Dante

After the speech, Dante's stomach started rumble for a bit and so did Rufflet's stomach. So, Dante decided to get a little something to eat for him and Rufflet. On the way over to the table, Dante noticed what looks like a boy was talking to himself. Though Dante found it a bit funny, he could help but chuckle the sight.

Rumble...

"Man, I'm still hungry", Dante said to Rufflet. "Come on, Rufflet. Let's get something to eat."

"Ruff", cried Rufflet in a happy tone.

"Good, let continue to the table", said Dante, still walking to the table with the food. Stopping at the table, Dante sniffed at the food. "Mmm, smells good."

At that moment, while holding a roll, Dante remembered in the speech that there was something about battles. Mostly from seeing a boy with black hair in a yellow jacket called out a Porygon to battle the boy that was talking to himself. With seeing that, Dante walked over to the battlefield to watch the match while eating the roll.

Thyme

Thyme sat boredly on Mark's shoulder as he sent out Commadore. There was a face she hadn't seen in a while. She looked over at Snype. Hm...

"What? You thinking of jumping in there? Heheheh, this should be interesting. Let's see what crazy battle style the crazy boy has cooked up," she said with a smirk.

"A Porygon huh? Doesn't change my plan! Arcino! Let's take them out!" Quin said as he sent out a Grovyle. Thyme glanced at him, then began staring. She had never seen a grass type like him before! It was very distracting to say the least. She sat there looking at him, her mouth slightly open. She was a little unsure why she reacted this way. After all, she had Snype. She liked Snype!

Quincy

Quin looked out at the Porygon Mark sent out. That made things... No different what so ever! He had plans. He had ideas. He had ploys. Zara may be the better battler, but that didn't mean Quin was bad. This would be a fight to remember!

"A Porygon huh? Doesn't change my plan! Arcino! Let's take them out!" Quin said as he sent out Arcino. The Grovyle looked at Commadore a little boredly. Then he assumed his battle position. He was well aware of the snivy oogling him, but was unconcerned right now. He had a battle to win.

"Let's start out with Energy Ball!" Quin said excitedly. Just from the tone of his voice, Arcino knew it was Quin and not Zara commanding him. Good. Quin needed the experience. Arcino prompty did as asked, firing the bright green ball of energy right at Commadore.

A Grovyle... well it should hopefully be a fair battle. Even if this thing has some kind of trick behind its sleeve then conversion could always get him to change type. Grovyle started off by using Energy Ball. With ease, Commodore floated out of the way of the attack. Unfortunately for Commodore, the ability he traced off Arcino wouldn't help him all too much. Time to start off with a good boost in power...

"Alright Commodore, Charge Beam!" Mark called out. Commodore fired off a current of electricity toward Arcino and powered up his own abilities in the process from the charge.

Quincy

"Humph. Slow!" Arcino said gruffly as he twisted out of the way of the attack. Quite gracefully at that. Quin grinned. It was funny that Arcino was his strongest pokemon. The little guy had been quite funny as a Treecko.

"Brick Break!" Quin shouted merrily. He wasn't exactly taking this seriously. He was loving it! He was reveling in the fact that he had everyone's eyes on him! It was almost as good as when he told people the truth about... Well, about everything. And nearly as useful, because knowing what was going to happen was useless if you weren't tough enough to stop it. And he was going to be.

Arcino charged at Commodore. His leaves on his arms had extended, and they were glowing a pure white as he dashed in and swung them at Commodore. Arcino was very fast. He hoped that Commodore wouldn't be able to dodge this.

Commodore got hit pretty hard by the attack. It was a heck of hit and left a good dent on Commodore. Though Mark wasn't worried. He had a backup in case he was faced by these kinds of attacks. Normal type wasn't going to cut it... so it was time to change it up a bit.

"Commodore! Use Conversion!" Mark called out. Since Charge beam was the last move he used, Commodore turned into an electric type. His color became Yellow and White. Being a Pure electric type, Mark could use Charge beam to its full extent.

