The Star in the Sky

Travis chuckled at Kaki's comment about legs. This was what he liked about her. One moment she seemed fragile and delicate, the next, strong enough to withstand a head on collision with a train. She was truly a work of art. His chuckles only increased in volume as the new kid ran out of the ship, carrying someone that Travis assumed was his girlfriend. He kept talking, babbling about getting stepped on, and from there he went to talking about the crime rate. It was when he mentioned kidnapping Cain "and selling him or his wings for ransom" that Travis couldn't hold it in any longer. He laughed, a deep rumbling laugh that could probably be heard for miles. He laughed until the tears ran down his cheeks.

That was when he realized that it was his first real laugh- not chuckle, not giggle, but deep, full laugh- since Ryota's dissapearance.

The thought sobered him, but only slightly. As he finished chuckling, he smiled at the newcomer. "You sure that you weren't ever a comedian? 'Sell you or your wings for ransom'. Honestly, who would pay a ransom for Cain without his wings?"

"HEY!"

Travis stepped back. An angry, red-haired, Growlithe-human person was standing in front of him. Travis rolled his eyes. "Um... I'm guessing that this is your fanboy?" he muttered to Kaki.

"Step away from my girlfriend, or suffer the consequences!"

"Oh, great Mew help me... this guy is determined to be a worse headache then I thought possible for a human being!" Travis moaned, just loud enough that the Growlithe could hear him. It was enough. Travis barely moved quickly enough to dodge the stream of flames. "If it's a fight you want," Travis smiled, determinedly, "I'll be more then happy to give it to you." He flexed his hands, allowing a lovely view of his now fully-formed claws.

Ricky stepped back for a moment, undecidedly, before launching himself up the deck. Unfortunately for him, Travis had planned this moment perfectly. Three years as the trainer and younger brother of a Zangoose hadn't taught him nothing in the strategy department. Without warning, he let loose an ear splitting roar that caused his foe to stop in his tracks, alarmed, before Travis rushed him, swinging a heavy claw into his midriff. With a cry, the Growlithe fell backward.

Straight into the water!

"No!" Travis gasped. Leaping after his former opponent, he splashed into the water and began stroking towards him. At last he found his romantic opponent, grabbed the back of his shirt, and tugged him back to the dock, where he heaved both of them ceremoniously out of the water, shaking himself as he did so. "You OK?" he gasped.

No answer came, but the ragged breathing of the Growlithe satisfied him. "Must have been the wind I knocked out of him with my punch and the shock of hitting the water... they knocked him out." he muttered, scratching the back of his head. For a moment, he felt sick. He didn't like people getting seriously hurt. Fighting for your life was one thing, a practice bout was different. In a fight like this, it should have been as safe as any Pokemon battle... or were they safe?

Travis remembered the battles he and Ryota had been part of. Pokemon slashing each other, dodging each others flames or jets of pressurized water, launching razor-sharp leaves. Who was to say that Pokemon battles were really any safer then this? It was a sobering thought.

The beginning of the battle was humorous, especially with the added laughs provided by Kaki and Davis. She wasn't sure which was funnier, Kaki hurling a load of common sense at Cain, or Davis berating him with warnings about having his wings stolen and sold for ransom. The comments had left Ruya in a fit of giggles that refused to go away.

By the end of the battle, however, Ruya had stopped laughing and was watching with concern as Travis hauled the unconscious Growlithe out of the water. She would have liked to help, but, like with Tom, she was unable to do so. Once her claws were fully developed she'd have more use of them.

Travis pointed out what must have caused the boy to lose consciousness then drifted off into thought. The Sneasel girl thought this was as good a time as any to point out that leaving would be a good idea. "Big cities like these are always trouble. If we want to avoid more fights we should leave. We can send Mister Growlithe to the Pokemon Center then be on our way. Besides," she added this last part in a hope that it would make everyone hurry up, "the sooner we get to Ecruteak the sooner we know what's causing us to turn into Pokemon, where the Pokemon went, and how to fix everything."

Kaki glanced over at Travis to see what he was chuckling about, soon finding it was about her legs speech. Kaki smiled slightly, turning her head to look at Davis as he talked about crime rate. Kaki couldn't help but laugh about that. Travis had burst into a loud fit of laughter, but the glee was interupted by a familar voice.

