the ULTIMATE Pokemon Challenge

What makes a Pokemon master? A Pokemon master must be able to win with his favorites. A Pokemon master must be able to win with the same Pokemon in many different situations. A Pokemon master must have knowledge of many different kinds of Pokemon, and therefore must be able to win using nearly any kind of Pokemon. He must be able to win with the Pokemon that other masters win with, and beat them with those Pokemon. Do you have what it takes to be a Pokemon master? Do you want to find out?

This challenge is meant to be the biggest, longest, and most challenging Pokemon Challenge ever created. It does not introduce any new ideas, rather, it combines old ideas. Here is the design:

4. Unevolved Challenge
5. Triospecies Challenge
6. Character based Challenge
7. Solo Runner Challenge

Most who challenge this will be familiar with the rules, but for those who aren't, here is the description of each challenge

Descriptions:

Ulitmate Monotype Challenge: Pick a type. Now beat each region using that type, and only that type. So, you have to beat one of Red, Blue, Yellow, Fire Red, or Leaf Green, one of Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold, or Soul Silver, one of Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald, and one of Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Obviously, if you use either Dark or Steel, you must do either Fire Red or Leaf Green, because those types aren't accessable in Red, Blue, and Yellow.

You must get your first Pokemon before: Lt Surge for RBY FR/LG, Goldenrod City in GSC HG/SS, Slateport City in RSE, and Eterna Forest in D/P/Pt. When you do, start exclusively using your type (the exception is in RSE, where you can't kill Poochyenas with Ralts. You may use the starter only for that until Ralts or another Psychic Type learn a move that hits Dark Types.

Random Pokemon Challenge: I will go to the site https://wyncorporation.com/pokemon/ and a random team will be selected. I will then directly post the team in this thread and you will beat the game with that team. First, you tell me which version you will be using to do this challenge, so you don't get Loudred picked if you're doing the challenge on the Blue Version. You also tell me how many Pokemon (1-6) you will be using, and I will pick accordingly. The remaining slots can be filled only by HM slaves. You may not use the remaining slots for Pokemon you want to use. If terrible Pokemon like Caterpie, Weedle, and Magikarp are picked, I will repick your Pokemon. But for the most part, you are stuck with the Pokemon you get.

Note: You may not evolve your Pokemon. If you get a Paras and really want a Parasect, that's tough. You should have had better luck :P.

Gym Leader Challenge: You pick a version and a Gym Leader found on that version, and use the Pokemon that they have to beat the game. You may use any Pokemon they use from the games, Stadium and Stadium 2 (for 1st and 2nd generation leaders), the anime, or the manga.

Note: You may not use Pokemon on Jasmine's team if you are playing Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. The gym leader that you use has to be a gym leader in that game.

Unevolved Challenge: Pretty simple. Play through without evolving any of your Pokemon. If you find a Pokemon that is evolved, then too bad, you can't use it.

Note: If a Pokemon has a baby form in a generation (Smoochum, Bonsly, Happiny, etc.) you can't use the grown up (Jynx, Sudowoodo, Chansey) unless you are playing the generation that they don't have the baby in. So you can use Jynx in RBY, but not GSC on. You can use Chansey up until D/P/Pt. You guys get the drift.

Triospecies Challenge: You pick three Pokemon and beat the game with them. They can be any type, evolution, whatever. The limitation here is you only get to use three. So if you want to use a Camerupt in Ruby until the 6th gym, and you do use him until said gym, tough. You have to use him for the remainder of the game. Obviously, starter doesn't count if you don't want to use him, just get your first Pokemon as soon as you can.

Character Based Challenge: Beat the game with Pokemon that a character in the anime/manga use. Sorta like the Gym leader challenge, but you can only use anime and manga for your selection of Pokemon. But you get more people to pick from.

Notes: If you pick ash/red, you may only use one of his teams from one region. No mixing and matching.
Crystal has captured nearly every Pokemon. You can only use the ones she has if you pick her.
Emerald has used many Pokemon. If you pick him, only use one of his frontier teams, or his current team.

Solo Runner Challenge: Pick a single Pokemon. Beat the game with it. It's like the Triospecies Challenge, but harder. Your Pokemon may evolve.

And now for the general rules:

1. Each challenge ends when you:
Beat the elite four once in RBY FR/LG
Beat Red once in GSC HG/SS
Beat the elite four once in RSE
Beat the elite four once in DP
Beat the elite four twice in Pt
2. No using Glitches. This means no Missingno to level your Pokemon to Level 100 in RBY, no Mew Glitch, etc.
3. No Legendaries. Ever. Even in the Character based challenge if someone has a legendary, you can't use it. You may use legendaries for HM Slaves.
4. No trading, unless you are evolving a Pokemon or trading to get a type early on in the Monotype Challenge.
5. You may use Emulators, just don't use them to cheat.
6. Multiple people can do the same type, character, etc.
7. Update Update Update!!!
8. This isn't a race, so take your time and have fun.
9. Please do the challenge in the order that I designated, to help keep it organized.

You may, I signed up for the Monotype challenges for each version while I was doing my ultimate Mono run

I know you could, like stated above, I basically did that when I was doing my monotype challenge. So why not just sign up for all the monotype challenges by generation, and not do the ultimate? its the same idea basically. This is sort of a place for people who like to do most/all of these challenges to post in a single thread rather than skipping around.

I personally thought the ultimate monotype was a bit hard, and think that if I narrow it down to a single Pokemon, it would be even harder. So why not gather a lot of challenges and see if people can still beat all of them.