"Alright Commodore! Charge Beam once more!" Mark said. Once again, Commodore charged up his attack. With the boost in his electric typing as well as the boost that Charge beam gave his own abilities, the attack ended up being much stronger then before.

Quincy

Arcino was hit hard by the Charge Beam. However, he was a grass type, so it wasn't as strong as it could have been. Still, it could be worse.

"Synthesis! Then use Crunch!" Quin yelled out. Arcino stood tall and absorbed the power of the light around him, glowing a faint green as he was healed. Then he dashed right for Commodore, his mouth pulsating with dark power. He leapt to the right, instead of attacking head on, and tried to bite into Commodore's head.

Thyme

Thyme continued to stare at this grovyle as the battle progressed. She had never seen a grass type that powerful! That awesome! That... That good looking. No, she must not think like that. What would Snype say if he caught her like this? He'd... Either be really jealous, because that is what she would do, or he'd make jokes and laugh it off. Hm... Regardless, she found herself enraptured by the Grovyle and the way he was battling. Well, maybe just the Grovyle... Maybe...

Mark noticed that Quincy was resorting to a healing move... Mark figured he may as well counter with one of his own! Commodore had recently learned this move but hadn't tried it out yet. Grovyle launched forward to stick its teeth right into Commodore.

"Woah! Watch out Commodore!" Mark called out. Commodore got hit head on by the bite though unfortunately and left bite marks on Commodore.

"Commodore! Recover!" Mark said. With an instant, The Bite Marks on Commodore faded away, and Commodore felt refreshed. Though Recover wasn't something he could constantly use and Recover didn't recover all wounds.

"Lets change it up a bit! Psybeam!" Mark said.

Commodore shot out beam of psychic rings toward Arcino. A small chance of confusion was possible but that was usually pretty rare.

Snype

Snype was fairly impressed with how Commodore had changed in his battle style. The school really did help him get better. He glanced over to Thyme and noticed she was really into the battle... she hadn't taken her eyes off of it at all yet...

Hailey got on the train. "Well, we're finally here. Back in hell. Back to the horrible place called Kanto." Hailey said to herself. Hailey felt Sparks move inside her bag. "Fine, I'll let you out." Hailey said. Sparks came out, looking like he had just seen a horror film. "What's wrong with you?" Hailey asked, the slightest bit of a laughing tone in her voice. "Ugh..." Sparks replied.

---

Hailey then departed the train with the other students. "At least we're in Saffron City. But trust me, Sparks, my parents will know about this." Hailey said. Hailey had, does, and always will hate her parents. Hailey was excited about one thing, though. Maybe she could catch more pokemon. No... She didn't even have a pokeball for Sparks. "Hey, cheer up. We probably won't be here long." Sparks said. "Ugh... Fine." Hailey replied.

(OOC: What's this about resorting to a healing move? If you had it and took a powerful attack like that would you not use it? Oh wait, you did. XD

Quincy

What? Why did he cut that out? Well, it wasn't exactly working, now was it? So... Mark had switched tactics. Time for Quin to do the same. Time to really mess with him a bit.

"Arcino! Use Energy Ball right there!" Quin said pointing at Commodore. But of course, that was only a diversion. Arcino knew the rest of this ploy, having practiced it a lot. He fired the Energy Ball at Commodore, taking the Psybeam. Thankfully, the added effect did not kick in. Arcino then used his tremendous speed to rush around behind Commodore while he was distracted by the attack, setting up his next move.

Commodore was able to get his attack to hit but Arcino's Energy Ball had also hit him. Once Commodore got hit, he noticed that Arcino was gone, completely unaware that he was behind him. Mark fortunately noticed what tactic was going on.

"Commodore behind you! Agility!" Mark called out. Commodore increased his speed to hopefully rival Arcino's. He managed to zoom out of the way and turn to face his opponent.

