Um... you can't duel him if he's not here, which he isn't right now.

you still have to win them in duels shadow duels or something else i might be forgetting
 
Not really. He stole Pharoah's millennium puzzle in AE without winning a duel. They all work for him because he does what he does for the spirits who were sacrificed (against their will) for the millennium items to be made.
