For those who were wondering what the Pokemon planet looks like, we can see it quite well in the last BW episode. Sorry for the bad picture quality.




[Edit] Nevermind what follows; I was completely wrong ;).

As you can see, Africa is clearly on the left which means Unova is probably
in America (but south?). Only Africa looks clear though; everything else are blobs xD. As you can see, there is a giant Pokeball in the middle of what would be the southern part of Canada and northern part of the US lol. That looks really silly!

Woah that's funny. I'm pretty sure we can see these as continents from space. I just took a screenshot: that's why I thought these were the whole planet:



Alright, so Unova is as big as 3 continents while it should be smaller than a country shouldn't it? That makes much sense! /sarcasm Sorry for my mistake, I was simply comparing the scales and the illustrators managed to draw it badly :P. Just look, we can see the Pokeball bridges from space wtf xD.

I still believe that Gens 1-4 took took place in Japan while Unova is the Pokemon world's counterpart to New York City. I really don't think the anime maps are trustworthy. As mentioned before, they tend to be at a real awkward scale, plus it's inconsistent. Sometimes the world is identical to Earth. Just wait, the anime map will change in the 6th generation.
