you've finally defeated the Elite Four, and the Champion, so now:

what do you typically do in the postgame? Do you follow the continuation of the story, do you seek out better Pokémon, shiny hunt, challenge the Battle areas, or something else? What do you think of the postgames in general, and which has been your favorite so far?

also, would you prefer it if postgames were lengthened? what sorts of content/areas would you like to see added?

I usually start training Pokemon to level 50 for runs at whatever the copy and past postgame battle facility is, and then get bored of that and start doing runs of previous games in the series instead.

Post-Game I normally Shiny Hunt and use the Battle Facilities in Post-Game. In BW2 I play in the PWT a lot and the White Treehollow is welcome to along with an extra area of Unova to explore. For me Gen 5 has the best Post-Game.

I'd like to say I'd like Post-Game story content but given how terrible the Delta Episode was where you chase after the charmless Zinnia I'm inclined to think they may as well have not bothered and just given us a Battle Facility that's better than the out of place maison.

Sun/Moon is a step in the right direction with the Ultra Beasts storyline, the fun but somewhat luck based Battle Royal, a straightforward Shiny Hunting Method in SOS calling and the Battle Tree which while starting off harder than it should be is far better than the Maison. It's not as good as the Gen 5 post game but is a big improvement on Gen 6s.

i really need to start shiny hunting!!

But really, I just tend to explore areas training up my team and rematching the Elite Four. I think with games like HGSS where we get to explore an extra region is a good example of what postgame should be like. Obviously, they can't go slapping a second region onto every game, but if we at least got some new areas within the same region to explore only after becoming Champion, that would be nice.

It's usually a struggle between completing the podedex or continuing with post game story
after all thats done I start breeding and shiny hunting

Continue post-game stuff, training also try to struggling compete the dex

After beating the Elite Four and Champion, I usually go on to finish whatever is in the post-game, but also may take the time to take care of some "odds and ends" that I didn't get to before challenging the League, whether it be catching Pokémon that I didn't get before, evolving Pokémon that I had stored that couldn't be found in the wild when evolved, among some others.

I usually challenge the battle areas and follow the continuation of the story - if there is one. I end up shiny hunting sooner or later, although I prefer the methods that don't require too much effort lmao.

My favourite post-game was HGSS's, I love the post-games that allow us to travel and explore new areas, so obviously going back to Kanto was big to me. I played Crystal and was able to rexplore Kanto then, but all the legendary Pokemon available post-game in HGSS makes it, imo, the best post-game there is. Unfortuntaely, we haven't seen this sort of thing for a while, so I would love Game Freak to give us a lengthy new area to explore after we complete the main story :)