Quincy

Mark had no idea what he was doing. Raising Commodore's speed didn't matter for the attack that Arcino had prepared. Arcino swung his arms and the leaves had turned into glowing blue-white blades. Aerial Ace. An auto hit move, provided Commodore didn't know a protection move, like Protect. Granted, he had been about to use Crunch, but being able to react quickly was Arcino's specialty.

"Don't let up! Keep on him and use Crunch again!" Quin shouted to Arcino. Zara was actually being quiet. Thank goodness for that. It would have been awfully distracting if he was chattering in Quin's ear as he usually did. Arcino dashed toward Commodore and tried to bite him again with the dark energy. Then, regardless of whether he hit or not, he leapt over the Porygon, ready to follow up with yet another attack. Quin wondered if he would even be able to use Logana or Zemda. Arcino was very tough, after all. But even he couldn't go forever. Quin could see he was tiring. But it wasn't to the point where his movement would suffer... Yet. He wondered if Mark would be able to notice.

Thyme

Thyme was still watching Arcino. But she felt something in her mind yelling at her. She finally tuned it in, and looked over at Snype. She smiled at him, still trying to get Arcino out of her mind.

"Some battle, right Snype?" she asked in a dreamy sort of voice. She turned back to the battle in front of her, waiting on Snype's reply.

Despite his increase speed, He was still hit by Arcino's next attack, Arial ace. with it, he managed to catch up and hit him, but he was able to dodge the following crunch attack with his increased speed but only barely. Mark didn't really have much of a strategy at this point. Right now it was a matter of who would stay standing first...

"Commodore! Psybeam once more!" Mark called out as Commodore obeyed and fired another psychic projectile at his Arcino. Commodore was tireing as well... but he had confidence. He wasn't going to let his trainer down a third time!

Snype

"Yeah. Commodore sure has grown quite a bit but he's holding his own pretty well against Arcino... the battles only just beginning though of course." Snype replied as he turned back to watch the battle commence.

Quincy

"Now! Crunch!" Quin shouted. This idea was just crazy enough to work, that's why he thought of it. Arcino Closed his jaws in front of the Psybeam, and it impacted harmlessly on the dark energy. But what Quin hadn't thought of was that the secondary effect kicked in. So, Arcino had blocked the attack with one of his own, but it had still made contact. Quin seemed unperturbed.

"Arcino! Aerial Ace now!" Quin said with a wild gesture, almost as if he was the one using the move. Arcino tried, but he tripped over his own feet and fell on his face due to the confusion. Quin frowned slightly. That was not good. Arcino had damaged himself.

Thyme

Seeing Arcino fall flat on his face sort of snapped her out of it. She stopped gawking so much after that. She looked at Snype and smiled warmly.

"Yeah, Commodore is awesome! And Arcino... He's..." Thyme said. She should not talk about Arcino, lest she say something that she might regret.

"Yes, the battle has just begun. I wonder who will win," Thyme said. She knew who would win if Snype was out there. Hm... Anyways, she turned back to the battle.

Mark

Commodore would have laughed at Arcino for tripping over if he could. Since he was just a program pokemon he really couldn't express those feelings other then changing his eyes. Time to mess with it a little more... It was still anyone's battle.

"Alright Commodore, let's get up close and personal! Tackle!" Mark called out. while physical attacks weren't commodores specialty, this would be a good chance to lead into another projectile attack at point blank range. Problem now though was he was an easy target. Commodore moved in and attempted to Ram into Arcino.

Snype

Snype wondered why Thyme stopped talking after she mentioned Arcino. Odd... well... he decided to ignore it. It was probably nothing. Snype did chuckle a bit when Arcino tripped. Good going Commodore...

Valorie's Post

Meanwhile, Valorie watched Mark battle silently. After a bit something occurred to her. Why was she standing here watching? Shouldn't she herself be battling? Valorie looked around her briefly. There were students everywhere. It wasn't like she didn't have people to choose from. Yet... who did she pick? Where did she start? Valorie just sort of turned her back and surveyed the crowd silently, trying to figure out who she should challenge.

"..."

