    Ah, this looks fun.

Name: Adam "Tenzai" Locke (Referred to as Tenzai by others)
    Gender: Male
    Appearance:
The first thing one would notice about Tenzai's face is the inset seriousness that mars his otherwise handsome face. Tenzai has dark, thick, rich brown hair, that sweeps across his forehead from left-to-right covering his right eyebrow. He has pale, smooth skin, unmarked by creases or spots. He has stormy grey eyes with a brown ring surrounding the pupil, with an insightful, serious look in them at all times. His lips are a few shades darker than his skin, and are usually a set, straight line. His nose is normal sized.

He is tall and light on his feet, looking agile and flexible, which, after training most of his short life in various martial arts, he is. He doesn't look nearly as strong as he is, but as he says, looks are deceiving. He has arms that reach down to his waist, and long, graceful fingers. His legs are long, and his feet are proportional to his body. He moves with a certain fluidity, and looks as if he is ready to drop into a fighting position at any given moment.

He wears traditional Sino-style clothing- a testimony to his family heritage and a defiance against the relative obscurity of his Johto Culture. In warmer climates, he wears a Grey Yukata over a black Nagajuban, with a white Obi sash keeping it all together, along with Zori - Sandals - as footwear. When it gets colder, or he needs to look formal, he wears a Hiori that reaches down to his ankles, covering all his other clothing, that is an Ivory coloured and emblazoned with his family's insignia- Three fists striking in flames- in orange at the bottom of it.

History: Coming from a rural Johto family who moved to Kanto and kept their strong local ideals, Tenzai was always an outcast at the local school for his utter hatred of all the things his supposed classmates loved and talked about all the time. War games, football, all things he had no interest in were the staple conversation of Pallet Town's youth. So he spent his time training in a variety of martial arts, ethical values and honourable demeanour with his father, who was a master of all these things in Johto, and was keen to impose these views on his son, who embraced them gladly.

The most memorable time of his life was when he and his father took a trip to Viridian forest to spend a few days in harmony with nature and Pokemon. He got to know about their habits and lifestyles, and he wanted to train them when he got older- he wanted to master his mind and body, and help his Pokemon master theirs, just like his father had, and this put great pressure on the young master Locke, a pressure he welcomed.

On his tenth birthday, his parents declared him ready for training Pokemon, and began instructing him on the last few necessities he would need to become a master of Pokemon and of himself. He swore he would make his parents proud and become a master of all things he held dear- the greatest achievement possible.

    Personality:
Honour, valour, and manners are paramount to Tenzai's lifestyle- he is never impolite or without demeanour, no matter how stressful the position or hated the enemy, and would never even consider doing an action considered dishonourable by his family, including himself, but he is not against using subterfuge and cunning, if it brings victory to his side. He is brave to the point of suicidal, and would give his life to save another- at least, if they were a good friend.

He is a practically genius child, and has a deep understanding of the body and the mind above all else, and has ambitions to become a biologist later in life, knowing practically all there is to know about plants, humans and most Pokemon. He is therefore against using most Steel and other inorganic Pokemon, as they defy nature. He favours the fighting type, as the masters of the body, and the Psychic type, as masters of the mind. A combination of these types along with a strategic and tactical mind leaves Tenzai at a large advantage when using his favourites.

He treats others with respect and politeness, and never swears, insults people behind their backs, or lies needlessly. He is very blunt, and has little regard for other people's feelings- if he can take an insult, then so should they be able to. A fighter by necessity and a sage by nature, He is wise and insightful as well as analytical and clear-minded from the fury and anger that most people feel. He rarely shows his emotions, lest they get the better of him, and seems arrogant at first glance. He has no interest in girls, as he has more important matters on his mind.

Overall, Tenzai is a difficult person to get along with due to the standard he sets of a good person and an honourable person. He is protective of anyone who needs his help, and aggressive to those who exploit the weak. When he dedicates himself to a cause, he is undyingly loyal to it, and places a high price on treachery and lying. Approach and handle with caution if you want to leave with a sense of dignity intact.

    Pallet Town
Tenzai walked up the steps to the Laboratory purposefully and full of dignity. He was rested and clear of mind and heart. He was ready for one of the biggest choices of his life, having made his decision ages back. He saw a girl playing with her Cleffa- one who rose so early to be ahead of him would be a potential threat to his future supremacy. He waved politely and the girl waved back- the Cleffa just stared adoringly into her owner's eyes. He opened the massive doors and looked within to see the esteemed Professor Oak waiting for him.

'Good morning, Adam. Your parents told me you'd be coming.'
'Thank you sir. I've made my choice already, if that's Ok. I heard that you had a Tyrogue here?'
'A Tyrogue? We do. But he's a bit... Well, stubborn.' Oak glanced at a Pokeball to the far right, and shook his head. 'What am I saying? He's exaclty like you, and you'll make a great partnership together. If you are completely sure...'
'Definitely!' Tenzai blurted out. He walked towards the Pokeball containing his future companion. He bowed silently to Professor Oak and left the lab, with a nearby aide quickly stopping him, giving him a Pokedex and some Pokeballs. He left the lab and released his Tyrogue onto the steps. As far away from the girl as possible.

'Ty!' The small fighting Pokemon cried out as he was released. Tenzai placed the Tyrogue's ball into his Obi for later use. Tyrogue glared at Tenzai and looked into his future trainer's eyes, rating him, evaluating him. He leaped at Tenzai, who remained unflinching, looking at the Tyrogue who was mere centimetres away from his face. Then the pair started laughing uncontrollably, and Tenzai bowed towards his new partner, who replied in kind.
"I think I'll call you Samurai. Servant of the master." Samurai looked pleased with his name, performing a quick maneuver to prove his worht to his new master. Tenzai laughed again, and sat down, analysing and setting up his Pokedex for his use.

    Name: Akura Zino

    Gender:
    Female

Appearance: Akura is thin and completely without any kind of womanly curves. It might be because she's only 10 years old, but some say she's built like a thin boy and wont ever become more womanish. She has yellowish skin and thick black hair that almost glances in dark blue. She often keeps her hair in two high pig-tails, but sometimes she lets it all out and it's only then you notice how long, thick and beautiful it really is.

Her eyes are slightly slanted and she has a small, slightly upturned nose. Her lips are small as well and not really a kissable girl's. Her cheekbones are pretty high and her ears are a bit small and round. Her face most often wears a pretty blank expression, not really telling the watcher anything about her thoughts or mood. When she smiles broadly, she shows the upper tooth row and her eyes suddenly go from blank to laughing. When she looks angry, her eyes turn piercing and her mouth becomes a tiny dash.

She never wears any jewelry or things to make herself pretty. She wears a pokéwatch though, which she got from her biggest brother on her birthday. It's black and blue, her favorite colors. She usually wears black or blue clothing, preferring t-shirts to tank tops, and preferring shorts or leggings to skirts. She wears a pretty big bright gray bag on her back, fastened across her left shoulder and her chest with a thick velcro band. Inside it she carries lots of collapsible things to use on her journey, among other things a thin tent which unfolds itself when a button is pushed as well as a tightly packed sleeping bag. The bag she's owned for a long time but the tent she got from her parents as a present on her birthday. They had saved up some to afford it, as it wasn't the most usual thing.

All in all, Akura appears like a mysterious tomboy.

    History:
Akura has been living with her parents and two big brothers in Pallet Town her whole life. They moved there shortly before she was born. Before it, they were living in Johto. Her biggest brother is called Caro and is generally gentle and protective of his family. Akura looks up to him a lot. The middle brother is called Ihko and he's a bit more irresponsible. He wants attention and he and Akura often argue or even fight. He's 13 and Caro is 17, while Akura of course is 10. Caro went on a pokémon journey himself when he was younger. He managed to beat all the gyms but failed rather greatly in the pokémon league competition (OOC: If there is one like in the anime? Or is there just the elite 4 like in the games?) and didn't move on to other regions. Ihko has never cared for pokémon, he's more into other sports.

Her mother is a baker in Pallet and has her own bakery where she and Caro works. Mom owns a Tangela who helps them a lot with its vines, carrying around things securely and even pounding the dough. Akura's father is a construction worker but doesn't have nearly as much work to do here as he had in Ecruteak, where they lived in Johto. Therefore, he works as the general plummer, mechanic and such things. He's a person people in Pallet call when they have mechanical trouble. Dad owns a Machop, who is a great help when he's working. Ihko wants to be like his father but his father doesn't want him to, since there's not much business for that around Pallet. Her whole life, Akura has been alternating between struggling in school, learning to cook and bake and learning how to fix broken mechanics.

