So I got permission from the moderators to get this up and running, it kind of compliments the weather tournament. ^_^
Well, you might remember The Whirl Cup tournament staged during the Ash and Misty days of the television show way back when. This is pretty much the same ordeal: each round will consist of team's entirely of Water Pokemon (you may have dual types as long as they're part Water). The first round or two will be 3 on 3 battles, no exceptions. After that, five Pokemon will be allowed and six around the semi-finals, just to create a little bit more of a challenge.
This should be pretty fun for everyone, especially considering water types are very versatile and can learn a wide variety of moves, so creating a full water team that pwns the competition is easy! The prizes of the tournament are yet to be determined, but I may be offering free rounds for anyone who would like to contribute some. ;) Obviously, the prize should be something water related.
Now on to the rules...
a) No Legendary/Uber water types will be permitted in this competition. No other legends/ubers will be allowed either, considering this is water types only.
b) Dragon and Ice types don't count as water Pokemon, folks. Even if they're based on water animals or whatever, if they aren't actually the water type you can't use them.
c) No Hax Items will be permitted. This includes Scope Lens, Brightpowder, Lax Incense, King's Rock, Razor Claw, and Quick Claw (borrowed from the Official PC Tourney thread.)
d) At least for now, you must have three trained water members ready for the beginning of the tournament. The latter rounds will add more, but if you choose to use less than your opponent that's your decision.
e) Lv.50 or Lv.100 wifi battles of course! Also all clauses will be in effect (see the first post of the Official PC Tournament thread for more details.)
f) You may not use more than one of the same Pokemon. It's a little silly to come into a fight with three Blastoise, even if they are in some way different.
I hope we can get a good amount of members for this. For our first tournament, I'll hold 16 spots for Single battles, and 8 spots for anyone who'd like to enter Doubles. For Doubles we'd have 4 on 4 for the beginning rounds and expand to 6 from there. This way, we can start the tournament as soon as possible and hopefully have less no-shows. PLEASE BE COMMITTED AND ONLINE AT LEAST ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK TO PARTICIPATE. It really sucks when 3/4 of the field turns out to be no-shows or people with bad wifi connections. If it turns out this is a popular idea, I'd be happy to expand the entries, especially for doubles. Please know what you're getting into if you enter both tournaments; you should be able to have weekend battles back-to-back, just make sure scheduling isn't an issue if you sign up for both.
I think that's it for now...any questions feel free to ask and I'll update this post with entries and additions to rules/etc. Each round will have a week to finish (I happen to like the Saturday start/finish) and extensions can be given if absolutely necessary. We will probably be starting a week or two after the Weather tournament gets started, since it'll take people some time and effort to train the best Water teams they can. Who will be our first Whirl Cup champ? :bandit:
