What you can do is use the Pokémon randomizer program to turn off trade evo's, but fair enough. You get Bisharp instead.

So far, I have only made it to Fallarbor Town, as I decided that the road to Lavaridge was long enough that I decided to bring an update before my next gym badge comes into view, as I need a breather from all the work I did getting here.

As a refresher the road to Lavaridge is probably the longest wait for a gym badge in the entire series. Not only that, but I had to pick up and train two Pokemon to cooperate with the guidelines: Vesuvius the Numel, who was very easy to find, obviously, and then Daisy the Grimer, who was much, much more of a chore to catch considering it's one of those "unofficial version-exclusive" Pokemon where in one game it's extremely rare, while in the other one it's very common. Both are at decent levels now, but I felt really worn out afterwards.

...Also, bye-bye, Beautifly...

What's more, in preparation for the capture of my second to last team member, Cacnea (Huntail isn't found until you get to Mossdeep, which unlocks Dive, where you find Clamperl.), I decided to raise a Roselia towards the 5th gym until it learned GrassWhistle, then I'd breed it onto the Cacnea and get a Cacnea with GrassWhistle. Sure, I could just reteach Sing to Periwinkle (my Skitty), but I think GrassWhistle has a catchier tune. Just go with it. Since Roselia isn't found in Emerald, however, I traded a Roselia from my Ruby save to my Emerald save and went from there. Yes, Roselia is a temporary Pokemon, but I couldn't help but gift my Roselia with the glorious moniker of...Monet.

BREAKING NEWS!

Pokerus has been obtained!

I don't know exactly how it happened, possibly from a Zubat or from that one Solrock as I was walking around Meteor Falls, but when I checked my Numel's stats, it turned out that she had Pokerus, and so did my Hariyama. It wasn't long before everyone had the virus. Of course, being the kind of person to enjoy such a thing, I was outright ecstatic, and so I did what any person would do with it: I made a random Pokemon already in my box obtain the virus, then put it in the box so it would keep it indefinitely until I needed it for later. Either way, it was an exciting day that day, and I felt extremely lucky to have even found the virus in the first place, let alone be able to keep my cool and do what is required to keep the virus alive. :laugh-squinted:

Anyway, onto the actual story. I passed through Fallarbor to end up in Meteor Falls, where Team Magma already took the Meteorite from poor Professor Cozmo. I give chase towards them, ending up at Mt. Chimney, where Team Magma is using it to cause the volcano to erupt and "expand the land." What monsters, am I right? Anyway, I breeze through their team easily; even Maxie was a pushover. After I recover the meteorite, I head to Lavaridge to challenge the gym and claim my well-deserved 4th badge. Whew! What a day indeed!

To make a long story short, the road to Norman's gym was just one big long grindfest. I found it fit to evolve all my Pokemon to Lv. 32 to stand a chance, including my newly hatched Cacnea, whom I named Cici.

Oh yeah. Cici. It took a while, but I was able to teach Roselia GrassWhistle, obtain a female Cacnea, then breed away. Soon, I had myself a fully-fledged GrassWhistle Cacnea ripe for training (as well as the Pokerus from the rest of the team :laugh-squinted:). In time, my Cacnea grew to Lv. 32, and as a surprise gift evolved into Cacturne soon afterwards. With a permanent Grass member on my team from here on, I found it fit to finally box Samuel the Grovyle for good, as Cici the Cacturne would now officially take Samuel's place. Good-bye, Samuel. You will be missed. :pink_no::pink_no::pink_no:

Apart from that, other important events include getting a fossil from the elusive Mirage Tower, and of course pulverizing Norman as he practically giving away his badge. Normally it would've been harder, but I was prepared this time, and believe you me, there was no stopping me from here on. Woo-hoo!

After I got my badge, Wally's parents thank me for helping Wally and give me HM03 Surf as a gift. On the side, they mention Wally leaving Verdanturf without telling anyone for his own ventures. What could he be doing, I wonder?