She has some friends in school, but as they're growing older and are beginning to interest themselves in girly stuff, Akura feels she's becoming disconnected from them more and more. She doesn't care for those things... or rather she feels like she's too ugly and boyish to even be able to talk much about girly things.

Personality: Akura appears quiet, but when you've talked politely with her for a while, she can suddenly voice a deep opinion and show her inner self. When she thinks something, she does it passionately. But she rarely dares to oppose herself to others even if she feels they're wrong. It's just not worth it.

She's struggling in school and hates studying. She's good at cooking and baking but doesn't understand how mom and Caro can be content with doing that their whole life. She's smart when it comes to helping her dad, but she's often too weak physically to manage to do it perfectly. She wonders and hopes silently within her that there's something she can be good at. Something she's meant to be good at. And when the day came when she turned 10 and got a pokémon license... she knew what she wanted that something to be.

    Pokemon: Azurill
    Gender: Male
    Nickname: Azu
    Move set: Bubble, Charm

I'll add the Oak Lab post soon as well~

    PALLET TOWN

It was still early, but the sun was up and shone brightly. It was a warm season, and Akura closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the slight breeze and the sun's rays stream over her. She was standing at the gate to professor Oak's laboratory garden. This was a big step to take. She was going to get her own pokémon. She had never had one. Her mom's Tangela was kind but not very fun. Her dad's Machop was just like her dad, but more brutish. She didn't like it. She hoped she would get a pokémon more alike her... Like her brother Caro's pokémon. They were just like him, even if they were different in many ways. They complimented each other and were friends. He rarely used them for more than exercising or chilling out nowadays... but she had always liked them.

On the stairs up to the entrance, there were two other kids. They seemed to just have gotten their pokémon. Akura recognized them both vaguely from school, but she didn't know their names. And since she was neither popular nor very visible at all, she was sure they didn't recognize her.

She swallowed and stepped up to the door, knocking. An assistant to the professor opened up and let her in. He escorted her through some halls until they came to a big laboratory looking room with nine pokéballs lined up on a table. Professor Oak entered the room and smiled at her. He was holding an empty cup of coffee in his hand.

"Hello there! You're the third one to come today. Have you looked the pokémon over and thought about who you'd like?"

Akura shook her head. "No. I don't know who I want. Maybe one... one who isn't too fragile but not brutish. And not a serious, mean one," she added, thinking about it.

The professor and the assistant exchanged a look. Then the professor took a step back and seemed to be examining her, thinking deeply. Akura swallowed again. She was told he was superb at seeing the potential of trainers. Maybe he could choose the pokémon for her?

"You will do fine with any of these," the professor simply said, calmly. "No problem."

Akura wasn't calmed by that. This meant she'd have to choose herself. She walked up to the table and looked the pokéballs over, nervously. If she picked the wrong pokémon... she might fail this thing. Even worse than Caro had. One tiny name label before one pokéball caught her stare and she didn't know why. Azurill. It sounded deep and light at the same time.

Professor Oak was about to make a move and say something when she finally stretched out her arm and picked that pokéball up. "Ah," the professor said instead. "You want Azurill? It's a nice fellow that will surely stand by your side though thick and thin if you raise it well."

Akura nodded. She wasn't sure, but maybe she'd never be. She pressed the button on the ball and let the pokémon out. It took shape on the floor. It was a blue ball-like creature with a blob on it's tail. It jumped up and sat on it's own tail, while squeaking eagerly at Akuma, smiling. She let out a breath. It was fine. It felt good. She patted the pokémon on its head and it seemed content. Professor Oak smiled and gave her a pokédex and some pokéballs as well, so that she was able to catch more pokémon if she wanted to. Akura pondered that idea. Maybe.

She went outside again and stopped on the stairs for a while. Azumarill wobbled after her on its small legs. Akura's blank face softened into a smile. "I'll call you Azu," she said. Then she turned to look at the other trainers there. She wasn't usually the one to start conversations, but it felt like this day was going to change something in her. She might as well push it onwards.

