something. Being in the shadow of his father, who was an excellent battler, he is expected to do a lot, and he is scared he won't live up to it. He thinks himself horrible at battling and overall anything physical and doesn't enjoy being violent or disruptive. He does, however, prefer contests, singing, dancing, and writing, although only in secret.
The main reason Bryan keeps this secret is because he extremely self-conscious, and is constantly worried about his appearance, what he does, and what others think of him. He repetitively pulls his shirt downwards over his pants in fear of someone thinking his butt is too big, and he checks his hair whenever he gets the chance, often raving over it. He hates trying new things for the sole fact that he might do it badly in front of someone.
History: Bryan was born and raised in Pastoria City of the Sinnoh region, in a medium sized house next to the Great Marsh. His mother was a researcher, but also liked to put on circus-act-like shows for the people in town, such as daring tricks with charging Pokemon, or using them in theatrical scenes. His father was previously a major battler, well-known for being the first ever Kanto champion in the Indigo League. While Bryan was more interested in his mother's acts, his father often forced him to be like him. Because of this, Bryan was never very close to his father.
One day when Bryan was eight, his mother was run over by a stampede of Rapidash while training for a big show, and died. Under careful watch from his father, though, Bryan quickly got over his loss, and was led into training hard each day with borrowed Pokemon. They trained vigorously for hours each day, when Bryan didn't go to school. When Bryan did have school he had it into the evening, and fantasized being a coordinator or writer afterwards.
On Bryan's sixteenth birthday, he had a long day at school. The lessons were becoming harder, and he had less and less time to think about his other goals. But when he came home, he arrived to a rare occurrence- his father was smiling. Actually grinning from ear to ear. His father had flashed a piece of paper in front of Bryan's face, and lunged at him for a tight squeeze, meant to be a hug. The paper was an order form/permission slip to travel to the region of Ophoore, and start a journey for either a trainer or coordinator. For all of two seconds, Bryan had though it was his chance at last. But then he realized his father's goals...and was snapped back to reality.
He endured his father's excited remarks as his father filled out the paperwork, and in no time, it was in the mailbox, waiting to be sent to the Ophoore region for confirmation. Bryan was miserable. Now he would never get to fulfill his aspiration of a coordinator; instead he'd be molded into his father's own image. And that wouldn't go. Sneaking out in the middle of that night, he grabbed the paper from the mailbox and erased the sloppy circle around 'Badges'. His arm shaking violently, he circled the word 'Ribbons'.
Just a reminder, but: TWO posts are needed for Route 1. When I get three people done with this route then I will put up Beginroot Town. (The Begin part is pronounced like Beggin' (as in short for begging) or like Begin Strips (you know, that one dog food commercial?))
@Sandeon: Eh... I'm glad that you've improved the paragraphs :). Phanphy grew to level 7. Phanphy is trying to learn Flail, but has too many moves to do so. Delete a move for flail? Just tell me at the top of your next post. Keaton obtained TM 47 Steel Wing.
@King: You're accepted... NOW GET POSTING O:< The further behind you get... the more likely it is that you're going to miss the events T^T
It was about halfway through the route when Leon came upon a four way intersection. He looked about for a moment, wondering what adventures the other places would hold, and then pressed on towards Beginroot Town. Leon figured that he'd visit the other towns someday, and that was good enough for him.
Though it was probably still a bit early in the day, Leon was beginning to grow hungry. His stomach was gurgling, but he decided that he wasn't going to stop for a lunch break until he had to. Sadly for him, Leon hadn't really seen any Pokemon that had excited him to the point of capturing, so really all he was doing was walking. Sure, he had seen a couple Rattata, and even a flock of Spearow, but they just weren't cutting it. He didn't have much of an interest in them, even though they might evolve into good and strong Pokemon. Leon shook his head and sighed, mentally cursing his picky personality when it came to things like that.
Not long after his stomach had gurgled the first time, it began to growl. Leon stopped in the middle of the route and looked about, finally spotting a nice grassy patch underneath a little shade that came from one of the trees on the route. He walked over to it and slipped off his pack. Leon set the pack down next to him and then plopped down himself, glad to be in the shade after traveling out in the rather hot sun all day. He took out one of the (now warm) bottles of water in his pack and made a face. Nonetheless, Leon drank it with quite a bit of eagerness. He was thirsty, after all.
