After finally getting through victory road with my severely underleveled team I lost to Barry so I trained mu luxray like two levels and beat him. I went through victory road saving before every elite four member and only had trouble with the psychic and ground. I am going to use the rest of my rare candies if I have any and will fight the champion

Nah I won't be doing ultimate :) I cannot seem to find gen 2 games that wouldn't freeze on me/give me black screens every few minutes so I'd basically be able to do all games but 2nd and 6th gen x.x So I am doing few singles instead ^^

OK, well the rule can still apply, it doesnt require that you play all the games. And you can use Heartgold/SoulSilver for Gen 2

Picked Charmander.
beat JScott.
got oak'oak's parcel and delivered it to the man himself and got a Pokedex for my trouble.
Trained Charmander up to level ten.
Cleared the forest.
Beat JScott.
Beat Brock and got the Gym badge.
Cleared route 3, cleared Mt. Moon and got a fossil for my trouble.
Beat JScott.
Cleared the nugget bridge and beat the rocket grunt.
caught Weed (Oddish).
Trained it to 17 then used my two rare candies on it and get it to 19.
Cleared route 24 & 25 and raised Weed to 22 and Weed evolved into Gloom.
Cleared route 6 and Weed grew to 24.
Beat Misty and got the Gym badge
Caught Dusk (Absol) through gameshark
Raised Dusk to 23 and raised Weed to 26.

It's taken me 3+ weeks to get the first 8 badges in Complex Crystal, but I've finally finished.

I'm completing Johto in one update.
UPDATE #1

January 5: I get my team of:
Crobat
Dragonite
Tauros

Misdreavus

I felt it was only fair that I got to use fully evolved mons from the beginning because this game (or hack) is extremely difficult. Dragonite did well in the early routes.

FALKNER (Badge #1)
-Unaware of how hard this game would actually be, I went straight for Falkner without grinding after Sprout Tower.
-With Dragonite and Steelix, I was able to win despite the rest of my team fainting.

-Union Cave stuff. The Trainers are pretty hard as well.
-Slowpoke Well, beat Zubats with Crobat.

BUGSY (Badge #2)
-I didn't do any grinding here either, and easily beat Bugsy with Tauros and Dragonite.

RIVAL (Azalea City)
-Difficult fight. The hack gives him Dratini, Eevee and a few other good Pokemon. His Starter Quilava was a pain.

-Traveled to Goldenrod!

WHITNEY (Badge #3)
-The biggest challenge of the game so far was grinding to beat Whitney. The hack gives her a Lv.~25 Persian and a Lv.28 Miltank. My team is all Lv.19 at this point, so an intense amount of grinding was done.
-Luck and a few Rollout misses saved me, and Tauros' Headbutt flinches were great.

RIVAL (Burned Tower in Ecruteak)
-Pretty much the same team, and all of that boring grinding paid off here.
-Teaching Vaporeon Surf was one of the most useful moves for this challenge.

MORTY (Badge #4)
-EVEN MORE GRINDING! The segment between Whitney and Morty took me about 3 days alone.
-I got really lucky to beat Morty also. Big help from Crobat and Misdreavus, whose Screech/Confuse Ray tactic came up clutch. I taught Misdreavus Shadow Ball after winning.

CHUCK (Badge #5)
-A stupidly long amount of time was used in grinding for Chuck. My Pokemon were severely underleveled here, so I needed to get them back to speed.
-Credit to Tauros's Headbutt for singlehandedly defeating everything in the Cianwood Gym.
-Chuck's Poliwrath is a scary Lv.40, but Hypnosis misses helped my team beat it.

JASMINE (Badge #6)
Not much grinding in this segment, and this decision would make the game even harder on my team.
-Steelix wraps up Jasmine's Steelixs and Magneton with Dig.

Now I'm forced to grind, Pryce's Pokemon are Lv.50s while mine are barely in the 40s.
A side note: Complex Crystal really improves the silly level curve from the orginal GSC. Pryce would have had Lv.37s but instead has 50s.

PRYCE (Badge #7)
-Dragonite's Fire and Thunderpunches were useful here. Because of DNite's 4x Ice Weakness I had to use Vaporeon and Tauros.

I had to go back to Goldenrod to fight the Rockets and my Rival.

RIVAL (Goldenrod Department Store Basement)
-He has Dragonair, Typhlosion, Flareon and others. Tough matchup.
-Vaporeon's Aurora Beam and Surf help out.

I was surprised to find that the Rocket Executive had Lv.57s! My Pokemon were nearly 10 levels behind but still won.

CLAIR (Badge #8)
This game makes Clair the Dragon Master she thinks she is (No, really). I had to grind again in preparation for her Dragons.
-Vaporeon and Steelix covered her Kingdra and the Dratini line very well. I couldn't use my own Dragonite because it would get Ice Beamed and Outraged to death.

