4th Gen The three starters

I guess I'll say something in this thread...

Chimchar: Cute(er)(est)! I'm getting this little trouble make first. It has a great idea, and cool looks. And I ALWAYS get the fire starter the first time, then the water, and finnaly the grass.

Piplup: Cute. I'm getting this one seceond. At first look, I was going to get him first, but when they revealed Empoleon, it wasn't going to happen. Why is there a tab sticking out of it's stomach? I'd like it better with out the weird crown thing too.

Turtwig: Ugly! Most definently the last one I'm going to get. I think it is actually pretty cute, though. Grotle is better than Turtwig a little. Dotaitos is just plain odd. It has a tree on it's back along with spikes. spikes are fine, but a TREE.

How dare you. Chimchar was always, and will always be the least cutest Uglyest, espescially in the anime. Turtwig all the way. I'm also choosing him because I've never started with a Grass type. Now let me take you on a Trip through history.

Electivires Starters - A life.

Red and Blue: Squirtle
Yellow: Dragonite of course not, Pikachu.
Gold and Crystal: Totodile
Silver: Cyndaquil
Ruby & Emerald: Torchic
Sapphire: Mudkip
FireRed: Charmander

Thankyou for your time, tune in next week for more of Electivires Hyperactive moments.

Hi..

Umm hello all. I am new and have no idea what to do.

Oh yes bow for me. not.

Anyway about the topic...lol...

I wish to pick Piuplup. i ahve always picked water pokemon. They are fathful and when you think of it, you can catch a Budew REALLY early in the game, and fire pokemon are too scarce, so im sure you can accomodate for others with the goodness of water by your side. Turtwig is a hideous little thing, but himchar is worse. But thats my opinoin.

Ta :D

why is this thread in D/P? we're talking about LG/FR and other games :S

first of all, that is spam.
second of all, (sorry to be mean but) you're either really dumb, or you just like to make spam posts without researching why those posts (the ones you spam about) came about.
no, we are not talking about FR/ and other games. we are talking about which starters were gonna pick, and electrive just mentioned all the starters hes ever had. his point was he never had the grass starter which was why he was getting turtwig. then wooper did that too, just without mentioning why.
and to answer the spammish question you posed, this is in the D/P because its the three D/P starters. its not the thread creators fault if someone made a spam post. just cuz theres one unrelated post, do you always say that the thread is on the wrong forum?

anyways, i was originally going to get piplup and turtwig, but i might change my pearl team and get chimchar instead of turtwig

Actually, I think this decision has been the hardest of all starters to date, save the the original R/B.
I like them all...but in terms of cuteness, Turtwig definitely has the other two beat. I'll definitely be picking him, especially considering that the grass starters are also my favorites..I'll always pick the grass in my main game, and, as someone else pointed out, he does have a resemblance to a certain Digimon, which is another reason I'll be choosing him. Since I'll be getting Diamond as well, that leaves me with one more choice...
Let's see...originally, I would have picked Piplup, because c'mon, penguins are cute. When I first saw Chimchar, I couldn't believe that we'd have two hideous fire starters in a row (the Torchic line is absolutely repugnant...perhaps the only three Pokemon I think are truly ugly), but when I saw a clip from the 10th movie, he immediately grew on me.
For that reason, my starters will be Turtwig on Pearl and Chimchar on Diamond, and then I'll breed one and trade for Piplup.

Turtwig because Torterra looks really cool and he has the best stats among the 3 (go check.)

I think I'll get Piplup, actually. Could be a very useful mixed sweeper, and I've always been an enthusiast of Water element, not to mention the whole emperor motif it has.

Turtwig because Torterra looks really cool and he has the best stats among the 3 (go check.)

we must then also look at the stats, and Infernape has a high Attack, Sp Attack, and Speed, making it great for both physical AND special sweeping. its defense and sp defense are low in comparison, but against past generational pokemon, it can definitely take some hits. base stats come to a total of 534 points.

torterra has a high attack and defense (how obvious) and a somewhat high hp (it might as well just be a ground type ._.). it has a very low speed and a depressingly low special defense for a huge turtle. base stats come to a total of 525 points.

empoleon has a high special attack and special defense, but a surprisingly low speed. the rest of its stats are average. base stats come to a total of 530 points.

torterra doesn't have the best stats. he has a 4X weakness to ice and definitely needs a higher sp defense to make up for that kind of weakness, but sadly, he doesn't.

im gonna get chimchar because of its looks and attacks, also stats arent that bad

I normally pick the fire, but I hate Chimchar, so i am going to pick Piplup. Mostly because of the water/steel.(it is awsome!)

Bump? Yeah it is

I'll be picking Turtwig. And as for it's 4x weakness to ice, what are the odds of someone sweeping your team with Ice Punch or Ice Beam? The Dragons with Ice Punch/Beam and those wimpy Psychics with the punches will go down easy. And when are you going to encounter a Glalie or Dewgong?

Well.. It really depends on the gyms.. I usually go with the hardest pokemon to use.. like in crystal i got a chikorita.. I'll google it and see what pokemon should i get for most hardest soon..

Technically I am starting with Chimchar. I always go with the Fire-type. Though through my two copies and my friend's two copies the two of us are planning to end up with all three starters.

I've decided on Piplup. Empoleon makes a good wall, I like Water element, and he just looks so freaking cool.