Seeing as his water was hot, Leon was sort of fearing for the life of his sandwiches. When he pulled them out though, the ice he had packed around them seemed to work. Leon ripped the ice bag apart over the ground, allowing all of the water to fall there. Then he stuffed the bag into his pack once more. He just wasn't the type to go littering for no reason. It took all of a few seconds for Leon to rip open the bag, and a few more for him to start cramming the food in his mouth. There was no reason for him to be polite, and he was starving. Leon finished the first sandwich in a few moments, and then grabbed the second one. This one he decided to enjoy.
Leon opened his mouth, about to take a chunk out of it, when he felt something brush against his side. He rolled his eyes, figuring it was probably just a hungry Rattata, but was surprised to find a rather spiky pink thing looking at him expectantly. Leon blinked slowly, taking in the almost teal colored insides of the Pokemon's ears. He wasn't quite sure what to do, because when he tried to shove the Pokemon away, it dug its heels in the ground and refused to go anywhere. The Pokemon didn't break eye contact with Leon's food, either.
"You're not getting any," Leon grumbled to it. He took a bite out of his sandwich for emphasis.
The Nidoran (for Leon had seen one of these before, though it was what he assumed the girl version) grunted and pawed at the ground, looking a bit ticked at Leon's declaration.
"Go on now. Go forage for your own food. I got this sandwich by making it fair and square." Leon sort of couldn't believe he was attempting to dignify himself to a Pokemon, but he shrugged it off.
"Nido," the Pokemon declared rather stubbornly. It nudged Leon's side a bit harsher than Leon deemed necesssary. Leon scooted away. The Nidoran trotted closer, a rather evil glint appearing in his eye. Leon glared at it and stood up, grabbing Larvitar's Pokeball as he did. Nidoran cocked his head to the side in a rather curious manner. Oh, so now it decided to play innocent. Of course.
"If you don't scram, I'm going to have Larvitar beat you into the ground," Leon warned, in what he hoped was a rather threatening voice. He couldn't believe he was arguing with a Pokemon, over his sandwich no less! "So are we going to get along, or am I going to have to beat you?"
Nidoran snorted and pawed at the ground, lowering his head and basically brandishing his horn in Leon's direction. Leon decided not to take any chances. This was definitely a challenge, if he had ever seen one. Without another minute's hesitation, Leon tossed Larvitar's Pokeball. The Pokemon appeared in a flash of white light, looking at his foe with determination. Leon had to admit, he liked that about his Pokemon. A tiny smile graced his features. However, before he could have Larvitar whip up a sandstorm or do anything like that, Nidoran launched himself into an outright charge.
"Dodge it, Larvitar!" Leon cried.
Larvitar managed to leap out of the way, skidding on the ground as he did so. Leon knew that Nidoran was faster than Larvitar, but he didn't care. All Leon cared about was winning the battle and, maybe if he was lucky, capturing the little devil. Larvitar got back to his feet as fast as he could, then whipped around towards Nidoran. Nidoran was pawing at the ground again. Leon called for a leer, and Larvitar went into it. Nidoran sort of hesitated at first, but then brought out a move that exactly mirrored Larvitar's. They leered at each other for a few moments, but then Leon had had enough.
"Go for a bite attack!" he shouted, knowing that it would do a bit more damage now that Nidoran's defenses were lowered.
Larvitar blinked, and then ran in again. Nidoran shook himself out of his own leer, and went to dodge. Luckily for Larvitar, he was close enough to where dodging was a bit difficult. Larvitar only managed to get a side swiping bite in, but it was still a hit. Leon praised his Pokemon briefly, and then ordered for a sandstorm. Larvitar spread his arms like he had in the first battle, and soon the winds kicked up. Nidoran looked around, seemingly rather surprised at the turn of events in the weather. Leon's lips twitched into a smirk. That's what the little thing got for trying to steal his sandwich.
Speaking of those. Leon looked at his sandwich, twitching. He saw bits of sand flying into his sandwich, making it a quite literal sandwich. Sighing, Leon shook his head and tossed his sandwich into the bushes. Nidoran's ears perked up and it looked over towards that, giving Larvitar a good shot. Larvitar, without command from Leon, saw an opening and took it. His harsh jaws clamped down on Nidoran's snout. The little purple thing squealed (or attempted to) and shook its muzzle about harshly. Larvitar clamped down harder, making sure he could hold onto the wild Pokemon.