In the Ultimate Monotype Challenge description, I guess you should write get your first pokemon before Rock Tunnel because Surge can be skipped until pre-Victory Road.
edit: I've done the Ultimate Monotype Challenge with Water. In my Ghost Ultimate Monotype Challenge, I've done a solo Haunter run in FR, solo Gengar run in Crystal and a solo Sableye run in Sapphire. I will be the first one to start here so:

Challenge #1: Ultimate monotype challenge

so i started the monotype challange : flying type
im playing leaf green on my computer on the emulator (i dont own any of nintendo products.. im so sad -.-)
- so.. i started with bulbasaur (dont ask me why, but i don't want to have charizard), done all the quests u have to do to obtain pokeballs
- i don't want a pidgey so i caught a spearow. i was searching for a att+ nature one and i searched and searched... and finnaly cought one - lonely
- trained it and defeated rival, went through the viridian forest
- i caught a caterpie and evolved it to a butterfree and deafeted brock with 6+ def harden then confusions
- continued my journey and bought magikarp with spatt+ nature because i need a sp attacker (i know gyarados has a huge attack stat)
- trained magikarp (boring) and came out of the cave into vermillion
- made a visit to bill and then fought misty
- killed all at S.S. Ann, beat my rival and got HM cut
- went through the diglet cave and got HM flash, got the old amber and caught a zubat at mt. moon jolly nature (dont ask me why did i get him just now)
-trained at diglet cave a bit then to the gym 3. lt. surge wasn't such a pain i beat him with my overleveled pokemon:

It was a though battle against Lorelei but i made it (from the 2nd run). Bruno was easy with gyara clearing the first poke and then scyther came in to sweep.Agata was a free sweep for Scyther and so was Drake.
My rivals battle:
I led with Gyara and he with pidgeoto - 2HKO with ice beam and he just sand attacked me
he switched to rhydon - i miss surf and he rock tomb 1HKO
i switched to Fearow and restored Gyara - 1HKO rock tomb
i switched Aero and healed gyara - 1HKO rock tomb
switched to Gyara - surf 1HKO
he sent out Alakazam - with a lot of struggling and a lot of healing i killed him
he sent Exeggutor- he killed me
i sent out scyther - when i was SD and Agility, he sleeped me and egg bombed me. i recovered with full restores and began the sweep
1HKO Wing Attack Exeggutor, Charizard and Gyarados... and i win :D so this is it with the challange in Kanto right? :D moving to crystal

-went to iron island and joined in a party with the lucario guy
-trained yanma from lvl 33 - 42 xD, evolved in yanmega at 38 (for hypnosis)
-beat the galactics again
-beat the gym easily with staraptors close combat
-went to the library and talked with rowan when suddenly an earthquake shaked us
-went to lake valor and defeated the galactics (lol som1 said something like that to me: "Be the same as the magikarps, lay down and play in mud" xD)
-went to Lake Verity and beat Mars for the 2nd time
-went through mt. coronet and got to route 217
-got hm 8 rock climb
-defeated the 7th gym (it was easy)
-cought a tropius as a hm slave
-flew back to snowpoint and went to lake acuity
-flew to veilstone and seen Looker
-got into the warehouse
-seen the "mighty" speech of cyrus
-beat him in a duel (easily)
-beat Saturn and released the 3 legendaries
-went to mt. coronet and after like 3 years xD (just kidding), i found the spear pillar
-beat, in a team with fail, the 2 galactic admins
-after all the talking and the legendary pokemons i got into the distortion world
-after so long brain puzzle i finnaly got to cyrus
-defeated him and then caught giratina with the master ball (i will erase the save after the game, so...)
-flew to sandgem, and then got to sunyshore city
-beat falkner and won the 8th badge!! yay me
-got through the victory road
-beat my rival the last time and he fails hard
-fed my yanmega with rare candy's xD

-3x stockpile + heal first when she shock waved me (used a guard spec. in my i had in my inventory)
-spammed charge beam and got 4+ Satt
-Togekiss fainted

-driflblim stayed in
-i charged beam it once and got it mirror caoted back
-charge beam took around 70% and mirror coat KO'ed me
-i sent in staraptor
-brave bird KO'ed it
4.Lucario
-sent in gligar
-got 2 Swords Dances
-heal up, then EQ'ed and 1HKO
5.Garchomp
-garchomp used dragon rush - i thought it would kill me o.0
-ice fang 1HKO
6.Roserade
-heal up, then Earthuake to victory

It was FireRed. I actually completed that one yesterday.
Also, in the Platinum leg of my Water Ultimate Monotype Challenge I used only Empoleon, Floatzel and Gastrodon. So I've done three of them, right?

I'm up for a challenge. Sign me up for this! I'm in the middle of a Flying Monotype Challenge so I'll post my progress here, too.

Here's my latest update:

-Tempo evolved
-Went through the Lighthouse
-Got a Sharp Beak from Monica, which will definitely help against Chuck
-Surfed to Cianwood on Totodile. Surprisingly I didn't encounter much Pokemon
-Battled Eusine. He was actually tough because of his Electrode. It knocked out Zangetsu and Kazeshini with it's stupid Thunder. Tempo was actually able to beat it because of Pidgeotto's Sand-Attack and because Hypnosis actually hit it! Haunter was a breeze, in fact it killed itself with Curse :P
-Defeated Chuck. It was easier than expected since I thought Primeape's Rock Slide and Poliwrath's Hypnosis would get annoying. Turns out Zengetsu took out Primeape with one Wing Attack and Poliwrath didn't even use Hypnosis.
-Caught a Mantine! (With my last Great Ball actually)
-Grinded Mantine to use against Steelix
-Beat Jasmine. Steelix was surprisingly easy for a Mantine 3 levels lower than it. It fainted after 2 Surfs. The Magnemites, though, were very annoying for Zangetsu, who mangaged to defeat them thanks to Confuse Ray.
