    Information and Policy

    The Socialist Party of PCNation aims to combine socialist economic practices with a focus on sustainability, and equality. The Socialist Party believes in a focus on the nation as an entity over the individual and seeks to place power in the hands of the people, not in the hands of corporations.

    -The Party believes in a minimum wage of $10-$12US
    -The Party believes in taxation according to income. The more you earn the more you should contribute to the Nation, however taxation should never infringe on the lifestyle of the people.
    -The Party believes in an efficient and effective welfare system where
    -Those who are studying full-time are entitled to minimum-wage earning in order to focus on education.
    -Those who are between jobs are entitled to support as a safety net. During this time the government can provide aid in finding a job.
    -There is a training scheme where those who cannot find work can be trained and then employed in government agencies.
    -Those who are unable to work due to disability or illness will be provided minimum-wage allowances.​
    -The Party believes in a regulated market to prevent large corporations from developing monopolies.
    -The Party is against privatisation and believes in a society where financial status does not limit access to healthcare or education.
    -The Party believes that immigration should be strictly regulated, but that the rights of refugees should not be infringed. Those seeking asylum are not criminals.

    So, we obviously disagree with what we want from the gun control bill, so I guess we'll just see how the vote goes.

    As for things in the future, the bill I'm currently working on is something like this:

    In addition to any other taxation, mining, power and oil companies will be taxed and additional fifteen percent. That fifteen percent will then go on to fund a scientific and engineering think tank aiming to produce more efficient and sustainable sources of providing power to the nation.

    Anything you'd like to add to this? It's still pretty meagre.
    Obviously to get this through, and I think it's important, we're going to need to wall anything that limits the amount of taxation we're allowed to implement. So we should try to increase our numbers too.
     
    I would provide tax INCENTIVES for companies that have shown they're serious about reducing emissions. For example, the power company that services me is investing $800 million to reduce their carbon emissions, and they run ads encouraging people to save energy. So, the companies that continue to take a dump on the environment will see their taxes go up, while the more responsible ones will be rewarded.

    I think this is a pretty good idea. I'm not entirely sure what incentives we could offer though, an eventual reduce in taxation perhaps? Like "after three years of lowering emissions we'll reduce the tax by 5%"?

    Well here in America, we have a 30 percent investment tax credit for solar power and a tax credit of 2.3 cents per kilowatt for wind energy. These are for residential and commercial properties. For example, a homeowner installs solar energy panels to their house, and they apply the credit to their income taxes. I don't know how it works for power companies though, but I do know a lot of them offer incentives for residents to use energy-efficient appliances. That said, I do like the idea of taxing the hell out of the biggest polluters.

    We almost had a tax on carbon emissions (well we did for a while) here, but it was stupid because the money didn't go towards promoting cleaner energy.

    I like the idea of adding the incentives to households actually. So why don't we go with exactly that and just apply a tax cut to businesses who make use of cleaner energy sources to power things or something. So something like

    -15% tax to power, oil and mining companies.
    -5% cut to those taxes if the companies make use of clean energy to power things.
    -20% investment tax credit for solar power and a tax credit of 2.3 cents per kilowatt for wind energy
    -Funds generated from the tax taken as a part of this scheme go towards research and development in cleaner energy.

    How does that sound?

    I would like to be a part of this.

    I agree with national healthcare, everyone should be covered, our taxes should pay for it and the rich should be taxed more for it. We live in a world where we don't need to have people that are filthy rich where there are so many starving.

    Edit: Also, the current Bill might be ours but we should probably start working on our next one. Perhaps something to get our welfare system in place?