Leon had to admit, that Nidoran had some spunk. With a few more harsh shakes, Larvitar was sent flying off of him. Larvitar skidded back into the ground, shaking himself as he got up. Leon glanced at Nidoran, unsurprised to see that it was looking a little worse off than Larvitar. Leon grabbed his Pokedex, just to check something. Nidoran charged in, lowering his head. Larvitar braced himself, knowing that he couldn't escape from the attack, and got hit directly by the peck attack. Larvitar cried out, wincing effectively. Leon pushed a button, and found that he was right. Nidoran was of a weaker level than Larvitar, which was why he wasn't doing as much damage. Leon figured that if he could make the attack count, he would be able to get Nidoran down and go in with a Pokeball.
"Alright Larvitar, let's finish this one up!" Leon said. He was determined to make this work on either a first or second attempt. "Use a bite attack!"
Nidoran, though faster than Larvitar, was unable to get away fast enough. Larvitar was able to (just barely) latch onto Nidoran's leg, preventing it from going anywhere and making it cry out in pain. Leon didn't like to watch Pokemon get hurt, but he knew it was necessary. "Good job. Now get some leverage and try to make it hit that tree!" Leon called, hoping that it would be over soon, more for Nidoran's sake than his Larvitar's.
Larvitar nodded and swung around once. Then he went around in a circle one more time. Sure, he couldn't get Nidoran very far off the ground or anything, but it was just enough. As he began the third cycle, he released Nidoran and watched him slam his horn into the tree, burying it in there. Nidoran panted harshly as he tried to tug his horn out. Finally it wrenched it out, but fell down just as soon as it did that. Leon watched for a moment, then crouched quickly and grabbed a Pokeball. He looked at Nidoran, unsurprised to find it looking dazed and almost done. Larvitar's sandstorm had abated by now, and Leon knew that it was the perfect time. He threw the Pokeball, watching as the little fighter was engulfed.
It began to shake. Leon watched. "Come on," he whispered as he watched, "if you stay in there, I'll make you some awesome Pokemon food sandwiches."
Standing at the beginning of Route One, Matthew stopped for a moment. This was it, after years of waiting he was at the beginning of his pokémon adventure. Feeling the excitement bubbling up inside him, Matthew took a few deep breaths to steady his nerves before taking the first step onto the Route.
After walking for a short time, Matthew realised that the grass on the Route had gradually been getting longer as he moved further away from the town. The grass had risen above his knees now, and, combined with the heat, was causing the Route to be very hard going. After about half an hour of struggling, a sweaty Matthew noticed a gap in the tall grass.
Finally reaching the gap, Matthew collapsed onto the ground. Panting, he grabbed a bottle of water from his bag. Taking a long swig, Matthew noticed a couple of trainers battling on his left. After watching them battle for a short while, Matthew realised that he still had no idea what pokémon he had chosen back at the lab! Putting the bottle of water back in his bag, Matthew unclipped the pokéball from his belt and released the pokémon that was inside.
A white light erupted from the ball, before beginning to take a shape and solidify. Before Matthew stood what looked like a small green dog with yellow markings around its tail and ears. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the pokémon was the large crest on top of its head, which was almost twice as long as the head itself. Matthew had never seen this pokémon before, and stood motionless wondering what to do.
"Hi, I'm Matt," he stuttered, "I guess I'm going to be your new trainer..."
The small green dog gave Matthew a quizzical look, seemingly surveying its new trainer. Matthew just stood there awkwardly, before remembering the pokédex Professor Cypress had given him earlier. Opening his bag, he began frantically searching for the small red device. Finally he found it, flipped it open and pointed it at his new pokémon.
'Electrike, the lightning pokémon,' chirped the pokédex, 'It stores static electricity in its fur for discharging. It gives off sparks if a storm approaches.'
"And electric type huh?" muttered Matthew, as he scrolled through the information the pokédex had on Electrike. According to Matthew's pokédex his Electrike was a male, and knew the moves Tackle and Thunder Wave. Looking back up at Electrike Matthew couldn't help but smile; he finally had his very own pokémon!
"Well Electrike, looks like me and you are a team!" he said happily.