-Grind one last time for the Elite Four. My team is in the Lv.60 range before Victory Road.

WILL
-Misdreavus' Shadow Ball does heavy damage on his Psychic types. Not very hard.

KOGA
-I try to use Crobat, but have to use Dragonite to finish the battle.

BRUNO
-Crobat solos this battle with Fly. His Onixs are replaced with Hitmons, so this one went pretty smoothly.

KAREN
-Tauros does a great job this battle. Thrashing, Earthquaking and Strengthing to the win.

LANCE
Here it is. It's time to be Johto Champ! I've played for 32 hours in-game until now, and I was eager to win.

His team was HARD. Even his Gyarados was above Lv.70. Dragonite, Tauros and Vaporeon were great in this battle. It took a lot of Revives and a lot of attacks because Lance kept healing his Pokemon! Johto down, Kanto coming up. I can't wait to see how hard Kanto will be!

I'm just going to say right now that I've been challenged with this Persona Challenge. Cool idea and I've gotten to use Pokemon I never formally used in a playthrough before. However, it's far from over and there is still more badges to claim. I'll keep you guys updated!

Complex Crystal FINAL UPDATE #2

I finish Kanto and Red.

Spoiler:

-After defeating the Champion, my team is Lv.65. I have to grind yet again to prepare for the increased Kanto Gym leaders.

As I have Pokemon that know Earthquake, I challenge Lt. Surge first.

SURGE (Badge #9)
-I only used Steelix and Tauros in this fight, because they both know Earthquake. Easy fight.

I challenge Erika next.

ERIKA (Badge #10)
-I use Dragonite and Crobat for their STAB Flying type attacks. Erika's Pokemon are in the 70's but that did not matter.

Janine is next.

JANINE (Badge #11)
-I use Misdreavus (now knows Psychic!) and the two Earthquake users for this fight, which like the other Gym Leaders, goes easily.

Now I face Sabrina. The time between these badges is very quick, so i don't need to go in detail very much.

SABRINA (Badge #12)
-Misdreavus solos. STAB Shadow Ball takes out all of her Pokemon with ease.

I do the Power Plant event and then face Misty.

MISTY (Badge #13)
-I use Dragnite because it knows Thunderpunch, even though Dragonite is not the best choice because her Pokemon know Ice Beam. I use the rest of my team minus Steelix to finish her. It could've gone worse, but I won.

-Snorlax snagged. Off to Pewter.

BROCK (Badge #14)
-Vaporeon. Surf. GG.

Off to Cinnabar!!!

Talked to Blue, then went to Seafoam Island to challenge Blaine.

BLAINE (Badge #15)
-Vaporeon and Tauros took out Blaine with ease.

And back to Veridian to fight Blue. He was pretty hard.

BLUE (Badge #16)
-My Pokemon are mid 80's at this point, Blue's Pokemon are at Lv.90. Presumably, Red's Pokemon are at Lv.100.
-This hack replaced Blue's default team for a few other Pokemon including Ledian for some reason. As Blue has no specialty or type, I had to use my entire team for this one. Tough game, but I won.

Now for the last grinding session of the game. I wass okay with this because didn't want to lose to Red. Leveling my Pokemon to Lv.90 would be enough.

RED
-Here it is. All the grinding was done for this one fight.

Red's team in Complex Crystal:

Tyranitar
Blastoise
Venusaur
Charizard
Snorlax
Lapras

I was expecting Pikachu, so I sent in Steelix (immune to Electric). When I found out it
was TTar, I used Iron Tail. Surprisingly, he switched Tyranitar for Charizard. Charizard made me switch to Dragonite, whose Thunderpunch 2HKO'd it.

Next came Venusaur, so i kept DNite out there to Wing Attack and 2 hit KO.

Back to Tyranitar. I switched in Vaporeon, whose Hydro Pump finished it in one.

Up next: Lapras. What a pain in the neck! Red used three Full Restores to keep Lapras on the field. I had Tauros Thrash it and after three turns, Lapras was no more.

I had Tauros stay out there for Snorlax. Two Strengths and a Thrash finally defeated it.

And finally, Blastoise. I sent in Dragonite to Thunderpunch it. Poor Dragonite faced a Blizzard. Misdreavus came in as the closer.

With Blastoise at half HP, Shadow Ball was able to faint Blastoise in two. Game, set and match!

This challenge was a blast! My team was pretty good altogether. I had Speed (Crobat), Attack Power(Dragonite, Tauros), Special Attackers(Vaporeon, Misdreavus), and a Tank (Steelix).

But are they really my Persona? Well I'd never use Steelix in a playthrough if not for this challenge. I like Vaporeon, Dragonite and Tauros a lot though!

well you can just postpone it until you feel like continuing, do the challenge at your own pace, whenever you decide to continue you can do another update