She even decided to go talk to the girl with the Cleffa first. She usually didn't feel good around girls she didn't know, but now she took courage. Azu was bouncing after her. The other girl was really pretty. She looked like the complete opposite to Akura. Her hair was beautiful and her face was adorable. She was the girl everyone wanted to be. Maybe Akura wanted it too... but she told everybody she just didn't want to be girly.

"Hi," she said carefully. "I'm Akura, who are you?"

    Name: Tallie West

    Gender:
    Female

    Appearance:

Even at the young age of 10, Tallie has the look of a scholar. Her chocolate eyes have a very wise, wondering look to them, reflecting everything she sees with curiosity. Following down the 10 year old's face were freckles kissing her cheeks and a beauty mark diagonally under her left eye. At first look, all you see is a face covered by glasses, but in reality, her face is heart-shaped, with eyes that are almond shaped, following down to defined cheekbones. Her hair is light blond and cut in a pixie like fashion, with two bobbypins holding back her bangs, which she prefers for simplicity.

The 10-year old's body is just developing. Her chest is still flat, and her body does not have much definition. She stands at about 4'7" and looks to be around 95lbs. Her usual clothing includes a simple long sleeve white shirt, a gray vest, a tan blazer. a brown skirt and black slip-ons. She carries a gray bag containing her most prized objects, a Pokedex, food, and a blank gray book that she writes everything she can about Pokemon down. She carries her Pokeballs around her belt, keeping her most used Pokemon the most centered.

When you first see her, Tallie's exterior appearance is almost cold. She looks to belong in a lab doing careful test instead of in the forest training. She wears her heart on her sleeve though, and her moods are completely recognizable.

    History:
Tallie was born in Vermilion City to a father who was an avid Pokemon collector. She grew up experiencing as many different Pokemon as she could dream of, each one it's own special design and shape. Her mind adsorbed them all like a sponge, learning about the smallest Rattata to the largest Snorlax and everything in between. When she was 7, her father left to go on another adventure, leaving her with her mother, who had no interest in Pokemon but her Skitty.

Tallie then began counting down the days before she could have a Pokemon of her own, and see Pokemon in their own environment. She tended to spend a lot of time outside her house in the surrounding areas where she could catch glimpses of Pokemon. The first thing she would do was draw what they looked like in a blank book her father gave her before leaving, and observe them. It didn't take long of observing to decide that she really aspired to be a Professor of Pokemon someday.

    Personality:
Tallie is very like any 10 year old, just with an amplified curiosity. She wants to know everything under the subject of Pokemon, and won't let anything hold her back. She isn't afraid to ask questions, and poke into others business to find out what she wants. In this way, she can come off as annoying, but she has a good heart down deep, and tries to be friendly. Her one love is Pokemon, and she'll do anything to know more.

Her one major flaw is how clumsy she is. She has a bad tendency to trip in the worst of moment, drop things, and fumble over her words. This lead to an astounding amount of frustration of her, as when she makes noise, things tend to run off, namely, Pokemon. This is the one thing that will bring out her temper. Tallie tends to be very huffy and disconnected when angry, refusing to talk or interact.

Like many 10 year old's, her determination is very clear. She will do anything she can to win a battle, her favorite strategy is to out think her opponent though. When that doesn't work, she's never afraid to put brawn over brain. She is head strong, and makes that clear to anyone around her. A last note would be that she wears her heart on her sleeve. Tallie is in no way, shape, of form afraid to show those around her how she feels. She speaks her mind, and doesn't let others put her down for it.

    Pokemon: Togepi
    Gender: Female
    Nickname: Alla
    Move set: Metronome, Charm

    Pallet Town

Tallie stepped out into the open air, looking around eagerly. Today was the morning, finally the time to begin what she had been striving for since her father left on another adventure 3 years ago. The day before, she had bid her mother a bitter goodbye, and wished her well. From Vermilion City, she had traveled all the way to Pallet Town, to the infamous 'Professor Oak' to receive her first Pokemon, and companion on the journey to becoming a Professor herself. The sun seemed so much more welcoming this morning than any she had seen, so much warmer. The day was beautiful, clouds drifted easily along with the crisp breeze, Pidgey's chirped in the distance. Ideal, that was the best way to describe everything.

