"Thanks" I replied, voice just as soft as Gene's. I rolled my shoulder experimentally a few times. My arm still twinged a bit, but this was a definate improvement. Wrapping an arm arond her, I whispered "I'm sorry about what happened with your sister. I...I just lost control."

"It's alright... She kinda deserved it... I guess..." Genevieve sighs slightly, and places a hand on his. "But if she was telling the truth, and Papa *is* coming, then that is a problem..." She smiles, and looks up at Alberon, before gently resting her head on his shoulder, not the cut, though.

"Then we'll worry about that when it comes" I replied, closing my eyes and resting my cheek upon the top of Gene's head.

"Thank you," she whispered, before closeing her eyes, and resting a hand on Alberon's knee. "I'm sorry, for what she said, and what she did..."

"I'm used to it" I replied softly, adding as almost an afterthought "And I should have expected it, but after you..." I left the sentence unfinished sure that she grasped my meaning.

"After I...?" She looked slightly confused, but shrugged it off. "After I what?" Genevieve taps her foot against the floor quietly, thinking of what he said, and waiting for an answer.

"After meeting you, I suppose" I replied softly, musing to myself as much as answering.

"That..made no sense.." Genevieve opened her eyes and looked up at Alberon, obviously confused.

"I'd hoped that I..er..you...I mean, I'd hoped that we might begin to end this blood fued. But after meeting your sister and talking to those wolves, I have to say that it looks hopeless."

"Shh," Genevieve places a finger over Alberon's lips, in a hush-hush manner. "There's no need to think, right now."

Smiling, she buries her face against his neck, chuckling slightly.

"I suppose not" I murmered, laughing a bit myself. How'd she manage to do that? I was all ready to wallow in self-pity for a while and she cheered me up, seemingly without thinking. she almost reminded me of...No, I wouldn't think on them. That was behind me now. I kissed Gene gently on he own neck.

Genevieve gently sticks her pinkie into Alberon's ear, and wiggles her finger, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

I giggled a bit at this, a small, yipping sound. A small smile on my face as well, I said through my laughter "Stop, that tickles."

Genevieve stuck her tongue out. "Oh well, you can live with it." She continued to wiggle her finger, and giggled.

"Are you hungry? I mean, we can't munch on crackers and jerky all night. I can go make some food, if you like," she smiles, and shakes some of her hair from her face.

"I couldn't trouble" I said, still giggling and now squirming a bit. "Let me make it, at least, if you don't mind camp food."

"Fine, I won't argue. You can go ahead," Genevieve stated, before leaning back on the couch, her hands crossed in her lap. She smiles, though barely, as she yawns.

"Al right" I replied, hopping off the couch. retrieving my pack from the spot I'd lain it, close to the door, I proceeded to a spot by the fire. After returning it to a proper blaze, I pulled out a worn iron pot, filled it with some water from the bar, and tossed in some egg noodles, dried beans and green onions, and finished it off with some meat. I carefully hung the pot on the rack in the fire, then returned to the couch, saying 'And now we wait a bit."

"Good," Genevieve stands up and stretches, before sitting back down, a dagger drawn. She pricks her finger slightly, and sighs, but smiles.

I eyed the dagger warily. I'd never liked any blade much shorter than a foot. Even my own belt knife made me nervous. Nevertheless, I smiled and said "Yeah, it's a quick meal, but a good one.

"I can't wait," she muttered, sliding the blade across her finger. Genevieve smiled as she let the blood drip to the dark, hard wood floor.
