[Pokémon] The Spirit Sanctuary (Ghost types Club)

I'd like to join! My favorite Ghost type pokemon are: Dhelmise, Rotom (base form), Chandelure, Skeledirge, Gengar and Aegislash. Although I'm usually fairly even with how much I like older vs newer Pokemon, Ghost is one type where I tend to prefer more recent entries. They seemed to get more comfortable moving away from the generic creepy ghost designs and tried out more unique concepts.

That's a very nice selection of favorites.
For recent Ghost type entries I find it pretty funny how they made an evo for Annihilape by just making Primeape die. Really embraced that 1 dex entry xD

Ghost hasn't been combined with Rock yet. Is there anything you think could make a great Rock/Ghost type ?

At this point... with the missed opportunity that is Runerigus... All I can think of is a stone statue come to life.

Spiritomb... it's spirits coming out of a keystone. Though I don't mind that one being Ghost/Dark. The one that actually kinda bothers me is Runerigus.... which they made Ghost/Ground and not Rock. It's a haunted mural...

Although I do like Ice/Ghost I think I might have to go with Steel/Ghost here. It's a good typing and there's quite a few things they could do with it.
Though I like Fighting/Ghost quite a bit as well....

Honestly just a haunted rock would be funny, like a living pet rock!

Sableye, nuff said. And as with the runerigus thing, i honestly thing ground is good, honestly strikes me more as clay pottery which comes from the ground

Is there anything you think could make a great Rock/Ghost type ?

I want to see a haunted fossil! Not a fossil Pokemon that got brought back to life like the ones we already have, but an actual prehistoric Pokemon skeleton that got possessed by its own ghost and started walking around.

Are there any currently existing Pokemon you think could fit the Rock/Ghost type combination?

Galarian Corsola, Cursola, Houndstone, Galarian Yamask, Runerigus, and Sableye would all be obvious candidates. The first two are part Rock in their non-regional forms anyway, so it's not much of a stretch. Houndstone has a tombstone on its head, Galarian Yamask and Runerigus arguably have rocks in their design already, and Sableye eats rocks and gemstones.

If we stretch things to hypothetical regional forms, one of the Galarian Fossils could be the hypothetical haunted unrevived fossil I described above, angry that it was assembled incorrectly.

What's your favorite type combination that's part Ghost ?[/B]

I'm not usually a fan of Normal since it overlaps with Ghost in its role on a team, but the two types work really well together. It's one of two type combinations that negates Ghost's weakness to itself, and it hits every Pokemon except itself, Tyranitar, and the Pawniard line for STAB neutral damage. I am very excited for whenever I get to first use a Hisuian Zoroark in a game playthrough.

Favorite Ghost type Pokemon and why:

Banette
I've loved the lore of Banette ever since Gen III - I also think the design is flawless and it really adds a creep factor to such a kid-friendly game


Dusknoir
Dusknoir stole the show in PMD & I was absolutely OBSESSED with the character development. I also think the design is another flawless ghost type.


Giratina
It's Giratina... what else should I say? Probably one of my top three favorite legendaries. The design is top tier, the typing/lore behind Giratina is amazing, and its shiny is one of my favorites. It's also just a total badass

As such a weird concept, I couldn't help but find myself being drawn to it in Gen 7. I think it was the first Pokemon I shiny hunted in the game (no luck, unfortunately).

My favorite ultra beast by far & its shiny is one to die for. I drew it on a different website and I had a lot of fun playing around with the design.


Ghost types are awesome - I'm so happy to see a club dedicated to them. Looking forward to being a part of this group ^^

Is there anything you think could make a great Rock/Ghost type ?

Getting some inspiration from caves, trench seems interesting to me. Runerigus actually looks like Rock type rather than ground, so considering items which are things of the past, like artifacts sounds optimal. And also fossils, which was said previously.

Are there any currently existing Pokemon you think could fit the Rock/Ghost type combination?

Runerigus, Cursola, Golurk. They all look related to rocks.

What's your favorite type combination that's part Ghost ?

If considering the usability, I like Normal/Ghost combo, as we are getting some nice immunity. On other hand, I also like Ghost/Steel combination thanks to the many resistances we get.

With Halloween coming up I figured I'd highlight the imo three most Halloween like Pokemon: Mimikyu, Pumpkaboo & Gourgeist.

Pumpkaboo & Gourgeist have a size mechanic where the larger in size it is the higher it's HP and Attack get, but also the slower it's Speed gets. They've also got the signature move Trick-or-Treat.

Have you ever used the move Trick-or-Treat? Do you like it?

How do you feel about their size mechanic? Do you think it's useful or pointless?

Instead, I am interested in seeing how Mimikyu looks really, after it's disguise is busted.

Ghost/Fairy doesn't suits it. Instead I will be interested in seeing it's regional form having Ghost/Dark Typing, with Disguise having capability of passing any random status condition if it is busted by Physical move.

Have you ever used the move Trick-or-Treat? Do you like it?

Yes. It's bit strategic move which works decently if we manage to use it. Although it is not something which I am keen to use or have.

How do you feel about their size mechanic? Do you think it's useful or pointless?

It has better functionality in Pokemon GO, with XL or XXL sized Gourgeist have higher bulk than shorter one. So it does serves some purpose there. Though I don't like it, as I need to catch lots of Pumpkaboo in order find the one which have desired size.