Pallet Town was small, so it wasn't more than a couple minutes before she approached Professor Oak's laboratory. She paused outside, taking it all in. Someday, she could have one of these of her own, someday, she could be the one giving out Pokemon to 10 year olds. Tallie approached the door, and opened it easily. It was quiet, but her excitement seemed to fill up the silence.

"Hello?" her voice filled the room, her chocolate colored eyes searched for a person to interact with. She caught her eyes on three trainers, presumably other children who had come to receive their first Pokemon today too. Her eyes were drawn to their Pokemon, the first, with a Cleffa. The second had a Tyrogue, and the third had just chosen Azurill. She sighed a little, relieved that she was here in time.

"Hello!" A voice responded to her, interrupting her thoughts, and smiled in a very welcoming fashion. "Are you here to receive your first Pokemon today?"

    "Yes sir," she said politely.

"Well, they're all right there," he responded, pointing to a table with a couple Pokeballs on it. "Pick any one you'd like, whichever you think would be the best fit."

Tallie's eyes glowed at him, showing clearly how happy she was, and all her anticipation finally coming to a point. She hurried to the table, looking over each carefully. Her mind weighed each option, thinking and rethinking. She reached for Pichu, but made a turn, and instead picked up Togepi's Pokeball. Tallie held it in her hand for a long moment, and then turn to Professor Oak. "This is it," she said in a voice that was sure and definite. "Togepi."

"Good choice," the old man said with another smile, then handed her a Pokedex, and bid her good luck on her journey.

Tallie barely heard his last remark, she touched the button on the Pokeball, watching her companion appear in a flash of red. She lowered herself to the ground and touched the Togepi's shell, smiling at it. "Hi," she said, "My name's Tallie, and I think I'll call you Alla, do you like it?" The little creature peeped with joy, and reached up to it's trainer to be held. Tallie picked Alla up, and walked over to where the other trainers were. She nodded easily to them, and introduced herself.

"Hello, my names Tallie, I'm from Vermilion City."

Ah, something simple. I think I might give this a go.

    Name: Theodore Grantle

    Gender: Male

    Appearance:

Theodore, although more oftenly reffered to as Theo, has the look of a truely fair individual. His blue hair (Why blue? Because shut up.) is cut short, but has length in the front. He stands about 5' 7". He is a bit older than most starting trainers, being 12 as opposed to the customary ten. He always stands strainght and observes many other of the customs of upper class society.

Despite his rich backrounds, Theo takes to a humbler and more practical style of clothing. Especially for one planning to adventure. He is normally seen wearing a green coat that has the tail go down to his knees. Under this he wears a normal black t-shirt. He also spots balck gloves and steel toed balck hiking boots. Probably the only clue to his roots is his silver watch.

    Personality:

Theodore is very anti social and reserved. Due to this, he almost always has a serious expression and tends to bottle away his true feelings. This gives him an air of maturity because it is against him to be saddned by defeat and to be overly joyful when he is the victor. Despite this, Theo is one who always wants to win. He always tries his hardest to win, and then some. This sometimes causes him to push his Pokemon past his limits, however.

    History:

Theodore was born in Olivine City to some of the weathiest people of that particular area. Although they had all they could ever want, his parents always wanted more, causing them to spend much more time with their business than anything else. The instant Theo was old enough, his parents sent him away to a bording school. They even enrolled him for as many extra years as possible saying that it would give him a 'richer knowledge'.

Only but a few days after leaving his school, Theodore learned some disturbing news. As it had turned out, his parents were con artists that somehow weasled their way up to fortune. They had recently been discovered and sent to fifty years inprisonment for many years of fraud, and the general public thought that was a light sentence. With nowhere else to turn, Theodore had to live with his uncle in Kanto. But then his uncle revealed to him that very soon, his Pokemon journey would begin.

I'll make my first post when it is decided if I'm in or no. Also, may I please reserve Magby?

((OOC: Yay!! I'm loving this so far! Okay, here's the line up so far, I'm thinking about beginning and leaving SU's open.))