Kaki turned to the voice, noticing that it was none other than Ricky. Kaki's ears fell back against her skull and she took a step back until he said the words, "My" and "Girlfriend" right next to each other in the same sentence. "I am not your girlfriend, Ricky." Kaki growled, but Ricky wouldn't hear it. He had his sights on Travis.

Within moments, Ricky overreacted, sending an Ember at Travis, who jumpped out of the way. But, now it was headed for Ruya, and instinct took over. Kaki jumpped into the way of the flame, crossing her arms over her bowed head. Even if her actions were heroic, she was left with a nasty burn. Kaki's ears fell back against her skull, the pain stinging up her arm to her shoulder and all the way down to her fingertips. Slowly, she flexed her stubby fingers. But, somehow, she felt stronger. She didn't know why, she just did.

A splash of water made her turn to see Travis pulling Ricky out of the sea water, Ricky out cold. Kaki nodded in agreement at the idea of dropping Ricky off at the Pokemon Center and taking their leave.

OOC: Thank you Alana for saving my RP from death! XD But, now I'm back, and I'll take those reigns I so everly dearly handed to you. *steals reigns back* >.>

Well, I see we've failed to be full Pokemon yet, so let's get this thing moving. No way in heck I'm letting this die! XD

--

I can't say I expected what happened today. Some power was used, and I just wasn't expecting it. I don't even remember if I used any water attacks when we were attacked in Vermillion, nor do I remember how it happened. Somehow, my memory was twisting a bit, and I needed a little bit more thought to think on just about anything.

I had nothing to say when Travis attacked this Ricky person. I had nothing to say when Kaki was burned, yet not burned at the same time. My point; I had nothing to say at all. It seemed to me, probably the one that pitched the idea to come to Ecruteak, was slowly becoming the minor character in this twisting journey we were having. I had never been on an actual journey, so I was not sure exactly how it would feel to work alone. Even though I was on this journey, I was still watching from the sidelines.

We all helped get Ricky to the Pokémon Center. I was not sure how this was going to be easy on Nurse Joy though, knowing that she had to help a human that was becoming a Pokémon, and half way at that. It was a hard task to decide whether he should be treated as a human would for treatment, or as a Pokémon would.

Then we were off again. Time was not on our side; we were slowly becoming Pokémon, not even sure when the full effect would come in.

We were currently on Route 39. I was not familiar with these roads, so I didn't make any promises to anyone that we would get there easily. But, we did have Ruya and Travis, who were probably experts for these roads. I couldn't be too sure.

I looked at my hands most of the time, just wondering how long until it completely changed. It was kind of freaky, but it was something the others and I had to deal with.

We came to a fork in the road. I wasn't so sure as where to go from here. I didn't know the routes. On instinct, I put a questioning look on and faced Ruya. I did not ask, but I was pretty sure she'd get the message of the question.

OOC: Sorry for not posting for two weeks guys, but I'm back now, so no worries!

IC: Zaiku had stared at the fork in the road, he scratched his had in confusion, though his new hands weren't scratching much. He sighed and sat himself down underneath the shade of a tree.
"So..."He began waiting with a pause for at least 10 seconds, "Anybody know what we do now?" he asked rationally.

He took a look at his skin, and how pale it was becoming, and the red horn on his head. He thought to himself, heh, I guess I was wrong my personality IS changing, normally I'd run down one road and hope for the best... But that doesn't seem to appeal right now. Zaiku was rather mystified at how his hair was rock hard in it's position, he didn't like being so short, his backpack felt so big on him, and his clothes barely fit, he decided though that it would be appropriate to buy smaller clothes when he reached the next store, though something that wasn't basketball related like his current outfit. Maybe a pure white martial arts robe, soft, clean and comfortable.

Zaiku opened his mouth again,
"I know it isn't the best idea, but maybe we can split into two groups? Each group can go seperate ways and we can meet up at Ecruteak... But I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out..."

OOC: Sorry , I've been busy with the CSTs (California standards test) But I'm back now!

IC: Shi was still sleeping , she was pretty worn out from the night out on the boat. " *Sigh* Shi , you've been partying too much ever since Vermillion... God darn it.... What a drag..." I was changed almost completely. My fingers were now morphed into stubby hands and my toes mutated into my feet. The only things not completely changed were my eyes , which were almost squinted to Cyndaquil squints.

We then came to a fork in the road and that's when we all got stuck on it. Zaiku started to suggest that we split up into two groups and meet up at Ecruteak later. "Yeah , that would be a good idea, but what about the people around here? They're most likely to attack us and try to cha-" That's when I heard a loud roar that scared the squint off of me. "Actually we should definetely split up!"