"Trike," said Electrike, nodding slowly.
Feeling energised, Matthew leapt up and returned Electrike to his pokéball. HE was just about to re-enter the tall grass, when a voice came from behind him.
"Hey kid, was that your Electrike?"
Turning around, Matthew saw a tall well-built young man who looked around his age. He had long blonde hair and sea blue eyes.
"Yeah it was, why do you ask?" Matthew replied.
"Excellent, how about a battle?" asked the blonde haired trainer.
Matthew's heart felt like it skipped a beat, his very first pokémon battle! He could feel the excitement rising within him; he took a deep breath to compose himself.
"Sure sounds fun," he replied as calmly as he could manage, "My names Matt by the way."
"Great! I'm Simon," his opponent replied, "3 on 3 okay with you."
Matthew blanched. "But Electrike is my only pokémon...." he explained.
"Oh, you're a beginner trainer," Simon chuckled, "Sorry I thought you were a REAL trainer. Sorry kid, I don't waste my time on noobs."
With that Simon turned away, still laughing. Matthew felt himself blush as Simon walked away. 'Do all trainers look down on new trainers like that?' he thought worriedly. Matthew decided that he needed to capture a new pokémon, and fast! Making his way back into the tall grass, he began to search out a wild pokémon. For a long time Matthew couldn't find anything, but just as he was about to give up he noticed a flash of pink in the long grass. Certain it was a pokémon, he followed as quickly as the tall grass would allow. Up ahead he could see another clearing, like the one he had taken a break in earlier. The pink creature was heading straight towards it, in a moment he would be able to see what pokémon he had been following. A second later, a small rabbit-like creature burst out of the grass. Realising he would never catch up to the creature in time, Matthew unclipped Electrike's pokéball from his belt and threw it as hard as he could towards the clearing. Electrike burst out of its pokéball just in front of the creature Matthew had been pursuing.
"Electrike make sure that creature stays in the clearing!" Matthew called to his new pokémon.
Nodding, Electrike stood menacingly in front of the smaller creature, blocking any attempts it made to get past. As Matthew reached the clearing, he finally got a good look at the pokémon he had pursued. The first thing that struck him about the pokémon was the dangerous looking horn on its forehead. Pulling out his pokédex, Matthew scanned the pokémon.
'Nidoran Male, the poison pin pokémon,' chimed the machine, 'It raises its big ears to check its surroundings. It will strike first if it senses any danger.'
The wild Nidoran seemed to be looking Matthew up and down, before suddenly it lunged at Electrike and struck the electric type with its horn. Electrike didn't seem too phased by the attack however, and looked up at Matthew for an order.
"Okay Electrike let's start with a tackle!" called Matthew, once again feeling excitement rush through him as he entered his first battle.
Electrike responded to his trainers order and charged towards Nidoran, slamming hard into the small poison type pokémon. The force of the Tackle attack knocked Nidoran back a few steps, but didn't knock the pokémon off its feet. The wild pokémon responded by once again lunging at Electrike with its horn, but again the attack didn't seem to affect the electric type pokémon too much.
"Try another Tackle," called Matthew to Electrike.
Electrike began running towards Nidoran and once again slammed into the poison type pokémon. This time however, the attack knocked the wild pokémon off of its feet and sent it sprawling across the rough ground. The Nidoran was quickly back to its feet though.
"Tackle it again," called Matthew, confidence surging through him.
Once again Electrike charged towards Nidoran. This time however, the wild pokémon was able to move out of the way of its onrushing opponent, before giving Electrike a stern glance in an attempt to intimidate the electric type pokémon.
"Don't worry about it Electrike," said Matthew encouragingly, "Use Thunder Wave on Nidoran to keep it in place!"
A few sparks of electricity formed around Electrikes fur, before on shot towards Nidoran. The weak electric charge connected with the wild pokémon, whose movements instantly looked more laboured.
"Okay now's our chance Electrike!" pronounced Matthew, "Use Tackle to end this!"
Electrike began charging at his helpless opponent. Slamming his shoulder into Nidoran, Electrike knocked the wild pokémon firmly to the ground. Matthew excitedly unclipped a pokéball from his belt and threw it at Nidoran, the ball hit and sucked the poison pokémon inside. Matthew bit his lip, as he watched anxiously watching the pokéball shake back and forth...