    Accepted:
    MasterΩMind - Tyrogue
    RHCP - Azurill
    Tehila - Togepi
    Nukoe - Cleffa
    The Noob Hacker - Magby

    Pending...
    SkyisUmbreon - Elekid

I'll post one more time before beginning, small talk, ya know, so that more people have a chance to join and obtain my secret. :)

The cat eye'd girl observed her prize, Cleffa was adorable, pink and sweet.

"We're going to get along just fine." she commented at Sweety with a catty smirk. Sweety, the Cleffa began making noises at her new trainer, seeming overjoyed to have a companion and be outside of her Pokeball. The Pokemon beamed with it's hazel optics aimed only at Piper.

When the girl with the Togepi came outside, you could literally see the Cleffa blow up with envy. She bounced over to Piper and leaped into the precious white, woven basket. "Hmph, Clee fa fa." it taunted, feeling even with Tallie's new friend.

Rising to her feet and lifting Sweety up in her new carriage, Piper was approached by another girl. She was thin, and kind of boyish. Her hair seemed luscious, but the way it was hiked up did not mimic Piper's silky strands in any way.

Not too long after being greeted by the black haired tomboy, another female with a freckled face and specs spoke up. Cleffa again puffed up with jealousy of the Togepi. Piper was not about to be rude, so she flashed a sickly sweet smile.

"Hello, Akura" she began, knowing that she'd forget this girls name in moments. She simply did not care at the moment, she'd had her fair share of issues with other girls... And boyish or not, this was definitely a girl!

"My name is Piper, and this here is Sweety." Piper then offered a thin, pale hand with pink finger nails.

"What are your Pokemon's names?" this time she was including a second female, it was indeed tough for her to do, but making friends seemed a whole lot better than being isolated in a huge, vicious world such as this.

Sweety did not look a second away from the young Togepi. She was huffing, striking eyes to match her trainer's full of rage.

(OOC: Well okay, here I go.)

Theo walked into the peaceful and nearly empty town, not counting the bustling trainers.

Well I guess Professor Oak needs a quiet town like this for his studies, Theodore observed.

The Pokemon Lab wasn't hard to find, it stood out immensly from all of the other buildings. The Lab seemed far more luxiorious, no doubt thanks to the immense funding Oak has been able to bring. Theo inhaled, taking in the fresh air, not to mention the surronding world.

There were trainers bustling about, all anxcious for the journies that awaited them. In the distance a Pokemon battle commenced. The cries of Pokemon and their new trainers filled the air. Once Theodore had finished his long inhale, he sighed to let it all out. It was strangley relaxing despite the semi-chatoic and unorganized event taking place.

Theodore ascended the steps, there he was met by a gruff and bulky man, no doubt gaurding the door from thieves.

"Identification?" the man asked, more demanding than anything else however.

"Theodore Grantle, my pass." Theo calmly replied, handing him the card he had been given by his uncle.

"Well met, Theodore," the man replied, his gruff tone not wavering, "ah so you came from Cerulean. You've come quite a long way."

"Quite." was all Theo said in responce.

He walked in the labratory, most of the trainers were already gone. They probably got there the second the doors opened, being so anxcious. After navigating the halls a bit Theo found no other than Pofessor Oak himself, standing in front of a table of Pokeballs, a lot already gone.

"Ah, you there." called the aging Professor.

    Theo walked towards him.

"I take it you're another aspiring Trainer?" Oak asked him, it was odd how enthusiastic he sounded despite that he had probably given this speech a hundred times over the same day.

"Theodore Grantle, at your service." answered Theo, he didn't like to talk much, but he knew better than to disrespect Professor Oak.

"Well met Theodore. Now do you know which Pokemon you want?" the professor asked.

Theo walked to the spot where he would find what he was seeking, luckily, the Pokeball was still there. Theodore picked it up.

'I've decided to go with Magby." Theo said.

"Ah, it will serve you well," Oak began, "but be careful, it was just imported from Johto so it might not listen as well as any of my other Pokemon would at first. But on the bright side it will probably have a stronger connection with you, as it has never been handled by people before." Oak said.

"I believe in my capabilities, sir." Theo said, trying to show respect yet not trying too hard.

