False, I've caught about 15 shiny's I think. Maybe a little less, maybe a little more.

The person below me has never yelled really loud, when your pokemon dies because of confusion, and hurting itself nearly 3 times in a row.
 
True, confusion isn't really a bad thing. I haven't be killed by it for a looooooooong time.

TPBMHN caught a shiny Graveler (it used Selfdestruct in my Platinum, should've used Master Ball)

TPBMHNEEEEEEEE.....! Beaten the elite four and then right after you get your pokemon in the hall of fame the gameboy/ds/dsi/dsixl turns off.
 
False. I would so hate that. I always plug my DS in after beating the E4 just to be safe.