"Hm, za?" Travis asked questioningly as Zaiku suggested that the groups split up. "I don't quite like that idea, za-na. It seems like it'll end up going sour for..." Travis's voice trailed off. Sitting there, at the side of the road, was a man who he could've sworn hadn't been there before. In fact, he hadn't. Travis would have been able to pick out his scent fron the rest of the party. His scent was strange, too- it was faint, and aged, as if the man had been there five hours ago instead of sitting here now. It was musty, and smelled of something Travis couldn't quite identify. The man himself was concealed as well, beneath a brown, hooded cloak that overshadowed his entire upper body. He was sitting on the ground, cross legged, and a blanket covered his legs. Across the blanket were spread various articles of jewelry: bracelets, rings, even a diamond necklace and a string of pink pearls. Intrigued, Travis stepped closer. "Who-" he began, but closed his mouth quickly as the man whipped up a hand to his concealed lips and shook his head.

Lifting the string of pink pearls, the man tossed them to Travis, and whispered, "When your quest is finished, return them to their home." Then, without another word, he vanished, melting away.

"Okay... that was weird, za." Travis muttered, staring at the pearls at his feet.

OOC: Sorry for my long absence. I've had the worst case of writer's block concerning all Role-Plays...but I seem to be being cured. I think it was just school stress. <_<

Ruya glanced at the fork, peering closely at each path before turning her attention to Zaiku who was making a suggestion. Split up? she thought, glancing at the choice of paths again. She caught Tom's questioning look and tried to remember which path led to Ecruteak. She had been down this road before, hadn't she? But...hadn't there been a sign before?

Closer inspection of the area revealed a small, splintered bit of wood sticking out of the dirt. "That's friendly, zel," she said irritably, scanning the area again. Pacing ensued. While walking back and forth she ignored that people around her. She thought she saw movement out of the corner of her eye a couple of times but ignored that as well.

Finally, after a short amount of time, though it felt like longer, she paused and turned to Tom. "There's nothing terribly wrong with Zaiku's plan, sne," she began slowly, "apart from the fact that splitting into two groups, sne, would mean one group would get to Ecruteak, sel, and the other would end up who knows where. I think," here she paused, biting her lip slightly, winced, then continued, "I think it's that way, sel sel." She pointed hesitantly to the right.

Zaiku didn't really know which way to go, and there was no way to tell. He thought long about it and sighed. He then announced, "We are now Pokemon with instincts," Zaiku began and taking a short pause, "Real pokemon follow their instincts, so we must try to do so, it is only natural." Zaiku realised he was a Ralts however, being gentle and cautious in nature, but after a few minutes finally decided that he would go right, it seemed to strike his instincts.

Zaiku took in a deep breath, and stepped forward a few steps to the right path. He seemed rather uncertain, but his instincts made him unable to change his mind. He then felt rather tired, the telaport walking must of strained him.

I heard the roar off in the distance. I didn't think much about; probably someone just testing out their roar. I then realized that a lot of people would be testing out what they can do with their new powers. Some of them might be too powerful for me to handle…as in, maybe a grass attack like "absorb." It was not something I wanted to deal with, but I knew it was something that would eventually happen to me. I was going to experience the full package the day I fully transformed into a Psyduck.

"Well, all in favor of psy—no, right—raise your hand." I raised my own hand, mainly for the fact that Ruya said that it was probably the way. I was not about to doubt a native to Johto. Then I looked down at Travis's feet. "Duck are those?" I asked, meaing to say "what" on "duck," though it was pretty obvious what they were.

AJ kept his piercing glare set on Tom, His eyes not just seeing Tom but through Tom. " Tom... Your a..Duck." AJ mumbled stating the obvious but then putting a grin on his face, " I'm kind of hungry..." He said rubbing his stomach, feeling his blue black fur underneath his clothes, he was a pokemon. That had been established, nothing else to that. But there was still the fact that he was stronger now then ever. Special abilities and powers, he had already suverely injured many people, but two people struck his memory the most.

AJ saw that one of the kids had very well soaken their shorts, AJ's smile broadened as he streched his fingers out and grabbed the kid by the collar. AJ streched his right arm out and watched as steam rapidly rose from it, the skin reddened and even some small sparks began jumping around. He clentched his fist and flames erupted within, tears were rolling down the childs face, he was screaming.

AJ's smile was replaced with a scowl.