Oak smiled. "I'm sure you'll do just fine, now off you go" it was truely astounding how friendly and personable he seemed, even though he had to meet hundreds of others that very day.

Theodore reached the stairs of the Lab once again, a Pokeball and a Pokedex in hand. Now Theo was armed with both power and knowledge. He took the Pokeball off of his belt, and released its contents.

Out of the Pokeball appeared a Magby, it seemed in top phisical condition. It looked around for awhile, trying to find out where it was. Then it looked to Theo, there was a look in its eyes, a look of understanding. As if it knew exactly what it was doing there, and why Theodore was next to him. Then the Magby dashed off, heading towards the outer edge of Pallet.

"Still a wild Pokemon." Theo said with a sigh, then he begane to persue it.

Akura took note of the somewhat uninterested tone the girl had when she greeted her. Piper, what a different name. Her pokémon resembled her quite a bit. Akura doubted she had had as much trouble deciding her starter as Akura had had. She seemed even more girly than Akura's friends in school.

The other girl said: "Hello, my names Tallie, I'm from Vermilion City." All Akura could see at first was the glasses on her face. But then she snapped out of it. Girls who looked like Tallie had generally been easier for Akura to spend time with than girls who looked like Piper. Akura decided to not judge any of them. Yet.

"Hi Tallie," she said, and then glanced back at Piper. "And Piper." She looked down at Azu, who didn't seem unsure nor scared. It simply seemed to interestedly watch the Cleffa and the Togepi, who were more or less staring at each other.

Akura bent down and caught its attention. "Azu, I'll try to be your friend... I know some other pokémon, and they have been good friends with their trainers. But... I'd love for us to be more like... partners. I want to work towards my goal. And I'll need you to work with me. We'll be partners in this job... and we can be friends as well. Sounds ok?"

Azu sat on its tail and rolled its head for a second. Then it squeaked eagerly. It apparently agreed. Partners they were. Just like her father and Machop when they were working, or her mother and Tangela. And even though most trainers saw their pokémon more as friends or even as tools, her brother had always talked about his pokémon as partners. Equals. His part of the job was to decide and maintain overview, and the pokémons' part were to perform and endure. Akura felt a little more sure now. She got up again and answered Piper's question.

"This is Azu. We'll work together to reach our goal..." Akura hesitated. Would she be so bold? Yes. "Would any one of you like to battle right now? Just to test it out. We... we don't have to fight until we faint. I've never battled before."

In the corner of her eye, she suddenly saw a red pokémon skip past them and run into the woods. A boy ran after it. Hm, maybe some others weren't as lucky with their choice of starter.

Theo put up a good chase. Magby made it all the way to the woods before it got tired. Eventually, Theodore ran to Magby and scooped it up in his arms and pressed it to his chest. Magby was confused at first, but then began to laugh. Magby didn't hate Theo, it just wanted to play. The Magby laughed for a long while until Theo had no choice but to join it. And so started the friendship and partnership between Trainer and Pokemon.

He decided to let Magby continue to roam free. He decided he would let Magby out of its Pokeball at all times, except when he was on a route or in cave or anything of the sort. Magby seemed to enjoy the walk as the duo strolled back into town.

By the steps of the Pokemon Labratory he could see three girls, each with a Pokemon: a Togepi, Clefa, and Azurill. They seemed to be talking about something. Moving a bit closer Theo heard something.

"Would any one of you like to battle right now?...." the girl continued on.

Theo thought for a moment, then he remembered one of his lessons: If a Pokemon is reluctant to battle or unlikely to follow commands, having it watch other Pokemon battles can motivate it to do better.

"What do you say Magby, do you want to watch?" Theo quietly asked Magby.

Magby stared for several moments then cocked its head.

"Come on Magby, it'll be fun." Theo said, Magby following him with a confused look in its eyes.

Akura almost regretted making the request as soon as she had said it. That was just boyish of her! Going off wanting to battle... She wasn't making a good picture of herself infront of these new people.

She saw the boy chasing the red pokémon come back. Hmm. She pulled out her pokédex and hoped it wouldn't show too much when she pointed it at the new pokémon. It was a Magby... a pokémon who attacked mainly through fire. That was tough... it would probably grow strong.