Dragonair was a bit unnerved by how many people there were around. She had been around lots of people sure, but this was a /lot/ more than she was used to. Regardless, she felt she could handle this. She just needed to... ignore the stares. She glanced down at Valorie, wondering what her trainer was up to in the midst of the chaos, only to find her trainer silently gazing off into the distance as if she had spaced out. Dragonair lowered her head down and nudged Valorie lightly.

Valorie was nudged and taken a bit by surprise to find Dragonair looking down at her, a bit concerned. It seemed like something might be bothering her, so Valorie took a deep breath and opened her arms to invite Dragonair for a hug. Dragonair promptly floated lower so that Valorie could give her a hug on her nose. It seemed to help Dragonair deal with whatever was bothering her. Valorie then turned her attention back to the other students, finding herself questioning why this was such a hard decision to make.

Quincy

Quin looked on as Arcino got to his feet, only to be slammed into by the Tackle. Arcino grumbled and tried to bite Commodore with Crunch, his mouth glowing with dark power.

"Arcino! You've got this!" Quin yelled encouragingly to the Grovyle. He looked over at Mark. Mark was a good battler. Quin wondered if all of the students here were as good. He felt a little inadequate himself, but then again, that was why he came here. To get better. That way he wouldn't have to rely on Zara to defend him.

Commodore got munched on by Arcino, and this time it didn't miss, despite the confusion. Commodore was already tired enough as is... with his last attack, Commodore fell to the ground and fainted, though releaved that it wasn't as bad as the last match.

"Ah! Commodore!" Mark called out, rather upset that he had ended up the same way as the last battle... with a sigh, he returned commodore to his pokeball. He had to give Arcino some credit, he was pretty agile compared to Commodore. Mark really needed to train Commodore a little more... think of some more strategys...

"Well looks like round one goes to you Quin!" Mark said as he reached for another pokeball...

Quincy

"Heh, you're pretty good there Mark! Hah, this is gonna get even better, I know it!" Quin said with a smile. Arcino shook his head, but he was still kind of loopy. He had gotten lucky that he had hit Commodore. He looked around and stood still, panting from the excercise and all the damage. He would not last much longer, and he knew it. Well, at least he could soften up whoever came next.

Thyme

"Whoa! Did you see that? Arcino won!" Thyme said as she grinned at Snype. She wondered who Mark was going to send out next. This was really a good fight. And Arcino was amasing. Though... He probably couldn't hold a candle to Snype. Being pretty to look at isn't everything. She could tell he didn't have thatr much strength left. He seemed to wear out as fast as she did in battles.

Mark

Mark though about who to send out next... he was considering sending out Snype... nah maybe not... he wanted his other pokemon to get some fighting experience. Snype would surely understand... Then he decided to take another chance. He reached for Able's ball and threw it out to the battle field. The hyperactive bug was zooming around all over the place taunting his opponent.

Snype

"Yeah... Commodore hasn't been doing to well lately. Wonder whats up with him..." Snype wondered. With Commodores accessive moves, he figured that Commodore would do great in battles! Maybe something else was on its mind... his train of thought was put to a halt when Able was sent out. Oh geez...

"Thyme, just a warning. Cover your ears when I give the signal. This girl is really loud..." Snype said.

Xavier

Xavier swalloed the remainder of his pastry as the other held outstretched to Valorie, dangled loosely.

Perhaps she had not heard him? She seemed entranced with something and hugged her dragonair after a moment of staring around the room.

"Ummmm... I'll take that as a no then." Josh said, he threw the danish up in the air and Maria jumped up and grabbed it, guzzling it down like liquid. She had an afinity for sweet things.

Xavier watched Mark and the strange boy, Quinn, battle. They fought with the spirit and will he had come to expect from other trainers and seeing them battle got him hyped.

He scanned the room in search of an opponent. The room was packed with students and all of them looked strong. Josh didn't know where to begin. Suddenly a boy knocked into him and sent him sprawling on the floor. The boy didn't apologise or even recognise Xaviers precense he just kept walking. As Xavier lifted himself up Maria grabbed the assaulters trouser leg and stopped him from dragging her off.