" Shut up! Shut up! You stupid brat!" AJ yelled lunging his arm forward and... and...

A scream that could well be heard, peirced the darkness in the sky and AJ was walking back, to the group. Because people wern't supposed to stray far from a group.

AJ kept his smile and raised his hand as well, it was glowing blue, a small ball of blue energy.

The thug couldn't move away fast enough, a look of fear spread across his face as the blue ball grew bigger and the arm collided with it.

AJ released it, Pulse Bomb.

The thug went down wimpering but not before releasing a echoing scream, of pain, his arm was burned, not a fiery burn, more of a chemical looking one.

AJ smiled evily, " I doubt he'll ever use that arm again." AJ murmered calmly.

The way things were going, would Tom be his next target?

Shi had just started to wake up to the sounds of discussion and confusion. She fully woke up and jumped off of Davis's back. "*sigh* Well , my instincts tell me you're wondering where to go? Well , Chika , my instincts tell me that we should go right... Rita." Shi rubbed her cheek on Davis's as a thanks for carrying her all the way to where they were. Shi blushed for a little bit until settling down.

"Well , shall we go right or no?" Shi asked everyone , since there was obviously an upper hand on the right trail than the left.

"Eh, these? Not really sure... some random guy showed up, told me to give 'em back, and vanished, za-ha." Travis replied. He smirked secretly- while the others were having trouble controlling their Pokemon-esque bursts, he was having a much easier time of it by combining the Pokemon sounds with his normal speech on purpose, instead of randomly allowing them to pop up. It seemed to make it easier for him to speak like a regular human. "And, za, I've got no idea what they're Gu for se." Scratching his head with one wicked-looking set of claws, he raised his other paw. "I vote we go right, za-dex, and leave the left alone. Besides, za, I can smell something down either path. It's too faint for me to tell za if it's Ecruteak or what, but I think the only way is to find out, za-huh. Who knows, both roads might the same way, se-zangoose!"

It was at that exact moment that the Growlithe chose to attack. He leapt from the side of the road, covered in mud, howling "You shall not touch my Kaki!"

Bam!

Travis whirled, and with a predator's snarl he swung his heavy, bludgeon-like claws into his rival's belly. Whimpering, the Growlithe hybrid hurtled through the air like a bullet, skidding off the side of the road and into a ditch. "Ouch, za... didn't mean to use that much force." Travis stated flatly, as he wrung his claw, wincing.

Kaki's sensitive ears caught the sound of something landing, and she turned her head to see a pearls at Travis' feet. She wondered what they were there for, but Tom stole the question on her mind. She glanced at Tom as she asked, then turned her gaze back to Travis as she waited for his answer. His answer confused her, but she heard another voice that was much softer than Travis'.

It was AJ murmuring something about Tom and being hungry. She was at an angle to where she was sort of looking at his back. Kaki glared at the back of his head. AJ turned into such a prick. So self-confident it pissed her off, his 'I'm so much better than you' attitude, such a smart mouth. He'd have to get through her, first.

Kaki, hearing her name being called, looked back, the same glare still stuck on her face. It was Ricky... Again. Travis attacked him and put him down on the ground in an instant, and Kaki huffed and stormed over between the two, glaring down at Ricky, who smiled innocently at her. "Quit, Vul. Fighting, Pix." She demanded loudly. He tried to speak up, but Kaki wouldn't let him. "Quit stalking vul, and quit calling me yours, pix, vul! I can date whoever the pix I want and you definately are not on that list! Leave me alone,Vul-PIX!" Kaki growled at him.

"Right it is,pix!" Kaki stated loudly, a thunder cloud looming over her head as she angerly grumbled walking toward the trail at the right, fuming and huffing. Hopefully no one would be stupid enough to get in her way.

And yet I had to be the only one in the group that seemed to be getting stupider by the minute, and made the stupid decision of stepping in front of Kaki.

"Psy, something wrong?" Idiotic question. As soon as I said it, I could feel an invisible punch of air wishing to smack me to heck. It should have been enough with the steam I could feel building within her, which was almost too literally said aloud due to what she was becoming. Why did I have to ask that question? I could have just gone over to Travis and continued an airhead question, like trying to find more info on the pearls. Oh well, I guess this is what happens when you begin to lose yourself to what you become.

