I'm taking Wooter. And I'm naming him/her Wooter. Daikenki looks pretty cool :D and he learns Megahorn ^^
After looking at this comic, I'm more motivated to choose Mijumaru:
Spoiler:
Ah what a cute Majimaru, I liked that story, if only they had it's BA Evolution in it ;)

That comic was so cute, I might get Mijumaru now, the poor little thing is all lonely. :[

I think I'm going to cry. That comic was so cute! (I'm still picking Pokabu, but now I feel bad for bashing on Daikenki's design) :cer_cry: :(

Furthermore, I think every Pokemon Trainer should see that drawing at least once. :)

Would it kill them to toss in a bit of a variety for once.

Third fire/fighting starter in a row. Fire types seems to always be the offensive/glass cannon type Pokemon. I'm not complaining, but grass usually seems to get the short end of the stick. Tsutarja has speed, I'll give him that. In fact, in comparison to all the other Pokemon in BW, he can outpace pretty much almost everyone. But he doesn't have the offensive capabilities to utilize it. Two leaf storms and his special will pretty much be reduced to nothing. Leaf blade is pretty much the best he can do, sadly. :(

Pokabu is easily the most powerful attacker, out of every starter in existence actually. He's like a slower Blaziken but with an insane move pool. Nitro charge completely breaks the game. Two uses, and he can outspeed almost anything for the rest of the match. Then he can just heat stomp or flare blitz everything out of existence. No close combat though. :( On the other hand, there happens to be a lot of good fire types. He can be easily replaced by Hihidaruma or Shandaraa, or even Reshiram if you're playing the inferior version Black.

I've yet to use Mijumaru and I'll probably stick to fire for the 3rd game but he actually looks like a more solid choice than Tsutarja. He can learn brine (!!) and if all goes wrong you can just turn him into an HM slave and spam surf. Also, you're not going to get much better than his 100+ base special attack since water types are not that impressive this time around.

I agree entirely with you. Grass seems to always get screwed in one way or another.. the only good grass starter we've had was maybe Turtwig. It could be a beast if used correctly, but it's easily outdone in the metagame by Infernape. Not just by type, but by stats all together.

Unfortunately, Tsutaaja's evolution won't be seen much in the metagame due to how the Grass starters get lol'd at stat wise. Maybe UU if it's lucky, but other than that I highly doubt it. Pure Grass and no good stats except for Speed. Not a very helpful thing at all, especially with Heatran stomping around. Pity since it has a pretty nice movepool going for it. Coil Up, Leaf Storm, Leaf Blade.. things like that.

Well Tsutarja will probably end up like Meganium, Venasaur, etc. Useful but not over rated like the OU pokemon...

I was hoping for an OU Grass starter for once.. all of them are UU/NU.
It's really a sad thing when not one grass starter, even up till now, is good enough to maul in OU. ]:

Yeah... when I heard it was going to be another Fire/Fighting type, I kinda gave up on it. When the moment of truth came though, I caved in and picked it as my starter XD I mean, I love the designs for Pokabu and it's final evo, it was just it's typing that really pissed me off.

Um, for all you Tsutaaja/Jaroda fans...you have heard about Jaroda's Contrarian/Perversity ability, correct? Couple that with Leaf Storm, and you have a freaking monster on your hands. I don't know if items Jaroda holds will be subject to the ability (i.e., Iron Ball boosting speed rather than cutting it), but if so, I think Jaroda's going to be pretty high in the tiers, since it'll be outspeeding and outsweeping many foes...

A Base 140 STAB that boosts your SpA by + 2 every time you use it? That's Insanely strong. It already has coil around too, and its bulk means it can get a few LS's off then hide behind a sub, then boost some more. Yowza.

Wow...that's amazing, so the DW Tsutarja's will definitely be in OU then :)

Coil will not work with Contrarian/Perversity, however. It will lower Tsu's Attack, Defense and Accuracy rather than up them. XD The same thing will happen with Calm Mind; it's not all good news, y'see see. Still, the people who think Smuglord will never see the light of OU are dead wrong; Dream World abilities can be bred, which means Smuglord can have his Dream World ability and combine it with some of his amazing egg moves like Glare (now with more accuracy!) and Mean Look. How many SubSeeders you know can Mean Look? And am I the only one who's realized that Smuglord is a better SubSeeder than both Roserade and Sceptile due to being faster than Roserade, and sturdier than Sceptile? XD

If you can manage to trap something (via Mean Look) that can't do much damage to Jaroda, your foe has a dead Pokemon on their hands, as the snake will SubSeed and Leaf Storm to his reptilian heart's content, eventually maxxin' his SpA to the point where a resistance to Grass will be meaningless. And you can always go for Overgrow + Coil; the latter will ensure Iron Tail and Dragon Tail (which can wreak havoc since it forces Pokemon to switch, thus racking up Stealth Rock, Spikes and/or Toxic Spikes damage if they're present in the foe's field) hit almost always. Not to mention that Reflect + Light Screen means he can be of great support to any team if he needs to be, and he also gets Mirror Coat which is pretty nifty imo.

Smuglord is one of those Pokemon who will surprise people every now and then, because it's like the Spanish Inquisition: with those offenses, who'd expect good old grass king snake to actually do stuff? I think we have a fairly underrated thread in our hands here and those who can't see his potential despite his shortcomings are either blind or not seeing what I'm seeing in him.

Boil Over sounds interesting.... Hmmm. Very interesting. I still want Jarooda, even though it is plain grass, it looks too cool to pass up. If I get both games I will pick Pokabu too, seeing as the water starter is my most disliked.

I know, I'm still debating as to get Jaroda or just go ahead and get the Fire Starter... then again I have NEVER used a Water starter before, and I like Mijumaru...

What in the world. I've yet to see these dream world abilities but a number of them are greatly gamebreaking. How do they even work on starters? I'm assuming that unlocking the ability in the Dream World allows you to breed the Pokemon with the intended ability?

I wouldn't mind a Emboar with 240 STAB.

Daikenki <3

My Daikenki is just a flat out powerhouse since it evolved. Shell Blade has been taking out most pokemon(that isn't grass) in 2-3 hits at the most. Excellent move combined with Slash and Surf. Now if I can find a good move to replace Aqua Jet, I'll be good to go.

i'd consider Grass Knot. i put Grass Knot on my Daikenki and he is just so awesome against other water types this gen.

Smogon said the dream world ability can be passed through breeding through the female, in the same way as breeding for natures with a Ditto, I think.

240 STAB is frightening, given Emboar's ridiculous moveset.