"Get off me you stupid rodent!" The boy said shaking his leg.

"Don't you dare talk to her like that you prude!" Xavier said, he was stood up now.

"Oh great another loser for me to beat... what, you want to battle?" The boy said tiresomley.

"With you? Not worth the effort, I like my oponents to be honourable and you sir are not." Xavier said lifting Maria up.

"What are you afraid?" The boy asked.

"No, I'm just not bothered battling the likes of..." Xavier stopped as Maria tugged at his sleeve from his arms.

She had a look of determination and spirit in her eyes.

"Hmmmm... Alright then." Xavier said.

"I accept your challenge!" Xavier cried a little over-dramatically.

"Alright then lets go." The boy said leading the way to a plain dirt battlefield, with the general ligns marked out at the edges and center.

***

Maria

Maria walked alongside her trainer as they walked towards the battlefield.

She was glad he had listened to her, she didn't like being pushed around, she was nice most of the tim but when it came to those she cared about and her own dignity and respect she was very determined to defend both of the formentioned and would esily dessert her usual personality if the need arised.

She stood in front of her trainer on the battlefield as the he faced his opponent. They decided on a simple three on three single battle style and prepared for the battle ahead.

***

Xavier & Maria

"Whats your pokemon then?" The arogant trainer asked.

"Im using my Eevee Maria." Xavier replied calmly.

"Alrighty then... Lets go Sawk!" The trainer flung his pokeball to reveal the blue martial arts pokemon who was the first to fight.

Maria winced a little as the fighting type pokemon came out, it was a bad matchup but she would try her best.

"Now Sawk, Low kick!" The fighting pokemon dropped low and swung its leg towards Maria.

"Dodge Maria!" Xavier cried.

Maria leapt through the air and landed a small distance away.

"Maria now tail whip!" Maria ran forward and smacked her tail off the sawks face causing him to stagger backwards and lower his defenses.

"Tackle!" Xavier commanded.

Maria ran and plunged herself full force into Sawks stomach knocking him back and doin significant damage due to hi lowered defenses. However in abattle theres no time to relax.

In not ime at all the next order was bellowed and Maa was set lying backwards from a karate chop.

Sawk came charging again and Maria focused herself and waited for her trainers commands.

"Now sweet kiss!" Josh cried.

Maria span away from Sawks attacks causing him to slip and fall. Maria took her chance and pecked Sawk on the cheek.

Sawks next order was bellowed but the confused pokemon simply punched himself in the face in confusion. However Sawk was quick to come to and a drain puch was launched at Maria. On Xaviers order hower she dodged however was then unprepard ora low kick which shot her backwards.

The rude trainer smiled however stopped when he saw Xavier smiling to.

"Now Maria like we practised!" Xavier cried.

Maria span in the air and used a quick attack to go faster. Stopping Sawk from being able to hit her, as soon as she landed her built up speed launched her forward directly into Sawks gut. The fighting pokemon was knocked back and fell to the ground Ko'd. Maria was exhausted however so Xavier returned her.

"Not bad!" The other trainer shouted.

"But no more mister nice guy." the trainer sent out his next pokemon, a chancy and Xavier, hoping for his own type matchup this time, sent out Riley. This was Rileys first battle in against a non-wild pokemon so he hoped he would be alright, he seemed however bursting with energy and excitement.

Xavier & Riley

This time Xavier got the first move and he quickly shouted at Riley for a quick attack, Riley did as he was told and charged into the chansey. It didn't do much damage but it more so that Riley could get closer to his target.

The chansey unleashed a double slap however and Riley was repeatedly smacked back and forth. Through the multiple blows however Riley heard his masters order for a low kick then karate chop.

As chansyey leaned in to hit Riley again he ducked low matrix style and swiped with his leg, knocking chansey on its back. He then leaped up and brought a karate chop down on its stomach. Riley bounced back as the injured chansey pulled itself up. Riley ran into another karate chop however fell over halfway through.