Travis had always heard that every girl would only take so much before she exploded, but he had never really believed it. That is, until he saw it for himself. Kaki's anger practically knocked the wind out of him. Without warning, she began storming down the path to the right, flames practically spouting from her body. Unfortunately, Tom, who had been acting more like an airhead as of late, made the fatal mistake of getting in her way. Travis quickly considered his possible options. Option number one: let Kaki toast Tom and eat him for breakfast. Obviously not in the group's best interests. Option number two: Use violence to prevent the impending murder. Not in anyone's best interests. Option number three: Save Tom and beg for forgiveness on his behalf if necessary. Possibly demeaning, but much better then options one or two on their own. Travis made his decision. Darting to the side of the Psyduck morph, he grabbed his shoulder's and shoved him to the side, shakily saying "Sorry about Tom, he's just a little on the za side, I mean the off side today, not really thinking too clearly, eh za... heheh, yeah, I'll move now."

Brilliant plan, Sherlock.

The one who interupted this fox who was basically a walking oven was a duck. She stopped in her tracks, her sixs tails fanning out and twitched at the same time. But, his words of consern made her expression soften and she parted her lips to speak, but Travis hurried and got Tom out of her way, wise enough to know when a girl was mad. He, too, soon got out of her way as well.

Kaki dropped her head shamefully, her tails dropping as well, her sudden spurt of anger vanishing into vapor. She turned to Tom, and, lightening up, she offerd him a small smile and hooked her arm over his shoulders in a casual way and continued to lead him down the trail. "Lemme talk to ya for just a minute, buddy." She said to him.

Once she was sure she was out of general earshot, unless Travis was trying to listen in. "I need you to do me a favor..." She began slowly, looking out at the gravel trail ahead. "I want you to stay away from AJ... I heard him saying something about you and being hungry earlier... He's been really on my nerves lately because of that smart attitude, and then Ricky... That's why I exploded. I just don't want anything to happen to ya, kay?" Kaki said to him, finally looking to him with a friendly smile. "Besides," She said, removing her arm from his shoulders. She balled up her hand so her thumb was sticking out and placed her thumb to her chest. "He'll have to get through me first."

Ruya clicked her tongue as she watched Kaki storm off down the trail. The click was soon replaced with a rough giggle, then a another. The Sneasel side took over for a short laughing spree in which she nearly fell over, clutching her sides. "Remind me, sne," she gasped to no one, still laughing, "to stay on her good, zel, side, snea!"

Exactly why the fuming Kaki had been so funny, she wasn't entirely sure. The laughter seemed more like instinct than actual amusement. Or perhaps it was insanity. Either was possible.

When Ruya was finally ale to get herself under control Kaki, Travis, and Tom were already a decent way down the path and Kaki had calmed down considerably. With a sigh the Sneasel girl began following. She managed to catch them in time to see Kaki remove her arm from Tom's shoulders. Apparently she had been apologizing or something.

"Having fun?" she asked jauntily, showing her pointed canines as she grinned as the Vulpix morph.

When Kaki outburst suddenly Zaiku had lost it, he ran down the trail screeching a high-pitch "RAAAA-LLLLLLLTTTTSSSS" like he could've never done as a Ralts. He just wanted to escape the overly-hostile emotions. Then Zaiku suddenly remembered was the emotion pokemon, and if the emotions around them were generally hostile, they would simply flee. That was SO what was happening right now.
Zaiku then realised that when they had calmed down, he lost his urge to flee.

AJ let a grin form upon his face at the girls act, Kaki was it? Yes that seemed right. But Kaki didn't seem to be positive towards AJ right now, he could feel it. He looked at the Vulpix freak a little closer, she didn't look too happy, not that AJ cared. She would die at his hands as well, a slow horrible death. AJ could practically see it, No... and there was that misreable voice again, how infuriating.

It seemed as the Ralts creature was easily frightend, AJ decided to note this as a weakness. " He should make for an easy target." AJ chuckled quietly to himself. AJ had noticed something that set him apart from the others, his voice didn't get cluttered with Pokemon sounds as the others did, AJ decided it was probably because he was more advanced then them. More powerful.

AJ could only smile broader at this, the only target that wouldn't be very easy of a target was that Travis, his enemy. AJ would make sure his and Tom's death were the most sufferable, blood would be everywhere... death to them all!

AJ let out a demonic laugh, not deep but not high. It still had it's kid essence. AJ also despised Ruya, she didn't exactly make AJ feel confident, but that was before and this was now. AJ would make sure she died horribly as well. Yes...

They would all die.

At his hands.
