4th Gen The three starters

I picked Hikozaru, because I liked it's evolutions best, I wanted to pick Piplup at first, but Empoleon didn't appeal that much to me.
I never thought about getting Naetle, I just don't like it that much.

In the end, I'm quite happy about my decision, because you can't get any other fire Pokémon than Ponita before the league.

Well, since I can trade very easily now, I might get the other 2 anyway.

i am going ot get all three but chimchar and its evolutions name are easy to say

I'm definetly getting Piplup becasue how cute it is and becasue the only water starter I chose out of all the games was Squirtle all the rest were fire pokemon yay *hugs Qilava doll*

I just love fire pokemons, but chimchar has the ugliest last evolution that I have seen in my life, infernape is, well: (ridiculous, imitation of a blaziken fire-fighting too, has a ridiculous name,etc.............)
And to make it worse I just HATE monkeys, apes, and such things.........:tired:

Although I like Charizard, like Blaziken and LOVE Typhlosion, I'll simply pick Piplup.
Empoleon (although it's ridiculous name) is the most good looking starter in D/P generation. :P

But for my luck I'll send the first 3 fire starters from my Sapphire version to a Diamond, when I get one!
So I'm not worried about which one I'll get in D/P.

I don't think Chimchar is ugly, He's Cute ^^.....I do however agree that Piplup is the best starter, But I do have a bias towards Water Pokemon :D

piplup isn't the best starter. chimchar is. it has the best stats, the best movepool and strengths. that's the only reason why i don't like it... it is at a clear advantage. the order goes like this: infernape>empoleon>torterra.

this generation's starters are the most unbalanced set of all. it's upsetting.

Actually I don´t care if Chimchar´s stats are stronger, me for example, I use my Typhlosion in every battle, even knowing that a Typhlosion is not the strongest fire pokemon in stats...
Why?
Because I think it´s the coolest, the greatest, the best , not because of it´s stats, but just because because I like it.

I guess I'll say something in this thread...

Chimchar: Cute(er)(est)! I'm getting this little trouble make first. It has a great idea, and cool looks. And I ALWAYS get the fire starter the first time, then the water, and finnaly the grass.

Piplup: Cute. I'm getting this one seceond. At first look, I was going to get him first, but when they revealed Empoleon, it wasn't going to happen. Why is there a tab sticking out of it's stomach? I'd like it better with out the weird crown thing too.

Turtwig: Ugly! Most definently the last one I'm going to get. I think it is actually pretty cute, though. Grotle is better than Turtwig a little. Dotaitos is just plain odd. It has a tree on it's back along with spikes. spikes are fine, but a TREE.

im probably gonna get piplup in diamond and turtwig in pearl, but maybe chimchar in pearl. also, chimchar and his evos are the ONLY fire types in the whole shinnou dex practically. youd have to transfer some fire thing from a gba game.
also, theres something that has always bugged me about the starter final evos when i figured it out. doesnt anyone else think that the final evos kinda reverse the triangle of weaknesses (fire beats grass, grass beats water and water beats fire)?
think about it. Fire is weak to water. But, the fighting part of infernape beats the steel part of empoleon. water is weak to grass. but the water (or i think steel as well) beats the ground part of torterra. grass it weak to fire, but the ground part beats the fire of infernape. anyone else think thats weird, or that it was meant to be like that?

that's funny, i liked typhlosion the LEAST out of all the starters. it is one-sided... it isn't multifaceted. can't be put to much use other than being a semi-special sweeper with too many weaknesses. in D/P, it doesn't have much special attack options other than focus bomb.

@cantthinkofanmae- ground beats steel. the reversing triangle kind of evens things out a little.

i'm picking torterra, it learns EQ and Wood hammer (grass double edge). both are physical and over 100 power

That's the word!! I'll pick Torrterra too!!

I LOVE FIRE POKEMONS, TOO! "but chimchar has the ugliest last evolution that I have seen in my life" I THINK SO TOO! HE'S THE WORST FIRE TYP.

I'm gonna pick Torterra, just because with him you can build a seeder with great defense that knows Earthquake as soon as it evolves. XDD.

You see?
People only care about of wich is stronger, wich has more stats, wich has better moves.:knockedou
Well i got my typhlosion with max Sp.Atk. possible and with 299 of Speed in my Sapphire version, I can get rid of many water types with one single thunder punch.

Also fire types can crush more types than many others, it's strong against ice, bug, grass and steel.
With a Sunny Day on the field, my Typhlosion can crush maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany pokemons, once I kiled a blastoise with one single Flamethrower!;)

Hehe!
So you like fire types? Smart guy!;)
One day (when i get my Diamond version, and if you get one) let's have FIRE VS FIRE POKEMON wi-fi battle!

I am going to get turtwig on diamond and chimchar on pearl.
But I hate Chimchar I just think he looks cool.
Turtwig is the second most awesome starter ever (to bulbasaur),
But i have a question, When did Charizard and bulbasaur get secondary types?

charizard has always been fire/flying, and bulbasaur has always been grass/poison.