Josh was totally baffled until he realised the chansey was singing a quick egg bomb was all it took to finish Riley off and Xavier returned him to his pokeball as he was swiftly knocked out.

The two trainers said nothing but Xaviers oponent had a slight smirk.

Xavier & Blaze

Xavier launched his last pokeball up into the air and Blaze sat in an upright position. His head tilited high as the chansey ran at him.

"Now Blaze Flamethrower!" The fire pokemon launched a stream of flame but the chansey leapt out of the way.

In anger Blaze fired flamethrower after flamethrower at the Chansey but it kept dodging.

Fueled by an iresistable burning spirit of anger and fire in his gut and a strong knowing and willing to get closer to the chansey while attacking Blaze instinctively rolled into a ball and covered itself in flame. He rolled towards the chansey at an exhilerating speed.

Blaze collided and burnt the chanseys entire front side, it didn't completely finish it off but the damage from the burn made it cringe for just long enough for Xavier to make his move.

"Alright Blaze you learned flame wheel!" This is when Xavier saw his chance.

"Now Blaze Flame wheel once more!" Blaze rolled towards the chansey at incredible speed. The chansey had no time to move, however as a last ditch effort bomber style move it used an egg bomb as Blaze collided taking away about half his health. It was Xaviers opponets final pokemon and an Arbok was sent out as the opponent.

"Great another worm..." Blaze grunted.

"I'll constrict your throat you pitiful pokemon." The arbok went for Blaze with a bind at his masters command and grabbed Blaze around the neck.

Blaze smiled.

"Now Blaze fire fang!" Xavier cried.

Blaze charged his fangs full of flaming energy and buried them in the arboks body.

The arbok was forced to release out of pain. However he wasn't down yet, suddenly an unexpected poison tail was launched and Blaze was down for the count.

He managed to half stand up however he had been poisoned by the last move and was taken out by it before he could react further. Xavier withdrew Blaze and sent out Maria to face their final opponent.

Xavier & Maria

There were no words or expressions between trainers this time, it was just them, their pokemon and the battlefield.

"Alright Maria! Quick attack!" Maria charged and jumped at the Arbok.

"Arbok Crunch!" The snake pokemon made a quick bite for Maria however she barely managed to move and plow herself down on the arboks head, a poison tail however came up from behind and pinned Maria to the ground by her neck.

"Arbok... Crunch her!" Arbok glared over maria and bore its fangs. It brought its head down and it looked like it was over but Maria quickly focused the energy of a tackle into her front paws and shoved the arboks glowing purple poison tail into its own mouth. The Arbok screamed in pain and was launched backwards by its own crunch and poison tail.

"Now finish it Maria!!!" Xavier cried.

Maria nodded and used quick attack to plough herself into the Arbok and knock it back with a spectacular knockout

Maria

Maria stood beaten and tired as her opponents limp body lay knocked out a few feet away from her. That was a very close call, she was glad that Xavier had trainedher not to panic in situations like that. She sat down she was panting heavily and she could tell her HP was incredilously low. She felt ready to pass out but Xavier was beside her in an instant. He sprayed a hyper potion on her and she felt herself almost instantaeneously rejuvinate.

Xavier smiled at her and she smiled back as she was returned to the peace and relaxation of her pokeball.

Xavier

Xavier stood up and smiled as Maria was returned to her pokeball. The other trainer had fallen to his knees at his position on the field as soon as he returned his Arbok.

"I don't understand... I just don't understand... I never lose, how did I lose?" He murmured.

"Well thats simple... you're a jerk." Xavier said plain as day, no sugarcoating, no hiding for niceness sake.

"W...What?!" The boy shouted enraged.

"You don't care about others and by the cruel and unfrogiving way you battled I don't think you care much about your pokemon either..." Xavier said.

"Honestly I'm surprised you've won any battles at all." Xavier turned around, raised his hand and looked over his shoulder as he walked away.

"People like you don't win because you don't deserve to."

The other trainer was left open-mouthed as Xavier left.