Azu didn't seem to share Akura's hesitation when facing the new pokémon. He jumped up and down and squeaked eagerly. Maybe he preferred more menacing looking opponents than Togepi and Cleffa?

"Hey..." she said, hoping the new boy would hear her. "Maybe you want to try battling with me?"

She didn't really care if one of the girls or the boy accepted her challenge, but she wanted to try Azurill's abilities out on someone. Looking from the boy to the girls, she pulled out her pokédex and began skimming through what attacks Azu might know. Her cheeks grew a little red. She didn't usually speak up and ask things like this.

"Wha.." Theo began as the Azurill hopped towards Magby.

"Well what do you say Magby, do you want to battle?"

Magby looked up at Theo, then to Azurill. The blue Pokemon seemed so happy and full of life. Although Theo knew that Water typed attacks were strong against Magby. But after scanning Azurill in his Pokedex he found out that Azurill was a Normal type, but it could've already learned Bubble. But if Magby was powerful enough there was a chance that a strong Ember attack could win the battle.

Magby still hadn't decided yet, it probably underestimated the Azurill's abilities, or still didn't quite understand what a battle actually was. It seemed Magby didn't want to fight the joyful little thing. That was until the Azurill accedentally kncoked itself into Magby, knocking Magby clean off of its feet, but not causing any damage. Now there was fire in Magby's eyes, it was eager to fight. Magby looked up to Theo, cried a powerful battle cry, then looked back to the Azurill.

"Fine then, I accept your challenge." answered Theodore.

(OOC: Check. We'll do it quickly, it's not an epic battle, just something for Akura (and Theo) to learn the basics of battling. Also, notice that Akura's view on girls/boys isn't mine xD )

Akura shone up. He accepted! Boys were always so much more easier than girls. She smiled without noticing herself.

    "Thanks, great! Azu, you're ready?"

The blue pokémon looked up to her, looking a bit confused. Akura thought for a moment that this pokémon might not have been trained for combat. Sure, it wasn't a wild pokémon, but it might have been bred in captivity and not ever taught how to-

Her doubts were cut short when Azu gave up a weird kind of cry and launched himself towards the Magby. Akura wrinkled her forehead. According to the scan from the pokédex, the pokémon hadn't learned a proper tackle attack yet. It might result in disaster!

"Azu! Quit that and use your Charm instead!"

Azurill wasn't used to obeying orders just like that, but it had been temporarily trained. Professor Oak didn't give out completely untrained pokémon if he could help it. At least not normally...

Azu, luckily, did seem to recognize what the command 'Charm' meant. He broke off the tackle seemingly suddenly, and curled up into an extremely cute ball of blueness instead, trying to charm the Magby and thus decreasing its will to attack toughly.

Akura watched the other trainer. What was he like? She liked studying others. There were so many different kinds of people. Most which were stupid or selfish, but not everybody.

"This little one is Alla," Tallie said, which was followed by a happy peep from the little Togepi. It wiggled a little, unable to contain it's joy. Then Alla caught her eyes onto Piper's Cleffa, Sweety. The shelled Pokemon turned it's head, a little, confused by the intensity in it's eyes. It peeped at it, waving it's arms up and down.

Tallie hesitated for a moment, looking down at the Togepi in her arms for an answer to the battle proposition. She weighed her options carefully, on one hand, she wanted to assert her dominance above the other trainers, to prove that she was on the fast track to success with her companion, on the other hand, she had just received Alla, and didn't want to jump in head first, it wasn't logical. She silently decided the experience would be good for Alla, and as she was about to speak, Akura had already moved on to a male trainer with a Magby.

Her eyes turned to who was left, Piper with her Cleffa, and another male trainer with a Tyrogue. Tallie wondered if either of them would ask her to battle, but she didn't speak up.

"Shall we watch the battle Alla?" Tallie asked, looking down at the Togepi. It returned the glance, finally tearing it's gaze from Sweety to nod at it's trainer and look eagerly in the direction of the two trainers and their Pokemon. Tallie set the little creature down and flipped open her bag, pulling out her gray sketchbook and a pencil. It was very like her, to examine everything, and she took this as a chance to get a view of two Pokemon in battle. While Alla watched, she glanced up and back down, sketching down what was happening.
